The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Audrey had fallen asleep stuck to a wall, but that wasn't the worse part. The worse part was that she'd been naked, and in another person's body. In JENNY's body, with Claws and changing eye color. Anyway, when she blinked the fallowing morning, she felt good. As if she hadn't slept in a very odd position, and oddly... She felt actually comfortable in this... bed? Wait, had she...? No... That was impossible, she couldn't have done... Or maybe... Okay, this offically didn't make sense. The Shapeshifter sat up in the unfamiliar bed, for some reason not even realizing she wasn't in her bedroom either.
She was too scared of what she saw in the mirror in front of her.
That was... "Shana?!" she wondered aloud, glancing down at herself, dressed in PJs that obviously weren't hers, Audrey began to wonder what was going on. At first she thought maybe she'd Shapeshifted in her sleep like she'd done so long ago... But now this was too weird. She wasn't in her room, and as she got out of bed, she noticed nothing in here was hers either. "Isn't that the shirt she wore when we had Breakfast together?" she asked. Oddly enough, she could remember anyone's clothes, but not necessarily names or stuff that actually mattered.
"Wait," she whispered as if someone would most likely start talking behind her. "Aren't those the Mansion Grounds?" They were, she could see the exact spot she'd had a nice chat with Dominic... And she remembered when Shana had shown her the Basketball court on her tour of the place... Yes. She was indeed here atthe Mansion. Was this a new power or something? Along with Shapeshifting, was she capable of merging with others? If so... Then why couldn't she hear Shana in her head?
Oh no.
Had she killed Shana?
That was when practically everything light enough for her to physically pick up started flying everywhere. Clothes, books, hair brushes, blankets, more clothes...
THAT WASN'T NORMAL! SHE COULDN'T HAVE HER POWERS TOO!
"AAAAAAARGH!!!!!" she yelled in Shana's voice (Which she hadn,t realized yet that she'd also gotten along with everything else.) She ran out of the room, ran even faster a few feet on her left, and then BANG! Someone ran right into her. "HELP ME! she yelled.
Aura woke and and sat up, she knew somthing was off, it had to be, she normally could feel her Aura in her mind, it was the first thing she made sure of when she woke.Shooting up her feet she brought her hand up defencively looking around for a threat. She saw none but the room was strange it was not hers, it was brighter and more cheerful and with much more computer equipment. Then she cought a look at herself in the mirror. She was male, she reconized herself as David, tilting her head in confustion she tried to figure out how this happoned. Had david learned to switch minds with others, it seemed unlikely but so did becomming male over night. She knew no one with this kind of power and why would anyone bother unless to get information against the order, if that was the case, then she might have to do the same, who would beleive she was really Aura anyway, well maybe meld. In any case if she found the person who did this to her she would certainly hav to amke them pay, she did her best to calm down realizeing she would be unable to relax her faverite way like this.
Was this his room, the do gooder would live in a place like this. True he had helped them rob a bank and becuse he had proven himself Aura spared her surrounding a thrashing, not that she could right now anyway. Looking out the window she quickly realized she was ina mansion of some sort, one she ahd not seen before. She saw a few Mutant children playing in the yard, laughing and having a good time.Rummageing through the room she reliazed she was at the mansion or at least it said it was. She was having to assume a lot here, she knew nether why or how this had happoned, still she had to remain calm and figure this out even if it was a trap, calm and pationt would be the key to comming out of this on top, but she, or rather he would need a wepaon of some sort.
Questiones raced through her mind as she sat at the computer desk, Aura realized that she might have an oppertunity here, a way of gathering information for the order, on the various strengths and weaknesses of the people here as well as their defences. Auras head jerked to the side as she ehard somthing say you've got mail. But as quickly as it came it was gone, chalking itnup to the images that normally huanted her. She also realized she was far more vulnrable then her body, after all
Walking out into the hallway a girl ran into her knocking his now taller body back, then she tripped unused to the centor of gravity being diffrent in this body. Looking over the other girl, she did not reconize she stood up and looked around to try and see what the girl needed help from, she calle dout to her Aura only to hear somthing about hot singels in her Area. Only now did she consider the idea she might be dreaming, but this seemed much to real and becides if it was a dream why not see whare it played out. "Are you ok?" she asked concearned forgetting the body she had as she looked at the girl, trying to be helpful to her.
