The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

If there was one place that Ghost could find it was the kitchen. There was a rather direct path from her room: she'd been lucky enough to get a room that faced the backyard and pool AND was relatively close to a small stair that exited to a main thoroughfare for the house. That meant she had easy access to the kitchen and the living area.
Ghost led the way and kept the pace all the way to the kitchen. The sun was setting and since it was summer that meant that their dinner was a little late. There was evidence of a large-scale pasta dish, but most of it was gone by the time they arrived. She let his hand slip from hers as she surveyed the leftover food scene, completely oblivious if anyone else was there or not. She made a bee line for the pantry. Most items seemed low, but she mentally inventoried them and eliminated recipes in her mind as she did so.
She peeked into the fridge and her recipe list was immediately narrowed down to a single item. "Ah! Okonomiyaki! It won't be exactly the same, though... never is, I guess." There was hardly anything left in the fridge. It looked as if it was time for someone to head to the store again, but apparently what she saw was enough for Okonomiyaki. It must be hard to keep that thing stocked with so many hungry kids around.
She started handing items to Garrett: a head of cabbage, eggs, ketchup, a partially used onion, some miracle mayo, a mostly used bottle of steak sauce. She popped back into the pantry: flour, sugar, spaghetti noodles, and assorted cans like mushrooms, pickled veggies, and several cans that had lost their labels.
"What kinds of things do you like to eat?" She seemed to be choosing between a very dusty can of salted, preserved pork and a cobwebbed can of little baby shrimps. Most of that she was digging out seemed to have survived that attack along side the mansion.
She was literally an air current, breezing through the halls and stairs to the kitchen. He saw that the pasta dish was still there as she freed herself of his grip and started to move like a whirlwind through the kitchen. She had apparently figured out a Japanese dish to eat. He was enjoying watching her buzz around with such enthusiasm. The food items started coming and he sat them down one at a time on the counter. As she perused the contents of the fridge, he removed the pasta dish and began cleaning it up, also looking for where the pots/pans/utensils were.
"What kinds of things do you like to eat?"
"Food, really. I know that sounds like an easy answer, but to someone who didn't know where their next meal was coming from a few days ago, this is a true feast." He wished he had one of those silly chef hats. It reminded him of the Swedish chef from the old Muppet Show. Dere-dere-dere-duh duh dere- bork bork bork! The thought made him a bit giddy. He looked through a doorway to the dining room, thinking if it was as good as he thought it would be, the smell would have people coming in no time. Maybe too many for the kitchen.

Sam was walking towards the kitchen; the sent was calling to him. He just got done from working out and the second he jumped out of the shower and headed to his room he smelt it. What ever it was he wasn’t sure but he knew it probably tasted as good as it smelt. So being the type of guys he was he wanted to investigate.
Sam walked into the kitchen with his nose inhale the sent, “what is that delicious smell?” Sam looked around and saw two people standing by whatever the smell was coming from. Sam raised his hand, ”Name’s Sam.”
"My, aren't you easy to please?" She organized the ingredients and started chopping. "I'm told okonomiyaki is a poor person's food - since you can pretty much throw anything together... ah - can you mix these?" She'd combined some flour, water, onions, and part of a crumbled seafood bullion. She fished around for a skillet and some extra mixing bowls for sauce.
Soon the meal was underway. She organized things so that they could individualize each patty to taste. The sauce was simmering on the stove and the smell was making even her tummy gurgle.
"Okay - so okonomiyaki is kind of like a pizza pancake... if you can imagine that." She laughed and started pre-heating the skillet. A brown-haired guy around their age wandered into the kitchen, interrupting her lesson.
"What is that delicious smell?"
"That's probably the sauce... you hungry...?" The batter was easily expandable and they had made more than enough already.
"Name's Sam."
"Ghost." She raised her hand imitating his greeting and she shuffled things around to make certain that nothing flammable was laying too close to the now hot skillet. She shot Garrett a quick grin before waving Sam over.
Pizza pancake. Whatever country it wanted to be from, as long as it entered his tummy soon. He nodded to Ghost and began mixing the items, still staring into the roiling batter as it sizzled. She was lovely and a good cook, what's next? Mutant ability to find cash lying around? He shook his head slightly and snickered to himself.
The first guest arrived, following the scent like Jerry the mouse used to follow cheese, almost floating along nosefirst. The first guy he'd seen around the Mansion. He couldn't count her companion as he only saw a glimpse of a shadow falling from her window. This guy was for real and apparently friendly to boot. Garrett smiled back at Ghost and continued mixing, looking up at the new arrival.
"Garrett. Good to meet you, Sam." he said. He was glad to see some more people. Sure, Ghost was all the company he needed, but it was nice to see some guys to talk to as well. Not the little boys he had seen running around the campus. "You might want to come over, I believe these ..okonomiyaki?" he paused long enough to look at Ghost to see if his pronunciation was correct. Seeing it was, he continued. "Yes, the okonomiyaki here has the stuff you want in it. So what do you want?"

