The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She was not a sidekick! Yeaaah! She was not a hero? Well... I mean she was actively fighting villains. And she'd just said justice.
"Aww, you don't like shadowcat?" He said as he turned to stand before three giant, quickly forming blobs of flesh.
"Juni, you're supposed to sound more heroic! Try something like this!" He sidestepped a golem's attack easily, and then yelled out. "Take this you fiend!" Before punching it across the way. It deflated harmlessly as he jumped toward the next one. "Give it a try! It's really fun!"
Boy was he making quick work of these flesh giants!
The Hero took down another giant by launching it at the crimson fang to try and assist Juni. He dodged it easily, and continued to harass her.
With the final blow he sent him flying into it's maker. Knowing that he could freely pass through his golems, he charged forward and clocked the fleshmancer on the noggin as soon as he tried to explain that very fact as a brag.
"Hah! Two down!" He noted proudly. "Your turn, Shado- Uhm... You!" If he took out two, the other hero had to take out at least one, or they were a sidekick.
She was closing in, little by little, as the geezer took a split second turn and started heading back toward where the book signings had been going on. It was around then she noticed that X had apparently already taken care of both of the villains he had been fighting. This was getting ridiculous! Why was one old dude giving her so much trouble? This must have been what it felt like to be the grim reaper chasing after old celebrities who just refused to keel over.
His about face turn gave her just enough room to reach out and make a grab for one of those straps holding all of his teeth on, though. The moment her fingertips hooked around it she was able to snatch it off of him and throw it behind, continuing the chase without missing a beat.
"Haven't got me yet, Shadowcat!"
An eyebrow twitched and a vein on her forehead bulged a little, and she lunged for him again. "That isnt-" She clawed the other one off of him, leaving him with just a few teeth still attached to his arms and legs. "-MY NAME!"
The next thing she managed to grab was a wrist, and she was able to phase him out of the rest of his teeth.
... and clothes.
Whoops!
Old mister Red Fang or whatever the hell his stupid name was wasn't done yet though, seeing as he reeled a fist back and popped her right in the face with it.
Adrenaline, and shock probably, were the only things keeping her going as his fist actually made contact. Something popped, and she could feel a near instant rush of hot blood as it rushed out her nose.
Working off of past, but mostly forgotten self defense lessons, she spun, hooked his arm over her shoulder and put her weight into throwing him over her and onto the floor. She wasn't sure if that would be enough to keep him down, so she hurried to push his arms into the floor and unphased him, leaving him trapped and without a way to get to his @#$%in teeth anymore.
Only then did she step back to survey the situation, and then remember that he'd gotten her in the nose pretty good. A good sniff told her that something had been damaged enough to break some blood vessels, but it didn't seem broken since she wasn't in blinding pain at the moment. She lifted the sleeve of her sweater and tried to stop the flow, all while staring daggers at the old man on the floor who'd... started laughing.
Xavier tended to his two targets as Shadow- Uhm, Juniper finished her work, tieing up both of the knocked out men, and placing them in a central location, back to back. It was classic criminal decorum that they were caught, now, and there would be no acting out when they woke up.
As he was turning to check on Juniper, he smiled as he realised that most of the Crimson Fang's teeth were gone, removed by Juniper's powers. However, a moment later the old man reeled back and punched her in the face. His teeth clenched, and he started moving forward inspite of himself. She had it handled, though, and by the time he made it to her the man was stuck in the ground.
The X-Men hopeful stepped up to Juni instead, inspecting her to make sure she wasn't hurt too badly. Just a sucker punch to the nose. Gosh, those hurt, though.
"Are you okay? He got you good, huh? No, don't elevate it, just pinch." He looked back to the laughing man, his fist clenched as he remembered where he was and what he was doing.
"What's so funny, Crimson Fang? We have defeated you!"Pose, pose, flex pose. He looked back to the Grey Phantom as if he were a pupil looking for approval, and then sent a nervous glance Juniper's way to make sure she was okay.
The man chuckled a bit more as he gave up the fruitless task of trying to get his arms from the ground. The Grey Phantom shuffled on over to join then, just about the time Xavier appeared at her side and... fretted? No, not quite. Seemed concerned though.
"I'm fine, i'm fine, this isn't the first time I've been punched in the face." She hadn't known about the while pinching thing though... It did beat her continuing to bleed all over her sweatshirt.
She didn't bother dramatically rolling her eyes at her tall friend, before laughing a bit herself. She had to admit, even if it was terribly cliche, it was kinda funny at least. Silly. Lighthearted fun that, other than her nose and some property damage, hadn't really resulted in any serious trouble.
"My dear boy," The old villain started, as the Grey Phantom produced some rope out of nowhere and scratched his head about how he was going to tie the guy up with his arms fused into the ground. "I dare say we, THE TRIO OF EVIL, haven't had this much fun in quite a while.. but, such a surprisingly quick capture has made me realize some things."
Juniper, still pinching her nose, stepped up to help the old hero tie the guy up by getting his arms out of the ground.
"We are... old. Old and forgotten. Most people these days don't have time for such flights of fancy. Why, the last time we tried to pull a stunt a big burly fellow from those X-men showed up and blasted Ole Black Beard right through a wall!"
He reached up and pulled off his mask with one hand, earning a short gasp from his elderly nemesis.