No matter what Aura would need to make the best of this and do what she could to get back to her body failing that, she would need to try and gather all the information she could get for the Order, for her Lady Syn. No matter the body no matter the pain oyelty was life and the thing that matterd more then anything else.
This was all too insane, she just couldn't possibly be Shana, could she? She hadn't seen her blue-haired friend in an entire week! It was hard to wrap this up in her mind, but in the end she had three theories that were all crazy to her. This was either a very sick joke from a Mutant who had the ability to change a person's mind into others' body, her powers growing stronger, making her able to not only change into a person, but also merge with them if she wanted, and last but definitely not least, she was dreaming. Yes, dreaming was possible, Though, the fact that she'd never ever had a dream so real and vivid was kind of making this theory crazy too.
Whichever it was, the impact of the fall had been real. Both the Shapeshifter and the young man in front of her had fallen to the floor, and for some reason, Audrey couldn't help but wonder: How could she had bumped him so hard she'd made him fall? This was crazy! He was much taller, much bigger then she was -- Both before she'd taken Shana's body and now. She stared at the boy for a second, wondering what to say.
No I'm not Okay, I woke up this morning in my friend's body, with my friend's powers. I'm not insane, I swear! Yes, that was the true story, but the more she thought about it, the weirder it seemed. She couldn't say that! She looked at the boy again, if her mind wouldn't have been so jumbled and mushed up, she would have thought of him as being kind of cute. A lot of Mutant boys were cute, it was odd. Anyway... he'd spoken almost a minute ago, and she had to think of something.
Her mouth was ajar as she thought. Poor Shana, if ever she had the chance to return to her own body, she would be embarassed by the expression on her face right now. It was completely dumbfounded, with her eyes staring at no where in particular. "I'm... going crazy. I'm... I don't know if I'm okay actually." she paused a second, getting to her feet. She debated whether or not telling him. It wasn't as if things like this happened often, but in the Mutant World...
Anything was possible. "What would you do if,hypothetically of course, you woke up in someone else's body? It's crazy I know but... I have to write an essay for..." Damn, it was the end of July, she didn't have classes. "For work... and I'm stuck. I think I'm going insane because of it." Okay, she doubted this guy would believe her,
Aura was a bit slow to get up, she felt so naked without her powers, the body mattered littile. Her Aura was a part of her and it was almost like missing a limb not having it. She was getting really sick of aol adds as well, they had been playing in her head over and over for the last few minutes. She recalled David needed meld and Aura to help him rob the back, he seemed to have no powers in terms of aggression and that left Aura feeling vulnerable. This girl he ran into was cute, although it was hardly the time to admire her. She had seen a lot of Mutant powers in her time, but none like this, it was a horrably powerful power to have, after all if you could switch bodys you would never be arrested or killed, it was ina sence immortality.
Aura listened to her words, and smiled a bit both on the outside and on the incide, things still made no sence at all, however she was not the only one stuck in another's body. She was guessing anyway, after all the girl had come running shrieking help, with nothing following her that she could see and then she asked a question about waking up in another's body. Maybe this would have seemed insane to some one else, but Aura was experiencing the same issue and took internal comfort that some one else was having the same issue. If that was the case then how many other had this issue, and was David in her body, she wondered, had they switched places? She really hoped this was not permanent. Options flew through her mind unsure how to proceed, she was never the greatest spy, but maybe she could still be useful with this bulky body.
Did she tell the girl the truth that she was stuck in another's body as well? it seemed unlikely she could make anyone believe she was david, once people sorted out what was happening they would be on the look out for people not acting right. So that plan was likely foolish, still if she told them who she really was then their was a strong possabillity of finding herself in a cell with only aol and viagra adds to keep her busy. She said nothing for a few moments as she picked her mind for what to do, then she shrugged her shoulders slightly. "You really lie fairly poorly" she said her voice sounding deeper and more serious then she intended. Aura had no idea what kind of work would have you to a report on something like this."Another person might think your insane or fall for that, but unfortunately i am in the same boat you are. I Woke up in this...... mans body and since it sounds like that is what happened to you, im guessing the issue is likely spread to others as well. We must remain calm and collected and figure out what happoned to our bodys" he said still sounding overly serious, though Aura was trying to ajust the voice.
