The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Just Me, My Sweetheart, and a Pair of Gloves (Blaine)
As Lee made her way over to Blaine, slower than usual, though faster than she had gone to start with, she saw his face drop slightly. ”I’m sure I’ll be fine soon, like you said,” Lee told him as she came to a stop in front of him. ”And it’s cold outside, so isn’t that basically the same thing?”
But Blaine’s face didn’t look any happier. So she raised her arm to place her hand on the back of Blaine’s neck to pull his head down closer to hers for a quick kiss. ”I’ll be fine, Blaine,” she told him when she pulled back. ”But, I may need to lean on you a bit while we walk.”
"It's not quite the same," he said as he looked at her. "Not that I'm an expert." Then, she pulled him down and kissed him, and for some reason that made him feel better. Maybe by now it was just the concept of kissing; it wasn't like he could feel. And yet...it still did something to him. He couldn't explain it, but it did.
Nodding, he put his arm around her waist as he led her outside. His jacket was unzipped, but it wasn't that long a walk. Besides, he was more worried about Lee than about a sensation he couldn't even feel.
Lee shrugged when Blaine said that the cold outside and icing her ankle weren’t exactly the same thing. ”Then I’ll ice it when we get back to your place, does that work?” Lee asked. She hoped that it would, she didn’t exactly want to stick around the gym just to ice her ankle which she was going to have to walk on to leave anyway.
But at least Blaine looked happier after the kiss she gave him, and he wrapped his arm around her waist. So she did the same, wrapping her arm around Blaine’s waist to make it easier for her to lean on him. ”I’m ready to go if you are,” Lee said, looking up at him with a small smile. ”And thank you.”
"Yeah, that works. I mean, we're not gonna do it here," he replied. "Though, I will carry you if you ask," he teased lightly; he knew she wasn't going to do that. She was much too independent. Besides, that would cause more of a spectacle.
Then, she was leaning on him, arm around each other's waists, and they were walking out of the gym together. The walk home was going to take a little longer than usual, seeing as how they were going to have to take it slower, but it would give them time to talk. Blaine was just fine with that.
"You know, that was fun," he murmured. "I know I had my doubts, but...I enjoyed it."
At least Blaine was good with her waiting until they got to his place before she iced her ankle. And then he was teasing about carrying her back to his place, and she shot him a look. ”Yeah, that’s not going to happen,” she said. And it was true, if she was able to agree or disagree to being carried, she almost certainly would say no. There had only been a single time that she’d been alright with being carried, and you didn’t exactly talk to your boyfriend about your wedding night, afterall.
Then they were walking, and thankfully Blaine was taking a slower than normal pace. Normally, Lee had no trouble keeping up with him, but with her ankle at the moment...Well, she probably could walk faster, she had pushed through a number of injuries before, but there was really no need to, so why make things worse.
”It was fun,” Lee agreed, smiling up at Blaine. ”But I told you I could handle it, didn’t I? And I didn’t purposely use my powers, but it felt good to see what I could do without having to hold back the whole time.”
"I didn't think so. But if push ever came to shove, I would. Though you'd probably be unable to protest and I'd be worried out of my mind," he said with a sincere smile. "As long as you're able to walk, you're walking," Blaine reassured.
"You did tell me that, but I've always been worried about hurting someone," he explained. "It felt good for me to let loose too," he said with a soft chuckle as they walked. "Though honestly....I'm glad you can keep up with me. It's just one more thing I l--like about you," he murmured softly, taking a contented sigh. Yeah, he may have dodged a bullet there, but he didn't really notice.
Though the idea of her in the ring tangling with him....it was really something.
Despite what they were talking about, Lee couldn’t help but smile. Somehow Blaine really did understand her, knew even after such a short time with her, that she would have to be incapable of walking, likely incapable of protesting it, for him to be able to carry her like he’d suggested.
”Well, hopefully it never comes to that,” Lee said, smiling back at Blaine as she spoke. But at the same time she really did hope it never did. Because in addition to the obvious reasons, life felt incredibly normal despite the unusual elements in their relationship.
”I understand,” Lee told Blaine. Because she, too, had worried about her powers hurting someone, about taking too much energy, for so much of her life. ”I’m just happy you listened. Most people don’t believe me. They think because I’m so small, I’m fragile, or that I’m exaggerating.”
But then she laughed slightly as well, and shook her head. ”You still don’t even really know. You still have never seen any of my speed when I’ve got energy like this.”
Blaine nodded sincerely, somberly even; he didn't want to think about a circumstance where he'd have to carry her. "Me too," he said as his smile came back.
