The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Replaying the message he had just sent to his girlfriend, well now ex-girlfriend a knot formed in his stomach as the air around him felt hard to breath. He knew what he said he just couldn’t believe that he actually spoke it, on the phone nonetheless. His mind flashed back to the moment he entered his room and got Leila’s answering machine, “Leila…. It’s Sam….” he could still remember the pause as he gathered all of his courage to state the facts and his thoughts ”Listen, things…. Are complicated right now, I don’t know where you are or if your alright, I know your tougher than most people think so I don’t think your in any danger but… I didn’t want to do this on the phone but your gone and I have no way of getting a hold of you… I’m sorry but I’m going to have to put a halt on the relationship, if you want talk sometime in the future you have my number…”
Staring at his phone Sam slammed it shut and threw it to the bed letting it thud softly as Cammie decided to pounce it. “Why are girls…” he paused running his hand through his hair as he decided it was time to shower, “Not all girls just the ones I seem to pick…” slamming the door Sam looked to Bruno who lifted his head in curiosity and let out a small whine as Sam obviously looked stressed out. Hoping from the spot on the floor to Sam’s bed Bruno curled up as Cammie jumped on the large dogs back to curl up into a ball and fall asleep.
Letting out a small laugh Sam took off his shirt deciding it was high time he washed this self loathing feeling he had right now after breaking up with his girlfriend through an answering message. It was a low way to break up with anyone but the lack of seeing a loved one made people do crazy things, and considering the day it was important that she was here. It might have been out the hatred for the day but it was had to be done he might as well pile up reasons to hate a day he already despise so.
Grabbing the towel hanging off a small towel rack by his dresser Sam stripped down to his birthday suit tossed the towel over his shoulder and grumpingly made his way for his bathroom in hopes that another shower could make the day go by faster.
Okay, so there was no answer what so ever from inside the door and Alexandra was loosing her patience. What should she do? Try again or seal the whole room and voila, mission complete? But after seeing the expression on the mansion resident’s face minutes before she guessed that he wasn’t in the mood to talk and he was just ignoring her. Then what? Seal him away and guard the door? Well, besides the fact that it was suspicious and strange, the self-imposed solitude he had chosen was killing her. Well, Sam Johnson was going to speak with her whether he liked it or not.
So choosing the third and the newest option of them all, a determined look appeared on her face as she practically stormed in Sam’s room. And then… she stood, frozen somewhere at the boundaries of Sam’s room and the hallway. Her hand slipped of the door knob as her eyes widened in shock. She had done it again.
There, in his room, in front of her very own eyes was a naked Sam. And, no, it wasn’t the usual half naked, bare-chested one, it was a completely nude Sam, if you could scratch the towel hanging on his shoulder away. Her sky blue eyes went up, searching for his own while her vocal chords seemed to have lost the capability to make her speak.
“I-I-I-I’m…so… very… really…” Gulp. “s-s-sorry.” she finally managed to speak as her cheeks were starting to feel like o hot stove and the familiar dark red color returned to them. The why the heck are you still starring?
As if someone had electrocuted her, she turned around so fast that would have put any speed mutant to shame, her intention to leave the room. Hell with everything, she had just walked in his room and seen him naked. Naked.
But bad luck, just like the mental image who was still lingering in her mind, seemed to cling on her every time it got its claws on her. This particular time it chose to manifest itself under the appearance of some other mansion residents that were just about to enter the hallway. And she was just getting out of Sam’s room. There was no possible way that someone would see her walk out of Sam’s room now that she had just lost the reputation as his snoo-snoo partner.
Her body acted before her mind could even give a second thought to the idea and Alexandra slammed the door closed at top speed. “I can’t-” And she was turning around once again, trying to explain Sam that she couldn’t leave the room yet, forgetting that the Sam standing there was naked.
Her head turned around once again, this time facing the door, and Alexandra Kettler closed her eyes. Sigh. “I can’t leave now.” she said in a defeated tone, her shoulders going down as she starred at the door and wondering how bad it would look if she started banging her head against it.

To busy wrapped up in his current thoughts and mental self-abuse Sam didn’t realize there had been a knock at the door if there even was one to begin with. All he knew one moment he was in his room by himself with no living thing but Cammie and Bruno next thing he knew a red faced Alexandra was staring at his unclothed figure.