"My name...My real name is Jessica.....O-reily" she said her hand going to run through her hair but it only combed air. "What do we do now though, we could ask others about this, but they might think we are nuts if no one else is going through this, did you live here? If we track down whare you lat recall being before you fell asleep, we might well be able to find your body and reverse it" she said figuring she would pick up her own body a long the way. She did not believe the girl to be a sanctuary resident and whoever she switched with likely was, as was david. "Still the real question si who is powerful enough to do somthing like this and why, im not even that important" she said honestly. She was a simply solider, "At least your stilla girl" she said with a small giggle, trying to comfort the other girl.
For a second, the man's face was impassive, deep in thought. She wondered if he believed her, or maybe he was the one who had changed her! It was a bit foolish, but it could be. She had no idea what his ability was, so it was hard to say. A few seconds of looking at him more, and she could tell he was deep in his own little world. A little confused even, strange. If he was the person who'd did this, he was a very good actor. Too good, which meant he was probably an inoccent bystander who had the misfortune of running into this wacko. Well, the mind of a wacko in the body of her friend. Definitely a horror-movie like scene if you ask me, no offense to Shana or anything, her body wasn't that bad, just that being in her own body would be a nicer feeling.
Ahem.
He was smiling, what was he thinking? She wished Shana was a Telepath right now, it would be useful to know what was going on around here and who was doing this! Lie poorly? Well sorry! She would definitely be a bad liar in these kinds of situations. She rolled her - Shana's eyes, biting on Shana's lips thoughtfully. The man continued on speaking, and Audrey listened as best as she could, even with her brain working at 200 miles an hour without really making any sense of anything.
"This makes no sense." she said to him... No wait, was it a her inside there? Man, this was confusing. So, whoever this person really was, he... or she... was in the same boat? That meant others were probably switched as well. Was Shana in her own body? Oh no... Then, Shana was probably still stuck to the wall in Audrey's bathroom, naked... And in Fade's appearance. It would have been a little funny, but this was no laughing matter, so she remained serious, her... Shana's eyes staring at the girl in the boy's body. So, Jessica... She was definitely a girl. "I'm Audrey, Audrey Walker. This-" she pointed at her Shana-self, "-is Shana... Actually, I don,t know her last name. Anyway, I met the real her a few weeks ago..." why was she saying this? It was useless to the case.
"If you're a better liar then I am in crazy situations," she smiled tentatively, though it was more of a grimace, "/Maybe we can get it out of them without revealing we have been through this... thing." she suggested awkwardly. "Also, I think others may be as terrified as I am... So we might find people running around screaming if we aren't the only ones. Maybe find people we know, and see if they act differently then usual" she paused for another second, wondering if Jessica was from the Mansion. Honestly, Audrey knew only a handful of people.
Which really wasn't much help. "I agree, We should try and find our bodies. Make sure whoever - if ever, someone is in it, they don't get us in trouble." See if they could reverse it was good too. Hey, maybe try to run into the person like in Freaky Friday... Oh right, that hadn't worked, had it? No... it had been because they needed to learn how to get along or something? She couldn,t quite remember, it had been a long time ago since she'd watched it.
Anyway, it was a relief to know that whoever occupied Audrey's body, they wouldn't be able to go about and ruin her life just yet. Getting unstuck from the wall and learning enough control to change back to normal form was hard for her, imagine someone else who was as confused about this as she was. Maybe if the two hurried, they could get to Audrey's house before she had the chance to wake up or run away, or get unstuck... She shook her head when Jessica asked if she lived here, getting her mind back to the twisted, unreal reality. "No, I don't, though I have come here once after getting pretty banged up. I live a few blocks from here, close to Times Square." she explained.
"Yeah, it must be bad being in a boy's body huh? Do you have his powers... Wait, do you know who the guy you stole the body from is? I know Shana and I have an idea of her Powers... Actually I keep having trouble controlling them..." she trailed off, only now realizing that a vase full of flowers was flying around behind Jessica. Oops, she really should be careful, maybe she'd go and hurt someone next time it happened. When she tried to focus the vase back on the little table, it simply smashed to the floor, dirt, glass and flowers everywhere. "Oops... Shana's a Telekinetic... It's very different from my powers so it's kind of hard to get control over it..."

