The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been a very long time since Emerald Lupin had been this mad and this time it wasn’t even by an enemy it was by her own family! Sapphire had told her about Bloodfang and after the wolf girl heard about that she was livid. How stupid did someone have to be in order to tempt someone like that? Bloodfang was a crazed Psychopathic sexually deviant murder, what the hell was Gawain doing trying to fight him?
Emerald had decided to invite her friend to the danger room, for several reasons, Isolation purposes, almost soundproof walls, no witnesses and so she can scare the ever loving crap out of the kid. So she set up a danger room scenario one that took place in a large dungeon that just happened to reach its epic climax whenever her sibling walked in through those doors. The wolf girl was fighting a large Minotaur like creature, dodging kicks, punches and charges with relative ease.
Whenever they would walk in through those doors, Emerald would have the massive creature in a chokehold, dangling from his neck. The giant creature struggled, trying to get her off of its back but judging by all the large gaping wounds on the tall bovine, it was getting too weak from the blood loss. The creature fell to its knees, groaning in pain, giving the she wolf enough time to snap its neck. She jumped off of its shoulder’s and landed onto the floor infront of her dear sibling, garbed in a pair of work out shorts and a tank top, that was occasionally spattered with minotaurian blood. As the creature fell to the floor behind her, she crossed her arms in front of her and stared at her surrogate sibling with cold eyes.
“Hey Buddy, is there something you need to tell me about some vigilante justice you decided to do with my big sister?” Emerald asked in sweet voice, though it was tinged with the deadliest tones, it was obvious that the wolf girl was mad.
And invitation to the DR by Emerald. On a Gawain day. The young knight strangely felt like walking the plank.
He was dressed in his usual attire for danger room sessions: black cargo pants, t-shirt and a green bandana because his hair was staring to get into his eyes lately. He was wearing sneakers; Sam usually wanted him to do the sessions barefoot, but this was not Sam's session, and he was more comfortable moving around with shoes on.
Emerald expected him with an impressive scene. Mythological, none the less. Gawain grinned as he walked in, and kept grinning until she saw the look on the wolf girl's face. For a moment, then, he seriously considered running away. He new he wouldn't get far.
>>“Hey Buddy, is there something you need to tell me about some vigilante justice you decided to do with my big sister?”
Gawain gulped. Sh*t.
"Sounds like you already know..." he muttered, his cheeks turning red "... look, Ems, I wanted to tell you... at some point..." he swallowed again "... I'm sorry ya had to hear it from Sapphire..."
Deep breathes escaped Emerald, she was clearly trying to stay calm. The wolf girl didn't want to just wail on the boy, but she did want to remind him how stupid that was. How Plain and Simple his idiocy truely was. He tried to take on Bloodfang, the most descipable person Emerald knew and not only that he had tried to stop him!
"Yeah, I'm sorry I had to hear it from Sapphire too," Emerald told him, the growl escaping her throat. Oh she was NOT a happy camper. "I'm also sorry I have to do this!"
At that moment Emerald's mind switched to battle mode and she attempted to kick Gawain with a roundhouse kick to the chest. Now while this wasn't her full strength it still would be pretty painful if it connected.
>>"Yeah, I'm sorry I had to hear it from Sapphire too."
Yup, Emerald was royally pissed. Gawain had to admit, he would have been too, in her place. She didn't have such a great relationship with Sapphire to begin with.
>>"I'm also sorry I have to do this!"
"Wh--- whoawhoawhoa!"
It was probably the danger room setting that saved his life (or his ribs). Gawain reacted as he usually did in the training sessions, he ducked under the kick. But the Lupin was fast, not to mention furious, and Gawain fell and rolled before he got back on his feet again.
"Ems!" he yelled, more surprised than angry. He stood in a defensive stance. "I really don' wanna do this..."