Shaking his head slightly still in utter disbelief that she just walked in on him heading to the shower Sam froze not moving. ‘Maybe she won’t see me’ thought Sam in a lame attempt to stay invisible, Alex was not a dinosaur and as far as Sam could tell she had fair vision so his ‘Don’t move and won’t be seen’ plan just went out the window.
“Ghaaa-alright” mumbled Sam still a tad to embarrassed to move from the frozen position that he now held his arms at his side his chest and face aimed towards Alex and one leg facing the bathroom the other facing Alex. Slightly relieved but a bit disappointed as Alexandra turned to face the open hallway Sam could move again but still was to slow to react his mind still racing half of his brain trying to come up with something witty the other half screaming to his hands to grab the towel and cover up.
As she slammed the door Sam closed his eyes and tried to wake up from his nightmare turned dream. But this couldn’t be happening, she just slammed the door and remained in his room turning to take another look at him. Now his body reacted unfortunately his face reacted in a way he didn’t want it to act. His lips twitched as his eyebrows raised and his face turned blood red. His thought shot to his hands as they finally received the signal as Sam belatedly grabbed the towel and wrapped it around his lover half of his torso.
“I can’t leave now.”
He watched as her back expanded and contracted as if a sigh was let out or she was relived at something, his heart racing again Sam’s mouth seemed to move as he muttered at first but then spoke clearly, “Wh-wh- why didn’t you knock?” he took a step back in the direction of his clothes from earlier on the ground and continued, “And why can’t you leave?” he asked again mentally kicking himself for not seizing the opportunity that was being presented to him. His eyes remaining fixed on the back of Alex’s head so he would be more aware if she was going to turn again, if she did hopefully he could glance at her expression to see what exactly she was doing here.
Too lost in the contemplation of the door and hearing if those damn mansion residents had any intention of leaving the hallway Alexandra wasn’t really paying much intention to what Sam was saying. Hell, it was hard when even hearing his voice caused the damn mental picture of him naked to play in her mind over and over again.
“Uhmm, there is someone… errr… outside… and-” What? Sam’s words replayed in her mind and once again she reacted without thinking. “What do you mean I didn’t knock?” Her body turned to face Sam as soon as her mouth opened. Seriously, she did knock. Was he implying that… “You think I wanted to see you naked?” The darkening red color in her cheeks made her point there. Not knowing what exactly she felt when she saw him was difficult enough and seeing him naked didn’t help.
Out of instinct, her eyes trailed off his face down to his neck, his muscular chest, chiseled abdomen and stopped at the towel covering the lower half of his body. What exactly was she doing? Blue eyes shot up instantaneously. “Gah. The point is…” A hand went on her hip as she let out a defeated sigh. “I knocked” Still starring at his face, she remembered that she was supposed to let him dress instead of looking at him like an idiot. “Errr…” She cleared her throat embarrassed as the hand that rested on her hip slid down. “I’m going to turn around now.” she said, but her figure didn’t move one inch. “To, uhmm, let you get dressed.” she added making the awkward moment even more awkward. After a few more seconds she finally turned around to see her best bud and worst enemy of this day… the door.

Still slightly dumbfounded by the situation the blood soon ran from his face to return it to a normal completion as Alex continued to stare at the door and pretending to not know that he was naked behind her, or so he could assume. As she continued to stare at the door the image of Alex topless in the pool then her topless pressing her chest against him in the same pool, shaking his head to try and shake the thoughts from his mind he thought, ”Time and place for everything, now is not that time…” he had to focus on what was happening now, he just broke up with Leila and he was already feeling something for the girl in front of him who just barged in his room and saw him naked… twice!
There was no question about it, even if he wouldn’t admit what he was feeling for her was something special he wouldn’t verbalize it or show any clue to what he was feeling if he could help it. But then again, lately Sam hadn’t been the most rational person when Alex was around, his thoughts often strayed to her even if he tried not to think about her that way his thoughts and feelings often twisted his mind to the point he thought of her in a light other than one of a friendship.
“You think I wanted to see you naked?”
Trying to change the topic discussion in his mind Sam noticed Alex turning around again to protest his latest comment, “well seeing as how this was the third time you looked at me…” Sam replied noting that her eyes were trailing down to his torso slightly glad and slightly upset that a towel covered his lower waist down to the top of his knees. “Up here…” Sam said as he pointed up to his face trying to get Alex’s blood red face to look at his, which was now turning slightly red again.
“I’m going to turn around now.” To, uhmm, let you get dressed.”