Meld carefully made her way out of her room a hand, clawed and furred which she would have found fascinating if not for her present circumstances, braced against the wall for balance. She wasn't quite steady on her feet, the strange vision starting to cause her a slight headache, but as long as she kept her hand on the wall she thought she would be ok. It was times like these that she realized just how much she relied on her vision, static and perfect as it was.
All seemed to be well as Meld slowly made her way down the hallway, or at least well as could be expected seeing as how she was trapped in another person's body and was having trouble even being able to walk properly. And then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of movement. Before she even knew what had caused it or what it was she dashed in the opposite direction of the flash and rand into someone, causing her to tumble to the ground in a heap of fur. The pain of the fall took her breath away and for a moment she couldn't speak. Although the tumble had been minor and the pain even more so, even that small amount of pain was breathtaking to one who hadn't felt the slightest amount of pain for nearly 4 years. And she hated it.
After a few moments Meld got back in control of herself and looked around at who she had run into. "I'm so sorry," she apologized, or at least that's what she had meant to say, and then shut her mouth abruptly. That most certainly was not her voice and the words came out garbled, it being difficult to properly enunciate words around her new found teeth and longer facial structure. "I'm so sorry," she tried again, this time more successfully. The words were still not entirely clear but at least if she spoke slowly she was comprehensible.
It was at this moment that Meld noticed David and seeing a familiar face, even if they had only worked together once, brought Meld a profound sense of comfort and relief. And, if she was fortunate, this might even be something that David would be able to help her figure out. After all, his power had something to do with computers and she knew enough about computers and the internet to know that there was a lot of knowledge to be had there. Maybe, just maybe, he would be able to tap into some obscure web page, or however his power worked she really wasn't entirely sure, and come up with some magic solution to her current problem.
"David, I am so glad to see you, something terrible has happened. Or maybe terrible isn't the right word for it, but something very strange and possibly dangerous." She had to struggle to keep her words slow and understandable, even though the more she spoke the more the rising sense of panic in the back of her mind began trying to creep up on her. "I think I've somehow been transformed into a cat person or maybe stolen a cat person's body or something. I don't know what the hell is going on and I hoped you would be able to tell me something." She took a deep breath, realizing that her hands were starting to shake and that she was still on the ground.
"I do admit this makes littile sence, but for now we must make do" she said noting the name Shana away for future refrence as well as what the girl looked like. She was cute but if she wa sliving here, it was possible she would have to fight or even kill her. She did not press asking what Shana could do, it was importent yes, but Aura was ditracted by somthing, in his mind. When she asked her mind to store the info, she had somhow opened what looked like her e-mail account, wardemons@bloodsport.com and had even opened a message with info saved. Instead of sending it she curiously mad eit go to drafts. Davids power was he could connect to the internet whenever he wnated it seemed, but it took concentration, and her facination shatterd when somone ran into her, she felt the impact but only heard "Good bye", as she logged off rather suddenly.
"Um yea McFluff, the good news is we don' think your nuts, the bad news is you get to help paddile this biat were all on" she said dryly. David could know so many people and she wonderd just wjo this was. "Who are you, Im jessica this is Audrey, you said?" she asked beleiveing she had recalled the name correctly, hoping she had. "You were right about suddenly running into terrafied people" she said, her words hideing her fear and her thoughts, this was in one way a terrable thing and in another a boon. If she could use this body right, she could very well eliminate the orders worst enimys, the x-men in one strike. Their were issues with her plan, deep issues and one of them was that she had to get to her money, most of it was in sanctuary, but if she went thare, and somone had been in her body she might run into them and she had to avoid that at all costs. It was strange but the plan needed her to keep this body for awhile longer. She had to get to the warehouse, she had stored many wallets thare,a nd some of the credit cards worked and most still had money of various amounts in them.
"I know him, as this one said his name is David, he helped me make a withdrawl from a bank once with a friend of ours. He can log onto the internet any time just by concentrating, it's rather annoying though, i keep hearing pop up adds." she said shaking her head "Being a boy is weird, but i miss my powers more then anything and my pet skunk, poor solkat is not used to being alone much" she said for the first time thinking of he rpet since she woke up. She hoped the poor deer could find somthing to eat.She was dropping a few obscure hints, she knew not who Fluff was, but she might be from the sanctuary and might know her and for the most part it was true, they had made anice withdrawl with david.
