((OOC: This thread takes place the night before the Senate bombing.))
As Lee stood in the bathroom, she was nervous. The smokey eye shadow, with just a hint of underlaying blue to bring out some colour in her eyes, the dark curls framing her face.
Normally, Lee liked dressing up like this, except that for tonight, it wasn't for Tarin. The
dress, courtesy of Slate whether he knew it or not yet, was dark blue with a slit up to her left thigh.
Based on Tarin's reaction the night before when she had tried the dress on for him, it was nothing short of ‘eye-catching’.
Which was exactly what Lee knew she needed to be that night.
Lee had been 'seeing’ a number of politicians since getting into the country, learning things to hold against them for when she put the bribe forward. As well as the threat that they'd been associating with a mutant.
Nicholae Stancu had asked her to accompany him to a dinner or a gala or something in celebration of the National Day the next day. The bribe would come after. Lee needed to be seen, needed to stand out, or else how much of a threat would the fact that she'd been spending time with him be?
Finally, despite her nerves, Lee stepped out of the bathroom and into the main part of the hotel room she'd been sharing with Tarin since they'd gotten to Romania. Though Tarin was no where to be seen. Not that that was really much of a surprise to Lee, Tarin didn’t like seeing her leaving like
this, and they had already said goodbye before she started getting ready. He was probably down in the bar having a drink, or meeting Slate about their trip the next day.
But Lee couldn’t spend time thinking about that, it wis time for her to leave. Grabbing her coat and scarf, Lee went down to grab a cab.

Half of Lee's mind had drifted to memories of a starfilled sky in Texas. It was just about the only way she had found to keep a smile plastered on her face when talking to some of these men. At least this time, Lee had had enough forewarning of their trip to be able to do a crash course in Romanian culture and politics, and thanks to the Dragon Speak gems she was able to understand what was being said. She just had to be careful not to voice too many of her
own opinions.
Such as the fact that many of these men believed that they were actually
helping by keeping this Registration Law in effect. When statements along those lines came out, Lee had to bite her tongue and think about her wedding night to keep from blowing things.
”Did you hear?” one of Stancu's collegues was saying.
”They raided a house east of the city this morning. Found six of them. And they actually had the nerve to attack. Wounded almost ten of the police who did the raid.”Lee gritted her teeth and tried to force her expression to look merely concerned, not furious at these men.
You can't fight back, not here, Lee silently told herself.
You'll never get out of here if you fight now. The whole reason for all of this is to make a difference, and doing something here, now, won't make a difference.”The report I heard said two of them have already died.””They'll get what's coming to them. I've been told the camps have special sections for mutants like that.”“If you'll excuse me, gentlemen,” Lee cut in, almost interrupting mid sentence. “But I think I need to grab another drink.” Without waiting for a response, Lee turned and started making her way toward the bar.
“Stupid, idiotic, racist bastards,” Lee mumbled under her breath in English part way to the bar. “I’d like to see them in one of those camps for a day, an
hour, and see what they say then.”
After a few more choice words, Lee reached the bar. “Shot of tequila and a glass of sparkling cider,” Lee ordered, slipping back into Romanian thanks to the gem from Slate, once she had the bartender's attention, which really wasn't all that long. Normally, Lee tried everything she could to avoid drinking when she was out like this, but after that last little bit of conversation, the tones of voice those men had had, she needed something, and the moment the tequila was set in front of her, she downed it.
A moment later, her other drink was set in front of her. Taking a drink, Lee picked up the glass. It was time to get back to work...
