The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They arrived at the waters edge where some of the men travelling with Kitiri got into one boat together, others got into Kayaks, and there were some still already in Kayaks.
These weren't the traditional birch bark vesseles of the old days, but American made plastic and metal. They supported the men well. "Sam here will hopefully keep you all from going under." he said slapping Sam on the back and getting into his own beached Kayak and shoving off into the water. A harpoon threaded with rope laid across the 'lap' of his kayak. "We still use the old fashioned tools though." he said.
Kitiri was silent as he pulled a kayak over for Sam. "When you're ready." Naveed said. "We're heading East where there's a traveling Pod. We're taking out an old male."

As the approached the edge Sam smiled and raised his hand to everyone trying to seem friendly as possible, “Lot of guys here,” Sam said to Naveed as he looked at all the people sitting in either Kayaks or getting into them. Sam wasn’t sure if he should be getting in the kayaks like Naveed was or just swim. If he had a choice Sam would have preferred to swim but after he got that look from Kitiri he wasn’t sure it was the best idea. So swallowing his pride Sam looked to his Kayak and hopped in it and paddled next to Naveed who was the only other person he knew here.
Noticing another large amount of looks he got after Naveed slapped him on the back and made his comment Sam again just smiled. “How often does that happen?” Sam asked wondering if it would be better to get out and not use the Kayak, sure they could move but Sam on ice was much faster and was way safer.
As he familiarized himself with the Kayak and the harpoon Sam said with somewhat confidence, “Think I’m ready,” he thought for a second, “How do you tell the old males from the others?” trying to figure out how to get a good balance in his Kayak Sam stuck his fingers in the water and smiled. Still in his shorts and t-shirt Sam was hoping he would have a chance to swim. Looking back to his backpack Sam doubled checked and made sure it would remain fastened to his small boat.
Pushing the rope father down in his Kayak as he fastened his harpoon to the front Sam looked to Naveed and said, “How may times have you done this?”
ooc: I am SO sorry this took me so long. It's been one thing after another. Forgive me!
ic: "I've done it three times before, it happens usually once a year. Regulated and all." replied Naveed. "Twice as a teenager back before Raina left... and once as a child with my.. Father." he went silent. He knew he wasn't the first mutant in the world to have issues with the topic of parental units but damnit Naveed wasn't about to talk to ice boy here about it.
"The old males are a lighter colour, they're bigger, and they've got more... well... to you it's going to look like giant white spots. It's really parasites that are all grouped together living on them. Kinda look like barnacles. But first we paddle out and look for the spouts. So if you see any gushes of water into the air let me know. We'll see those first before we see anything.
**** (feel free to fill in gap)****
Kitiri was the one to give the order to circle when the first spouts were spotted. Naveed veered his kayak and the waves from the whales slapped across him threatening to topple him into the icey depths if he wasn't careful. It was later than he thought it would take them and the sky was darkening and getting misty. If they wanted to get the carcass back to shore they needed to do this quick. "That's the one we want Jack frost!" he said pointing to a straggling spout pulling up the rear and of course not calling CS but his real name or even his code name... once again. He paddled as hard as he could against the waves.
The eerie sound of the whale's song could now be easily heard. It mixed with the wind and the soaring gulls. Naveed readied his harpoon. "first shot kid." he said looking to CS. "You should ice up the rod of your harpoon. I don't think they're heavy enough to sore through this wind with enough power to penetrate beyond the blubber. But Don't ice the sharp end or we're screwed. We need to do this fast."
He was as careful as he could looking away from CS to not give him an order. Despite the fact he was trying CS may feel an overwhelming urge to follow Naveed's directions to a T if he was susceptible to psychic attacks.