"Let's just hope non of this is permanent" she said shaking her head, she really hoped it wa snot, but even if it was, she would make the best of it. She would do her best for her cause no matter what obstacle came in her way. Aura figured it would be a bad idea to reveal who she really wa sfor many reasons, one the mansion residents were likely not smitten with her and two she had bad encounters with many people from here, Ari, and shape girl from the jewel shop and the list went on. She worried their was somone in her body, if their was she hoped the idiot would not go outside, the cops might just like a talk.
Audrey stood casually, leaning a little against the wall in case she lost balance due to fear, or in case someone decided it would be nice to bump into her. She was watching as this David!Jessica person went into some kind of trance. It was so deep, she didn't even seem to notice when Audrey had spoken about the Telekinesis, not to mention when the vase had collapsed. What was wrong? And then that's when it happened, from behind Jessica, a large fluffy and golden cat woman came crashing into David. That did it, and the woman inside him came back to reality. "What's wrong?" Audrey asked Jessica about her lack of attention these past few minutes. She was about to add something else but the Kitty cat woman started speaking.
Was it just Audrey, or did she seem confused? As if she wasn't in her own body? The plan was working very well without having Jessica and herself do much woirk. Their theory was rather quickly confirmed. Kitty cat girl here was also someone who'd switched bodies. It was interesting, maybe there was more people... "Yes, I'm Audrey. she told Jessica. "I live a few blocks away near Times Square. I woke up this morning in my friend's body without any reason. I don't think it's a Mutant who is doing this. At least if it is, it sure has to be a damn well powerful one." she suggested to the two of them. Telling their theories was the best way to start gathering clues.
Audrey simply listened as Jessica talked about random things like her skunk Solkat. What did that have to do with anything? Although this was getting them nowhere, she decided to wait. When she was done speaking, Audrey went on with what she'd been thinking about as a theory. "Okay, so let's get to business shall we? We know for a fact that something is wrong and Mutants are suddenly changing bodies with others. I figured we could walk around and try to find people we know that live here... Or people we know that are stuck in the body. What do you guys say?" That sounded fair enough.

Meld blinked at the two of them, somewhat confused. It was a relief to know that she wasn't the only one who had somehow found herself in a new body, at least, though that brought up all sort of other questions. Like, for example, how had they all gotten new bodies? And why? And then the person who was not David mentioned a certain bank transaction and that definitely rang a bell in her head. She had been a part of that bank transaction and, since there had only been her, David and one other, it wasn't difficult to realize that the person staring out from David's eyes was, in fact, her friend Aura. Which brought up another important question: Was whoever or whatever was doing this targeting Order members and if so to what purpose?
"My name's Aris," Meld said, knowing that, other than those in charge of running The Order, Aura was one of the very few people in the city that actually knew her by that name. She had all but abandoned her human name since coming to the city and there were, maybe, 3 people in the entire city that knew it, so it seemed safe enough to introduce herself as such now. She had no idea who the other woman was, no idea if she was also an Order member or not and didn't feel safe revealing herself to a stranger until she discovered whether or not it would be safe to do so.
When the other woman spoke, introducing herself as Audry, it confirmed in Meld's mind that she was, indeed, not an Order member, or at least, if she was it was one she had never met or heard of before. That didn't negate her theory, however, since if they were forced to switch bodies with others then certainly the minds of the bodies they were currently in had to go somewhere. "Do you think we're being targeted specifically?" She tried to give Aura!David a meaningful look but wasn't sure if she succeeded in getting the true meaning of her question across with the strange new face.
Meld carefully made her way back up to her feet. The world seemed steady once again and she thought there was a good chance that it would stay that way as long as she didn't try anything too radical. Fighting might be a problem until she got used to it so she hoped to not have to do any fighting any time soon. "Discovering how many people and which people this has happened to seems like a good plan," Meld agreed. Talking seemed to be getting a little easier, once she figured out exactly how to move her tongue around her extra teeth it wasn't so hard. "I know a couple of people here, maybe they can help. Mettaliar and Ghost. Do either of you know them?"
