The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kate looked herself over in the mirror, this was her first ever Music lesson and she wanted to look the part of the responsible and all knowing teacher. She had put on a simple dress with matching shoes and cardigan. She was trying to determine weather to wear her hair up or down and decided on up in the interest of Jude better understanding her if there was no hair in her face.
Kate threw her music bag over her shoulder and pined her hair up as she headed down to the music room on the first floor.
Upon arrival, Kate set up the piano just the way she wanted it and waited for her young student to arrive.
Up on the top bunk of Johnny's bed, there were four boys all huddled around a set of miniature cards. A pile of various odds and ends was in the middle and each boy had his own pile next to him. Pretzels, foreign coins, pictures, rings, barrettes, a shoe... the pot was getting serious.
"You are just saying zat so I must forfeit."
"No man, it's like 4:15." He looked worried so Jude dug through the pile until he found the Mickey Mouse watch someone had bet down earlier.
"Oh no!"
He grabbed his shirt and left sock from the pot and was off the top bunk faster than you could say 'One Mississippi.' The boys snickered a the tiny Frenchman's hasty retreat and one even called after him from stealing from his potential winnings... that was until he realized that Jude had left the rest of his pile.
He had to hop awkwardly to get his sock back on and still keep moving forward. He trampled down the stairs and sliiiiiid across the tile until he slid past his music lesson room. That wasn't his fault though, because he had been pulling his shirt on over his head at the time. No shoes, just barely dressed, Jude made it to his lesson a mere 16 minutes late.
"Miz teacher madame, I can explain..." but, really... he couldn't. Not without incriminating his poker mates. "I. uhm. fell asleep?"
Kate looked at the clock on the wall. 12 minutes late. Maybe he had forgotten or he was just late. Whatever it was Kate was not going to waste this great opportunity to practice.
Kate ran through her chromatic scale up and down the piano about 10 times getting faster each time before she closed the Piano for Beginners book to the side and pulled out a yellow book on which were printed the words Schirmer’s Library of Musical Classics Chopin Etudes For the Piano in large green letters. She put it on the stand and opened to Opus 10 No. 4. This was the fifth time she had practiced with this one, something she ahd been doing almost none stop in her free time since she had sent in her application to Julliard in November.
Kate took a moment to place her hands and push down the right peddles in preparation for the piece. She took a deep breath and started.
Her fingers moved quickly and gracefully across the keys as if they were doing a dance. She got lost in the music as the notes seemed to dance around her as she played. She hit the run and…
>>Miz teacher madame, I can explain...I. uhm. fell asleep?
Kate almost didn’t hear him over the noise of the piano and didn’t even look at him as she spoke. She was hell bent on getting through the whole piece even with the distraction of Jude. She was so close now. Only 2 pages left.
“That’s fine you game me an opportunity to practice my one of my pieces. Any opportunity to practice is greatly appreciated.” Kate ran down her final set of runs and finished off the song with a flourish of her hand.
She sat like that for a few moments before she moved to close her music, move the beginner’s book back to the center of the piano, and turned back to face Jude with a smile.
The sound was beautiful. This was why Sebastian had insisted he learn, no doubt. So that he could have some of that beauty inside of himself.
That didn't make him any less nervous when his teacher, his pretty GIRL teacher stopped playing and simply sat in the afterglow of what she had done. Oh geez. What did that mean? Was she contemplating his demise? How she would hit his fingers or make him wash her car as punishment or something?
He didn't trust her smile. It was... sweet. People weren't sweet when you wasted their time.
"Will I be playing zat?" He narrowed his eyes slightly. Girls could possibly fall for a man that could play something like that. Musicians had women dripping off of them. This could really change his fate.
“Oh goodness no. You don’t even know how to play a simple piece let alone…” Kate laughed at her small student and gestured for him to join her on the bench, “We are going to start with the basics.” She pulled out a practice book for him that started with hand position and the middle note register, “The fundamentals are after all the foundation to any instrument.”
Ah there is was. The laughter he had expected from the beginning. Jude frowned at his attractive teacher. No matter how young a man he may be, having anyone as pretty as Ms. Piano Teacher laugh was a blow to his very manly ego. Cutesy dinosaur shirt aside, Jude did have a very manly ego.
"Basics. Right." He muttered to himself as he climbed onto the bench.
He eyeballed the book and it's all too clear illustrations, gave a quick and hopefully unnoticeable sniff at each armpit and then put his hands on the piano in an exact mimic of the illustration. He was a good little boy and he would prove it with a straight back and good form. Yes. At this rate and with this attitude, he would play music like she did earlier in no time.
