The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hunter entered the war room and took his usual seat. He used the holographic projector to bring up details of an international sword fighting tournament being held in Japan. A few years back he had fought in the tournament, but had found it dull, with few fighters able to offer him a challenge. He was looking at the entry detail for one of the fighters. Shogun.
A blind Samurai and one of the tournament favourites. No amount of training could overcome blindness to the extent that Shogun had without the help of some other ability. When he had first noticed Shogun it had reminded him of something. Thirty one years ago he had met with an old Samurai who had noted him as “gifted” as the man put it. Hunter had also been in the company of a mutant at the time, as well as several humans. The Samurai noted him and the mutant as “gifted”.
He surmised that the man could sense mutation in others. The man went on to say that he had a grandson who was also “gifted” and he was training him in that art of the Samurai sword. Could this be the grandson? At the time Hunter had paid no heed to the man, he had little use for a mutant child, but now Hunter was very intrigued. If nothing else he would gain a pupil to whom he could impart his sword fighting knowledge, and possibly revive the way of the Samurai.
He had always admired the Samurai, and spent time with them before their fall. For now though he needed to bring this man to America. This would be Tris and Kitra’s first mission. It was one with low levels of risk and they could afford to fail as Shogun would end up in America one way or another. However, it would present challenges and test their ability to thing on their feet. He had contacted both and now awaited their arrival.
Kitra yawned, covering her mouth with her hand. She had just finished doing one of her excercises as her watch had vibrated and Hunter had told her to meet at the war room in the labs. She was following Derrick, since he knew his way around the labs. The corriders seemed like a big maze to her. Kitra seriously hoped she would never get lost and cringed slightly at the thought.
Well, I am now up to fifty weapons without any sign of strain....Kitra's thoughts were stopped short as she ran into Derrick. She hastily backed up, "Sorry Derrick."
Derrick merely shook his head and opened a door for her.
Kitra stepped through the door, seeing her boss sitting near a holographic projector. "Hello Hunter. What is on the agenda for today?" She moved towards the table and sat in a chair and fidgetted slightly trying to get comfortable. She pulled out a sketch pad and tapped her pencil against it, she stopped a few seconds later. Kitra looked at Hunter with a small sigh wanting to escape her lips but didn't let it, "Is someone else coming?"
Trista Evans sat in wrapped fascination, watching that magical rectangular device called a TV screen. She's been holed up in the infirmary- per doc's orders, ever since she'd got back from her not so epic battle with Zephyr......and she was going crazy- I mean, it was only some rather deep gashes that required sticking, alot of bruising and one hell of a concussion, which was the official reason she was still here- she required observation.....but it had been days, she was healed already....well mostly.....Tris had a sneaking suspicion her good will doctor like to torment folk a little to lighten his day.
Her watch vibrated- but she ignored it.....during her period stuck here she had become a strange creature- completely engrossed in the many adventures of Dawson and Joey- would those two crazy kids ever get it together??? and Hunters summones had occurred right before a particularly interesting scene.........the watch shook again- harder and louder than before.......~shhhh, she mentally told it- in a minute~......she watched the scene.....and sighed- they'd managed to crew it up again......what a surprise.
Turning back to the other matter in hand, she quickly found out that she was to summoned to the war room........and so walking slowly- not her fault, she was recovering......she went, lead by a young worker who knew his way round better then her.
She burst into the room: "You summoned me El cap-i-tain." she said with a smile, her tone sardonic......and then realized he wasn't the only person here- there was another girl, one sh'e hadn't met yet. She gave a bright grin to the young women and a small wave. "Hey." she said in way of greeting.
