The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Eaen smiled lightly when he actually managed to find his way to the right location without getting lost. Well, completely and utterly lost that is.
<"Eaen, for the bajillionth time... Nobody. Comes. To. The. Library. We're not going to meet anybody in here!">
Eaen ignored Miguel's whining and began inspecting the closest bookshelf, looking for anything that might catch his eye. He strolled down the aisles, looking from book cover to book cover, creating a list in his head of all the books he wanted to read, but he wasn't sure which one he wanted to tackle first. He figured Miguel was right. If he wanted to meet some of the other people living in the mansion, the library probably wasn't the best place to start, but with all of the commotion in his life lately, he wanted to slip into something familiar. Seeing as he had spent a large amount of his free time in the library at home, it kind of brought him back there a little bit.
<"Dude. Today's our first day. How can you be homesick ALREADY?">
Eaen shrugged and grabbed a book before slipping into one of the chairs located around the large room. He flipped through a few of the pages before deciding to finally answer Miguel.
'I'm not homesick. I'd just like to deal with some familiar territory for a little while. Before having to go and introduce myself to more people who will think I'm crazy.'
<"Yeeeeah, but they won't think you're crazy, because you can tell them about us!">
Eaen decided to start ignoring his other half, and start paying attention to the book in his lap,"the American prositution of the Hawaiian culture and it's people". Despite it's rather strong title, it was actually a well thought out piece, from the little Eaen had already read.
Eaen streched back in his chair, having just finished the last eassy in the first part of the book, he was starting to get a little restless, especially due to Miguel's constant complaining.
<"Uuuuuh... I don't care about what the US does to other cultures... I want to meet people...">
Eaen winced at the mentioning of meeting people at the mansion and sighed deeply after thinking for a moment.
'I guess I can't really put it off much longer... unless we just live here for a few months, and then when someone finally bumps into me and ask me if I'm new, then I can just say I've been here for months and then I won't really be new, will I?'
For a few moments, a few RARE moments, there was silence within Eaen's head.
'It was a joke Miguel. A joke.'
<"Oh dude, I was confused... And here I thought you were supposed to be the smart one...">
Eaen shook his head before taking note of where he had left off in the book. He got out of his chair and slowly placed the book back on the shelf where he had found it.
<"If you move any slower, you might start going backwards.">
'Not only is that statement cliche, but your grammar kind of sucks.'
Eaen lingered in the library a little longer, inspecting the bookshelves he hadn't looked at yet, putting off any real social interaction as long as humanly possible.
Fade had been walking around, minding her own business. I guess you could say she was looking for Raph, but she was doing it most certainly aimlessly. Then again, she needed to just walk, to think things through, especially cool off from her last encounter with Deathstar. Her feet took her somewhere she hadn't been earlier...the library. At first, she glanced into the library and then began to walk some more, books didn't fascinate her, especially since she couldn't really read.
However, something, well, I should say someone, caught her currently teal eye and she stopped mid-step as she backed up. He must be someone new... she concluded. Her curiousity sparked and she turned into the library, only to be faced with second thoughts. The last new kid turned out to be annoying and won't leave me alone. Now the question of whether she should introduce herself became present and bugged her. Ah, what the hell, he could be really cool, looks a little low on the social level. A mental shrug resounded through her ever-pondering mind and she finally decided.
"You new here or something?" She asked as she approached, even though she knew the answer. Then again, there were residents that she had not met before, however, she had been living there long enough to recognize a new face when she saw one. However, in order to not jump to conclussions, she did not introduce herself and instead waited until he replied before she would introduce herself.
Eaen jumped a little when Fade spoke to him, and ended up knocking over a small stack of books on a nearby table. Blushing, he picked up the books as Miguel had a field day, to say the least.
<"Woooooowwww... you're going to start impressin' people right off the bat, eh?">
'Shut up'
Eaen's cheeks were a shade deeper by the time he stood back up and faced the red headed girl.
"Um, yeah I'm brand new to the school actually." Eaen smiled lightly motioning to the stack of books that had made their way back onto the table. "Guess I'm a bit of a klutz..."
<"Dude, your name.">
'What about my name?'
<"...Tell her your name.">
'...oh...'
Just when Eaen's face was about to regain its normal hue, Eaen turned red again. "My name's Eaen, by the way." He gave a weak wave, and began to inspect Fade for any signs of mutation. He was ready to move back in case she got too close and started to have a flare up of any mutant abilities.
