The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Things were truly starting to look good for a change, which Sawyer couldn't quite understand. His first week at the Institute for Gifted Youths had been the weirdest week in his life, from meeting his roommate, a rather interesting guy and feisty girl, if that wasn't weird enough, he had also gone to the statue of liberty with Juka, a fellow Seattle native. He had met an Empath, eaten cookies with a group of Mutants in the Living Room and witnessed a teenage girl about his age in a rather awkward yet cute position on the couch, only to somewhat befriend her.
His second and third week had fallen into a more casual pattern. He would wake up, eat breakfast – or lunch, since it happened that he sometimes woke at half past noon, sometimes later – and then take a quick run around the city. He had learned quickly that the staff did not care whether he left the grounds or not. He'd been paranoid for no reason. Anyway, after the run, whether it had lasted an hour or three, he would return to the Mansion and seek out someone to spend some time with, perhaps watch a bit of television or read a bit in his dormitory. Overall, his life wasn't as horrible as he'd first expected. He was starting to feel more at home here than anywhere.
He wasn't exactly sure how he felt about that. On the day of the three-week mark since his arrival at the Mansion, the sixteen year-old made his way toward the famous Danger Room. He had heard quite a lot about it, really. From Mirror mentioning it while letting him know about all of the rules he needed to obey, to Cafas telling him about it on his first night here. Well, after three weeks he ought to have tried it out by now, no? Well, he wasn't going to wait any longer. Yesterday he had gone and booked a session with Sam Johnson, an infamous man here at the Mansion.
From what Sawyer could make out, the ice Mutant was a pretty scary guy. The Music teacher who froze his students when they did not behave. The guy who would beat your butt into shape with some nasty sessions. Well, Sawyer wasn't scared. Far from it actually. He was pretty excited about finally meeting the guy, wondering what he could learn from him. Leaning against the doors of the Danger Room, he waited for his trainer to arrive. Sam wasn't late though, Sawyer was just twenty-six minutes early. It was a quirk from having super speed, you were always early.

The warm black liquid slid down his throat as he took another sip of the large mug of coffee. A yawn followed and then a head turn. It didn’t matter how many times he saw her she was still… not her… he sighed and leaned over his head inches from the girl halfway asleep next to him ”How long you going to pretend on sleeping?” Sam asked Haley as she turned her head slightly as Cammie nuzzled in as closely as possible to her neck. ”As long as it takes, when you done with work today?” he blinked with his right eye realizing what time it was. He was running late… ten minutes late… ”Well, as of right now…” he leaned down and kissed her head then grabbed the mug next to him taking another sip before he got dressed.
Within two minutes he was ready and out the door. ”Be back later! If you plan on sticking around make sure Bruno gets some food!” he heard a meow as he opened the door then added, ”Cammie too!” and with that he walked down to the Danger Room where he was to meet one of his newest students.
He was in no hurry in fact he neither arrived early or late to a training session, he arrived precisely when he meant to at least that was what he told his students. It was his way of ‘Teaching’ them patience. That was what they needed after all when he taught them, nothing ever came quickly slow and steady that was how he taught them.
Something he wasn’t sure his newest student would come to appreciate. From what he read Sawyer was a speedster and every speedster needed a nickname. Therefore when he arrived in the danger room Sam took a sip of his coffee and walked in barefoot with only his basketball shorts and a ratty AC/DC t-shirt on. ”Speedy… er Sawyer?” Sam asked as he walked into the danger room holding out his hand to the slim teen before him.
His right eye trailed over the boy from his hand to his arms then to his face then the rest of his body. Mentally noting where there was obvious definition of the muscles and where the definition lacked… he defiantly had a runners build…
(OOC:Let me know if i need to change anything around, the information Sam had on you was the information from your "New Resident" paper work)
The first thing Sawyer could tell about his new defense teacher was that he looked tired, sipping at his coffee as if he'd just awakened. In the back of his mind, the teen wondered what exactly he'd been doing all night. Overall though, he looked like a decent guy.
The black eye patch reminded him strangely of a pirate costume he'd worn on Halloween a few years back, but otherwise Sam Johnson didn't seem like the strict, jerk of a teacher Sawyer had made him out to be after gathering all sorts of information from what he'd heard around the school. Sawyer did have a knack for getting along with the teachers most students feared.
Speedy. That was a nickname he'd heard a few times. "Hey there, Frosty." he replied in that impassive voice of his. He could give Sam a nickname too, right? He then started to speed around his trainer, just to prove that he was indeed the Sawyer Sam was looking for. When he stopped a fraction of a second later, he grasped the ice Mutant's hand, shaking it lightly. "Nice to meet ya." he said.
He then sped around the Danger Room once or twice, showing off his power at its fullest. One hundred miles her hour, one-hundred and forty-six feet per second. He was definitely fast, which he hoped would impress Sam a little. He could be somewhat of a cocky guy, competitive too. "Got anything in mind for the first session?" he asked, now standing in fromt of the older Mutant once more.