Sam took a look at ghost, she is cute, thought Sam and she can cook, I am in love. He took another long inhale to smell the food again, “never heard of the okeys.” Sam purposely messed up for some reason maybe cause he was tired, or maybe cause he just couldn’t think straight.
Garret seemed cool to Sam, seemed normal enough, “I will have…surprise me.” Sam smiled seeing if he could just be lazy for dinner. Sam let out a yawn “so what can you guys do? Also that’s a pretty interesting name ghost.” Sam smiled while saying all this to ghost seeing if he could get some attention from the two.
Ghos shot a knowing look to Garrett. 'See? this is what I was talking about earlier.' She thought toward him, though unless he magically developed a mind reading power while in the shower, he would have to guess what the look meant. She'd ignore the power question for now and focus on cooking.
She fixed Sam a patty: first she lay the batter onto the skillet much like one would for a pancake, but before it had time to cook she dumped bits of cabbage, leftover spaghetti noodles, some of the salted pork, some potato bits from one of the mystery cans, and finally a touch more of the batter. The pizza pancake had now reached the size of a dinner plate so she used both spatulas, one in each hand, to flip it. "One surprise coming right up."
She grabbed a plate and flopped the perfectly browned patty onto it. It didn't look like much, but it was delicious. She slid the plate to Garrett. "Take some sauce," she instructed, "and put it on like you would pizza sauce. After that," Ghost scooted the miracle mayo squeeze bottle toward Sam, "some people like to draw picture with the mayo. Then normally you'd put dried fish flakes and blue seaweed on top... then it'd kind-of look like a pizza. Hence the nickname... pizza pancake." She obviously thought all of those things sounded rather delicious. Though, truly it was the sauce that made okonomiyaki so good - she hoped her make shift substitute was good enough to represent the dish properly.
Done with her lesson, she immediately started on a second okonomiyaki, this one for Garrett. When the time came she moved aside to allow him to put what he liked into the dish.
Perhaps he had been wrong, this one looked like a guy. But when one of the first things he asked was what could they do, he looked at Ghost. She was looking at him, flashing him a similar look. Synchronicity rocked. Maybe he would talk to the guy and see what he was about later, but for now the mission was clear.
He watched as Ghost threw a variety of items into the batter. She was like a cyclone of cookery, it was amazing to watch. He let out an excited "Whoa!" when she flipped the patty with two spatulas. "You should hit the city as Spatula Girl." He chuckled heartily at the idea. He was then given the plate and poured the sauce liberally on the pancake as directed. He found himself ready to drool on it when it was then pushed to Sam to add a piece of mayo artwork.
"Hmm, what do we have left?" He took some of the pork that remained, some pine nuts and cashews from the high cupboards, and tore pita bread into little bits, throwing each item in like a small basketball toss. He then waited to see Spatula Girl in action as he imagined a nice spandex outfit for her.

