The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Abyss set waiting in a limosine somewheere less reputable in Paris. He was meeting with a talented woman today. She was getting quite the reputation and quite frankly he knew that the Order could put her to use if she would settle down a bit. she was however less tractable than he liked these days.
He sipped something dark and bubbling out of a fine glass. He popped two pills into his mouth and rolled his neck. She would need to arrive soon to be on time and to keep with everything he had heard about her.
Mercury was being paticuklarly restless toady and leaving little peace in his min for him to think. buit such was life. Mercury had made his decisions and nw abyss was acountable for those poor decisions.
He waited patiently taking his Dark glasses off. He didn't look the part of an organized crime boss. Perhaps an enforcer, but the brains. no.
There was a purpleish hue filling the sky, as the day began it's transition into the night and a young woman in her late 20's walked down the streets of Paris. Her hair tied back in a pony tail and she was dressed in a black ladies' business suit, the blazer slightly unbuttoned to reveal some of her bust. Along with her assemble she wore black open toed heels, black shades covering her eyes and a smirk that covered her freshly coated red lips. With her brief case in hand, she made her appearance to be professional seeing as she was on her way to do some business. It was always important to her to keep a clean appearance in her dirty profession.
The heels of her shoes clicked against the pavement and her smirk grew more as she neared her destination. Just in front of her, a parked limousine and within it sat her next client. Arriving at the vehicle she gently tapped on the glass awaiting for the boss inside to open his doors for her.
The chauffer hoped out of the vehicle all business. He hadn’t even openly appreciated Today’s first appointment. He opened and held the door for the woman waiting until she was in the car and then closing it behind her. It wasn’t like the master to take to pleasure this early and so that meant this was business, and if this was business then his eyes would have done better being professional any how.
“Ah, Miss Monteiro, So nice to finally meet you. How are you this lovely evening?”
She was gaining popularity for this kind of work and he momentarily wonder if she was capable as she had been said to be or if his associates had simply appreciate their time with her and kept her around. Tonight they would find out. First they would start out with something easy.
“I assume you know who I am? If so do you have any hesitations or questions before we begin? I am afraid that I can not afford to request something and be denied tonight so if there are things you can not do, or will not do, where your line of work is concerned of course, then I suggest you turn around. If instead you are as flawless as you appear to be then, I offer you anther place to sign your name in history tonight.”
"Good evening and yes I do know who you are Mr. Syn..." Arielle responded removing her shades and set her brown eyes upon the red behemoth she sat across from. "It's kind of hard not to remember you. You have quite the following and after all, we were playing on opposite teams back in the day. Who would have known I'd that after all these years, I'd wind up doing business with the Abyss..." she smiled crossing her legs and placing her hands in her lap.
"And please feel free to begin with your request. I've yet to turn down one and there is a reason why I'm popular in this game. I'm good at what I do and nothing was ever been traced back to me or any of my other clients."
Arielle chuckled after hearing Abyss call her flawless. "Thank you. I do what I can. Now, what exactly is this place you're offering me in history?"

A smile tugged at the corners mouth, Mr.Syn was his father’s name, and it was rare that anyone ever connected that to him. Beyond that most people who knew the name, knew better than to call him by it. But she was only displaying the same knowledge he just showed her. He had thought that he had recognized the Girl, but my my how she had grown. “ They years of been kind to you.”]
"Thank you. I do what I can. Now, what exactly is this place you're offering me in history?"
“ Of course I don’t truly worry about things getting back to me in a way it is a necessity that they do. I am sure you heard This country’s president’s speech last nights. Well a few lines have offended me quite personally, from his tirade on Australia to his flippant opinions on China and Russia. More important to me than any of that is the statement about coming together would be all the world needed to do to defeat the “plague” that knocks at humanities door. Plain and simple I would like you to go and collect his head for me. I find you capable, and while I rarely mix business with pleasure, I am afraid my eyes can’t help but enjoy themselves. I look forward to seeing you tonight. If you’d like we can next meet over dinner. I ofcourse understand if you need to decline. Abyss was always careful to use his power as little as possible where these things are concerned. He pulled a small black card out of his pocket and reached across the limo. It has the payment in full.”
He leaned back in his seat. Watching her take all of this in.If she was put off by the job she hadn’t showed it.
He finally left off with this. “ Arielle, I do suggest you don’t betray me.”
"Wait a minute..." Arielle raised her hand laughing slightly at Abyss' request. "You want me to kill the President of France? Wow...just wow...." she paused for a bit. "I've never had a hit this big before....but I'm willing to take it. I haven't been caught yet and I have no intentions of ever being caught. The president's head will be as good as yours." she smiled graciously accepting her payment.

