The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Om nom nom nom nom nom nom nom.
The internal sounds made by the chewing of a hot pocket didn't resound throughout the room, but through his eardrums Mettaliar enjoyed the sound along with the taste. Pepporoni hot pocket's were a good meal for a lonely guy with nothing to do and nowhere to go. Instead of remaining his room as usual, he decided to check out the living room, especially the television. Since he had no television in his room and rarely ever got the money for one, only newspapers were the only way to keep up with anything, other then the occasional small talk with others around the mansion and city. His lifestyle made those rare, though, and he didn't like jumping in on other peoples conversations just to feel like he's learning something or getting attention.
Sitting down on a large sofa, he put his meal down and picked up a large remote control. At that point he realized that he had not checked out the channel selection of the mansion the entire time he was living here. Flipping on the television, he started flipping through the channels to see what was on. The usual news came on, Fox 5, CNN... meh. The ultimate sign of nothing catching his interest; weirdly enough, his searching stopped on the SyFy channel, showing a rerun of their "It" movie interpretation. This was a movie Mettaliar had seen a thousand times, at least one specific part of it. The scene with the giant spider. Of course, this was the scene that happened to be the starting point when Mettaliar stopped to watch. He sighed, contemplated, then put the remote down and picked up his food.
At least it's something that'll hold my interest for some time.
The sounds of chewing rang through his eardums again in a few seconds, his mind trailing off about a giant spider, a plot he might never know about and how he might just want another hot pocket at the commercial break.

Free time, Andrew had some at the moment. Sam didn't need him, for now, and Jack was sleeping so he wouldn't be playing with the dog. It was far too early to bake and Andrew didn't feel like reading. That pretty much left the TV. So Andrew headed toward the living room. Andrew didn't watch much TV all told. When he did it was either the news or something science fiction. He liked the space ships and weird looking aliens and what not. Like a lot of other things it wasn't something he talked about unless asked. No one asked so he could happily be as close to a nerd as he was willing to get without anyone teasing him about it. Unless Jorge found out somehow. Then he was doomed.
Upon entering the room Andrew noticed a few things. The TV was on and on the SyFy channel already. Not only that but there was a guy on the sofa. Just guessing from what he could see the guy was around the same height as Andrew was. He had black hair and eyes of that odd indeterminate shade that constituted hazel most of the time but looked more green for the moment. Aside from this guy being not quite as thin as Andrew himself was and the hair color they probably could have passed for brothers. It was strange suddenly seeing someone so like himself on the sofa. Andrew walked over to a chair near the sofa and sat down.
"Hey. What's on?"
Andrew hadn't paid much attention to what was on the TV until now. He didn't recognize it immediately but SyFy would probably blaze it across the screen come the commercial break. TV stations were handy like that.

Mettaliar heard someone coming from and did his best to keep chewing even though his mouth always stayed closed. He always had a worry of disturbing people or seeming like a slob; he took care of himself and learned a decent amount of how to be proper and all of that. It wasn't for him, as some predicted, it was to make sure he could never offend a stranger or acquaintance. With the little amount of friends he did have, it'd be bad to drive any potential ones away for a little common decency.
When the man turned and sat in the chair, Mettaliar had a little flash of deja vu, though only for a millisecond. The eyes, clothing slight build of the guy gave Mettaliar a slight impression of himself, though the hair and facial features were enough to not be compelled to ask if he lived in New Jersey and had a long lost brother in some way; neither his mom or him had auburn hair. Mettaliar swallowed his bite calmly when the man asked what was on. Mettaliar chuckled and tried to put a joking spin on the answer, a favorite of his to make good first impressions, especially to potential housemates.
"It's the cheap movie version of Stephen King's 'It.' I've seen this part of the movie to the end maybe, I dunno, a million times but have never caught it at the beginning. I'd be luckier to get the motivation to read the book rather then try and watch this whole thing; which would actually probably be a good idea. I've heard this movie isn't all that good and the book... I'm sure you know of it's reputation." Mettaliar looked through his hair and gave a welcoming smile to the guy, taking another bite of his meal.
Seems like a good guy, hope he's up for a little small talk.

It, huh? It had been a while since he'd seen that movie. Probably why he didn't recognize it right from the off. That and he never saw all of it, just parts of it.
"I haven't seen all of it before. I generally end up catching it when it has already been on for a little while and I end up channel surfing away before it finishes. Never read the book."
Andrew smiled back at the other man. He was friendly. Then again he hadn't met anyone at the mansion that was outright rude.
"I'm Andrew by the way. Mansion resident, assistant to Sam, and mutant obviously."
For now he'd keep his mutation obscured. If he asked then Andrew would answer. Until then he didn't feel like saying anything. It was habit to not reveal it right away. Even with his friends here at the Mansion he wasn't entirely comfortable admitting to it. Being a mutant was fine but his exact mutation was still rather awkward to discuss. Not least because simple explanations didn't really cover it well.

