The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Say, why do you call him darling, i thought he had a-"
"Technicality; Door!"
The kid on the other side of the intercom grumbled something under his breath, and the door s swung open. Megan merrily skipped her way into the mansion, peeking around the corner of the door to check if the coast was clear before she launched Operation: Grinchmas. She could hear a few people off in the distance, but honestly on a weekend in the middle of the day most kiddies were out galavanting around with friends. 'Friends... Blegh.'
The very word left a bad taste in her mouth. Megan let herself in the rest of the way and closed the door behind her, blue eyes shifting this way and that as she tried to figure out where her target would be located. Now, most people put Christmas trees in their living rooms, or off in hallways adjacent... this place was huge, and she had only even been in certain parts of it. There was no way she would have time to search all by her lonesome. " Kay guys, you're up to bat."
She picked the velvet Santa hat she was wearing off of her head and shook her passengers out of it. Thirty or so small black spiders tumbled to the ground, then skittered off in different directions. Megan watched then go, before she turned her attention to the living room Gawain had sat her down in when she had first come to the school. She heard soft whispers as her children explored, 'not here', 'nothing here', 'Dog! Dog! do-', one went silent. Megan wrinkled her nose and adjusted her hand sewn Santa suit. As she entered the living room, she spotted the tree all dressed up in lights and tinsel. She took a moment to sent out a retreat signal, then skipped cheerfully over to inspect what kind of goodies had been laid out for her to prey upon. She found a bowl full of candy canes first, and snatched one up, then another for good measure.
But when she plopped down in front of the tree, she noticed that it lacked presents... or any gifty type thing. "Who puts up a tree without presents?" All of the memories she repressed from home told her that this was not correct. Someone must have assumed snoopy people wouldn't be able to keep their twitchy hands to themselves... or nobody put gifts under trees anymore in public places. With her spiders trinkling into the room, she felt bitterness well up and nodded at the tree. The spiders got her message and set to work jumping onto branches, leaving silk behind them as they tracked their way though branch after branch, after branch. She frowned, watching as they slowly started to cover the tree in web, then pouted and slapped a little glass ornament from a branch. A bad move, seeing as it shattered upon impact with the floor. 'oh shi-'
She thought she heard something and stood quickly. There was no where really to run, nor hide. "...uh...."

Gemma spend most of the pervious day with Operation: Christmas tree; it was quite a huge tree, and a real one too, the kids who had to spend Christams in the school deserved the best. She decorated it herself, with the help of some students, but she did't let anyone put their presents there yet; she knew kids better than to have them eyeballing the boxes for the next two weeks or so. She was in the kitchen now, cleaning up after finishing another incredible amount of cookies; they seemed to disappear from the kitchen by magic as soon as she made them, and she suspected there were mutant powers at work there. Oh, well. Cookies were meant to be eaten. Glass, on the other hand, was not supposed to be broken. Not off the tree, anyway.
Walking into the living room, Gemma arched an eyebrow at the strange girl who was dressed as an early Santa.
"Can I help you?" she asked kindly, walking closer to the girl, using her aura to prevent the guest from surprising her with some display of potential mutant powers. Then, she glanced at the tree.
Who did her eyes happen to fall on but an unknown woman who stunk of holiday cookies and... what was that, cheer?! Poison! She shifted anxiously, sifting though a few prepared stories, before she fell short and sputtered. "..uh..." 'Real smart... way to go!' She patted herself on the back, and tried again.
"Nope, I was actually just on my way ou-" "..Are those spiders?"
Megan turned, as if she had no idea what the woman was talking about, and nodded. " Yep, those appear to be spiders. No idea as to where they came from tho-" The lady stepped closer to her, and all of the sudden Megan felt something that she hadn't felt in a while. The buzzing in her head from her babies chattering amongst themselves vanished, and a second later she succumbed to helpless giggling as a waterfall of spiders scattered from her clothing in all directions. She stood there, wide eyed as the little creatures made for all of the dark crevices in the room, and tapped her fingers on her thighs guiltily.
"...eh..." Well, there went her lie... instead, she straightened her back and raised her hand out for a handshake. "Charlotte, At your service, Ma'am." If you couldn't fool them, try to join them.