Although now that she thought of it she wasn't entirely sure that she wanted anyone in the Mansion knowing that she had lost her body and was now vulnerable. Not that she thought either of those two would take advantage of it anyway, but she was certain that there were more than a few Mansion dwellers who would, should they discover that it was here in the cat body, try to kill her or worse. She wasn't exactly on the good side of most of the innocent do gooders of the city.
"Nothing is wrong, this body it seems to wnat to connect to the internet all the time. I keep hearing pop up adds in my mind. It's distracting and a bit disorientating but i should be all right" she said a lie really, she was trying to figure out Davids powers so that she could use them. Both becuse she wanted to understand how to use them to defend herself and to capitilize on a golden oppertunity. "So are we still in new york?" she asked tilting her head a bit confused. If it wa sbeleived she came from Canada figuring out who she was would get harder, and she needed time and an alias certainly so, if she met david, assuming he was alive.
"Can't say i do, im failry sure were not near whare i live" she said looking out the window. "Makes you wonder just how far it pulled people from" she said considering this might be more then city wide, though not so far from she had seen. "We need to get some control over these new powers as well, more so with fluffy" she said of the cat woman, her voice one more of concearns he was beginning to get the hang of the voice. "visable mutants get attacked more often, well each of us might be able to defend against that in our own bodies....." she let it hang, trying to punctuate the need to be careful. It was also a refelction of her own worries, she felt so very vulnrable.
Rubbing her head she stopped for a moment her eyes lsoeing focus as she drifted back online. It wa shard to maintain still but with concentration she could pull up webpages. Checking the news she gazed over it quickly before her eyes quickly opened again, she was sweating she realized. "Whatever this is, it had not hit yahoo news yet" she said rubbing her head again, she assumed it was her lack of skill with the power that was the biggest issue. "wow thats a rough ride" she said with a smile.
In truth the power drain was minamel, it took a lot of concentration, but the power was mental like her own. Only this was sort of like floating in a sea of information. It was confuseing and hard to stay focussed on a single page, but she was beginning to figure things out, still with the concentration it took, the power was worthless in combat, she needed a gun or somthing, maybe a bat to feel a bit more secure.
So…What was her name again? Jennifer? Anyway, Audrey listened as the girl spoke of the ability her new body possessed. “So, this guy is some kind of Technopath?” she suggested thoughtfully. There was a lot of potential here, and a thought crossed her mind. What if this girl was bad? What if she was one of the Order people? She could very well take advantage of this and hurt the X-Men or any other Mansion resident. Audrey may not want to live here, but she cared about these people and their cause. She’d even admitted it to Ghost yesterday before the Rally. She kept quiet however, letting no emotion of doubt cross her face. Her lying ability was better now that she’d calmed down, and it wasn’t even lying. Jessica—yes that’s her name—wasn’t even asking about loyalties and whatever.
Audrey could see that the Cat woman was relieved, probably to find that she wasn’t alone in this. Yet, another part of her mind told the Shapeshifter that Kitty was also confused. Actually, Audrey was feeling exactly the same way as her right now, minus all the fur and cat urges maybe. Aris was her name, Aris and Jessica. She didn’t know whether or not she could fully trust these people, but she had to try. They had bodies depending on them somewhere. “Nice to meet you Aris.” she said politely, wondering whether it was a good idea to shake hands or not. It wasn’t that she had fur and claws… She didn’t care at all about the other’s appearance (Well, the person who owned the body normally) but actually, it was the thought that maybe it wasn’t the best situation to shake hands.
Shaking hands was sometimes used when people made deals. Maybe the Cat lady had other tricks up her sleeve and could do something by touching people. As Aris got to her feet, a stupid comment escaped her lips, which she quickly wished to take back. “You know, I never saw a cat without great balance.” Yes, it was idiotic, she didn’t usually say things like this, but it wasn’t a usual time! Plus, she wasn’t in her body, when all of this was over the three would most likely never see each other again. Then Jessica asked about still being in New York. “Oh yeah, I’ve been to this Mansion before.” she assured them, ”It’s in New York, unless it was switched with some other building…” Yeah, she knew it wasn’t funny too.