'Even tho the aura is so weak, it might freak her out to just start... uh, doing whatever it is she may do.'
<"I can think of a few things I wouldn't mind seeing her do.>
'Thank God you don't have a mouth of your own. ... And what does that even mean?'
((Might I just say: Hahaha! The interaction you have between Miguel and Eaen is quite comical *applauds*))
Jenny couldn't help herself, a smile appeared on her smooth lips. Definately new, ready to jump at anything, always afraid of something they might do wrong. He's definately much nicer than that stupid goth girl. A mental sigh of relief sounded through her mind and was slightly visible through her expression. It was good to see a new person that wasn't a jerk.
"Well, welcome to the school. I'm Jenny, but I go by Fade, Jenny's a name of the past." Immediately after she said that, she rethought it, Raph was really the only one that got away with calling her Jenny and she didn't mind it one bit, but the name Jenny when said by someone that she wasn't comfortable around gave her a sense of fear. This was normal because her real name was only called when it was a cop or someone that recognized her from 'missing persons'. Fade was her street name and it was what everyone that wasn't a threat knew her as.
"So what brings ya here?" She asked, attempting to make conversation with him and make him feel alot better instead of so wound up from being at a new school, in a new environment.
Eaen smiled and relaxed a little bit. She seemed like an easy going person, so he shifted his weight over to one leg, and didn't look quite as stiff.
"Thanks for the welcome!" Eaen shifted his weight over to the other leg before continuing, "Um, I guess what brings me here is... trying to gain some sort of control over my mutant...er.. ness."
<"Mutant...ness? You know, I'm having 'nam flashbacks to "Kind of got shot." Good God...">
'Uggghhh, I know I sound like a moron without you pointing it out to me! Be quiet and let me focus!'
Eaen blushed and scratched his head. "Uh, guess I kind of meant my mutant abilities. I haven't really found out too much about how I go about starting that tho... I guess I'll just worry about it when I go see Tricity." Eaen smiled lightly when he realized he was babbling.
"Sorry, I guess I was kind of rambling." Eaen shrugged, before becoming increasingly interested in his shoes before glancing up at Fade. "So... um, Fade, have you been here long?"
((ahh, thanks! =) I think I'm abusing Miguel by making him pure comic relief at this point as opposed to a sadistic jerk living inside Eaen's head, buut, I think it's working for the best so far!))
Yes, no doubt he wasn't much of the 'hi-my-name-is-fill-in-the-blank-and-i-am-so-out-going!' kind, however, it was all well to her. It was nice to talk to someone that was more concerned out how they sounded instead of how wonderful they were. It was a good sign and she welcomed it. "Didn't sound like you were rambling. Don't worry I'm sure you'll get you mutantness under control." Guilt flushed over her as she mimiced his word but she hoped he would take it in the way she meant it, kind.
"I'd have to say I've been here for...erhhh...maybe like eight months? I dunno, stopped counting after the 3rd week. You'll love it, pretty great place." She shrugged before half-sitting/half-leaning on a study desk, placing her hands on the desk to maintain her balance.
Eaen smiled as Fade used the word he had recently created, acknowledging the tone of her voice. He cocked his head to the side and squinted his eyes slightly. If he had met Fade a few years earlier, this would have been the point when he would have focused in on her emotions and would have tried to get a feeling for her, well, feelings. He frown a little before straightening up a bit. He still had a tendency to tilt his head to the side when speaking with people although it really wasn't going to help him do anything anymore.
"Well, I hope you're right." Eaen smiled before brushing some hair out of his eyes. "I mean, I'm sure there are people out there with weirder um... abilities than me. And I'm sure they've had success stories." Being optimistic was something Eaen had trained himself to be when he was young, but he still managed to worry about things none the less. He felt himself becoming less enthusiastic, thinking about Miguel being inside his head for eternity, so he decided to switch the topic.
"So, I haven't really gotten a feel for the student body yet..." Eaen started before Miguel interrupted.
<"No really. You rushed to the library first thing.">
Eaen blushed before continuing. "Are there a lot of people here at the mansion? What's it like living here?" Eaen tried to hide the nervousness in his voice, but he knew he was doing a poor job of disguising it. Although he no longer had any control over his empathetic abilities, Eaen could tell from talking to Fade that she was a real genuine person. He wasn't nervous about her, he was just worrying about anyone and everyone else who he'd now be calling roommates.