The water felt cool to the touch as he looked under him and then out to the horizon that was scattered with white and blue. Looking over to Naveed and nodding his head slightly as he retold the times he went on a whale hunt. From the way Naveed talked about it the hunt it was not just some hunt for food but more of a memory of forgotten times, this was Naveed’s way to connect with his for fathers something Sam envied having none to call his own.
“Parasites?” Sam asked with a cringed look on his face like he just smelled something rank and he could escape the scent, “You eat the parasites as well or do you go under the skin?” Sam new how to kill and catch fish and hunt for large game animals and the basic pressure points that were needed to take down a human but when it came to a whale Sam was completely ignorant. It never even occurred to him that people still hunted let alone eat whales, this was one part of the trip he would avoid telling Leila, he had a hunch she would not be a fan of this.
Once Naveed fell silent Sam searched what seemed to him the endless waters looking for a spout of water it took a while but Sam spotted one and pointed out to Naveed as the sun was refracted as the small globes of water that were in the air. “There she blows!” Sam said trying to hold back a grin at the cliché he hoped this story didn’t have a similar ending to the book.
As he listened to Naveed a sudden feeling came over him as his body started to move on it’s own. “AHhhhhh!” Sam said as his arm lifted the harpoon, which was soon covered, in ice all except the tip. His hand reached back all on it’s own as he launched the heavy harpoon into the whale’s side. “What just happened?” Sam asked to Naveed as he cried out trying to sound louder than the increasing wind waves and the whale’s sound.
ooc: again I left you with a giant wait. Sorry 'bout that. I'll be back officially on the 16th! ic: Naveed watched as the roped harpoon sailed from Sam's hand covered in ice to land perfectly on target albeit on a rather blubbery part of the whale. It wasn't going to be a fatal blow... or even a hurting one... but it didn't break loose while Naveed watched with baited breath. It stayed. "Great. Sam hang on tight to that rope and don't let go. Do whatever you have to do. He knows we're after him now and he's going to try and dive."
Naveed paddled along side Kitiri as fast as he could the two men moving in perfect unison. They got a few meteres beyond Sam and let their own roped harpoons fly nailing their target in different areas of the body- these men were set on kill. The waves lapped and nearly toppled Kitiri and Naveed reached out to steady him. "Easy man. Pull tight. Everyone else get in there now!" he ordered. Without the slightest doubt every many within listening distance obeyed Naveed's order. The melodic cries of the whale were heard along the wind and slapping water. The harpoons sailed overhead connecting with their victim with a sickening thud. The water ran red with the whales blood and Seagulls started swarming over head. "keep your wits about you men! The sharks will come." there weren't too many species of sharks that could survive in this cold water- but the Greenland shark was one. Though Naveed as a child would catch young ones with his bare hands the bigger ones that were anywhere from 6 to 10 meteres could be trouble- especially in a pack. People always underestimated the Greenland Shark, he wasn't about to be one of them.
"Alright, alltogether now.. Pull!"
*** Fast Forward***
Naveed stood on the icey bank with his hands on his knees stretching to crack his back. "Sitting in those little kayaks so long really makes me stiff." he looked out watching while the others carved sections out of the whale that was now beached on the ice shelf. More dog sleds were arriving to take the sections to the tribe freezer. "Nice job kid." said Naveed giving Sam a slap on the shoulder. "I mean, Sam. I thought we were done there for a while. But your harpoon really stuck. You must have given it a big throw." he was impressed. Truth be told their own harpoons had snapped several times. He was thankful they'd each packed so many. Sams was the only one that stuck like it should.
"I guess we should be getting back. It's evening now. We'll probably be the last ones."
ooc: feel free to Gmod and fast forward and fill in any gaps with whatever you'd like!

Again when Naveed spoke Sam found him self, hanging onto the rope as tightly as he could. His stomach lurching slightly as he felt his kayak be pulled by the whale as it made an attempt to swim away, “Really hope this thing doesn’t try to dive to deep…” muttered Sa as he wished he could let go of the rope if the situation called for it. That was then Naveed said the word dive… at that point Sam looked at his tiny kayak and focused the water around it making it wider and thicker as it covered in ice. At that point he didn’t care what the other tribe members thought of him being a mutant, if his harpoon the only one in and the whale started to dive it was up to Sam to bring it up.
Watching in amazement at the unison of the men throwing the spears and the war cries, it was clear that Sam was one of the newer ones on this hunting trip. Regardless if he was experienced or not Sam knew how to pull and when Naveed gave the command Sam once again couldn’t resist the urge to pull. Sam defiantly had to ask him how he did that.
Hearing the yells of men and the snapping of some ropes Sam tightened his grip and iced his feet into the base of the kayak making it easier for him to get some good pull. Slowly but surely the whale was beginning to surface again this time not resisting much at all. “Do whales play opossum?” Sam asked curiously as a few of the broken ropes were replaced with new ones to make sure the monstrous pray wouldn’t escape.
Now out of the cramped little kayaks he nodded to Naveed as he pulled his arm across his chest for the soul purpose of a good stretch. “I could imagine, bet the boats are a lot more cushiony then again I think it would be more fun in the kayaks…” watching as teams of sled dogs carried off the whale Sam felt Naveed slap his back and complement him. “Thanks but it seems I didn’t have much of a choice did I?” letting out a slim grin and nodding to Naveed he said, “Lead the way!”