>>"Yep, those appear to be spiders. No idea as to where they came from tho-"
More spiders. A lot more. Gemma's eyes widened in shock as an incredible amount of arachnids poured out from the girl's dress and scattered around the room. Apparently, that was the effect of her powers nulling the effects of the girl's powers. Hmmm.
>>"...eh... Charlotte, At your service, Ma'am."
"Nice to meet you, Charlotte" Gemma smirked, shaking her hand firmly "Gemma Taylor. I'm the guidance counselor here. And you... you are not one of my students." she said, tilting her head "Are you just moving in?"
Was she just moving in? "Well, sort of... I haven't really... er... talked to anyone yet." Partially the truth, partially a lie. Most people never knew the difference. "I have been visiting a... fr- frie-...friend... here for a while now.
Well, that word had only burned half as much as it used too. She would have to fix that later. Right now, she needed to figure out what the hell she was going to do. Gawainya and that other kid were really the only people she had spoken too in the school... oh wait, no, there was that other guy too.. er... Ga-something. He had worked there too, so she could always use him as an alibi.
Gemma seemed a little shocked, but not enough to scare her, by the spider charade. Megan wondered if she had children, as an immunity to creepy crawlies seemed to follow those with snot nosed brats. If it came down to a sink or swim decision, she would need to think of something other than threatening her with arachnids. Maybe a swift kick in her old lady shin, and then bolt for the door. "Do all students have to live on the grounds?"

>>"Well, sort of... I haven't really... er... talked to anyone yet. I have been visiting a... fr- frie-...friend... here for a while now... Do all students have to live on the grounds?"
"Nah" Gemma shook her head with a smirk "We have quite a few who just come in for school. Then again, there are many kids who don't have anywhere else to go, because of their mutations, or other reasons." she explained, looking around. The Christmas tree was covered in webs pretty well. There were still quite a few spiders visible here and there, and she was really hoping there were not many kids around to freak out about that. They had had bug problems before, but seeing the tree like this... she knew Christmas would never be the same.
"So, is this your speciality?" she asked, nodding at the tree "Do you control spiders?"
So... one didn't have yo live at the school then. Which made it okay that she just showed up? "That's.... good to know." ... somehow... that took all of the fun out of things. Maybe she was under the wrong impression though, hopefully. Megan glanced back at the tree the same time Gemma did and blinked. WOW. Her kids worked fast. She squinted ruefully, and frowned. much faster than she had ordered them too before she lost control.
"So, is this your speciality?..Do you control spiders?"
Her eyes darted back to the counselor, and she blinked before nodding slowly. Despite wanting it too, a wicked little smile lit up her face. "I do... Among other things." Of course, ask her to spit web or birth a brood of spiders now, and she'd be a pretty big disappointment.
But, onto lighter subjects. Megan was interested in this whole living on campus thing... "Say, Gemma, what does it take to become a student and move in here?" Sure... she already had a place, but there was always the possibility that she would anger her new buggy roommate somehow and be forced to go into hiding. What better a place than a school chalk full of innocent bystanders?

>> "Say, Gemma, what does it take to become a student and move in here?"
"Depends" she andwered, not amused by the girl using her first name at all. She clearly had issues with respecting her elders. Oh well. Many kids did.
"We need to fill out a bunch of forms about you, open a file, find you a room, make you a schedule... and of course, we keep an eye on everyone, making sure they do not cause any trouble." she added, folding her arms. She smirked at the girl who called herself Charlotte.
"So, Charlotte. What brings you here, besides visiting a friend?" she asked "Or you just decided to add your own decorations to the tree?..."
Fill out forms? Information about her? Apply for a schedule? Be Nice? None of those things sounded appealing to her, as a matte of fact it sounded like work! And she already had a job!... nor was she really all that interested in going back to school. Megan folded her arms in the same manner Gemma had, and blinked. "Well, I guess that cancels me out. I'm not really looking for something so complicated... or personal." Come to think of it, she had never really had to do much when it came to living somewhere... her last roommate had just let her move in. As had her current one. She forgot how lucky she was, sometimes.
"So, Charlotte. What brings you here, besides visiting a friend? Or you just decided to add your own decorations to the tree?..."
She shrugged, turning back to the tree behind her which was still pretty infested with spiders. Some of which has begun eating other spiders. Megan frowned, and considered stepping away from the woman- but figured it probably wouldn't change anything. "What can I say? I'm a grinch. Besides, that tree was much too happy, and aren't the holidays all about everybody putting a little bit of their own touch on the tree?" Or at least... that's what she thought the custom was... it might have changed in the time she'd been away from home. "I just added a little bit of Charlotte to it." And, if she hadn't been interrupted, she probably would have added a little bit of Charlotte to the couch, and the tables, and the windows...

