The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After a couple of days of recovery, Shade was released from infirmary. Now branded with a series of flashy new scars, the mutant had begun to explore the extensive labs. Passing the canteen, the wonderful smell drited to Shade's invisible nose. Pausing, he quickly decided that the hospital food he had been fed for his recovery days could not hold him at this moment in time. Making his way through the line, Shade grabbed several slices of pizza stacking each one on top of the other. Finishing it with a beverage, he grabbed a seat in the middle of a lone table and started on his food.
Vibe stood at the drink coolers. She had a craving for something unhealthy, but didn't feel like chewing. So she was looking over the selection of diet sodas and juices. She didn't usually bother with energy drinks, but she included those too, checking all of the labels carefully. To her surprise, and suspicion, she found one that was rather low in carbs, and made of cherries. She like cherries. Why not?
She popped the lid and took a tentative sip of the fizzy red liquid. A smile crossed her face.
"Yum!" Well now, that was worth splurging on. And it didn't really count as splurging. She pulled out five more cans, then bumped the door closed with her hip. As she walked across the room to the door, she tilted her head back in a large swallow.
And tripped over someone sitting at a table. Vibe sprawled forward, dropping her load. Four of the closed cans rolled away in various directions, while the fifth hit the ground hard enough to burst open. Fortunately the two open cans sprayed their contents away from her and her new clothes. She glared back at the man she'd tripped over.
"Ex-cuse you! Ugh...." She turned to retrieve the four unmarred beverages, ignoring the mess of the other two. Someone else could clean it up.
Shade's final bite of his first slice of pizza was rudely interrupted by a careless red-head tripping over him. He then out a low groan as nearly eaten slice was knocked from his face and then soaked in orange soda. If that wasn't bad enough, the woman certainly was. Instead a proper apology, she seemed to think that to was Shade's fault for her clumsiness.
The hooded mutant's face held a stern gaze as he watched the young lady retrieve her remaining drinks. As she reached for the last can, Shade flicked his wrist sending a razor sharp black dagger at the can. The contains of which were sure to explode after the great commotion of being dropped onto a tile floor. Turning back to his pizza, Shade's face now held a small grin.
"Aiiee!!" Vibe yelped as the last can exploded all over her. That red was going to be impossible to get out! She growled, and glared at the man.
Then a devilish little grin spread over her face. In a quick move, she shook another can and popped the top, aiming it at him. She smirked and stuck her tongue out.
Shade admitted a low growl as he felt the rather cold soda spray across his back. Turning slowly to face the extremely rude red-head, he set his face in a stern frown.
"Do you mind, missy? I was enjoying a nice lunch before you interupted it."

"Do you mind, missy? I was enjoying a nice lunch before you interupted it."
"Then maybe you shouldn't sit where people walk, Shadowman," she snipped back, smirking in reply to his frown. "Maybe you should take that rag off your head. You could see when you're in the way."
Shade was slightly surprised but the fiery tone of the young woman. However, what was he to expect? She was a red head.
Recovering himself, Shade stood up and stepped towards the girl nearly touching her. Although not extremely tall, his six feet easily exceeded the girl's height by several inches.
"Am I in your way now?" He said coldly with a face like stone.

Over the preceding months, Vibe had grown quite a bit in her own confidence, without her sister, out of necessity. Her common sense, however.... was still waiting for a growth spurt.
As the man loomed over her, she crossed her arms and scowled. Her green eyes appeared almost neon.
"Am I in your way now?"
"Pfft! What, you think something's changed in the last ten seconds? I'm rating you right up there with speed bump, Shadowman."
She narrowed her eyes, trying to get a look at his face, and see if he was cute enough to bother with.
If anyone had been able to see Shade's eyes, they would have noticed that he couldn't exactly stare into Vibe's eyes. Something about that color made him continually avert his gaze towards other things, like her hair, or her shirt, or her arm. However, since Shade's eyes were carefully hidden behind the veil of blackness, it appeared the man could really hold his own against the young girl.
"You should watch your tongue little girl. It might get you hurt one day."

"You should watch your tongue little girl. It might get you hurt one day."
Vibe sighed and shifted her weight onto one foot, rolling her eyes. "How original. Don't think I've heard that one since this morning. Look around, Shadowman." She motioned toward the door, indicating the rest of the Labs.
"For two months some of the most dangerous and the most un-dangerous mutants in New York have wandered around these halls. I've seen people who can phase through walls, blind samurais that aren't so blind, pyro-hotheads, split-personality specials, mind-readers, and too many more to list. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a werewolf running around somewhere. Not to mention some of my closest friends are multiplying red hulks, a speed demon who collect swords for hobbies, and a woman who makes Dracula shiver. You want to impress me, ya gotta come up with a better threat than 'You might get hurt.' Pfft!"
Shaking her head she pushed past him, headed back to the drink cooler for more energy drinks.
Shade grinned evilly as the young woman explained about some of the mutants that were jammed packed into this facility. Allowing her to push past him, he still held that stupid grin as he glanced up at the light. They could fix the light afterwards Shade concluded as he tossed a knife into the gas-filled light bulb. A loud pop was heard as the tube shattered. However, not a shred touched the hooded man. An instant later, Shade appeared from behind a closed door near the drink cooler. Leaning up against the door, the man's grin remained as he watched the red-head approached.

Because of the nature of their mutation, loud noises never seemed to bother the Twins. Vibe heard the light shatter, even identifying which light. It hadn't been flickering earlier, which meant it wasn't near going out on its own. The explosion had been caused.
All of that went through her mind, given as much attention as someone city-borne gives a passing car.
What did catch her attention was Shadowman emerging from the shadows near the cooler, when she clearly had left him behind her, and she most definitely did not hear footsteps, wind or anything else indicating movement.
"Impressed now?" He was still grinning. She quirked an eyebrow.
"Possibly," she replied noncommitally. She fiddled with the choker at her throat, where her 'voice' emitted from. "Though so far all I see is a teleporter with a thing for sharp objects and explosions."
She was intrigued, however, mainly because she still couldn't see his eyes.
"Nothing, you can see." Shade replied truthfully as the grin spread a little wider. He doubted the girl would understand the pun so he leaned forward before continuing.
"There is a reason you can't see my eyes." Shade whispered to the teen.

"Nothing, you can see. There is a reason you can't see my eyes."
"Really? Do tell. And please don't say you expect me to guess. 'cause I'm not that interested."
She was still irritated, sticky and thirsty. At the moment those three topped over curious. But her mind could easily be changed, with enough leverage.
