Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.

The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Katherine had to think hard about that one. She had had overall a pleasant life, filled with good memories. But, she could remember her most vibrant.
"It was when I was about twelve, I had been sort of flustered with myself over the fact that I simply couldnt come to look at my father the same way. It was round when I first began to see his money hunger, you see. And so, I was very upset because I just didn't know what I could possibly do about it. So I set out to walk around the house, maybe see a bird that I liked, when I came to the forest's edge for the first time. I was very scared, but I was more upset than anything at that point--so I walked in. I had already enjoyed being in the fields, but when I walked in a little farther, I immediately loved being surrounded by the woods. I set to walking about, and within a little while I realized I was lost. So now panic set in, and I started to cry. I thought I was headed in the right direction, so without knowing I ended up even deeper in the woods. It was starting to get dark, and I assumed I was going to die when I came across this meadow. It was so peaceful and serene that it calmed me down completely. As I learned the meadow, I regained my composure and set to looking for the right way out, knowing that I could return to my safe haven at any time by marking my path. Sure enough, I returned twice, making it home the third time. I was ecstatic, knowing that I had made a little second home for myself there in the woods that I had a big grin over my face when I walked through the door. Of course, my parents hadn't even noticed I was gone, but the servants had. Astille, the head maid, scolded me--something that always bothered me--and it didn't bother me cause I knew I would go back the next day. And to this day, nothing bothers me because I have my little meadow to come and hide in."
She blushed, thinking her story was a tad bit childish, but it was the honest to goodness happiest memory she had. "I know, it's just a meadow, but I love it here." she said.
Hunter couldn’t help but smile as she told him of how she found the meadow. Something so simple, yet so complex about her joy in it. “But it isn’t just a meadow, not for you at any rate. It is your sanctuary, a place that you can come to to escape the frustrations of the world and simply be at peace. That is something that I dearly wish I had.”
He wondered what he would be like if he had had a meadow to retreat to when the world became too much. Instead, he had lashed out at the world, and those in it. But when he was with Katherine all his worldly worries evaporate and, for the first time in his life, he felt truly at peace. Had he found his meadow at long last?
Katherine nodded, pleased that he understood what she meant.
"I'm sure you'll find somewhere someday. I think everyone does. That's why I don't hold too much rencor for my father--I suppose money and business is his escape."
Turning back on her side, she smiled.
"So now, you must tell me! What is your happiest memory?"
His happiest memory… Most of his life had been filled with pursuing his every dark desire, and many moments of great pleasure, but was that happiness? His childhood had been uneventful, the son of a peasant, simply toiling in the fields, and then his powers emerged.
Honestly, as he looked over his life he could only thing of one truly happy memory. “While you may not believe it, it was last week, at your father’s ball when we went out into the garden.” Reluctantly he began to fabricate more lies for the impending questions about his life, still unwilling to tell the truth yet, for fear of shattering what they had.
Katherine blushed redder than she had the entire time with Hunter when he said his happiest memory was meeting her.
"I'm flattered." she whispered.
She felt herself overcome with emotions, and before she knew it was leaning in to graze his lips with her own. She had never been kissed before, and didn't know exactly what to expect.
When she leant in to kiss him he kissed her back, gently, caringly. When they finaly parted lips Hunter said the first thing that came to mind, “Run away with me.” He never wanted to be apart from her again.
They could easily run away together, she was rarely noticed by her family and it would take a while fro them to miss her. He had more than enough money for them both to live a comfortable life, travelling the world together. Visions of his future were no longer filed with blood, but with her, only her.
Katherine kissed him with a tenderness and passion she never knew she had, emotions swirling through her to make her feel lightheaded and breathless. She opened her eyes to find herself looking right into his eyes, an amazing smile on his face that she seemed to share. 'I think I really love this man...' she thought, when he voiced something incredulous, something absurd--yet something she would do in a heartbeat.
"Where would we go?" she asked.
Sitting up, she straightened up her hair and her dress, her senses coming back to her. All of a sudden she got a thrill of excitement as she realized what she was about to do. Was she really going to leave her humdrum, pseudo-luxurious life to be with the man of her dreams?
“Anywhere in the world,” Hunter replied, and he meant it. What better use for his vast wealth than to escape with Katherine to the corners of the world, to see and experience different people and cultures.
He was already planning how to whisk her away from the estate unnoticed. With his mesmerising stare anyone they met could be “convinced” to pay them no heed. Once he got her to his carriage she would be hidden inside, then after he said goodbye to Mr Oswald and collect Dominik, they would be free to do as they pleased. They could leave England within the week, heading for wherever their heart desired.
He was overjoyed that she had agreed, and could not wait to start this new life. There was only one could darkening the horizon, his power and his past, but his jubilant emotions had swept them aside for the time being.
Katherine now stood up, making sure she seemed decent. She had no intention of saying goodbye to her father or mother, they were so preoccupied in their lives that it really made no difference what they thought. But there was a few things she wanted to collect, like her grandmother's locket and ruby ring that she held close.
"Can I stop inside the house quickly or would that hinder things?" she asked.
She took him by the hand and began to lead him out of the forest, keeping her eyes peeled for servants.
Hunter followed her out of the forest, his keen eyes scanning for any who might oppose them. “I’ve sneaked around a few buildings in my time,” more than a few in fact. Most of his wealth had come from sneaking into buildings, killing someone and then leaving without being noticed.
“Just give me directions and we’ll collect what you want before leaving unnoticed.” In the distance he saw a servant by the back door, too far away for Katherine to make out, but clear for him. Concentrating his focused all his will on the servant. Thought the distance was great he managed to convince her to move around to the side of the building, leaving the backdoor unguarded.