Hunter smiled at Kitra and Tris as they entered. “Before we start introductions are in order. Tris, this is Kitra. She can bring her drawings into reality. Kitra, this is Tris. She can blow things up, freeze them and melt them. Now, as to why you are here.”
Typing in a command a holographic image of Shogun appeared above the projector and slowly rotated. “This man is a competitor in a sword fighting tournament. He is one of the favourites. What interests me is that he is blind. I would like to recruit him to the Kabal, and you two are going to go and recruit him for me.”
He paused to let that sink in. This would be their first mission, as well as the first time they worked together. Not only that, it was their first briefing from him. Normally he would simply say the plan in full and only allow questions at the end, but as the girls were new to this he would pause at let them ask questions as they went along.
Kitra pondered, so this is my teammate. She seems interesting, playful and very self assured. I think she will be fun to work with. I hope. She returned Tris' wave with one of her own, adding a smile to go with it.
Hunter had brought up an image with the holographic projector.
“This man is a competitor in a sword fighting tournament. He is one of the favourites. What interests me is that he is blind. I would like to recruit him to the Kabal, and you two are going to go and recruit him for me.”
Kitra looked at her boss, "You want us to bring a samuri to you?" This will be interesting, especially getting to meet a real samuri. One with honor and the old ways. Although..., "Hmm, are we allowed to enter this compatation?" That would be an added bonus. She smirked slightly as her eyes sparkled with a gleam of challenge within them.
Kitra was interested in the compatation, this would be a chance to test her swordsmanship with someone other than Hunter. If it was allowed she thought bemusedly.
Kitra glanced over at Tris, wondering what she may say, how she may act, just her reaction in general.
Tris slid into a seat and sat still as Hunter started explaining the object, her attention focused.
Hunter had said his thing and the other girl.....Kitra was it, was asking questions about the guy and about entering the contest. Tris looked at her with a grin and an appraising expression, seemed like the girl knew abit about swords- impressive. Tris herself was likely to stay out of any fights involving sharp and pointed pieces of metal.......unless of course she was using them herself to say, impale bad people against walls......but swords- the most she could say about the art form was that the pointy end goes in the other guy.
She drummed her hands on the table a minute; "So........about this samurai guy, apart from the fact he's suspiciously good with the sword for being blind.....anything else you know about him Hunter? Like......have you had people investigating him? doing a psy profile......whats his personality like?.......has he met any other mutants before?.......how receptive is he gonna be to two strange female types coming up to him and asking him to join a secret organization in another country?.........and is there anything we're authorized to do to....shall we say- sweeten the deal?"
Hunter turned to Kitra and said, “Sorry, but all the entrants are now in and the first round has begun.” When Tris asked her questions he gave her a proud smile. She had immediately begun looking at the objective, and if he had any more information that could help them achieve it.
“He’s a recluse, keeping himself to himself. He lives alone in a small house up in the mountains and when not competing he is training. He has not met any mutants that we know of. As for his reaction to the pair of you, he will probably be distant at first, but Kitra, you’re swordsmanship should help gain his respect. As for a deal sweetener, offer him the opportunity to train with the worlds foremost swordsman, me. If he has doubts as to my skill, show him this.”
He pulled up a portable DVD player with a disk already inside. Hitting play an image appeared giving a bird’s eye view of Hunter surrounded by forty armed men. He sat back in the chair to let them watch as he defeated them all in under two minutes. Closing the DVD player he handed it to Tris. “Your flights are booked and you leave tomorrow at noon. Unless you have any further questions I suggest you start packing.”
Kitra mentally smacked herself. Only thinking about entering and not the important questions. She was an idiot, a complete idiot.
Kitra snapped back to reality when Hunter answered Tris' questions. Well, him being a recluse will come in handy. She hadn't thought that her learning swordsmanship from Hunter would come on handy so soon.