As she turned Sam dumbly nodded running a scenario through his head, which would make everything less weird but seeing his current situation, and the past situations him and Alex had been through it wasn’t the time or place for it. “Probably a good idea if you’re going to stay in here…” he said as he slowly walked over to his dresser no longer immobilized by the gaze that Alex had put him under.
Opening a drawer Sam spotted one of the shirts that Leila often wore whenever she decided to stay at his place. Without even realizing it Sam tossed it on the floor as he picked on of his usual tight shirts and put it on. Closing one drawer and opening another Sam’s gaze peeked up to make sure Alex was still facing the door. After a minute of rummaging Sam had slipped on some boxers and some shorts and then put the towel over his shoulder and cleared his throat to let Alex know he was done changing.
Walking over and putting his towel on his rack by the door Alex was standing next to he turned his attention to it and placed his arm on his head as one remained by his side, “So can I ask why you seemed it necessary to stay in my room while I changed after stealing a few looks?” he put a grin on his face as he mentally kicked himself ”Smooth as always Sam, way to go you be blunt girls love that!"
Her mind was completely in chaos as she turned around. Eyelashes batted rapidly as she thought the situation over and over again in her mind. She saw Sam naked. Naked. And her mind wasn’t shoving the image away… nooo… the image of her own naked form pressed against her owns played in her mind and not only. It was as if she was living that again, minus the embarrassment of being in a pool surrounded by other people. Nooo… her mind was thinking completely different things. Gah!
Soft steps broke the uncomfortable silence followed by the sound of the dresser opening. Another sigh escaped her lips as her eyes trailed off the door onto the pattern of the wall. Was there any word that could possibly describe this situation?
A few seconds passed and Alexandra tilted her head to one side inpatient. So, Sam was changing. Maybe if… No. But… Come on… Just a little? Errr… Her head turned around slightly before quickly being forced into the previous position. Just a little peek? What the hell, she already saw him naked. Her head turned now completely as she watched Sam changing next to his drawer. Nice behind.
What are you doing? Head shot back again, more blood rushing to her face in pure embarrassment. Did she just peeked on Sam getting dressed. Alexandra shook her head slightly. Something was happening with her.
The rest of the time until she heard Sam clearing his throat was spent admonishing herself for her last action. I mean, come on, she peeked at Sam getting dressed. Alexandra turned around hesitating. At hearing Sam’s comment she bit her lower lip as a hand rested on her hip. “Well, you do have a nice aaaaaaaaaaaaa-” Another hand went to her mouth. Did she just said… No. “Errr…” Hand disappeared from her mouth as she cleared her throat. Yes, act cool, pretend like nothing happened. “There is someone outside. I don’t want to be seen getting out of your room. I mean… not after the… errr, you know, pool incident.” Yeah, just a great way to act cool and pretend like nothing happened. Remind yourself and Sam about that time when you were naked. Out of instinct, she took a step back. The distance between them seemed way to short for her… troubled mind.

Waiting for an answer he gazed into Alex’s eyes without realizing what he was doing. Something was defiantly affecting him he didn’t know what it was but he didn’t want it to stop. He liked the way he felt when he looked into Alex’s eyes his heart beat quickened as his hands twitch slightly in excitement the way a child’s hands twitch in excitement when they want to touch something that caught their eye but aren’t sure if they would get in trouble for it or not. So Sam refrained from touching but continued to stare until he was fully aware that his gaze had remained fixed and Alex far longer than it should have.
As she spoke and cut off her sentence Sam’s jaw slightly lowered as he stared at her opened mouthed, “You peeked again didn’t you?” he said slightly surprised that it was now four times she had looked at him because there was no way she could have seen his rear from the first three glances. Then he thought, ”Why are we both so casual with this?” Something was defiantly going on in her and it was making him feel both excited and uncomfortable at the same time and he didn’t want the feelings of awkwardness between them to stop.
“There is someone outside. I don’t want to be seen getting out of your room. I mean… not after the… errr, you know, pool incident.”
His jaw closed his mood quickly changing to a slightly grumpy one as he walked away from her and walked towards his bed to pick up the sleeping Cammie who let out a small grumpy meow. “You don’t want to be seen with me?” he asked curiously as he wasn’t exactly sure what she was trying to say. Then it clicked and he knew almost all the rumors that had been circling the mansion about the two, “Well the fact that you had seen me naked front and back a several times might not stop the rumors that have been circulating.”
