The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Hunter nodded to both as they entered and took their seats. “I have received recent intelligence that one of my old projects is still about.” Hitting a combination a life size hologram of Iris appeared and rotated slowly. “This is Paragon, a project that I ran over fifteen years ago. She was meant to have her powers nullified, but it seems those orders were never carried out.”
“I have a plan to kidnap her without her realising, as she has only recently escaped from a kidnapper and another similar traumatic experience could irreparable damage her psyche.” He neglected to mention that he would not put his daughter through that. “She resides at the Xavier Institute.” Entering another combination a hologram of the mansion appeared with out damage.
“Her captors seemed to have placed Paragon in an induced state of aggression, causing her to attack those around her and heavily damage the mansion.” Another combination revealed the mansion with damage. “The image you see before you has been replicated in the lab. In the lower levels is a complete replica of the inside of the mansion, with holograms at the windows.”
“Paragon along with all her possessions, including a cat, will be transferred to her replica room. We will go in at midnight. First we will need to ensure that we are not being watch, nor will we run into any unexpected security measures. Jazz, you will drain the electricity from Paragon’s room and the surrounding area, channelling it into a large battery that we will bring along. Once the operation is over you will but the electricity back, so as not to arouse suspicion.”
“Second, we need to ensure that Paragon and her cat remain unconscious for the duration of the transfer. This is what these are for,” he pulled out a set of darts similar to the ones he had given Zephyr but they were slightly bulkier in design, “These darts have inbuilt cameras so that you will be able to direct them into the room and hit both the cat and Paragon, the cat first.”
“I assume you can manipulate air currents without being able to see them. If not you will need to fly up and use night vision googles to locate them. Once Paragon and the cat are dealt with we’ll enter though the window. Zephyr can simply fly up and you two will pack up all her belongings and I’ll carry Iris and the cat down, then come back for the belongings.”
“Finally, to throw of the thought of pursuit I’ll leave behind a note forged in Paragon’s handwriting saying that she could not bare to stay after the damage she caused and felt compelled to leave. Once we have Paragon secure I will call a full meeting of the Kabal and explain what I intend to do now she is here.” He paused to ensure the fully understood before asking, “Any questions?”
As he was waiting for Hunter to begin his lecture Zephyr’s attention was caught by the slight pneumatic hiss that signaled the entrance of another person. Keeping his features indifferent the elemental directed his gaze towards the sliding doors and gaze the newcomer a quick once over; medium height, red hair, brown eyes and an excessive amount of mascara, overall nothing special. The merc paid the woman no further heed and allowed his eyes to close as he waited for Hunter to initiate the briefing. Although he didn’t particularly care about the woman’s presence his mind had already drawn a number of conclusions, firstly the simple fact that she had managed to enter this room unharmed meant that she would be his “teammate” for whatever task their vampiric employer had delegated to them. Secondly, given the immortals current track record she was more than likely a mutant, as for what her abilities were he had no idea and he saw little point in asking, if they were indeed going on a mission then no doubt her unique talents would soon be revealed.
Once Hunter at last began to speak the elemental cracked open a single eye to show that he was paying attention, other than that he made no other response and simply listened to the mans words. After a few moments though the mercs normally blank features adapted a shallow grin, ‘So the blood sucker has a weakness’ he thought with a mental smirk. It seemed as though the vampire had feelings for this outdated project of his, after all why else would he care about making her suffer additional mental trauma? It certainly wasn’t out of fear that paragon would be become unusable. Zephyr knew that mental conditioning could easily eradicate any deficiencies in the girls psyche, he’d seen it done, the process simply wasn’t…pleasant, and if he knew that then he was certain his employer was also well aware of the fact. The only reason he could possibly be hesitating would be if he harboured feelings for his specimen and if cared about something then he could be exploited, not that the merc had plans to do anything of the sort he simply valued the information because it would allow him an edge if he ended working against Hunter.
When Hunter went on to explain what Paragon had caused while under her captors influence the elemental raised a single eyebrow in mild appreciation. The girl certainly had destructive capabilities, if the mansions outward appearance were any indication, yet he still counted Paragons overall power as far below his own, after all he knew full well that he could easily level a city block if he wished.
As Hunter went on to detail their individual assignments for the task at hand the ghost of a grin that had been haunting Zephyrs lips abruptly vanished as the vampire casually rattled off what he knew of the mercs abilities. Narrowing his eyes in annoyance for but a moment the elemental swiftly disguised his irritation behind his usual indifferent expression and waited for his employer to finish to finish his speech, it would take less time in the long run if he reserved his comments for the end of the briefing.
When at last the time for queries presented itself Zephyr found himself with an additional point of an inquiry beyond that of his original problem, namely what were they to do if the encountered someone else inside the mansion? Hunter seemed to believe that that his plan would be run perfectly, Zephyr’s experience, albeit somewhat limited, told him that this was rarely the case. “Firstly Hunter I would appreciate it if you were somewhat more discreet about my talents, secondly in the event that our presence is detected while inside the mansion are we permitted to use lethal force?”