Mettaliar chuckled at the first line that came out of the man, named Andrew's, mouth. Another similarity in them; Mettaliar seemed happy he found someone like that. Chewing quickly to try and down the food, Mettaliar nodded his head with wide eyes to try and show he knew what Andrew was talking about. Always jumping into the middle of a particular movie always was interesting, especially if it were the first viewing of said movie. Always trying to guess the plot, having no idea what's going on... an interesting hobby Mettaliar liked to do.
"The ending isn't something worth missing, though I do want to see some of the beginning scenes at some point; would help remind me how overall this movie isn't really about a giant spider... thing," He had heard of how good the book was over and over through others but never really felt like actually taking the time to read it; overall, unless it was political of philosophical in some sense, Mettaliar rarely had an interest in reading. It just wasn't a hobby he had picked up growing up at home. He'd rather sit at a desk and compose instead.
"Name's Mettaliar; a pleasure to meet you. I'm just a resident here, hopeful to join Sam on some of his missions and such, It's one way for paying back for living here for so long." Mettaliar didn't know how much was too much to tell about himself right off the bat. He was always one to wait for topics to be brought up or questions to be asked; he was always indecisive with what to talk about with newer people and it lead to a lot of awkward silences. "How's it like working for Sam?" That, at the very least, was something Mettaliar became very interested in with this Andrew fellow.

He nodded in response to the man's opinion on the movie. Andrew was sure it was worth seeing. He just never bothered to do so. The guy, Mettaliar, was also a resident and mentioned something about missions with Sam. He was one of the X-Men? Well that was interesting. It was always nice to find out who was a member as opposed to simply a student or just living there. At the question about working with Sam, Andrew shrugged.
"Honestly right now it's pretty average. I handle paperwork and do the whole greeter thing. I guess it frees him up for other things."
That was that. It wasn't precisely exciting. He hadn't had any adventures with the man besides the day they'd met. That hadn't been much of an adventure. Sam had done all the fighting. Though Andrew had gotten a scar out of it. The channel lapsed into commercials just then, providing a new audio backdrop for conversation. The only problem being Andrew wasn't entirely sure what to say.
On one hand he sort of wanted to ask about that statement about missions. However doing that would expose his interest in the subject. Andrew wasn't ready to discuss that so he decided to let the matter lie. Mettaliar could come up with the next question.

Mettaliar nodded and took another bite of his meal, leaving just about one more left. He heard out Andrew's explanation of his time being Sam's assistant. It seemed simple enough; seemed like just the thing an X-Men head needed. He remembered back when he first moved in and it was Tricity who welcomed him in. He had seen her maybe once or twice since then but from what he could remember he didn't blame her, she seemed quite busy. This guy seemed like the kind he would like to be welcomed into a new home from, at least from the first impression he gave off.
"Well, it's probably more eventful than being stuck in a room or training all day. At least from my experience. This is one of the few times I'm actually caught in another room of the mansion; we both have some interesting timing, Andrew." He finished his sentence with a laugh, surprised himself that the day he checks out the television he ends up meeting someone new. Maybe I should try that more often. He broke his internal though when he noticed Andrew had decided to keep quiet for a bit. Feeling a bit uneasy, Mettaliar tried to search for what to ask, his worst feature. Hung up on nothing, Mettaliar decided to ask the usual question for an acquaintance.
"So what do you do in your off time? I'm sure you have other hobbies than following Sam all day?" Using a sarcastic tone, he was hoping to get to know Andrew more. He seemed like a decent guy, after all. Dang, I hope I don't bore him too much or anything.

His shoulder rose in a shrug. Training all day didn't sound too bad to him. It was active and you were working toward improving yourself.
"Papers get kind of dull after a while. Though meeting new people constantly is nice. Over all I'd love to train more."
Conveniently enough Mettaliar asked about his hobbies.
"Does having a knack for finding trouble count as a hobby? If so then that's my hobby."
Andrew sort of grinned. He had managed to find all sorts of trouble. More thugs and what not than he cared to count, bread dough abominations the day before Halloween, or being dropped out a window by a man with very large hands; they were all decent examples of the trouble he tended to run into. Andrew just figured it was a mutant thing and went with it now.
"If you wanted something a bit more normal then I guess you could say boxing. Though that's just a product of the other. I got a little tired of being overpowered."
He chuckled. That was putting it mildly. He'd gone from victim to aspiring hero fairly quickly. As for his other hobby, well he wasn't about to tell Mettaliar that he baked daily.

Mettaliar raised his left eyebrow at the interesting "hobby" Andrew seemed to have. Finding trouble was something Mettaliar was familiar with, though not as much anymore. Recently he'd only have trouble with his music; writers block really can bring a composition to a halt. It had been a long time since he had actually found himself in a real fight and he only took the time then to be curious of whether or not this was a good or bad thing. He liked not running into crazy mutants every other day but for all the trouble he went through training it seemed pointless if he never used that training to help anybody. For what it was though, given the mutants he had fought in the past, he left it as a good thing that he wasn't looking for fights. He wasn't confident in his fighting skill and feared of the off-chance of a bad fight with a mutant.
"Well, considering the amount of time I spend in the Danger Room, you're always welcome to come train with me. I've always liked to have someone accompany me." Mettaliar looked over to the guy with a friendly smile; it'd be interesting to train with someone else, whether sparring or doing a co-op task. Mettaliar had to get used to not trying to do missions alone and had to learn to work as a team. Sam was good at conveying that message when he had Mettaliar go through that simulation all that time ago. Now, Mettaliar needed to work on it himself. Quite a paradox.
I did a bit of boxing and some other defense techniques. I compose music, by the way, as a hobby outside of training. It's the one thing I do in my room besides sleep and eat, actually," finishing off that last part with a chuckle. "Surrounding myself with music is a decent lifestyle, I suppose. Either playing or composing is irrelevant. Though I guess today my muse hasn't kicked in, hence me actually checking out the channels in the mansion. Wow... almost six years and only now I'm finding out." While he did say it out loud, Mettaliar really wished it had been an internal thought. He never knew how people would react when they knew how long he'd actually been a resident.
