The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Casey knew Lance wan not too well and her concerns raised when she saw the teen bring up the pretzel she had not long bought him, on the plus side Lance did look better after he had thrown up. Casey felt bad for her companion, he probably did not feel too dignified right now.
Before she could offer the teen a piece of gum as some small consolation, five protestors began approaching the pair, one of which spitefully shoved poor Lance to the ground, “Hay!” Casey yelled at the man in a defensive tone.
Casey only managed to take one step towards Lance when the other four brawny men focused their attention towards her, she retracted a step as the men moved in on her.
Two of the men had singe marks on their clothes and some blood smeared over their face or arms, they had obviously been in the 1st explosion. One man looked similar to a lumberjack, he had an array of large gold rings on each hand that could prove very damaging. The fourth man seemed to be the leader of the group, he wielded a broken table leg which he patted threateningly in his hand. All of them where filled with hate and malicious motives.
“I’ve had enough of you freaks, your kind think you’re so much better than us don’t you? The leader began, “You all think you can do something like this and get away with it. Wrong!”
Casey surmised the men must have seen her use her power, they where focusing on her and not on her companion, hopefully they did not realize he was a mutant too.
“Everyone needs to calm down. Your upset, I understand that but more violence is not going to help” Casey began, the men seemed to stop to let her say her piece, could these Neanderthals actually be listening to reason?
Apparently not, “It’s a shame to have to mess up such a pretty face, but getting rid of one of you freaks would do the world a great favor” the man retorted. Casey remained collected, bullies often ganged up on her in high school so being surround by four large men was not as intimidating to Casey as to would be to most women.
The men seemed confident as the moved in to attack, being a little under weight as she had become recently made Casey appear a little frail, a deception that was in her favor, it lulled the group into a false sense of security believing their victim was powerless.
Casey knew she did not have to be stronger than her attackers or even smarter, she just had to be faster than them and she was. Casey dodged the first attack, and to the men’s surprise she proceeded to get in a few hits of her own.
”I’ve had enough of you freaks, your kind think you’re so much better than us don’t you? You all think you can do something like this and get away with it. Wrong!”
Lance was alarmed at the litany spewed by one of the four men surrounding Casey. He hadn’t noticed their attire, but from the venom in his words, the teen can only assume that they were part of the anti-mutant protest.
Casey tried to meet their anger with reason in an attempt to pacify them. Sadly it was to no avail...
”It’s a shame to have to mess up such a pretty face, but getting rid of one of you freaks would do the world a great favor.”
Lance felt a surge of panic as the four men closed in on Casey. He had to quickly come up with something to help his companion before it’s too late.
Be careful in what you will do, hero... the inner voice cautioned him. You do not want to aggravate the situation any further.
The sounds of a fight quickly brought the internal monologue to a halt. The four had started the fight against Casey. And thankfully, the woman seems to be able to hold her own against m.
Lance focused his attention on the fifth member of that group, the one serving as look-out.
The teen once again formed his lips to whistle. This time, however, instead of sending out a series of subsonic pulses, Lance sent out a continuous stream in the hopes of incapacitating the guy before he, or his companions, knew what hit him.
Normally, Lance would have sent out a series of pulses of subsonic frequencies if he wanted to incapacitate an opponent. This was so that the chances of killing or doing permanent damage were kept at a minimum. But in this situation, the teen no longer cared if the guy would end up in a coma after his attack... a friend is currently fighting for her life and he had to do whatever he can to help her.
It only took a few seconds before the man suddenly shivered then promptly collapsed to the ground. Only a short yelp of pain, escaped his lips... hopefully his companions were too busy with Casey to notice that.
Lance was surprised at the speed and efficacy of the attack. It would seem that his disregard for the safety of his opponent aided in the speed at which the effect of his power took place.
The discomforting queasiness, unfortunately, was also back again.
Turning his attention quickly towards the four other men and Casey, the teen hoped that his companion will be able to handle her opponents or at least separate herself from them to give him a clear shot.
With what he experienced with the look-out, Lance feared that he might injure Casey if he fired off at the group, with her at such close proximity.
As Casey fought with the four men Lance swiftly pacified the look out using his powers with less moderation than he would normally use, Casey however was too busy to notice, the four men where also to engaged in their aggression to notice their friends short yelp of pain.