Then Jessica commented on Mutants with Physical Mutations being targeted a lot quicker, and Audrey couldn’t help but frown at them. They could very easily be Order people; there weren’t many things that could prove otherwise right now. Though when she thought about it, it didn’t mean they were bad either…Just because they both seemed to be talking and leaving pieces out. For some reason, it was as if they knew each other but didn’t want her knowing that fact. “The Mansion is very safe, as far as I heard.” she assured Aris. “If you don’t feel comfortable walking around the City, a lot of people can help you here. Though if you want to know what I think…” she paused smiling a little, “I think in a few minutes, we’ll all wake up from this nightmare.”

Meld wondered if Aura had caught the reference of her name and hoped that she had. It would make things far easier that way but even if she hadn't she vowed that at some time she would get Aura alone and away from inquisitive ears. If she knew her friend as well as she thought she did, then Meld was sure that she was going to try and take advantage of this situation, bizarre though it was, and find out as much as she possibly could about the enemy and possibly even do more than mere information gathering. For her own part Meld had more than a slight inclination towards information gathering as well. She wasn't quite so certain that those in the mansion were enemies, at least not all of them, but it could never be remiss to have knowledge. There was, after all, no small amount of power that could be gained through proper application of the right bits of knowledge.
"I've been here before," Meld stated. She began wandering up and down the corridor, almost pacing, trying to get used to her new way of seeing the world. It wasn't so difficult, really, it just wasn't what she was used to. In a few days she was fairly sure she would be proficient enough in its use to get by without any great trouble, although it would likely take far longer to be able to rely upon it in the context of a fight. She hoped, however, that she wouldn't remain in this strange body long enough for that to become an issue.
"Nice to meet you as well," Meld replied without making any attempt to shake hands. She knew neither who this person was nor what kind of powers she possessed and, all things considered, physical contact didn't seem the most intelligent option. In addition to the stranger being a potential threat, she had no idea about the strengths and vulnerabilities of her new form.
"This is the Mansion," Meld affirmed, nodding. Nodding was a mistake, as it turned out, and she wavered on her feet a moment before catching herself. Yes, that would definitely take some getting used to. "I'm fine walking outside if need be." Her present form wasn't all that much more visible than her her usual form, but there was no reason for the other girl to know that. "But I think you're right, this would be the best place to start. We need to find out what's going on, why this has happened and, most importantly, how we fix it." Her voice was strong and sure, giving no hint to any doubts that she might be feeling. "I believe I speak for all of us in saying that getting our own bodies back should be our top priority."
"Good to meet you Aris" Aura nodded in her new male body, then the girl in Shana's body brought up an interesting thought. "One must wonder if building them selfs could not be altered, maybe this is some sort of alternate reality" she said thinking to herself aloud. "i would say that's not possible, but i also figured becomming male over night was impossible to" she said again looking down at her flat chest. It was odd to see still but for now she would have to deal. Aura knew the name Meld had said, but tried to react little to it, after all her cover was that she was not around here, and to go against it would amke Audrey or shana wonder without need. These two did have one thing Aura considerd them lucky for, both had at least maintained their genders, she wished she ahd been able to keep that, though her power more so.
"this place does seem safe, i mentioned that becuse i have seen Mutants attacked for walking down the street made of glue and the like. Still most people are kind decent people and we should be safe together" she said with a nod to Aris. her concern was true, after all they had no idea how to use these bodies in the slightest. That meant they were in danger at every moment. Aura was used to having a solid defense on her own and now she felt like she would have to hide if fighting really started. Still if they started at the Mansion maybe she could get some info. "But where to start and who to trust not to throw us into the rubber rooms" she said looking around the corridor which were kind of more empty then she figured they might be.
"hey, do you have a phone Audrey? If so you could try calling your house, if we did switch places, maybe whoever is in your body will be at your house just as confused as us" she said wondering if the same reaction would occur from David at the mansion. The call made the most sense and it would give them a few moments at least to talk. "you are cute though" she said to the kitty girl. She actually found Meld's new form far more attractive then her old one for some reason. She did hope meld as well as herself could get back to their own bodys and if they could she would help Audrey to get hers back as well. Again she pulled at hair that was not there any longer. "Sooo annoying" she said, glancing up despite not being able to see the hair. Stretching she peered around a corner and then walked a few feet down it. "Guess we should start" she said.