Sam realized that they tensed up when he asked what they could do, oh well not everyone is as open with there powers as him. Sam got the food and looked in wonder, it looked amazing. Sam looked to Ghost and Garret, “thank you so much I am starving” he took a bite, then another and another. “This must be what heaven tastes like.” Sam said with a tear in his eye.
Ghost stopped, mid flip at the comment. She watched Sam for a moment before a hearty laugh rolled like thunder around the room. Meanwhile, Garrett's okonomiyaki slid off the spatulas and into a funny shaped pile. She said something under her breath that surely was an expletive, though the word was foreign, the intonation was enough to know. She scraped up the batter that was still uncooked and tried to reshape it. "Aww Garrett, I'm sorry." She couldn't help but laugh the words out as she showed him the deformed mess that she flopped onto his awaiting plate.
She immediately started another, if she had to wait much longer she was gonna pass out. Her hands were a little shaky as she added the cabbage and spaghetti to her own okonomiyaki. It wouldn't be long now.
"Aww Garett, I'm sorry." she said, chuckle and all. He looked down at the pile of batter and food and then up at her. " Well, I guess I am the lucky one twice over. Once because I receive the mutant pancake. Twice because it was obviously made with love." He poked at a bit of it that was still bubbling. " I think that's love. Well, whatever it is, it will be delicious." He rummaged through the cupboards and drawers, getting a third plate out for Ghost and some glasses.
"What would you like to drink, Ghost?" He looked in the refrigerator, up and down, in and out. He then turned and said, "Would you like your water with or without ice?" Groceries were definitely in order at some point. He took a fork and dug into his dish, lifting a bubbly, stringy bite into his mouth. He crunched it over a few times before saying, "Deee-licious. Now what will your special ingredients be?"

Sam felt a little awkward at the dinner, seeing as how they seemed close, Sam just got one of those vibes. Sam not wanting to intrude seemed to distance himself a bit. Using his powers he created two small people and made them dance, the dance was that of ballroom dancing. He focused his attention on the dancers, as they were moving about, he quietly waited as he ate.
Ghost threw most everything that was left into her patty and finally, FINALLY fell into a seat next to Sam. She scarfed her okonomiyaki down whole heartedly for a moment or two before she noticed the dancing figures. She did a double take, that had to use so much control and... they were made of fragile-looking ice yet they moved.
"Uahh! That is so cool! Can I touch one?" She watched the figures closely as she chewed. "So... I guess that mean you're an ice user. C--" She stopped herself from calling it cool again, "Neat," she amended.
"I'm an air elemental - sorry about before. We'd just had a conversation about how all mutants seem to have the same conversation when they first meet."
She imitated a mock conversation with herself to illustrate her point - she even used iddferent voices making the scene rather comedic, "Hi how are you?" "I'm fine what can you do?" "Me? I make you choke on your own tongue. I can kill you in 5 seconds. And you?" "Oh, I make people turn inside out. It takes a little longer to kill you, but it's more painful."
Ghost motioned with her hand at the air as if the words she had just said still hung there. "It seems silly to me... like mutants forget we can be people sometimes - not just killing machines." It was obviously something that mattered to her, since it was probably the most amount of words she'd spoken all in one go.
Garrett watched in amazement as the ice figurines danced on the table. Now that was interesting. Even his greatest achievement with his powers couldn't be that entertaining. Listening to Ghost's comments on abilities, he thought of his own. Other than hurting people and making them seize, what could he do that was positive? He needed to startworking out his body, his mind and his abilities soon. That was the goal of being here, wasn't it?
" That's pretty cool, Sam. My ability is neural manipulation, controlling people's nervous systems. I need to do some work on that though." He smiled as he gathered up the mess from the meal. He put what items were left away, loaded the dishwasher, wiped up any mess and threw trash out. Where there may have been a lack of food, there was no shortage of cleaning products. Probably due to the renovation effort, he thought.
It was good to see Ghost so vibrant and active. He had certainly not seen so much talking and excitement for her. After the things they had shared though, anybody would need a break. He let the two of them enjoy their conversation as he looked out the window at the forest beyond the walls. Dreams of training and achievement filled his mind.

Ghost suddenly seemed like another person once he used his powers, she had good reasons for being so distant, she was right most conversation he had with mutants revolved around his powers and their powers. But some people have such intresting abilities. Sam laughed at Ghost and said, “slow down you can touch it but it is going to be cold.” He then asked her one of the lamest things he cold about he powers, “so can you fly? I always wanted to but mine only lets me make high altitude slides.” Sam controlled the little ice dolls to walk over to her, the man ice doll lifted his hat and bowed and the woman lifted her dress and curtsied.
Sam looked at Garret who became distant and was looking out the window, “hey Garret so can you cut off the pain receptors, or reduce motor function.” Sam was forced to read up of the nervous system when he worked for the organization. So he had a general idea what he could do.