"Oh good you can dodge simple kicks, that means that you wouldn't be killed immediatly by Bloodfang." Emerald told him helpfully. She got into fighting stance, one that wasn't her normal one, or at least any one that Gawain had seen. Something about this second stance, wether it was the she held herself or the way her body was move or even how she was breathing, was showing something else. Her eyes burned with a feral look filled with anger and rage.
"Bloodfang, he wouldn't talk Gawain, oh no do you have any idea the amount of people he has killed? How many of those people do you think were someone like you trying to stop him, or at least thinking they could?" Emerald asked him, her voice comming out in a low growl. She darted to Gawain's side, her teeth bared and in a sudden motion without any warning, she lunged at Gawain, looking like she was going to pounce on him, instead she stopped landed right infront of him crouched on all fours, sweeping her leg outward to knock him over.
>>"Bloodfang, he wouldn't talk Gawain, oh no do you have any idea the amount of people he has killed? How many of those people do you think were someone like you trying to stop him, or at least thinking they could?"
Gawain found himself baring his teeth; he felt frustrated with the way things went. Downhill, mostly. He was hoping for some yelling and maybe a punch or two, but no actual fight. Not like this, anyway. Not against Emerald. There were issues they needed to talk about. But till he could get the wolf girl to calm down, there wouldn't be reasonable talk. Calm down? Not likely. Blow off steam, then.
"Really?" he grunted once he landed on his back with a painful sound, and delivered a kick at the wolf girl to get her farther away from him "Because this right here sounds like ya're tryin' to train me against him..."
Flipping back onto his feet, he followed Emerald's movements with his eyes "Don' tell me ya wouldn' want to kick the bastard if ya had the chance."
Emerald's next movements were as about as feral and as savage as one could get. She bullrushed Gawain, charging at him at full force. She knocked the boy over and onto the ground again, causing her to let out a feral howl. The werewolf pinned him down firmly beneath her, placing both knees ontop of his legs and her arms pinning him down on ethier side. The look in Emerald's eyes was deffinatly not human, more of that of a savage beast who was grinning madly at its prey. She thrust her head downward, full maw of sharp teeth aiming for gawains neck, just before rearing back at the last second before her teeth grazed his skin.
"That, is how fast Bloodfang would have killed you," Emerald told him in a shakey voice. Getting off of Gawain, she took a deep breath, trying to regain herself. At the end, Emerald wasn't holding back and it was as if something else took her over, something feral, something pimal. The wolf girl offered her hand to Gawain, a shaken look on her face. "I would have never forgiven myself if he had killed you either." She told him her voiced choked with Emotion. The idiot had made her worried sick and she didn't want him to get hurt.
The air was knocked out of Gawain's lungs as the wolf girl pinned him, and for a split second he was thoroughly cinvinced she was going to bite him. His eyes went wide, and for a long moment he didn't even breathe, as he felt Emy's breath on his neck.
Damn.
>>"That, is how fast Bloodfang would have killed you."
Gawain could really believe that.
>>"I would have never forgiven myself if he had killed you either."
Gawain took her hand cautiously and stood, looking at the wolf girl. She'd blown off the steam. Great.
"But he didn't." he sighed. It was not much of an excuse. He stepped closer, trying to coax her into looking at him "Wanna know why?" he asked quietly.
"Yeah I know, Sapphire was with you and she almost died which must have been strange for her, shes the one thats normally killing people," Emerald responded, looking over at Gawain. She was better now, but she was still troubled, the fact that bloodfang may be elsewhere was a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing was now he wasn't going to go after her, bad thing, he was going to start killing people again before she could locate him and stop him. She was surprised that Sapphire helped him though. "I'm still surprised that she helped you." She shook her head, tail resting on her leg.
"Oh right, So I heard you got arrested from Ilari, care to explain?" Emerald asked, looking at him with a highly amused look on her face.
"Yeah, tell me about it" Gawain smirked, scratching the back of his neck "I'm not sayin' I wasn't afraid when I first visited her... but I guess when it comes to family, she's... well."
Emerald didn't really need an adopted Lupin to describe her family to her. Gawain didn't make that mistake at least.