>>"What can I say? I'm a grinch. Besides, that tree was much too happy, and aren't the holidays all about everybody putting a little bit of their own touch on the tree? I just added a little bit of Charlotte to it."
"A little bit, yes" Gemma smirked, arching an eyebrow at her. That amount of spiderwebs... that was way more than 'a little'. "They tell me spiders bring good luck at Christmas... but I doubt we need this much luck here." she sighed and looked at her.
"Well, dear grinch, you have been caught. Since you are not a Mansion resident, I can't send you to detention." she noted "But I can make sure you never get in here ever again, unless you are willing to help me clean up this mess." she added "And let you get the spiders out of here, since I guess you don't really want them all... um, cleaned out another way."
She was not really big on killing off animals that belonged to someone's mutation, after all.
Well, that was something she had never heard before... Spiders? Lucky? Well, in a way she figured that they had always brought her luck, but she had just assumed that it was because she was special.
The admission that she couldn't be sent to detention made her smirk right back at the lady. A smirk that was immediately washed away by the threat of being banned from the mansion. What a horrible way for her fun to be ruined! How was she supposed to bug all of her favorite mansionites... She clenched her jaw for a moment, ready to throw her nose in the air and stomp her way out of the building- until a counter offer was presented.
If she helped to clean up, she could stay? Icy eyes narrowed suspiciously, and she stared at the woman for a few moments. If she said no, she'd be banned from the mansion forever- most likely, and if she said yes, she'd have to remove all of the beautiful work her babies had done...
Then again, they were in the process of cannibalizing each other. They probably wouldn't care about the web that much. "Deal." She announced, grinning despite herself. "I will have them clean up the tree, and then I will have them go outside." Turning her eyes back at the tree, she paused. "You will have to undo whatever witchy trick you have going on right now... because they'd sooner attack me currently, then obey me."
As if to justify her admission, one of the spiders closest to her raise up its front legs and danced a little, a typical show of spider aggression... which only serves to make it all the more cuter.