"Smooth operator aren't you?" Arielle smirked back as Abyss spat his game towards her. "I'll accept your offer of dinner, but I'm afraid anything pass that will not happen because I am actually happily married and my husband is the only one I lend my carnal services to. I have stopped and torn out many hearts Abyss, but my husband's heart is one I refuse to abuse and hurt."
“ Arielle, I do suggest you don’t betray me.”
"Ah, yes. And I suggest Avello, that you watch your tongue. I don't take kindly to threats. Lets keep this little meeting friendly, shall we? I already promised you the head, and that is that. Now...shall we have dinner now? I work better on a full stomach."

“Excellent, And so you shall go down as a revolutionary. France’s past is full of them, But you are going be quite noteworthy.”
"Smooth operator aren't you?" “Smooth or honest, I suppose you will never know. As you are spoken for and bluntly loyal, I respect that, I promise you my hands will not leave the ends of my arms.”
“oh my! I do believe I enjoy your company. I should have found a way to recruit you long ago. It was more ofa suggestion, after all I have just handed you enough money to live on for several lives, and with out having completed the work. But I suppose we shall see if that loyalty extends to your job as well.”
He tilted his head and then nodded at the woman; he would swear that she was sending him mixed signals if of course it hadn’t been for her declaration. That was a pretty clear no thank you.
“Dinner now, Lets. I know a lovely place, though I won’t request my usual secluded both.” They soon pulled up to a sky scraper. A Vallet opened the door for them and soon they were ushered on to a premier restaurant, pampered, lush and stylish in the most recent sexy French fashion. “Feel free to let your hair down as I said I relent. Are you taste buds adventurous?”
"I see. Good thing I always come prepared..." Arielle did as Abyss instructed and released her gold strands from her hair tie, as well as removing her suit and revealing a far more suitable black strapless mini dress for their little dinner. "
Taking her seat across from Abyss, Arielle grabbed the menu and began skimming over it as he asked about her taste buds. "Depends on how adventurous you're talking," she responded casually, not bothering to look up while she glanced over the restaurants selection of fine wines. "I've had my share of weird food, but I dare not eat anything too revolting. Especially unmentionable animal parts. Is there anything particular you were wanting me to try?"
Mixxed signals indeed, she began taking her hair down and removing her clothing His eye brows raised and he as promised left his appreciation at that
He let out a small laugh. "I wouldn’t recommend unmentionables. Oh, it wasn't anything in particular I had in mind, more that this venue takes a progressive spin on it. You won't find your traditional frog legs, duck or snails. But it pays to keep an open mind; they serve nothing less than the finest. Don’t bother with the wines; they will bring their finest red and white to us, unless of course you have a favorite year that their best doesn’t cover.
He relaxed and put his napkin on his lap, he had grown refined over the years. Where some time ago he would have been more than happy to hit a pub and smash beer cans on his head. He had let himself grow pampered on his way to taking over the world.
“Arielle, dear, while I have you at my table I would also like to open another proposal to you, If anyone comes to you with an offer on me or my family, then I would appreciate if you took them out on the spot instead, I will double whatever the fee is that they were offering on myself or the others for their head. Consider it an open offer, but enough of business talk. Tell me what have you been up to over the years?”

"I don't know about snails or frog legs, but I am quite fond of duck, Abyss. Though I would have to say my favorite dish would be lamb." Arielle smiled back. Which was no lie. After all, lamb was the first meal she shared with her husband those 10 years ago on their first trip to Paris.
Sprawling a napkin across her lap, Arielle reached into her purse, grasping her pocket mirror and opened it to make sure her face and hair was right. Even now, she always made sure she dressed to kill and that phrase could be taken literally at some times too. Her eye brows raised as she hear Abyss' new proposition.
"Basically, you want me to play bodyguard for you? I can't imagine why anyone would want you dead." she spoke in a subtle sarcastic tone. "Double huh? We'll see what happens." she smirked, closing her pocket mirror. "Why so interested in my history?" she questioned. "Besides starting a family, I haven't been up to much. I should be asking you the question. Just a few years ago you were just some muscled out thug, and lap monkey for The Order. Now you have accumulated all this wealth. How did you do it, Abyss? Please, amuse me..."
“No, no, not bodyguard, I haven’t gotten so far out of the game that I should need that. just merely business, if you see a good commodity you try to monopolize it before your opposition uses it against you. The “it” being your services of course. Ah, I would have thought this new line of work would have kept you away from tending to young and the dependency’s they create. As far as ever just being thuggish muscle I think the only difference there is the fact that you are better informed now about me then you were then. I have never just been a pretty face. As far as money goes, when business gets better you make more, and as you have discovered it seems those crime doesn’t pay commercials, we a bit inaccurate. I do wonder how a former lap monkey of the x-men, got into your line of work. I think that might be a bit more of a story then mine. After all mine could have been explained away as a simple climbing the career ladder story. But yours must have a juicy twist in there somewhere.”