Flashing a small curious look as he placed the small cat in his lap Sam’s voice found it’s usually plain tone, “So the reason you stayed in my room was clear enough but why did you come to my room?” he paused and looked from the cat up to Alex his eyes now watching hers, “What do you need?”
“I swear it was just a second and-” Yes, there went her plan of pretending of not happening. Why did she continue to say things that only made her almost drown in the sea of embarrassment was a true mystery for the molecule manipulator. Her mouth remained slightly opened as she stopped herself from saying anything else. Well, she’d just said enough to make her turn red in embarrassment for say… the rest of her life?
Confusion rose in Alexandra’s mind as Sam’s figure quickly changed after she’d shared her reasons for still being there. Well, she must have imagining things because… he seemed disappointed in her words? A phenomenon that Alexandra most certainly didn’t understand. A frown appeared on her face as blue eyes watched Sam’s figure walk to the bed and pick up the sleeping kitten before taking a seat on it. Her look trailed off to the kitten while trying to sort out everything that was going on in her head.
The hand she had been keeping on her hip slid down as she shifted her weight on one leg. The other tucked a rebel strand of her that had fallen on her face behind her ear. A moment of more uncomfortable silence stood between them as Alexandra found herself unable to think and let alone speak.
The hand that tucked the hair slid down on her face and shoulder before falling down to form down an imperfect symmetry with the other. “Really, Sam…” she paused as her eyes left the kitten and met Sam’s. “It’s not that I don’t want to be seen with you…” Her eyes left his as she glanced for a moment at the window absentmindedly then shifted back. “But… you, well, you have a girlfriend, or so I hear…” Despite the lingering red on her cheeks, her face was serious now. Although it didn’t really seem that way, maybe this was the moment to clarify whatever was happening between them. “And me leaving your room… I think it could cause you some troubles if the rumors get to her.”
Alexandra took a deep breath before speaking any further. “And I don’t really need anything. I… just wanted to check if you need something…” Oh yes, the good, altruistic Alexandra Kettler, always concerned for the well being of others. Well, not all others. Just one person that went by the name of Sam Johnson. Why was she doing it without pretending to care but actually care about it was yet another mystery for her to solve. “You… didn’t seem to be ok in the living room.” Another pause as her mouth opened, closed then opened again. “I was concerned.” she finally spoke, her eyes shifting to the floor as she did. By the time she was finished her eyes locked with his again, unsure of what exactly she had just confessed.

Despite the situation he found it quite comical that Alex had made no attempt to hide what she was doing despite it only embarrassing her more and more in the process. However funny it might have been Sam didn’t say anything just yet he was more hurt that she didn’t want to be seen with him, again he didn’t know he cared so much that she wouldn’t want to be seen with him and again he didn’t care to hide the fact that he was somewhat hurt by her verbalizing it. All rationality seemed to jump out the window for a moment as he continued to look at her, yet again his mind was waging a war on it’s self torn between staying where he was and just talking to tossing Cammie over his shoulder and throwing himself at her.
A fast shake of the head jarred his mind to stop fighting as he continued to pet Cammie his eyes trying hard to stay fixed on the cat he was playing with but found his eyes constantly trailing up towards Alex’s hypnotizing blue gaze. Sam felt frozen under that gaze immobilized as if she could freeze his body over in seconds then just as quickly shatter the ice surrounding him.
“Really, Sam…” “It’s not that I don’t want to be seen with you…” “But… you, well, you have a girlfriend, or so I hear…” “And me leaving your room… I think it could cause you some troubles if the rumors get to her.”
He watched her move the hair from her face and felt that every movement she made was fluid and like a work of art, it was then he realized what was going on with him, it was the only way he could rationalize his recent actions and thoughts he had been contemplating breaking up with Leila for some time he just needed a reason, and here she was standing in front of him. But Alex wasn’t a good enough reason he didn’t want to dump Leila simply because Alex was here and she wasn’t. It wasn’t fair to either girl and he wanted to be fair to both of them, no way in hell Alex would be the rebound girl she was far too great for that….
“Doesn’t really matter now what she hears…” Sam said quietly as he played with Cammie’s tail he knew he said it loud enough for Alex to hear, that is one of the few reasons my mood is what it is today…” he said through a fake smile as he looked up to Alex only to be pulled back down to Cammie as she let out a small meow and started to play with his fingers. Letting out a small sigh Sam looked to his phone and said, “Ex-girlfriend… broke up with her a few minutes ago…” he didn’t look up to Alex at that point but instead looked down to Cammie and continued to play with her trying to detach himself from the situation all tighter less Alex would deem it necessary to comfort him.
