The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"Thanks, but I have been able to do this all my life. It's nothing special."
"Oh, it is all kinds of special." Gemma smirked. It really was. Those little spoders were cleaning up the tree with amazing speed and in an orderly fashion.
>>"What kind of information?"
"Anything you want to tell me that makes me trust you with the life and safety of my students" she smiled, sitting down on the couch "I don't usually pry unless I really have to, but I need a good reason to let people in unsupervised. Or maybe you can tell me which one of the mansion rsidents would be willing to vouch for you."
"Anything you want to tell me that makes me trust you with the life and safety of my students"
Her nose wrinkled in the usual manner, and she huffed to herself. Being twenty three, she figured she knew most things- (even if she had dropped out of highschool) - and had the world pretty much figured out. Of course day to day life had a way of proving her wrong most of the time, but she had gotten fairly good at ignoring it when that happened. Her inner self told her to take her spiders and make a break for it... but, part of her didn't want to let go of the mansion just yet.
The option of blurting out names was ever present, but... in all honesty she doubted that any of those people would vouch for her. With a sigh, she gave in. "Well.. there's not much to say. I make spiders and control them.." ...What else was there...? 'Hi... I'm Megan, I like long walks on the beach... and if you let me into this place you'll most likely come to regret it.' Probably not the best thing to say.
"I like hanging around here... because people are nice to me." She blinked, wondering if taking the time and effort to burst into tears would be worth it. "... and because you have a killer pool."

>>"Well.. there's not much to say. I make spiders and control them. I like hanging around here... because people are nice to me... and because you have a killer pool."
"I can't argue with that" Gemma grinned. The pool was indeed something, although she hadn't had time to try it yet, since she arrived in the fall. Which meant, this girl had been sneaking in here for quite a while. Interesting.
"So, you make the spiders too?" she asked curiously "How does that work?"
She wanted to know, for a variety of reasons. First of all, she was curious. Second, she had to look out for a bunch of mutant children, and not all of them were big fans of spiders. She also had to find out if any of those little creatures were poisinous... and how they affected Charlotte herself. She did not like the idea of looking out for every single spider in the Mansion from now on.
Megan nodded, and smirked. "I make every single last one of them..."
Turning, she pulled back the collar of her dress and lifted her hair. Beneath the black hair and the red cloth her skin was dotted with dozens of red, scabbed over spots. They were fresh, some from the batch she had created earlier in the day, while others were from the batch currently de-webbing the tree.
"They come from my skin. They are a part of me, as I am a part of them."
Releasing her grip on the hair and her cloths, she tilted her head towards the tree. One silent command was sent out, and every spider stopped what it had been doing to stare at her. Dozens of little reflective blue eyes peered out from the shadows of the trees branches.
"We share our thoughts... too." ...as well as eye color... and sometimes temperament.
