The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Ted swiftly covered his burgers as the expected shower hit. He was about to go teach the guy a lesson when he saw a girl beat him to it. Content that justice had been done, he finished off his burger and reached for the next one. His fingers felt only the plate. "Wow, I thought I was eating slowly. Ah, well." He picked up his plate and headed for the grill, grabbing a soda out of the pool on the way. He opened it, and it immediatly fizzed over. Ted quickly drained it, and tossed the can towards where he thought a bin was, hoping that it wouldn't hit anyone in the way. He saw that the next round of burgers were sizzling away, and mentally claimed the ones he would take as soon as cat-boy said the magic words. "You look like a real chef there, cat-boy. Spatula and everything!"
"Why thank you, Ted." Calley twirled the spatula around his hand like a baton, and grinned. "You look like you're wasting away. Fear not; the next round should be done in a few minutes." How many burgers had the guy eaten, anyway? Calley had gone beyond depressed to impressed. Yes, he himself wasn't eating with carefree glutton--hence the depression--but he felt like he was watching a real master at work. Truly, it was an honor to be in Hamburglar Ted's presence.
Fiona saw a suspicious character heading towards the pool as she neared it to pass to the grill area. Sure enough, he ended up rearing back with a shout that no one liked: cannon ball.
"Oh hell no!" she exclaimed, and ran forward just in time to avoid most of it.
Shaking her head, she walked to the grill area absentmindedly when something struck her hard on the forehead. She winced, looking around for what had hit her, but she couldn't find anything. Much to her dismay, there was a trickle of blood falling from her forehead--tiny, but annoying. 'What in hell could have done that?' she thought to herself, when her eyes landed on a crumpled aluminum can, with sharp points that resulted from the crumpling.
Walking over to where the napkins were, she shook her head with a laugh. It would always have to be her, huh? Rather than make a scene, she simply held her napkin to her forehead and grabbed another spatula.
Hunter could smell the blood in the air and turned to see Fiona holding a napkin to her forehead as she went back to the grill. Moving to her side he asked “Are you all right?”
A quick glance around revealed what had cut her, a crumpled can lying on the ground. He remembered seeing the boy Ted throw it, but as Fiona had not made a scene neither would he. Besides, if he injured Ted and the boy transformed he may have to reveal his powers, and he didn’t want to do that if it could be helped.
Fiona had set to fixing the steaks around, making sure they wouldn't be overcooked. A shiver ran through her as Hunter joined her side, her not having seen him cross over to him. Smiling, she placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled.
"I'm just fine sweetie, it's a tiny cut. See?"
She lifted the napkin to reveal a small cut, bleeding but not tremendous. Placing her napkin back over it, she smiled once again. "I think these things are done." she said, and switching tools again, skewered the steaks on to seperate plates she had pulled aside previously.
"Grill's all yours my good sir." she said playfully to Calley, with a short bow. Moving over to the salad, she began to mix in dressing as well as she could with one hand.

OOC: hamburglar? he never stole them, just ate them regardless of whether or not they were his
IC: Ted noticed that Fiona was holding a napkin to her head, but had by now forgotten about his soda can so he had now idea what was up. He was about to ask when Hunter appeared out of nowhere at her side. He contemplated giving a whistle, but decided that annoying the scary (OOC: and bitey) man was not a good idea. He instead waited for cat-boy to finish cooking, these were only little burgers so he needed a few more before going for a swim to work them off.
Hunter could see that it was only a small cut, but he’d killed for less before, and probably would do again. However, now was neither the time nor the place. Instead me went to take over mixing the salad form Fiona.
“Allow me,” he quickly mixed the salad and added some to both plates. Passing one to Fiona he asked, “Would you like another drink?”

Iris briefly considered going to eat by the pool again; the sun was high and warm. But she decided she was enjoying herself right where she was instead, watching Ted and Calley spar. She always was trying to figure out where Ted was storing that food. She'd never seen someone eat that much that fast! She hadn't been paying attention to the earlier conversation, and wasn't sure what he meant by 'beast', so she remained silent.
Another 'cannonball' cry came from the direction of the pool, and she was suddenly glad she had stayed put. Nika, on the other hand, was drenched. And whoever the guy was, Iris felt no pity for when Nika appeared, then disappeared with one of the water coolers. She laughed quietly, and rolled her eyes.
"What is with the cannonball guys today?" she remarked, still munching away.
When Ted reappeared, looking for more food, she shook her head and looked at him in amazement.
"You want more?" she teased, imitating a scene from Oliver Twist. "Honestly Ted, you're gonna make yourself sick. Here." She smiled and pushed one of her slices of untouched watermelon at him. "Try something lighter." Most people enjoyed watermelon, although she wasn't sure he did.
Of to the side she noticed Fiona holding a napkin to her head. She wasn't sure what had happened, but she excused herself briefly and went to find her bag by the pool. The outside was wet from the cannonball, but the insides were still fairly dry. She rummaged a bit as she headed back toward the grill. Pool injuries were common, so once again she'd come prepared. She walked to Fiona and handed her a tiny tube of clear, liquid bandages.
"They're waterproof," she said with a wink, and headed back toward the grill to finish her burger, stowing her bag under the table.
Fiona smiled appreciatively as she took the tube from her. "Thanks."
Taking a small bandage, she placed it slightly above her right eyebrow where the can had struck. Looking at Hunter, she smiled. "Do I look sexy, or what?" Fiona burst out into laughter then, as she took the plates.
"Yeah actually. Would you mind getting me a Heineken?"
She wasn't in the mood for anything fancy at the moment, and instead wanted nothing more than to lounge around.