“I’ll be alright.” Sam lied again this time not smiling but rather laying down his head landing on Bruno’s thick chest. Letting out a small whine Bruno’s head lifted as he placed it right next to Sam’s and let out another small whine. “Kind of hard on a relationship when your girl vanishes without a trace for close to two months… again another reason why today sucks…” he sighed then responded to Alex yet again, “I’ll be alright, once the day is over everything will go back to normal o as normal as anything can get for me…”
Sam’s answer was one that left Alexandra starring in awe at him. He broke up with his girlfriend? That was the important phone call he was talking about. Blue eyes followed his every move, as he played with the kitten, as he looked at her, as he laid down next to his dog but for the moment she wasn’t exactly sure what she was supposed to say.
She wasn’t exactly sure why suddenly her heart and mind felt much lighter and better after hearing this and why she was picturing some other ways of comforting him instead of the usual and normal talk that was supposed to happen into this kind of situation. Besides, how could she comfort him when she wasn’t feeling sorry at all for what happened in their relationship.
It was a bit of a shock for the molecule manipulator the sudden rush of until now unknown emotions. To put it shortly, she was beginning to put her finger on what was happening with her and her ‘friendship’ explanation was beginning to fly out the window at a slow but certain pace.
“Oh.” was her first reaction to his confession. She was clueless on why he was trying to hide that he wasn’t okay behind his usual but now fake smile. Maybe he didn’t wish to be comforted? Well, Sam was going to face now her usual stubbornness, and even if some embarrassing things have taken place between them and she thought about it a few times, she wasn’t planning on canceling the mission she had been given by Dom.
Alexandra moved from her position next to the door, she had given up on listening if anyone was outside a long time ago anyway, her movements slow and uncertain but altogether fluid. As she got next to Sam’s bed, she crouched down to be almost at the same face level with him. She paused as her eyes trailed to the dog then back to Sam. “I’m sorry?” Her reply certainly didn’t come as a statement, more like a question, addressed to herself rather than Sam.
She placed an elbow on the bed and tilting her head to one side she let it rest against her hand. Brown locks escaped from their constraint now framing her face as she gazed at Sam. “You said there were a few reasons…” she spoke trailing off, hoping that it won’t be necessary to force those out of him. If she wanted to make him feel better then the reasons of his sudden sadness needed to be known. Another sigh escaped her lips, she had already lost count of how many did after entering this room. She watched him trough half closed eyes before lowering them to watch the patterns on the sheet fabric. “Sam…” Eyes went up to his face again. “I really hate seeing you like this.” And she actually did.

Doing exactly what he didn’t want someone especially Alex to do after he mentioned a recent break up. He didn’t need the sympathy right now that only made him feel that much weaker and more depressed than he was right now. Watching, as Alex got closer to him his heart rate quickened slightly as she crouched down next to the bed and stared at him Sam turned his face to look at hers his eyes being trapped by her gaze once again. As she spoke not sounding as sincere as she had been since the conversation began Sam nodded to her somewhat of a question, “It was going to happen, long distance relationships suck when you can’t come in contact with your girlfriend.”
“You said there were a few reasons…”
Letting out a small laugh as he continued to watch Alex seemingly get more and more into the conversation Sam watched as she placed her elbow on his bed and leaned her head against it. “I did say that, didn’t I…” said Sam as if he remembered what he said and the meaning behind it but wished that Alex had forgotten or didn’t hear it. “You know when I was a kid I would have given anything to celebrate my birthday…” he paused now turning his gaze from Alex and looked at the ceiling as Cammie go up from his lap and walked up Sam’s torso into his chest and curled up in a ball, “After a time it stops becoming important when you're the only one to remember it let alone celebrate it.”
Feeling he was getting far to close to his history Sam finished it with, “Orphanages have the ability to rob most of the important childhood pleasures from anyone at a very young age. One of the reasons I truly hate today is all the memories that were associated with it, May twenty fifth was always a bleak day, one I would dread the day before the day of but celebrate it being over the day after.”
He paused and looked at her and said, “May twenty fifth is my birthday… I am twenty years old today…” he looked back from her and to the ceiling not really sure how to respond to her if she should wish him a happy birthday.
“Sam…” “I really hate seeing you like this.”