"Let's just say she was as pissed as I was."
>>"Oh right, So I heard you got arrested from Ilari, care to explain?"
Gawain's face fell. Oh boy. That too?
"Oh c'mon Ems, that was totally not my fault!" he grimaced, throwing his hands in the air "They jus' started pickin' a fight before we even said anythin' to them. Didn't Ilari tell you that?" he shook his head "I mean, I would tell you if it was me who started the fight, but I really wasn't. Duh."
Emerald laughed a little at that last part, seeming to be far less mad at Gawain. He wasn't really someone that she could stay mad at for long, even if he was a big idiot for going up against Bloodfang, getting arrested and talking to her sister without a bullet proof vest. The kid had guts she would give him that, he deffinatly had guts.
"Yeah, Ilari told me all about it, that whole deal. He also told me you talked to him. "Emerald said, looking at Gawain. There was a still a spark in her eyes when she said Ilari's name, and a wag of her tail. But there was also sad look, "He said he was sorry, but I guess I wanted more ya know?" Emerald shook her head, going to lean against the wall. "Stupid right?"
Gawain frowned. He almost forgot what the conversation had been about, before the fight broke out in the sandwich bar.
"I mean, guy wanted to talk to you already, he just... couldn't find you, or find the courage." he shrugged, then smirked at the wolf girl "Give him a break, ya really can be scary of you ut your mind to it.."
She really could.
>>"Stupid right?"
"Naaah, I wouldn' say that." he smiled softly at her, walking over to lean againt the wall next to her. He rubbed his arms where she'd pinned him. "If a guy snuggles with a gal like that, he's jus' plain stupid to think he can get away with it."
And it was true. If you're snuggling, at least do it right. Gawain always did.
Emerald knew she could be a little intimidating when she wanted to be, she could be downright terrifying as well. She knew she was the big bad wolf that everyone was afraid of, but that didn't mean she did't have feelings like any other teenaged girl. Unfortunately, Ilari had invoked long forgotten feelings in the wolf girl and no matter how hard she tried to push them down, they kept boiling up.
"It's just, I dunno I kinda thought maybe I would finally have my chance ya know?" Emerald sighed, leaning her head against the wall. "I mean that snuggling thing, thats supposed to mean something, it means alot to wolves, it's something you are supposed to do with someone who cares about you right? "
Emerald paused and shook her head, "Nevermind, I shouldn't react this way about a guy that clearly has no interest in me. " Though she was strong, and though she was a brutal competitor, strong and swift, Emerald bruised easilly and not in a way that could be seen.
>>"I mean that snuggling thing, thats supposed to mean something, it means alot to wolves, it's something you are supposed to do with someone who cares about you right? "
Gawain nodded. He couldn't argue with that. He was amazed at the speed how their intensive training session turned into a heart-to-heart between siblings/friends. Women. He was glad he was only one of them half of the time. Snuggling, on the other hand, reminded him of Twyla. She was still away on vacation, and that didn't help his mood.
>>"Nevermind, I shouldn't react this way about a guy that clearly has no interest in me. "
Gawain sighed. Here we go.
"Wanna punch me again? Punchin' a mirror usually makes people feel better..." he smirked at her good-naturedly "... or I could go get you ice cream or somethin'." he went on, smiling playfully "Your call. I don' usually have guy issues. So."
"I don't wanna punch ya, If I do, I will take out all my anger on you, and end up punching you halfway across the room," Emerald told him, her tail wagging back and forth. Clearly the thought of Ice cream had cheered her up, then again any type of food was a cheering mechanism or Emmy. "I wouldn't mind Ice cream, or cheeseburgers, or any kind of food really." Emerald said with a wolfish grin.
While she did look a little happier, she still did feel a little down, but food should help that feeling and fill her up with yummy goodness. Emerald was always a sucker for a good meal, it was perfect too, if she ever went out on a date, her date could pick any kind of food and he would be fine. Now paying the check for the big eater of a werewolf may have been a different story.