Fade responded at first with a shrug before she looked around the library for a moment. It was something different and she had never been in it before, so it was a new place to be chatting with a new person. However, her eyes traveled back to Eaen as it would have been rude to just stare at the unfamiliar surroundings.
"The students here are great. You'll fit in quite quickly, don't worry. Well, there's this new girl that, well, nevermind, it wouldn't be right to talk badly about a girl I don't know, even though I don't want to know her, to a guy that I don't really know, meaning you. And my mind just traveled and I'm back, hi, sorry." She chuckled.
"I mean, you'll always have annoying people, but not too many of them here, most of them are very nice and welcoming. Let's see, I'm sure you've already met Miss Tipper, or you wouldn't be here, right?" She asked, in a way it was a rhetorical question so she had no need to wait for an answer, yet she did, so that he would feel comfortable and talk.
Eaen nodded at the mention of Tricity. "Yeah, I actually kind of ran into her by accident when I wandered onto the grounds. Which was convient, because I was trying to think of a way to find her."
He stood a moment and thought about what Fade had said. "Hm, you'll always have annoying people..." He contemplated that for a moment before cracking a smile. "If only you knew how true that statement really was!"
He laughed to himself, even though Miguel was having a bit of a temper tantrum, and leaned up against the side of a bookshelf. He was quickly becoming more comfortable around the red-head, and he cocked his head to the side again, merely out of habit.
"So what brought you here to the mansion?" Eaen winced a little after he asked, realizing he was being intrusive. "Sorry, you don't have to answer if it's too personal of a question. I didn't mean to pry." Eaen offered an apologetic smile before taking a different route with his question. "So, does anything ever happen around here? I mean, with so many mutants around, something's gotta happen every once in a while."
Eaen smiled again before he continued. "Then again, I guess it's probably just a normal school. I guess the fact that I'm from a small town in the middle of nowhere is showing. I'm expecting something huge out of a school." Eaen chuckled realizing how childlike he must have sounded. He brushed some hair out of his face again, and Miguel made a mental note that it was time for a hair cut.
<"Eaen, I'm making a mental note. It's time for a hair cut.">
"Not intrusive at all. I think that it's best to remember my past because I have been shown a new world and a new way of doing things that I hadn't been introduced to before." However, he changed the subject and she shrugged and moved on. "Yeah, stuff happens. Like the Fusionist stuff, actually, we just got outta that like last night or whatever, I don't remember, I crashed on the lawn." She remembered waking up when rarely anyone was outside and she had grass sticking to her shirt. Missed the whole 'helping thing' because she couldn't keep her eyes open.
"But yeah, stuff happens, everyone has problems or protestors or it wouldn't be America, would it?" Even though Fade was generally an outgoing girl, she felt as though she could be open with this guy, something about him told her that he hadn't lead a great life either. Of course, if she were to speak about her past, she would leave her parents out of it because even though she was taken from them when she was very young, she remembered them and it hurt her to speak about them. However, she could talk about her street life, that wasn't painful, but not the kidnapping.
"Fusionist...?" Eaen stopped for a second before he remembered the condition of the grounds when he had arrived at the mansion. "Are you talking about all the people that were out on the lawn? Or still are, I actually haven't left the mansion since I got here..."
Eaen thought for a moment before deciding they were most likely still out there. There were a lot of people, and if they had moved them all inside, he would have noticed. "Whatever happened it must have been kind of major." Eaen shivvered lightly, although he wasn't cold in the leastest. He was thinking about the wounded people he had noticed out on the grounds, and it reminded him of his father and Miguel's bodies and the last time he saw them.
<"You know, your dad sure bled a lot.">
'Shut up Miguel.'
<"No, I'm serious, that dude just gushed blood... it was everywhere. I bet whoever bought you guys' house had to strip the room of it's carpets... Although it wouldn't help. I bet the wood was stained with the color of his blood.">
'You sound... content.'
<"I am. I mean, I'm stuck in here, but I'm still kind of pumped I made that s.o.b suffer before he died.">
Eaen winced noticably before trying to shake it off. "Sorry," he smiled weakly, "just a side effect of my mutation."
Trying to take his mind off of what Miguel had been gloating about, Eaen switched back to what Fade had mentioned earlier. Although he was distracted, he was intrigued by the piece of information Fade had offered about her past and how she feels she should remember it.