His head and eyes turned back to meet her gaze again and he gave a fake smile trying to sound sincere as possible, “I’m fine really, I’ll be fine…” he paused then reached out a hand to her face and stopped short, “seeing you with something other than a smile doesn’t help my overall mood either,” he said as part of his mind mentally kicked his flirtatious side in the head.
Alexandra fell silent as Sam spoke, locking her eyes on his; it always helped her read people when seeing their eyes. And although Sam seemed sincere there was something that made her have her doubts about the truthfulness of certain parts of his story, however, she didn’t mention it to him. Besides, how could she ask him to be honest with her and share his darkest secrets when the skeletons in her closet were beginning to feel a little crowded?
As he finished speaking, she closed her eyes for a few seconds. Little did he know just how much she wanted to smile and not care… The internal struggle between her old ‘do not attach yourself to someone’ and the rush of emotions was constant in her mind and each side told her to do totally different things, making her feel like she was being split in two. Sigh.
“I know that today it’s your birthday, Sam.” she confessed, opening her eyes. “I saw it in your medical file. That’s why I was in the living room earlier.” Alexandra got up from her crouched position and stood for a few seconds frozen into place before finally deciding to take a seat next to Sam. She pulled her legs up on the bed, and bent her knees so only her feet were off the bed now. Sustaining her body on one hand, she leaned slightly in Sam’s direction and her gaze went down, eyes locking with his again.
“So bad memories, huh?” she asked. A small smile appeared on her face as she looked up to the window for a second before looking back down. “You know, when I was five or six years old, I had this big, beautiful plant which I really liked. Just that one day, some leaves weren’t the brilliant green I liked but this ugly brown color. Call me stupid but I was so sad then and couldn’t wait until the gardener had to come and fix my plant. And when he did, I saw him cutting off those leaves.” Her smile widened as she felt quite silly for telling him this story. “I was so mad and asked him why was he doing this, he could kill my plant and he just told me that those leaves needed to be cut so the plant could grow bigger and much more beautiful. And you know what? He was right.”
Her blue eyes shifted to the sleeping kitten on his chest, face turning serious now, and her other hand reached to pet lightly its fur, slightly brushing Sam’s t-shirt. “It’s the same with humans and bad memories, Sam.” she stated as her eyes turned back to him, continuing to brush her fingers against Cammie’s fur. “You can’t deny that they were a part of you and you were a part of them but you have to let them go to grow stronger. You’ll never be completely happy if you let the past shadow your present.” The corner of her lips rose slightly to form an ironic smile. “Trust me, I know that.” Her hand left Cammie and brushed her own hair away from her face, finally placing it in her lap. “You were alone then, Sam but… you’re not anymore. Look around you, you have so many great friends that would love to be with you on this day. You have your brother. Why are you choosing this self imposed solitude when you now have who to celebrate with? Let the past go, Sam, no matter how hard and dark it was.” she trailed off, lowering her voice as she spoke the last words and paused, waiting to see if Sam was going to protest.

Nodding his head slightly as he continued to shift his gaze from Alex to the ceiling slightly irritated that she confessed that she knew that his birthday was today he was curious who else knew. One person was one thing but when more and more people started saying ”Happy Birthday” Sam was afraid that he might deck someone once he heard it a few times. It was bad enough Alex knew but luckily she had yet to say the two words he didn’t feel like hearing today.
The second Alex had touched down on the bed his heart skipped a beat as thoughts started racing in his mind, ”It’s not happening! Just broke up, she is no rebound!” his eyes trailed from the ceiling back to Alex as she was clearly looking at him. Mind racing almost as fast as his heart was he now wished he had the power to read minds to tell exactly what she was thinking… then again four peeks and her now sitting on his bed and looking at him Sam knew he didn’t need telepathy to figure out where this was going if Sam didn’t try and veer off to the side and pull the car over.
“Bad Memories,” Sam repeated after Alex was done with her story be it true or not. She had a valid point one that he knew he would have to accept if Sam wanted to truly be happy. But he had made a promise to someone as well as his self that he had to try and do what he could to make sure there wasn’t another ‘602’ let alone what number Ghost got. Regardless if it was to sacrifice his own happiness he was going to try and fulfill said promises.