"Well, I do know you. You're not like other women. Hell, you'd probably beat the **** out of some of the guys I've fought, if we're being honest," he said with a slight chuckle.
He nodded when she said he hadn't seen her speed at full energy. God, she was impressive...and somehow, his were the arms she wound up in. He had to smile at this, even though he couldn't feel her there...it was nice knowing she was there. Finally, they made it to his apartment building, and he led her inside, to the couch. Then, he grabbed an ice pack from the fridge and a hand towel to wrap it in, and brought it back to her before sitting down beside her.
"Here," he said gently, obviously knowing what to do with an ice pack.
Lee couldn’t stop the smile, or the slight blush, that came to her face when Blaine said he knew her. He sure did, it seemed, after such a very short time that they’d been together. At least because they were out in the cold, Lee hoped that neither Blaine, nor anyone passing them, would realize it was a blush on her cheeks.
It really was amazing, Lee thought as she limped along slightly with Blaine’s help. How well they did know each other already, how well they seemed to click and work together.
It didn’t take too long, though definitely a lot longer than it normally would have taken, before they were back at Blaine’s apartment. And he got her sitting on the couch before he went to grab her an ice pack.
Propping her foot up on the coffee table, Lee placed the ice pack on her ankle before leaning back with a sigh. Then she leaned over slightly to lay her head on Blaine’s shoulder. ”Thanks, hon,” she murmured.
Blaine kind of enjoyed the slower walk, even though he was intent on getting her off of that ankle. Besides, like she said, it'd be a bad day when he'd be allowed to carry her. Once he had her situated with her ice pack, he sat next to her, wrapping his arm around her back to rest on her side, instead of just the shoulder like usual.
He leaned his head against hers, closing his eyes for a minute, taking in the smell of her hair; his way of enjoying the closeness.
Once she had the ice pack on her ankle, Lee felt Blaine sit down beside her, wrapping his arm around her. Smiling slightly, Lee leaned against him, closing her eyes. She had lots of energy, but she was also sore so was going to enjoy this relaxation while she could. And then Blaine answered, and a smile sprung to her face. It was a simple sentence, the words themselves not saying much, but the emotion and feelings she heard behind them… ”You know, as much as I enjoyed this afternoon,” Lee said after sitting for a few minutes in silence. ”I think this is going to have to be an infrequent thing.”
He smiled, opening his eyes to turn and kiss the top of her head. "Yeah...it was fun, but I think it'd be better if we stick to the usual training methods. But we can spar every once and awhile." He chuckled lightly, she really did know her stuff, and she made him think, digging deeper into his repertoire than he usually had to.
"As much as I enjoyed that, I'm glad to be home. I'm learning to appreciate the moments like this, too. As much as I enjoyed the sparring; I hadn't had that much fun in awhile. In public, anyway." He turned to wink at her slightly. Since they were home, he was more comfortable with comments like that now.
At least Blaine was in agreement that they shouldn't spar like they just did very often. It was fun, it was a good workout, but it was a little intense and painful to do regularly.
Lee was just as glad to be back as Blaine was. Though it wasn't her home, she was just as comfortable here as she was in her own apartment at this point.
And she smiled when she heard what Blaine said. Though the last few words caused a blush to appear on Lee's face. That was… Lee's stomach did a little flip and her heart started beating faster. ”I haven't had that much fun in quite a while, either,” Lee said, looking up at Blaine with a smile, though some of the blush was still in her face.
”Though,” Lee's voice was softer, more suggestive as she continued. ”Don't you still need to be checked over, make sure you didn't get hurt?”
He smiled as she blushed; making her blush showed him that he was getting a lot better at this...'flirting' thing. Or maybe he was just getting better at suggestive comments. He didn't know, but he had to admit, it was rather amusing.
And then a blush of his own at her next words--well, at the tone with which she used them, anyway. "You know what...you're right," he murmured, his own voice equally as suggestive. Then, he stood to his feet, removing his shirt and tossing it to the side. "See anything so far?" His voice was slightly more serious.
Lee’s smile widened as she saw Blaine blush at her comment about checking him for injuries. But despite the blush, Blaine stood up and immediately took his shirt off. Biting her bottom lip, Lee gave him a quick look up and down. ”Nothing obvious,” Lee said with a smile up at Blaine. ”I should probably take a closer look, though.”
That said, Lee moved the ice pack and stood up carefully, taking a step closer to Blaine. Lifting her hands, Lee carefully trailed her fingers across Blaine’s shoulders, then slowly down his chest as her heart started to race. pulling her lip in between her teeth, Lee let her fingers continue moving, slowly down, making their way over Blaine’s abs.