Kitra blinked once then again as the video finished. "Once again Hunter, I am glad I am not your enemy. I think Tris has asked all the questions that needed to be asked from my end."
She grinned at Tris, "I look forward to working with you." Kitra's thoughts were running at high pace, She has decent abilities...I hope she never uses them on me though. Kitra rolled her eyes at herself on the inside. This is what I get for not getting enough sleep. She looked at Tris and slightly tilted her head, very interested at what else she could perhaps learn from her.

Tris saw the smile Hunter gave her and grinned back- feeling good inside he was proud of her. She nodded and listened to his extended report, and chuckled silently as Hunter named himself world champion swordsmen.......arrogant much...she thought he was joking.

.......and that little theory was soon put payed too by the dvd Hunter showed them- wow.....just wow.....though he was so good at well, everything else, she guessed she shouldn't be surprised. She accepted the DVD from Hunter and nodded again to show her agreement that they'd better get going, and shook her head at the future questions thing.
She grinned at Tris, "I look forward to working with you." Kitra's thoughts were running at high pace, She has decent abilities...I hope she never uses them on me though. Kitra rolled her eyes at herself on the inside. This is what I get for not getting enough sleep. The other girl spoke to her again, Tris smiled back; "It will be nice working with you too........dont worry, we'll have some fun at least....even if we are over there for dreary old work."
She was still speaking to Kitra, but she was looking at Hunter now, a devious sparkling in her eye; "Plus, ya know, if this Samurai dude's any trouble I can just blow him up." She grinned at Hunter, turning her head and winking at Kitra to show she was joking.
Hunter rose from his seat, an indication that the meeting was over. Reaching into his suit jacket he pulled out several tickets. “Here are your plane tickets,” he said, handing over a return flight to Japan to each, “and here are tickets to the tournament, including all access passes.”
Pulling out a phone he tossed it to Tris, “If you need help with anything phone the number on there and one of my people will endeavour to assist you. You have until two days after the tournament ends to convince him. If after that he still doesn’t want to come you return home.” And I’ll have someone else bring him in rather more forcefully he added mentally.
Kitra smirked slightly at Tris, laughing on the inside. Hunter handed them both several tickets for various places. He says this gets us into Japan and the tournament. Hmm, this will be very interesting indeed.
Kitra grinned slightly at Hunter's last words. Knowing that if they didn't succed, someone else probably would... She looked forward to seeing a tournament of swordsmanship. And she looked forward to working with Tris.
Kitra blinked then frowned, if this guy was blind then how would they show him the DVD? "Hunter, how will he see you defeating those men if he is blind? Or will he use other means to understand your prowess with a sword?" Kitra hoped she wasn't questioning her boss's sanity...
((OOC: as per Kits orders *hugs*, change in format))
Hunter rose from his seat, an indication that the meeting was over. Reaching into his suit jacket he pulled out several tickets. “Here are your plane tickets,” he said, handing over a return flight to Japan to each, “and here are tickets to the tournament, including all access passes.”
Tris nodded, studying her flight and torment tickets before pocketing them, glad for the all access thing, but would rather play it as all access to a rock concert than a sword fighting competition.......maybe she'd do that once she got back.
Pulling out a phone he tossed it to Tris, “If you need help with anything phone the number on there and one of my people will endeavor to assist you. You have until two days after the tournament ends to convince him. If after that he still doesn’t want to come you return home.” And I’ll have someone else bring him in rather more forcefully he added mentally.
Tris caught the phone easily and had to laugh about what she'd heard, physically and mentally. "I seriously believe that Hunter," she said with a deadpan expression before cracking up in smiles.
Kitra blinked then frowned, if this guy was blind then how would they show him the DVD? "Hunter, how will he see you defeating those men if he is blind? Or will he use other means to understand your prowess with a sword?" Kitra hoped she wasn't questioning her boss's sanity...
Tris laughed at Kits question, wondering she hadn't spotted it herself, her mouth quirked up in a grin, she smirked, adding her own mocking query to Kits. "Yes Hunter, that does seem to present a bit of a problem..."
This time Kitra received the proud smile. He liked that both had shown the ability to ask insightful questions, giving him the confidence that they would be able to think on their feet and complete the mission. “Good question. How can a blind man watch a DVD? The answer is he can’t, but he can hear it. More importantly he should be able to sense your reaction with his ability and judge it to be real. While it’s not a great plan there’s not much else I can do short of flying out there and duelling him myself.”
“So you’ll have to use whatever you can come up with to convince him of just how good I am,” he said with a humorous smile, “Now if you’ll excuse me ladies, I have business to attend to. Good luck with the mission, I’ll see you when you get back.” With a final smile to each of them Hunter strode form the room.

'Well, that answers that. That's good and I am really eager to get going....Japan!!' She was bouncing around in her head. Kitra grinned, she hoped that she might be able to learn from this samuri. She also hoped that they would succed in this assignment. Kitra looked at Tris, "Hello teammate. I think we shall work well together." Kitra laughed, "I think I will go back and pack. How about yourself?"
Tris waved goodbye to Hunter- satisfied for now with his answers and watched him walk out the door.

"JAPAN!!wooohoooo! here we come.....this is gonna be such a BLAST.........only, ya know, not literally cause that would be bad." Tris giggled at Kitra antics and her's- truth to tell, she herself was excited, and Kit's excitement only fed her own. "Heeeeelllllo other teammate, I think we shall indeed work well together......and yes, I hear packing is is good too....crazy rumor, but I guess we should try it."
she winked, saluted Kit and away she went to pack for far off adventures.......atleast if she had anything to say about it they would be- adventures that is.