At first Casey was doing a good job of standing her ground against the burly band of assailants, but the strain of giving out and receiving a few hits in an unfair fight, after having just chased down a delinquent mutant was beginning to show. She tried her best to keep up the defense and she managed to hit one of the singed clothed men square on the chin with a sharp right hook, he was out for the count.
However his three buddies did not take kindly to seeing him go down and go down hard, especially at the hand of a mutant, a female one at that.
The men’s aggression towards Casey instantaneously increased, Casey knew the situation was about to get uglier and she wanted to tell Lance to run, she did not think of him as a friend, she had only met him this morning, but she did fell responsible for him and she wanted him out of harms way. But she was afraid she would draw the men’s attention to him and that was the last thing she wanted, so she kept her mouth shut and hoped the teen would leave without being told.
While Casey wan momentarily distracted worrying about her companion one of the men socked Casey in the stomach causing her to bend forwards in pain, Mr. Lumberjack took advantage of the moment and hit Casey in the face with a ring cover fist sending a few drops of blood from Casey’s bottom lip to fall to the floor, followed by Casey herself. The leader raised the table leg over Casey’s head and brought it down with all his might in attempt to club her as if she where a baby seal.
Casey had just enough room to roll out of the way and the potential murder weapon hit the ground millimetres in front of her face with what would have been a skull breaking thud.
Before Casey could move a muscle she felt herself being yanked to her feet at lightning speed, two of the men pined her against the wall and the leader stepped in front of her preparing to beat her. Casey quickly merged into the wall and the man’s fist cracked as it his brick instead of flesh. Moments later Casey jumped out of the wall and knocked the men backwards, much like a tackle used in football. He reeled back into his friends causing them to become unstable.
This through the men into confusion as they tried to steady themselves giving Casey a chance to put some space between herself and them, “Run!” she said to her companion as she headed towards him, being that his direction was the only path not being blocked by hateful protesters
Lance held his breath as the look-out dropped unconscious, warily glancing towards the four other thugs. He was only able to breathe after a few seconds, as the four seemed too focused on trying to beat up Casey that they apparently failed to notice their fifth companion lying unmoving on the sidewalk.
To his companion’s credit, Casey was holding her own against the four other thugs. A timely right hook to the chin of one of the four men quickly reduced their number to three.
Those remaining apparently did not take the situation to their liking, redoubling their efforts to bring down Casey.
Then the situation rapidly turned for the worse... one of the men got lucky and was able to land a punch on Casey, causing the woman to bend over in pain. Casey’s opponents quickly took advantage of the situation as one of the men punched her again, causing Casey to fall to the pavement. Another of her opponent, carrying a broken table leg, raised his weapon and quickly brought it down for a killing blow. Thankfully, Casey was able to move out of the way. The two other men lifted her from the ground and pinned her to the wall. As the third man threw a punch at Casey, she once again disappeared into the wall, causing the man’s fist to crack on the concrete surface.
Casey quickly launched herself from the wall tackling the lead guy, sending him backpedalling towards his two other companions.
Taking advantage of the confusion caused by her attack, Casey quickly headed towards Lance’s location.
“Run!”
Considering that he had just knocked-out one of their companions, Casey’s suggestion appealed very much to the teen’s sensibilities. With the numerical odds against them, a strategic withdrawal was a good plan.
Lance quickly followed Casey’s lead and hightailed it out of there.
The sounds of cursing and hurried footfalls soon reached the teen’s ears. Hazarding a quick glance behind him, Lance saw the three protesters chasing after them.
Looks like the predators had suddenly become the prey.
A few more seconds of running and Casey’s yellow car came into view. The much faster woman was already making her way into the driver’s side of the car.
The sound of pursuit was just behind him and Lance was hoping that Casey would have the car running and ready to leave by the time he reached it.
( OOC: Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been feeling well for the past three days. If you don't want to leave the protesters behind yet, just PM me and I'll edit my post. )
Lance was quick at responding to Casey’s suggestion of retreating and the pair quickly dashed for Casey’s yellow car with the three protesters in hot pursuit of them.
Casey fount she was having a little difficulty running in a straight line, but that was not surprising to her considering she had just been in a punch up with a bunch of muscular Neanderthals.
