The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Cutting class is a habit that dies hard, if it dies at all. Or at least, that was the truth in Gawain's experience, who once again found math boring and unimportant, and decided not to attend class. Sam would naturally find out, and he would naturally have to send more time in the DR - as long as 'more' was still humanly possible, which was not far from the current situation.
Instead of math, Gawain managed to set up a Wii console that he discoeverd lying around, and connect it to the tv set in the living room. That was real neat like that. Now all that was left was someone to play with (because Gawain was not a huge fan of games if he had to play them alone.)
He stood in the living room, looking around. Yeah, great idea, genius. Set up a game when everyone else is in class. Because where else would they be? Gawain knew he was not the only one cutting class from time to time... but right now, he seemed to be alone.
Kate rarely went to class. She went to Sam's class for medical reasons and that was about it. She really had no want or need to sit in a room and listen to teachers prattle on about things she already knew. There really was no point to it. It was a waste of time that could be spent doing things like reading or playing piano or a plethora of other activities.
This is what Kate was doing today. It was a random idol Tuesday and her friends were in class, she had just had lunch and now she was on the hunt. She had finished another book the night before and had no other in mind, and she had already practiced her piano for the day, so now there was the task to find something to do.
She headed up stairs to start. She felt like changing into something a little warmer. She had been a little chilly all morning and as her mother had always taught her she should warm up if she was cold. She threw on a dress, a pair of tights and a pair of boots and headed down to the living room to watch a movie or some such thing. She greatly enjoyed the comfort of the room over that of her own.
She entered to find a very familiar face who seemed to be skipping class as well, "Hello Gawain," maybe this wouldn't be such a boring day after all.
"Hey there Princess." he greeted her, looking at her dress and shoes. The girl sure did know how to dress. "Goin' out for another date?"
Maybe she was. Then again, he didn't know about anyone who would take her out, not on a schoolday morning anyway. Or maybe he just missed something.
"So, ya're not interested in going to class either" he observed with a smirk as he turned the Wii set on once again "I set this up for playing, but everyone seems to be busy with school. So, if there isn't a prince waitin' for you outside on a white horse, would you like to play?"
"Why would you think that?" Sometimes Kate didn't understand the way Gawain's mind jumped to conclusions, "It's the middle of the day. Though I suppose it could be a lunch date if everyone I knew wasn't in class or well skipping it in your case."
>>So, ya're not interested in going to class either
"I actually find these classes to be unnecessary, as I have already learned the curriculum. Why should I be forced to sit and listen to something I already know? It's a waste of my time. I could be doing far more important things."
>>I set this up for playing, but everyone seems to be busy with school. So, if there isn't a prince waitin' for you outside on a white horse, would you like to play?
Kate looked at the white box and wondered what he meant by play. It didn't seem like it could possible be big enough to hold any kind of game, "What are we going to play?"
>>"Why would you think that? It's the middle of the day. Though I suppose it could be a lunch date if everyone I knew wasn't in class or well skipping it in your case."
Gawain arched an eyebrow. Maybe it was her everyday outfit after all. "No particular reason at all" he grinned "And hey, how do you know I have class?..." That was a rhetorical question. Of course.
>>"I actually find these classes to be unnecessary, as I have already learned the curriculum. Why should I be forced to sit and listen to something I already know? It's a waste of my time. I could be doing far more important things."
He actually opened his mouth a couple of times before he answered. The concept of cutting class before you already knew everything taght in there was just... dorky. "Well... good for you, princess." he smirked, and turned back to the game. >>"What are we going to play?"
"Whatever we want" he said, turning the Wii set on "Sports, mostly. How about... um, tennis?" he said, handing one of the controllers to Kate "Have you played this before?"
>>Whatever we want. Sports, mostly. How about... um, tennis? Have you played this before?
"Um...I play Tennis all the time but I can honestly say that I have never played quite like this before." Kate watched as the Wii menu appeared on the screen with even more confusion. How were you going to play a sport on a television? Kate tried to figure out how this was going to work but came up with a blank, "Well...Do I need a racket? I can't imagine we can actaully shoot balls at the television." Kate chose to give up on figuring it out and gave Gawain a rather confused look.