When Sawyer responded with a nickname of his own Sam took a sip of coffee not really felling insulted that the kid was giving a teacher a nickname. Fair was fair Sam gave the first nickname so it was only natural the kid would respond in turn. What Sam wasn’t fond of was that the speedster sped around him before shaking his hand. Either the boy was really hyper or just liked to show off. A simple yes would have sufficed, another sip of coffee and Sam’s right eye blinked as the boy sped around the entire danger room.
Another blink and the boy was in front of him again asking if Sam had anything in mind for the first session. He was fast just like the information said however. Sam wasn’t the one to be impressed with a little show of power what would have really impressed him was the restraint the boy could have shown instead of flaunting his gift the way he did.
Nodding his head and taking another sip of his coffee before setting it down next to his feet Sam nodded again, ”I did have some things in mind… however that little show of power sort of just tossed most of them out the window.” Sam shrugged and crouched down his eye locked on the boy for a moment then Sam cleared his throat waving Sawyer to come in closer to him, ”Tell me Sawyer have you ever seen the Karate Kid? The original one?” Sam asked curiously as he reached for his coffee taking another sip as he was still crouched down.
”There is a scene in particular that I liked, it was when Miyagui told his student about the three paths of Martial practitioners there was the students that said “yes”, they took one side of the street, the ones that said “no” they took the other side of the street and the ones that said “maybe” the ones that said “maybe” would always get squashed like a grape…”
Sam paused and took a sip of his coffee to let the words sink in, ”Now I could be paraphrasing but what the point I am trying to make is I need a student that is a “Yes” student…a student that might not know why I asked him to do something but he will do it regardless knowing that I won’t lead him down the wrong path.”
He paused again and stood up leaving his coffee by his feet, ”Now can I trust you to be a “Yes” student? A student that will want to learn all I have to teach them, even if it might not make sense at the time?” his gaze fixed on Sawyer this would be the turning point in the meeting between the two. Sam wanted ‘Yes’ students all of the ones he had were ‘Yes’ students there was only one or two that were ‘No’ or ‘Maybe’ and they never did stick around long.
Okay, so Sawyer could see that he was going to be getting on Sam's nerves if he continued to speed around like he was doing. Well, good for the Ice Mutant then, because he was done now He could be patient and cool, he just felt like wasting a bit of excess energy before having to get to work. He knew how to be serious just as well as he knew how to keep a poker face on. Right now, both were in place. Serious and ready for action.
So Sam had something in mind, that was a good start. Standing unusually still, since Sam seemed to have been pretty annoyed by his show of power just there, he shook his head. "Sorry, I haven't. I have heard of it though. To be honest, I'm not much of a T.V. person." he shrugged. Was he going to be trained like the karate kid or something? If so, he had to admit, that would be pretty awesome.
He listened as Sam started talking, nodding at the right moments, genuinely interested. This truly wasn't like any gym class he'd been in back in his old High School, that was for sure. Actually, it wasn't even close to the first lesson he'd had back in the day when he'd been into the whole Martial arts thing. Of course, that had been quite a handful of years ago... He'd been pretty young. Anyway, it didn't really matter in the long run if he'd seen the movie or not. Sam only wanted a student that was positive and obedient.
Sawyer had to admit, he wasn't the most trusting guy, but he would try. He didn't want to be squashed like a grape, after all. "You have my word." he said with a slight grin, mostly to show that he was indeed willing to try his hardest to be a 'Yes' student as Sam put it.

When he agreed Sam smiled and nodded, ”Good!” he took a step back and rose up his hands ”Now that we have that out of the way we can get started!” he closed his right eye and then activates his mutation to form ice over his feet as the room they were in became cold. His breath became visible as his shirt started to freeze over. ”First thing is first, if you want to try and impress me showing me what your mutation is, isn’t the best way to do it!”
Lowering his hands and opening his right eye the ice around his feet shattered into tiny pieces as he severed his control over the temperature into room. ”Any mutant can show off, what would really impress me is to show the control you have over yourself and your mutation.” crouching down and taking his mug from the ground Sam took another sip, ”Which leads us to the first part of the lesson…”
Raising up a finger he said, ”Rule number one, unless directed other wise I don’t want to see you run faster than an average human…” with that he took a sip of his coffee again and looked up to the god room, ”Computer, two sets of Magneweights please!” within seconds the virtual imagining of the room created eight objects that looked like ankle and wrist weights.
Leaning forward and setting his coffee down Sam turned and placed his rear on the ground as he reached out for half of the weights. Unstrapping them and then strapping them onto his four limbs Sam placed them in a comfortable area and then stood showing Sawyer where they should be placed. All four were right above the joints of the wrists and the ankles. ”Now put these on, they aren’t heavy yet…” Sam said as he reached for his coffee and finished the mug. ”Remember you’re the “Yes” student!” Sam said with a smug grin as he looked to the boy.