Was he enjoying this sitting across from one of the good guys gone wrong? Yes. Was he enjoying even more hiring her to kill someone that was of no actual threat to her? Absolutely. Could he think of reasons to slam the table once, as hard as he could? possibly ending her, before she had a chance to turn into a puddle. Of course. Was he putting that off until he could see if he could push her into worse things before she found an expiration date for her self or he found one for her.
He poured a couple glasses of Red wine and commented “Lamb goes best with red of course so, red it is.” He motioned to the woman to go ahead first with his order.
"Funny how you have the nerve to call me a monkey when you're the one with the tail. And as for why I left the X-men, I couldn't be out playing hero while I had infants at home. Twins can be quite a handful and my husband can only do so much by himself. Not to mention that he has his own career as well. And don't worry about how I got into this business. Just know that it pays well." Arielle responded to Abyss. She could sense that he was getting kicks off of how she went from a goody goody to slitting people's throats for cash and she didn't want to give him the satisfaction of telling him about how her parents' murder at the hands of an anti-mutant group changed her prospective on life. She knew he would have loved that.
"Given how twisted your mind must be from working with the Order or whatever the name of the trash you were a part of, I just advise you to be smart about our business, Abyss. It's just a warning to not try anything deceptive with me because I guarantee if you do, you'll be my next target." she glared. It may have not been a smart thing to say, especially since Abyss possessed far more physical power than she did. One smash would probably crush her, while on the contrary because of his size, her superior agility would give her an edge and one quick water jet through the heart would defeat the beast. She smiled thinking of how an actual battle between Abyss and herself would play out. Given his reputation, it would definitely be a fight for survival. Ah well, all the better seeing as she loved a good challenge.
"Red wine it is..." Arielle added, sitting back in her chair.
He hit a button!HIs tail swished about as if annoyed by the acknowledgement, but abyss however let the entire petty name calling and what not roll off, after all she was responding only to the stimulus he was testing her with. It was a fitting and acceptable response. “merow! That is the kind of Spark one likes to see in a business partner, though keep in mind I would pay you double to take out yourself before you got to me.” He stated with a wink. She was feisty feisty, but he had promised that he would behave so he ignored his last observation.
“ well, we obviously are both rather intent on the present so enough of that, I am glad that duties at home have left you some free time.”
Their food arrived quickly, this particular establishment knew not to keep Abyss waiting or those that he dined with, Besides he tipped like a mad man. Their dishes were hot, and the area immediately filled with the delicious savory aroma of lamb. He took a sip of his vintage and appreciated it before eating. “sometimes I wonder, what it would have been like to have a fine woman by my side all these years. But then I would not be where I am now.”
He cut the delicate fillets of beef and savored them as the edible masterpiece that they were he would have to recommend this place to the others…or perhaps he would keep the secret and buy it some safety.
“So, what other than my request brings you to Paris.” He flourished the name of the city with a decent French accent.
"Your business is all that brings me to Paris. I've been here so many times, tis a beautiful place but I've seen pretty much everything." Arielle responded before taking a sip of her wine and then continued. "Otherwise, I'd be at home with my family now." She glanced over, seeing the movement of Abyss' tail and couldn't help but crack a smile.
“sometimes I wonder, what it would have been like to have a fine woman by my side all these years. But then I would not be where I am now.”
"Oh, don't tell me I'm the cause of your speculation? It always seemed that I always tend to have that affect on men. And who's to say that you wouldn't have gotten here if you had a woman on your arm? Every beast needs a beauty to tame him. Ask my husband. He's a happy customer." she winked before taking a bite of her lamb.
“fair enough. Just curious. Oh I wouldn’t quite say that it was all you, the atmosphere had something to do with it as well. Just a passing thought, I apparently am not the tame-able type. With him I imagine that would take some effort and persistence.” He had a few stray encounters with the man though nothing that stuck out in his mind in a bad way. “there is a certain something about sharing a fine meal with a dangerous woman that has its appeal.” He said with a shrug as he minced an ate his meat, with more manners then someone who insulted a mutants mutation would have expected probably. He found it amusing that most that had seen him fight expected him to run off into the forest and devour the first beast that came along.
A growl rumbled in his head. Mercury was certainly more than willing to fulfill the stereotype.
He made his way through the meal he pulled an old trick out of his book and went silent when you are having trouble finding fitting conversation with someone let them take the lead and follow their tangent.
