The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lee woke up to the feeling of a cold, wet nose nudging her shoulder. Without even opening her eyes, she groaned slightly and rolled over. Somehow, Axel had managed to get up on the bed, despite that being a rather large jump for the small dog, but Lee had no doubt that Tarin would soon be booting him off the bed. Her husband had been more adamant than she had about the fact that their new dog would not be sleeping in the bed with them.
Another nudge. What the hell was going on, Lee wondered sleepily. She hadn't figured that Tarin would take this long to get Axel off the bed.
Except...she didn't feel anyone else there with her...
Frowning, her eyes still closed, Lee wondered where Tarin was, and why the hell he hadn't woken her up if he'd decided to get up already. Unless he'd just gone to the bathroom, in which case he'd remove Axel from the bed as soon as he got back.
Lee took a deep breath. Yeah, Tarin would move Axel when he got back, but if it wasn't done quickly enough, the puppy would start thinking that being up on the bed was alright.
Heaving a sigh, Lee opened her eyes and sat up.
Then stopped, her eyes wide, as she took in the scene around her. This was not her bedroom, this wasn't either one of the bedrooms in the apartment she shared with Tarin. Lee didn't recognize this room at all, and the dog that was still nudging her shoulder wasn't Axel.
Except, it wasn't her shoulder that was being nudged. It was bare, and hairy, and male.
Lee didn't think that her eyes could possibly get wider as she scrambled backwards, away from the dog and out of the bed. Once she was out from under the covers, Lee noticed that all she (he, all she in a male body) was wearing were a pair of very tacky looking boxers.
Out of the bedroom Lee went, across the hall into the bathroom and flipped on the light. And Rupert was looking back at her out of the mirror.
She had completely lost her mind this time, hadn't she?
Lee must have stood there staring at Rupert's face in the mirror for a good, solid ten minutes before she finally turned away. This was just too strange, she needed to find Tarin.
Out of the washroom Lee went. As long as she didn't actually look, she could almost pretend that she was still in her own body. Almost. There were definitely a few things she felt that were a lot harder to ignore.
Into the hallway and then into the living room Lee went, only to be confronted by the dog again. Now that she was more awake, Lee realized that she recognized the little guy; Flipsy, who Rupert had warned her about being a great food stealer that night she had stayed at his apartment.
Speaking of which, this living room was looking rather familiar, too. She'd pretended to watch hockey on that TV while Rupert had been cooking in that kitchen over there. They'd eaten a largely silent meal of Eggplant Parmesan at that table, and then she'd slept on that couch after Rupert had brought out sheets and a blanket for her. And, unless he had rearranged things, she also knew which cupboard the mugs were in, since Rupert had actually even made coffee and breakfast the next day before she had returned to her brother's to grab her bags before her train had left.
This was just all too weird. Why was she in Rupert's apartment, in Rupert's body? As if that dream hadn't been enough...
Lee closed her...his...whatever...eyes and ran her hands through her hair. Short, curly, and much coarser feeling hair than her own. "Ugh! Why?" Lee groaned, then shuddered at the voice. Even that was Rupert's.
Lee took a deep breath, eyes closed, then spent the next half hour exploring the apartment. Finding Flipsy's food dish wasn't hard; the dog kept running over to it, then jumping back to her and dancing around for a few seconds before heading back to the bowl. Finding where the food to go in the bowl was hidden was a much more difficult task. It was hidden very well, probably to prevent the dog from getting in and helping itself whenever it wanted.
Then Lee searched for the phone, and tried calling Tarin, but only got the answering machine. She hung up. This was weird enough as it was, she was not about to leave a message, with Rupert's voice. She'd wait until she could actually get a hold of Tarin.
And since that had been a bust, Lee took a look in the fridge. There were containers upon containers full of what looked like leftovers. Not leftovers like would be in her fridge at home, but real leftovers, from what appeared to be home made meals. And the crisper was full of vegetables. Absolutely full. Lee didn't think she'd be able to get the drawer closed again if she moved any of it around.
The weird thing was (well, on top of everything else about the whole situation that was weird) that while the kitchen was spotlessly clean and organized, the same definitely could not be said about the rest of the apartment.
Finally, Lee made her way back to the bathroom, and unfortunately, the face looking back at her from the mirror hadn't changed. It was still Rupert's. And, he looked to be scowling at her. On top of everything else, that was just great.
Taking a deep breath, Lee sank to the floor, her...his...eyes on the ceiling as she tried not to cry. This was not right, not right at all, and Lee had absolutely no idea what to do to fix it.
Sighing again, Lee let her eyes drop. Only to fall upon a pair of very, very hairy legs. Regardless of why things were like this, that was going to need dealt with. Rupert definitely didn't have a beard, which meant that he had to have a razor around there somewhere.
Taking a steadying breath, Lee pushed herself to her feet to begin that search. Despite everything else, she was not going to deal with having legs that hairy.