If he wasn’t in such a deep trance of a thought process he would have given a reaction of some kind when Alex brushed up against his shirt as she was petting his cat. However as he continued to brood over what had been said Sam breathed in and then exhaled to reply to her questions and statements. “Your right…” he paused knowing that Alex would have been incapable of knowing how ‘Dark’ his past exactly was and seeing as he wasn’t going to tell her in fear of scaring her off or making her think differently about him he nodded and looked to her with a smile, “Your right, the past is behind me…consider it forgotten! I have people here now who care about me” said Sam as he lied about the forgetting. Without knowing reached out for Alex’s hand that was in her lap.
“Thank you…” Giving it a quick squeeze then rubbing his thumb for a second on her hand Sam realized what he was doing and snapped his hand away so fast Cammie jumped up and looked around surprised curious to see what the source was, “Ummmm…” Sam said his face blushing slightly as he scratched his nose trying to down play the hand snapping, “Sorry…”
It surprised Alexandra just how quickly Sam agreed with forgetting everything. Well, she wanted him to forget whatever was bothering him but after being so grim about his birthday and such it made her think that he was saying it just to be left alone. However, it surprised her even more when he reached for her hand, giving it a slight squeeze and rub. A gesture that certainly was unexpected. His touch felt like a low intensity electrical shock and made her flinch slightly, barely noticeable.
Clearing her throat as he pulled his hand to ‘rub his nose’, she felt the burning sensation in her cheeks again and by the looks of it, Sam had the same reaction. Moving the fingers on the hand Sam had just touched out of instinct, she put on a smile to stop the awkwardness that would have followed the touch.
“It’s fine.” she said. Straightening her self so she wouldn’t need to sustain her weight in one arm, she freed her other hand and put it in her lap with the other. After glancing slightly at Cammie who had been scared by Sam’s sudden move she looked back at Sam. He certainly looked like he needed some serious cheering up. “And now, Sam, you’d better forget and start smiling or I’m gonna…” Her voice trailed off as the imitation of an evil grin often seen in cartoons appeared on her face. “Tickle you!” One hand was raised in the air, her fingers wiggling in the air. Moments later, her hand descended in her attempt to tickle Sam.

He touched her hand and the connection was made it felt weird like his heart was moving so fast the hand he touched Alex with went numb slightly either his brain was sending him a signal or he was about to have a heart attack. Waiting for a moment and feeling no sharp pain in his chest Sam decided it was a sign of some kind he didn’t know yet what the sign meant all he knew was that he should be more careful if he was going to continue on and try to remain friends for as long as he could with her despite the obvious shift on the ‘Friend vs. Romance’ scale.
Noticing the color of red that Alex’s face had taken up as she smiled and cleared her throat Sam made a note to kick him self in the near future. Despite the smile she was sporting Sam could only describe this current situation as awkward. Maybe not so much for her but more for him, he just broke up with Leila only moments before and now he had Alex, one of the mansions hottest residents on his bed and all he could think about was how he shouldn’t do anything other than talk or something thing along those lines. It wasn’t fair to Alex if he jumped from Leila to her, Alex was far beyond the rebound girl and Sam didn’t feel like lowering Alex’s status in his eyes to that.
Watching as Cammie slinked off of his chest and to the her pillow Sam looked back to Alex who was had an evil grin on her face. The one the stereotype bad guy had, as he was about to do something super evil in the Saturday morning shows that he started to watch recently.
“And now, Sam, you’d better forget and start smiling or I’m gonna…” “Tickle you!”
Sam’s eyes widened as he looked at Alex’s wiggling fingers as she continued to smile her evil smile, “You’re joking….” She wasn’t he said it as soon as her hand descended and tried to tickle him. One of Sam’s weaknesses was that he was somewhat ticklish Leila had made a point to exploit that whenever they decided to mess around. Him being ticklish must be a well-known fact in the community seeing as almost any girl he ever dated tried to tickle him on separate occasions.
His body didn’t respond as he tried to move his body in protest as she continued to tickle and as he started to laugh, “Come on!” he said in-between bursts of laughter as he then decided to tickle back as Bruno lifted his head and jumped from the bed in the sudden uproar of laughter.
As Sam attempted to roll over and raise himself from his laying position he lost his balance as she continued to tickle which caused him to fall back onto the bed. Grabbing hold of Alex’s tickling hand he pulled her into him hoping that she would be off balance Sam decided to counter attack both of his hands wiggling to Alex’s sides with a grin his fingertips smoothed over in a thin layer of ice so his tickling attacks were that much effective. “What do you say to that?” Sam grinned waiting to hear Alex respond in laughter.