Calley
((ooc: Still workin' on your nickname, Teddy my boy. ))
"Power to the cats!" Calley shouted at Nika after her priceless cooler stunt, just about laughing his head off.
When Fiona came back and Hunter immediately glued himself to her side, he inconspicuously backed off the immediate grill area. He would have made a comment about Fiona's injury, but he didn't want to interfere with Hunter's elaborate mating dance. The man was reminding him of a bird--like a rooster, maybe.
A rooster who probably knew more than one way to skin a cat. I really hope he's not a telepath, Calley feverently thought, thoroughly repenting of his Animal Planet comparisons, just in case. He wasn't quite sure why, but the guy was making the hair on the back of his arms stand up. And he hadn't liked how the guy had been looking at Iris earlier. Granted that Iris was fun to look at, but that hadn't been a lovey-dovey look.
"Grill's all yours my good sir." Fiona said with a bow.
Calley dropped an graceless curtsy, miming a skirt with his hands. "Thank you, m'Lady." He returned to his station at the grill.
Ooo, just in time, too. He quickly put two of the burgers aside--both for himself, that time--and then grabbed up the tray and laid out Hamburgalasaurus Ted's meal. "Third course is served, everybody! Come and get them while they're uneaten!"

OOC: Teddy? well, he does get furry, though not really the cuddly kind *evil grin*
IC: Ted looked at the proffered watermelon, but shook his head. "No thank-you, I've always preffered meat as my main food source. It uses up less space." He had always been able to down more meat than anything else. This was entirely due to his powers, but he didn't know that and had always assumed that he was just a good eater.
"Third course is served, everybody!"
"Ah, music to my ears." Ted put another couple of burgers on his plate, slowing down now after eating so many. He made a mental note to go swimming shortly after eating them, he needed to work off the extra energy. Not bothering with any garnish, or even buns, he put them on top of each other and began eating them as they are. "Mmmch, scrunch, great burgers, I think you're getting good at this, cat-boy!" Ted wandered over to his favourite lounger, and chomped away.
OOC: How come Hunter’s freaking everyone out? Just because he’s thinking about the effects of draining your blood…
IC: Hunter smiled at her comment on the bandage, “It suits you,” he said with a grin. He went to the bar and grabbed two Heinekens, adding them to his tab. Bringing them back to Fiona he handed her one and took a seat.
He could hear Calley’s heart beat increase when he looked Hunter’s way, indicating some anxiety. Hunter gave the boy a warm smile to try and put him at ease. He had nothing to fear form Hunter, as by the sounds of it his power would be too much of a nuisance to make draining him worthwhile. The same went for Ted.
As for Iris, he’d seen her hair change colour and watched her levitate water, but he still didn’t know the extent of her powers. Maybe she had other abilities, or water manipulation was her limit, but it would be interesting to sample either way.
Her turned back to Fiona and popped a piece of his steak into his mouth. Delicious, almost as good as human blood. He gave Fiona an approving smile before his thoughts turned to her power. Her ability to persuade people to like her could serve to augment his mesmerising power, but until he sampled her he wouldn’t know if he could control it or not, and now was neither the time nor the place to try.

Calley
Warm smile... making skin crawl... Calley smiled back at Hunter like a deer in headlights, and then decided to stop looking the man's way. If he didn't see him, he wasn't there.
He could only shake his head wonderingly as Teddy the Abominable Burger Man loaded up his plate again. He seemed to be slowing down... but the fact that that many burgers was "slowing down" for the guy was impressive in and of itself. The stack-o-burgers eating trick was also nifty. Since it looked like the burgers might last more than ten minutes this time, he took his own plate, added buns and fixin's, and joined Iris and Tedsquatch at the table.

(OOC: Hunter, I have no idea. ;D And Calley, I'm laughing so hard irl with all those nicknames! )
Iris shook her head again. Granted, Ted was a good couple of inches taller than she was, but she still couldn't figure out where all that meat was going.
She finished her food, and drained her water, then stretched. She glanced back at the pool, debating whether to go back in, or to sunbathe. With everyone eating, it would probably be a while before anyone was ready to play around again.
"Oh yes you did deserve that. You got me all wet when I was nice and dry and enjoying the warmth of the sun." Sticking her tongue out in a playful manner. "You didn't have to jump into the pool from so high up. All you had to do was walk over and talk to me." The girl looked up at Nail and gave him a playful glare.