When Jessica mentioned alternate reality, it got Audrey thinking. This could very well be an Alternate reality, they’d have to go outside to find out more though. Maybe Audrey could do that after the three managed to separate. Audrey was hungry too… Maybe breakfast at a Café nearby would help her sort things out. Anything to get out of the Mansion, a place, she told herself, that only attracted trouble. So far, New York only attracted her trouble! More then Louisiana at least, which was hard to believe after everything that had happened in her life down South. Anyway, she made a mental note to go around the City at places she’d visited. Maybe drop by Full Circle and see if Ghost was there, or find Ghost here.
”Okay, right. Hopefully we can fix it.” she said, leaning against the wall and looking around. The vase she’d shattered earlier was quivering a little as she concentrated. She could always get a little practice with Shana’s ability, just in case this was more or less a long-term thing. She really hoped not, but still it would be good that things stayed on the ground when she walked by. In more ways then not, Telekinesis was going to be a lot better then her old Shape shifting powers. She had no doubts about that part.
"This place does seem safe; I mentioned that because I have seen Mutants attacked for walking down the street made of glue and the like. Still most people are kind decent people and we should be safe together"
”I know, but what some Mutants do don’t help the cause.” she muttered, remembering a few short weeks ago when two Order people had attacked a Human for simply bashing on Mutants. Sure, what the Jeweler had said wasn’t right either, but it wasn’t fair for him to be attacked for it! It had been good that Jewel and herself had been there during Aura and the strange-looking girl’s stupid attack. Sure, Audrey had been hurt pretty badly, but DocProf, the man who worked at the Infirmary, was a Miracle worker.
”I don’t know much more then you do about who to trust, but where to start? I think going around the Mansion is a good idea.” Then Jess asked about a cell phone. ”Oh, I don’t know, my cell phone is in my back pocket in my own body back home. Can’t you use David’s power? I’m not sure if you can pull it off yet, but it’s worth a try.” She wasn’t sure if Shana had a cell phone, as Audrey checked for pockets in Shana’s PJs, she thought of maybe getting dressed. Also, maybe having a look around the blue-haired girl’s room could help make sense of things, maybe…
”You guys go ahead; I’ll catch up in five. I’ll just put on some clothes and see if I can find some clues in Shana’s room.” She watched as Jessica started walking down the other corridor, and then gazed at the Kitty girl. ”Are you sure you're okay? You seem off-balanced.” Sure, being in another's body was disorienting, but weren't cats good with agility?

Meld inclined her head slightly towards the David shell that housed Aura's mind, contemplating her words carefully. Could they be in some sort of alternate reality? She had never before considered such things, they were too far out of the realm of practicality to give much thought to but, she supposed, it was as likely a possibility as anything else. And, if that was the case, then perhaps no one was in their own bodies after all. Perhaps they had been ripped from their own reality and forced to inhabit these strange forms and within the confines of the Mansion. She visibly shuddered at the thought.
"I don't believe that, at this point, we can rule anything out," Meld said. "Whether we have been forced into another dimension or our bodies swapped with those of someone else, the fact remains that we were targeted and are now in danger." It did seem logical to assume that someone had targeted them, after all. She paused for a minute, considering. She knew that she and Aura had enemies a plenty, both humans and mutants who didn't appreciate their somewhat violent means towards supporting the mutant cause, but what about this other woman? "Perhaps the first thing we need to establish is if the three of us have any potential enemies in common. It might give us a place to start." Of course there were always the mutant haters, but they would get to that when they got to it.
Meld gave Audrey a sharp look when she mentioned that some mutants didn't help the cause. Not that she disagreed, exactly, but something in the way she said it led her to believe that the other woman was referring to those like herself; those that believed a little violence was sometimes necessary to promote the cause. If true it was an interesting revelation and she vowed to keep a very close eye on the girl. "I'll be ok," Meld answered her. "This body doesn't see like a normal body. I think its movement based but its a little hard to get used to." She smiled in a way she hoped was reassuring.
"I suggest we separate and meet back here in a few hours," Meld suggested. "See what we can discover and then converge and compare notes." She hoped to be able to speak to Aura alone before meeting back with Audrey. With any luck the two of them would be able to take advantage of the present situation and gather some intel on their potential enemies before everything was put to rights again.