>>"Um...I play Tennis all the time but I can honestly say that I have never played quite like this before. Well...Do I need a racket? I can't imagine we can actaully shoot balls at the television."
Gawain grinned, and almost laughed at Kate; he bit the laughter back though, he didn't want her to think he was making fun of her. He was being serious about the game, but apparently, she didn't even know how it worked.
"Nah, we're not shooting balls at the television. Here" he tossed one of the controllers at her, hoping she'd catch "We use these, and... well, the rest is on the screen."
He started the game; he moved the controller to show her how it worked.
"Don' worry I've only played once or twice before, so I only know the basics. But it's fun. Try it."
>>Nah, we're not shooting balls at the television. Here
Kate examined the oddly shaped and squishy white rubber thing. What was she supposed to do with this?
>>We use these, and... well, the rest is on the screen.
Kate watched absorbing Gawain's movements as he went. It was not much different from playing real tennis. You had to follow the ball, just like in real tennis. You had to 'connect' with the ball, just like in real tennis. You even had to hit is as to avoid the net and keep in in bounds. The rules were the same it was just on a television instead of on a court.
>>Don' worry I've only played once or twice before, so I only know the basics. But it's fun. Try it
Kate stepped up and tried realizing quickly that it was a little harder then real tennis and her skills were not going to help her much.
"Again." Kate lost the first game but she was just getting warmed up.
"What, I thought it'd be harder to beat ya" Gawain grinned once the first match was over; he'd never been good at official sports like tennis "Rich girls play this all the time, don' they?"
She was learning; she was not so good at first, but wii was designed for anyone to learn it quickly, so it shouldn't take long for her either. She was smiling; she was getting excited. Gawain smiled too; cutting class was so much more fun if you had someone to share the experience with.
"So, not a date, huh? What 'bout the guy who took you to that concert? The dress didn't do the magic?..."
He didn't mean to sound rude; he was just teasing her. He knew she looked amazing all the time, and he also knew she could easily be distracted from the game. Which lead more playing, of course.
>>What, I thought it'd be harder to beat ya. Rich girls play this all the time, don' they?
Gawain always had a way of keeping Kate smiling and laughing and after the weird events in the past week she was in need of some laughs, "Actually I do play tennis all the time when it is warm enough for me to be out on the court, but this isn't much like tennis. It's similar yes but the timing is all different." Despite all of it's differences, Kate was quickly getting the hang of it and had no doubt she would be winning in no time.
>>So, not a date, huh? What 'bout the guy who took you to that concert? The dress didn't do the magic?...
Andrew... Kate had been avoiding him since that night, she was to scared of what might happen if there were to see each other.
>>"Actually I do play tennis all the time when it is warm enough for me to be out on the court, but this isn't much like tennis. It's similar yes but the timing is all different."
"Yeeeeaaah sure" Gawain grinned, starting another match "Ya're just getting owned by a knight at your own game."
And so she was. Although she was getting better at wii at an alarming rate. The girl was good, he had to hand her that.
>>"It didn't work out."
"Sorry to hear that" he frowned, losing points to her "His loss, trust me."
>>Yeeeeaaah sure. Ya're just getting owned by a knight at your own game.
"That is what you think. Soon I will be winning. You just need to give me time to get used to it." Kate hit and scored.
>>Sorry to hear that. His loss, trust me.
Kate smiled at the thought that Gawain thought she was a catch, "Really I was the one that made to much out of it and made a complete fool of myself." Kate blushed even at the thought of that night. He had made her a great cake and decorated it with her favorite colors and she had to go and ruin it by kissing him. She really was daft sometimes.
Kate hit the ball with force and scored 4 points in a row, only loosing by one this time. The next game she was going to win for sure and the one after that she planned on trouncing him.
>>"That is what you think. Soon I will be winning. You just need to give me time to get used to it."
"We've got all the time in the world" Gawain grinned, and they kept playing. She was getting good at it. He had no doubt she'd get better than he was, and soon.
>>"Really I was the one that made to much out of it and made a complete fool of myself."
"Happens" Gawain nodded "It's still his loss. A guy should be happy to go on a date with a gal like you" he grinned.
They kept playing; Gawain had his attention divided between the game and other thoughts, mainly, how much time they had before classes were over that they were not cutting anything anymore. In the meantime, he manage to lose a game to Kate.