Katherine looked back to Hunter, a look of incredulity on her face.
"Why would someone like you be sneaking around buildings?" she asked, but with a giggle dismissed it.
"Let's go for the backdoor, there doesn't seem to be anyone there." she said, and made towards the right of the building. Making it to the door, she found it somewhat odd that no one was indeed there. She opened the door and as easily as walking through was inside. "We have to go straight down this hallway and take the stairs on the left to the first room on the right. That's the hallway to get to my room, the last room on the left." With that, she began to tread carefully to the stairs, trying not to get caught so as to avoid an awkward situation.
Hunter followed Katherine through the house, his senses straining to detect anyone coming. Reaching the stairs he moved ahead of Fiona and looked up. A servant was passing and caught his eye.
Instantly Hunter had them mesmerised and sent them left, away from their route. He swiftly and silently scaled the stairs, motioning for Katherine to follow. Reaching the top he listened to the door. There seemed to be two people talking on the other side.
“I can hear people,” he whispered to Katherine, “I’ll go first and tell them I’m lost and need a guide back to your father. Once I’ve lead them away get your things and meet my by the back door.”
With that Hunter opened the door and stepped around the corner. The two servants, a butler and a maid by the look of it, stopped their argument and turned to look at him. “So sorry,” he began, “I seem to have gotten lost, could you show me back to Mr Oswald?”
“Of course sir, this way,” said the butler, leading him down the corridor. Hunter quickly mesmerised the maid to make her go into one of the rooms leaving the corridor clear for Katherine as he followed the butler.
She walked through the halls as effortlessly as she always had throughout her life. Walking past the various rooms, she finally made it into her room. It looked pretty empty, and she heaved a sigh of relief as she set to finding her locket and ring. She reached both items in her jewelry box, and placing the locket around her neck and the ring on her finger, she set to go back through the door.
"I already told you! It's Miss Katherine's room that's on the left!" came an angry female voice, and the hushed assurance that could only come from the young servant girl, Millie.
Rolling her eyes, she realized it was Mrs. Harris, the head maid, scolding the new maid again. Walking out, she decided she would do something before she left. Walking up to both of them, prestigious in her air, she had to hold a stiff composure in order not to laugh slightly.
"Mrs. Harris. What in heaven's name is going on here?"
Mrs. Harris looked in shock, as Katherine had never used that tone with her. However, she was forced to comply as after all, Katherine was her mistress. "I was tellin' the new girl what room was which. She's been 'ere for almost two mumfs and yet she still has to ask wha' room is which! It's prepo--" Harris was cut off by Katherine rasing a hand.
"Thank you Mrs. Harris. I'll deal with her now."
Millie looked simply terrified as Katherine led her to her room. Walking inside, she closed the door behind her.
"I've always hated Mrs. Harris." she said, eliciting a confused but relieved look on the young girl's face.
Pulling out her life's savings, she handed the girl the money which was wrapped up in a tan colored stachel that she liked as a girl. "I want you to have this. Leave this house. With this you can get farther away, and find a new job." Millie looked in shock, as though she could never imagine Katherine doing this.
"I-I can't.." stammered Millie, but Katherine hushed her.
"I'm leaving Millie. Don't say a word, but you're leaving too. Come with me."
Opening the door again, she made her way down the stairs back to the back door. The servant's quarters were just a little farther away from the house.
"Now go, collect your things, and leave here. I'm leaving just now, so don't worry about that money. It's yours. I hope everything goes well for you Millie!" said Katherine, and gave her a small hug.
"And no matter what, you're better than what people say. Never let anyone get your spirits down."
Katherine ran towards the forest area again, knowing that waiting by the back door was a little dangerous. Hopefully she'd be able to spot him before he headed to the door, and call him over to the wooded area.
Hunter tanked the butler and walked into the drawing room. it had been over an hour, but Dominik had Mr Oswald so enthralled that he failed to notice Hunter leave or return.
“Well Mr Oswald,” said Dominik rising, “I think that we can come to an agreement that is extremely beneficial to both parties.”
“As do I,” said Hunter, as if he had been there the entire time, “Alas, time waits for no man and the day is pressing on. I am needed elsewhere, but we shall be in touch.”
He extended a hand which Mr Oswald shook warmly. “Oh yes, quite. Wouldn’t want to keep you form your business.” Mr Oswald was beaming ecstatically. Hunter was beginning to wonder just how much Dominik had offered him. The pair of them were shown to the front door.
Approaching the carriage both got in and Hunter quickly gave his orders. As they began to drive away he would slip out of the carriage out of sight of the house. He’d go around to the back and take Katherine into the woods, where the carriage would be waiting at the opposite edge. With his enhanced senses Hunter could effortlessly lead them through the wood to his carriage.
He cautiously crept around to the back of the house, but saw now sign of Katherine. Hearing her call his name he turned to see her at the edge of the wood, and set off towards it at a run. Once her reached Katherine he swept her up in his arms and kissed her passionately.
“Well my lady, time for us to be away.” Taking her hand he lead her into the wood towards where his carriage and his new life would waiting.
Katherine was starting to panic when all of a sudden she saw a small figure darting towards the back of the mansion.
"HUNTER!" she called once, trying to keep her composure.
He came towards her quickly, and she couldn't help but return his passion twofold when he took her in his arms. Her lips felt almost electric as she dug her hands into his back. She giggled as he led them away, her anxiety fading. Gone, at last.
But behind the two, eyes were watching that glared at Hunter and Katherine's intertwined form.