>>"Deal. I will have them clean up the tree, and then I will have them go outside. You will have to undo whatever witchy trick you have going on right now... because they'd sooner attack me currently, then obey me."
"Sounds good to me." Gemma nodded; the main task was to clean up the tree before the kids saw it like that and freaked; everything else could wait. Taking two steps back, she grinned at the girl, folding her arms.
"There you go, Charlotte." she nodded "The witchy trick is gone. Just for your education, it's not actually a trick, it is an aura. My ability is to cancel out mutant powers." she smirked as she walked over to the couch to sit and observe - but not before she inspected the couch for stray spiders. She found none. They must have been too busy with the tree.
"That's what makes me the ideal person for dealing with mutant teenagers." she added in a casual tone. "So, you said you have friends in the Mansion?"
Gemma stepped away, and the familiar buzzing of spider voices in her head returned. Her arms and legs tingled with the energy of life beneath the surface, and she shivered happily. It felt good to have her babies back... she hadn't realized how much she really missed them. She took a long look at the woman in front of her, arms crossed and grinning, and frowned ever so slightly. so...motherly. Blech. "Thanks.." The woman's comment about how her power worked left Megan feeling uncertain. What kind of a mutant stopped other peoples mutations from working? It was just... wrong. Not to mention scary.
Her spiderlings stopped what they were doing, many mid chomp on a fellow arachnid. Those of which were eating their kin recoiled in spider horror, jumping and dancing way from half drained husks of their brethren. Many flailed their small legs in panic, understanding only minimally what they had done, while others stared at their guilty pedipalps in disbelief, thinking 'WHHYYY!? In a spider like way. Megan felt a pang of sympathy in her chest for them. Her small, beloved creations... But she squashed it with a cold, heartless fist before the feeling could manifest any further. This was no time to weep and moan!
"Pull yourself together Cadets! This isn't daycare!" She clicked her heels together, straightening her back and laying her hands on her hips. Her children turned to face her, raising up on their tippy toes with their front legs raised and at attention like they had been trained to do. Megan nodded, satisfied. "Alright Maggots! We have a mission today. Our mission is to eradicate all of the web from this tree." She turned, and paced back and forth in front of them, waiting for her order to sink in. The spiders, who were greatly confused by the order, turned and looked at each other questioningly. Take down the web?... but they had just put it up... and it was so preeetty.
Megan stopped pacing, and directed a glare over the visible spiders. "Are you questioning your order's?!" The small black creatures jumped a little, and scurried back to work- this time removing all of the web they had strung up. With a little smirk, Megan crossed her arms, and watched. They were such good little babies...
"So, you said you have friends in the Mansion?"
her back stiffened and she drummed her fingers on her arm. Was it any of her business who she had been referring to?...no, she didn't think so. She resisted the urge to turn and do a lot of angry finger pointing, coupled with a few not so nice words directed at nosiness. She knew it was mainly her defense mechanism kicking in, due to someone prying for information she did not readily want to give. "....Acquaintances, really. I was perhaps a bit to hasty with the F word." A truth... she couldn't honestly call any of the people she had met at the mansion friends. They were merely sources of entertainment, for when she was bored. She blinked, her fingers stilling, and shifted her attention to a few spiders who were dusting off a web coated ornament. She could see a distorted reflection of herself standing there, decked out in Christmas cheer, and scowled. With an irritated swipe, she pulled off her santa hat and tucked it into her belt.

>>"Pull yourself together Cadets! This isn't daycare! Alright Maggots! We have a mission today. Our mission is to eradicate all of the web from this tree. Are you questioning your order's?!"
Gemma watched in amazement as the girl ordered her tiny army of arachnids around; just like many other mutant abilities, this was one truly fascinating. She smiled; something about how she bossed the spiders around and how she did not take no bs from the tiny creatures reminded herself... of herself. Minus the experience and wisdom that came with age and motherhood.
"Excellent job" she smiled, watching the webs disappear "That's an A plus for leadership. I wish all my students would clean up like that..."
>>"....Acquaintances, really. I was perhaps a bit to hasty with the F word. Friends are for losers anyway."
"If you say so" Gemma shrugged "Anyway, if you are going to keep visiting, that's fine by me. I just need to know a few things about you. It's not really official though, it's just me." she smirked at her. She could have said it was standard procedure, that it was official; but she did not want to. Charlotte looked independent and strong, and that made the Mansion's Mother kind of curious about her. Also, kind of curious about the friends she had in there. Potential student or not, some questions were worth asking.
Uurgh.. More aggravating questions. More prying. She turned, leaving her spiders to their work, but remained a good distance away from Gemma. Had she not complimented her, Megan might had rolled her eyes. But... an A plus, was an A plus... and she had never before earned one of those. Perhaps... there would be a gold star sticker next?
"Thanks, but I have been able to do this all my life." There might have been a hint of a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips, but she managed to hold it down. "It's nothing special." The idea of any of the things she leaked about herself being not 'official' made her narrow her eyes. She wasn't stupid enough to believe that anythings he said would remain between the two of them... and yet, at the same time. All of her mid day fun hinged on bugging a certain mirror walker. Her lips descended into a frown.
"What kind of information?" She questioned, turning to see if her babies were done yet. The bulk of the web was swept away, rolled into balls of varying sizes, which the spiders were hooking together at the end of one long branch. Little bits of white webbing clung to the ends of branches, as well as the glitter on select ornaments. They would get to those though, it was only a matter of time.