"The world has moved on without us, and.. perhaps that is for the best. I think...it is time to hang up the mask. My good friend, it has been a marvelous adventure with you all of these years."
The two stared a tight handshake. It was all very heartfelt and dramatic.
Juniper was suuuuper uncomfortable.
"I wouldn't say forgotten." She pointed at Xavier with her free hand. "Wonderbread over here probably has like, every battle you've ever fought memorized by heart or something."
Xavier gave a little nod at her statement. "You know, for someone who can't get hit you sure get hit a lot, Juni."
His scene with the villain played out, and his superficial hero pose started to melt when he realized what was going on. It was replaced by a sort of fond sadness as the man started talking about how the times were moving so far past them.
That look soured a bit at the mention of the Masochist throwing Black Beard through a wall. Yeah, that guy wasn't exactly the type to beat around the bush. Kinda a jerk, really. These guys weren't criminals. I mean, sure, they were criminals, but more than that, they werevillains!
The Grey Phantom wasn't the only one who gasped when the mask came off. Xavier's eyes went wide and his jaw dropped as he witnessed history. As the handshake occurred, he was definitely wiping his eyes. He suddenly tried to tand up straight as Juniper suddenly pointed at him, and he sniffled a bit. "I, uh... Yeah, that's true." He nodded, before pausing and fiddling a little bit. "Uhm... Is.. it okay... if I get your autograph?"
You sure get hit a lot for someone who can't get hit.
She stiffened a little, careful not to glare at him like she wanted to.
"Yeah, well I didn't have my power the last time someone punched me."
This whole thing might had been historic and emotional for Xavier, but Juniper was more or less done. She'd bled more in this city than she had in any other state, and it was mostly due to ridiculous schmucks like these guys who thought crime was fun and didn't mind hurting a few people here or there. It didn't matter that they were old, or semi famous considering X's bout of fangirling he was doing.
It... It might have been slightly worth it being able to see the tall teen light up like a christmas bulb, but that was it.
The old, de-masked villain stared up at the boy with a slight hint of wonder on his old wrinkled features, before a wide grin broke out on his face. "It would be my honor to, One In A Million." The Grey Phantom helped the old, naked man to his feet and they hobbled back to the front of the bookstore where the book signing table was still set up. "What would you like me to sign?"
Juniper remained rooted to the spot she had been standing. She watched them walk off, before dropping her gaze back down to the bloody splotches drying on her sleeve.
It hurt. She didn't like pain. Didn't like being punched, or being put in positions where people could punch her. It had been... 4 years? 4 years since someone had last hurt her this badly. She'd have to be careful in the future who she decided to phase with her, if she wasn't as invulnerable as she thought she had been.
Slipping the sweatshirt off over her head, she tied it firmly around her waist and headed over to join the little squad of nerds. She felt naked in just a tank top, but at least the blood wasn't as obvious if it was around her waist. It also helped that she couldn't see it. Out of sight, out of mind.
The Crimson Fang finished an elegant scrawl of a signature just below where the Grey Phantom had signed, and dutifully set the pen down to allow himself to be tied back up. Someone had procured something to hide his wrinkly old man junk.
She pointedly ignored the mirthful smile aimed her way with a bland scowl of her own. "You really should consider taking up a villain mantle, my dear." He chuckled, "Especially now since there is a fresh opening for a new foe."
"Nah." She shoved her hands into the pockets of her jeans. "I don't like hurting people unless they deserve to be hurt." She mimicked his grin in a sarcastic manner, "If Adonis hadn't been here i'd have kicked your ass sideways and you'd be a permanent wall fixture right now."[/i]
The Tall young hero looked back to Juni, fretting a bit again about her poor little nose. It looked fine, if a bit puffy, but he didn't like people hurting anyone around him, much less his friends. "I know... I was just teasing. Sorry. I'd say be more careful but at this point you've probably done more dangerous stuff than I have."
That might not be 100% true, but it was likely close.
The Crimson fang used his hero name. His eyes turned into stars again as they returned to the table, and he presented his cape to sign. This was one of the best moments of his life, just short of fighting crime with Shard.
After the signing was compelete, Xavier ran off to go get some ice for Juni's nose, totally missing the villain exchange. By the time he'd returned the police had all started to filter in, and he presented his BFF with a bag of ice with a papertowel around it, smiling a bit. "Alright, not Shadow Cat, let's go take a closer look at your nose, okay?" As they started to head toward the exit, X looked back to the much shorter woman, grinning. "Hey, Juni? Thank you for coming with me today. Life's a lot more fun with you around."
"Ah, I see... So the young hero has already won you over then?"
Her face turned a little red and he chuckled at her. If she answered, would that be justifying his statement in any way? She chose to ignore him and turned to walk a bit away and wait for Xavier to return. He'd hustled off with an explanation she hadn't really been paying attention too.
The big lug returned with an ice pack and she was honestly touched by the gesture. She was just going to wait until she got home to take care of it. "Oh, thanks!"
They shuffled off, leaving the chaos of the afternoon behind, and she got distracted with icing her nose enough that his honesty in enjoying having her come with him struck her out of left field. She blinked stupidly at him from around the bag of ice on her nose.
Oh, she was totally going to blame the slight heat in her cheeks on the ice. Totally all the ice's fault.
Life's more fun with you around
"Thanks! I think so too!"
She grinned back, not explaining what she meant if it came across funny.
Yeah. Life was certainly more fun with him around, too.