"So what did bring you to the mansion?" Eaen smiled at Fade, content that he had managed to meet someone who seemed genuinely nice at the mansion. Two in a row actually. He figured he'd meet people that he didn't click with anywhere as nicely eventually, but for now he was happy with getting to know one of the nicer ones.
"Um, yeah, Fusionist was when some scientists broke in with some troops and kidnapped a few of the students and then experimented on them. We're still trying to recover." She rubbed her head where the scar of that horrible night was hidden behind her hair. Memories of the pain and of how horrid it felt when the man was beating her beyond what she could take flooded her mind and she had to force herself to think about something else before she stared off again.
"Don't worry, we all side mutant side-effects. Mine are these." She held up her hands and instead of nails there were her raptor-like claws. Then she pointed to her ever-color-changing eyes with a shrug. Before she hated her claws and eyes and tried to hide them, but now she was proud she was a mutant because she had friends and had a normal life, unlike what some wanted her to live.
"My reasons? Well, before I came here, I lived on the streets. Lemme tell you, that's not fun, pickpocketing would get me by but not for long. Hygiene was bad, although at the time, I didn't mind, and life was just bad. I didn't see people as people, I saw them as things that had stuff that I wanted and I regret those feelings. I came to this school to start fresh, to have shelter and food, and I ended up finding a family. I can't leave now." Judging by how she just met this guy, she wasn't going to delve into how she was kidnapped and how her parents died and what her foster parents did to her. It wouldn't be right.
Eaen's eyes widened when she explained what the name Fusionist meant. He rubbed his eyes afterwards, and took a deep breath.
'That sounds really rough...'
<"Hm? Are you talking to me now?">
Although Eaen had every intention of ignoring Miguel, Miguel couldn't help but "over-hear" Eaen's thoughts about how everything he thinks isn't targetted towards his darker half.
<"Well whatever. You can't ignore me forever cuz, I'm in here whether you like it or not.">
Eaen smiled at Fade once she had finished explaining a little bit about her past. "I'm sorry that things were rough for you before you got here... but, um..." Eaen blushed lightly. "You seem like a strong person. I mean, I know we just met, but the way you hold yourself. It shows strength." Eaen laughed lightly. "Sorry, I know how dorky that must have sounded. What I was trying to get to was, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?"
He acknowledged her claws with a bit of a nod, before weighing the options of telling her about his past.
"Well, my side-effects are kind of weird I guess." Eaen shifted his weight slightly before continuing. "I had a... mishap... I guess you could call it, a few years back. Um, I was originally an empath as far as mutant abilities go, and I could like, draw people into my body and out of theirs." Eaen stopped to think for a second.
"Then, I got into a situation with my cousin Miguel... I drew him into my body and while he was out of his, his body died. So... that left us both in here." Eaen pointed to his head. "He tried to gain control, but when he did... I umm, did..." Eaen sighed and then shrugged. "I actually have no idea what I did. But either way, I lost my mutant powers, and I somehow made it so Miguel can't gain control of my body. Unless I'm really freaking out."
Eaen sighed again realizing that this was the point in the conversation where the other person began to think he was just schizo. "The only thing I do now when Miguel's not in control is make other mutants have small flare-ups of their powers."
<"Duuuude, now the hott chick won't ever come near us ever again! Just because you don't like babes doesn't mean I don't want them around!">
Fade half-smiled, kind of one of those understanding, kind smiles as he spoke of how she seemed strong. "Strength...not my field. Hiding is, it's my mutation after all, been hiding all of my life in one way or another, just depends on who or what I'm hiding from." She shrugged again, it was a common motion that she would constantly do. "I mean, yeah, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but would you really want to face anything after that? Wow, that sounded completely cowardly of me. Sure I fight for what I believe in, but in a way, I'm still hiding. Does that make any sense?" After one second, without giving Eaen a chance to reply, she spoke again, "Doesn't to me."
As he spoke of his past, she stayed silent out of respect. It was an interesting concept that he pulled someone into his body and now they are permanently stuck in his body. However, no matter how interesting it was, it was understandable and she did not think as much of it as if she would have had she heard it before she came to the mansion and became part of the team, part of the family.
"So Miguel can like, heard and see everything you do?" She asked out of curiousity. Obviously, Fade didn't have someone's spirit...or whatever it was that Miguel's form was in...in her body so she had no idea how it would feel and actually found it quite interesting and wished to know how they interact, or if the two interacted at all. "And what do you mean by flare up?" Fade got a mental picture of her surrounded by some kind of flare, like flames, but she guessed that wasn't right.