Casey clutched her left side with her right hand as she run, her ribs hurt from the hits she had sustained, she knew there would be a large nasty bruise on that side and a few more in some other places as well.
Casey decided to run ahead of Lance in attempt to unlock the car doors for her companion and start the engine ready for a faster pull away. Casey stumbled around her pocket and pulled out her car keys.
“Son of a gun!” Casey exclaimed to herself as she approached her car, to her dismay the driver’s side of Andy had been dented in by the delinquent mutant’s shockwaves, causing the windows on that side to crack severely.
Casey did not know if anything else was damaged on her poor Andy but she hoped his injure where purely cosmetic, if he would not start the pair where in trouble...well, even more trouble.
Casey went to the dented-in drivers side and stumbled to get the key into the lock, she felt disorientated and was having difficulty with this simple task, she literally shook her head in attempt to shake off the feeling. She managed to get the key into it’s slot and unlocked the door, but when she tried to pull it open she discovered it was jammed.
Muttering under her breath she repeatedly tugged on the door each time harder than the last until it finally popped open, she quickly lent over and unlocked the passenger door just as Lance approached the car and promptly took his seat.
“Hurry” she urged him as she put the key into the ignition “Yeah like he is not hurrying already”
Casey turned the key but the car failed to start. “Start!” Casey appealed to the car as if it could hear her as she turned the key a second time. Nothing.
The pair where suddenly showered in glass as one of the protestors smashed the drivers side window with the broken table leg, a small surprised scream actually escaped Casey’s bleeding lips. “Come on, come on, come on!” Casey appealed to Andy once again as she turned the key a third time, success!
Casey slammed the car into drive and pulled away, her seatbelt must be fastened rule out the window.
Andy made all kinds of unhealthy noises as he carried the pair to safety, the petrol gage was near empty but it should be enough to get the pair to their destination if Andy did not breakdown first.
After getting out of harms way, hopefully, Casey pulled over, she did not feel good, “Can you drive?” Casey asked her companion groggily, “Do you have a license?” she struggled to get the sentence out before she slipped out of conciseness. Mr. Lumberjack had hit her harder than she realized, apparently he had given her a Concussion
Ooc: that’s okay. You have my sympathies, it’s horrible being sick. I think we can wrap this story up if you want, I have sent you a mp about it .
As Lance approached, it became apparent that his companion was having some difficulty with the door on her side of the car. It took a while before Casey was able to open the door.
The door to his side of the car quickly swung open as he neared the yellow vehicle. Diving in, Lance slammed the door behind him and set about to buckle himself in as Casey fiddled with the ignition.
“Start!”
The situation was getting to his companion, Lance surmised, as Casey started shouting at the car.
A shower of glass shards rained on them as one of the protesters smashed the window on the driver’s side of the poor car.
Casey screamed in surprise.
“Come on, come on, come on!”
Finally, the engine started after much encouragement and pleading from its owner. Slamming her feet on the acceleration pedal, Casey nearly ran over the protester who positioned himself in-front of her car.
The road had been cleared by the police and Casey was able to make a quick getaway, leaving behind the cruses spewing from the angry protesters.
Lance had not said a word ever since the two of them drove away from their pursuers. His thoughts were going over the entire incident trying to give reason to the barbaric behavior of those humans they had encountered. If everyone continued to act that way, the teen sadly thought, the idea of humans and mutants living harmoniously with one another would truly seem to be a distant dream.
Thankfully, they had successfully extricated themselves from that potentially life threatening situation
After a few minutes of driving, Casey pulled the car over.
Lance glanced towards his companion and it was then that he noticed that she was not looking well.
“Can you drive? Do you have a license?”
Lance became alarmed at the implications of Casey’s questions, especially by her groggy delivery. But before he could answer her, however, his companion had slumped over unconscious.
Lance got out of the car and moved towards the driver’s side. Opening the door, the pavement was showered by shards of broken glass. The teen was careful to move his unconscious companion to the passenger seat. It took a while and a lot of struggling to finally get the unconscious Casey safely buckled up. Closing the door as he got in, Lance steadied his hands on the car’s steering wheel. He doubted if he can calm his nerves enough to safely drive the car back to the mansion. But for the sake of the unconscious person beside him, he had to do it.
Taking a deep breath, Lance changed gears and slowly drove the little yellow car towards the Mansion.