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Hunter smiled, wondering if they would ask about encountering mansion residents. He had that covered. “There will be no need for lethal force, just render them unconscious and I will do the rest. They’ll wake up with no idea that we were even there.”
“As for your abilities, if you wish to keep them secret then I shall be more discrete in the telling of them in future. From now on I will leave it to you to reveal your powers.” He was unconcerned with keeping secrets, after all he hid his and Calley’s powers, hiding Zephyr’s would be no burden.
Jazz lifted an eyebrow as she listened to her new boss. She wasn't typically he nervous type but the fact that she was suddenly dealing with people who did professionally what she did as a joke was kind of intimidating. She didn't know much about what she was going to be doing as well, and that bothered her: Jazz liked being in complete control.
As Hunter continued to explain the situation and the mission at hand, the plan began to unveil itself to Jazz. This Paragon, a mere child, would most likely be easy to obtain and Jazz's personal job was all but child's play for her. Even with the promise of do-gooder types getting in the way, she was suddenly feeling much more confidant about the job. Jazz looked from the man across the way, who apparently had a problem with Jazz knowing his power, to Hunter.
"What do you consider the surrounding areas sir? The entire Mansion? The entire block?" Jazz asked.
“The whole block will need to be drained, can you do it? If not then just drain the mansion. If there are no further questions then please follow me.” Hunter rose and lead them off into the vehicle bat.
Once there he gestured to a table that had two sets of Mondragon lab’s advanced night vision goggles and a belt. “The goggles will allow us to see and the belt is for you Jazz. It has an electric generator built in so you will always have a source of power to draw from.”
Letting them inspect the kit he headed towards the van they would use. The empty battery was already in the back so Jazz could dump all the electricity she would drain. There was also a seat in the back with a harness so Paragon could be secured for the trip. Getting in the driver’s seat he waited for Zephyr and Jazz to get in.
The merc arched an eyebrow in mild curiosity when the vampire delivered his answer but made no comment, it was no business of his how the man was capable of influencing people’s memories, although it was an intriguing piece of information. The elemental knew there were various drugs on the market potent enough to cause a person to forget an entire weeks worth of events, so a few meager hours should not have been an issue. However as he came to this premature conclusion Zephyr couldn’t help feel as though he were over looking something, pausing his thought process momentarily to dig through his various memories the answer came to him in relatively little time. When he had first found out about his employers vampiric status he had waited a week before heading off to the immense granite building that served as the cities library, within the maze of shelves and towering displays the merc had unearthed all the texts he could find that were related to the supposedly “mythical” of vampires. One fact that most of the volumes had noted was the vampire’s ability to mesmerize or hypnotize their victims, normally young women in night gowns, but Zephyr had discounted the idea that the ability functioned only with women on basis that the manuscripts were simply pandering to popular belief.
If Hunter did indeed posses some form of telepathic capacity, then that could greatly complicate matters if the elemental ever decided to double his employer. He’d never been given any sort of training in how to shield his thoughts from telepaths as he had never encountered one before. In light of this recent revelation though he perceived his ignorance as a great failing on his part; Simon had always prided himself on his ability to think ahead and plan for most, if not all, scenarios and now it appeared as though he had overlooked what now seemed to be an obvious method of attack, it was slightly galling to say the least and the merc made a mental note to look into the matter of mental shielding at a later date.
Once Hunter had finished answering queries he led the two kabal members through the crisscrossing network of hallways and corridors that were scattered throughout the labs. As they traveled Zephyr made a point of memorizing the route the vampire was utilizing as they often traveled through many empty rooms which the elemental assumed cut time off their journey and it was always useful to know the less known paths of any structure, especially if they aided you in traveling from point A to B that much faster.
When the trio arrived at their destination Hunter motioned towards a low table which currently supported a pair of state of the art night vision goggles, Zephyr was quite familiar with this little toy having used it on previous assignments when necessary, however the third object was something a mystery for him. It appeared to be a simple belt but the elemental had been with Hunter long enough to learn that were the vampire was concerned very few things were ever what they seemed. As Hunter went on to explain the belts purpose the merc felt a small amount of satisfaction when it turned out that this simple item of clothing was indeed more than it seemed.
Keeping his face in its usual blank mask Zephyr reached out for one of the goggles and after deftly examining the equipment and finding no immediate problems he nodded to Hunter and entered the designated vehicle.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
"Oh no, the whole block won't be a problem at all" Jazz assured her new boss as she stood up and started walking with the gentlemen. She felt as though she didn't have all the information about what they were doing. Whether there was more to this Paragon or there was something about the mission that she was unware of she wasn't sure, but there was definitely something she wasn't aware of...
She disregarded this fact rather easily. She was being paid a considerable amount by this guy and if he didn't want to divulge every little piece of information than that was his right. She shrugged slightly to herself as she joined her comrade in the car.
With both Jazz and Zephyr in Hunter set off for the mansion. Everything was set and he was confidant that everything would run smoothly. He settled into the seat for the ride into New York. It was time to bring his daughter home.
