The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Several minutes ago, all Andy wanted to do was see a frozen lake for the first time. Now, all he wanted to do was go back to the mansion and up to his room where he could crawl into his nice, warm bed and curl up under his nice, warm covers. There was no place he’d rather be, but he couldn’t get there soon enough. The worst part of it was that he lacked snow boots, forced to walk through the deep snow in his sneakers, which were now soaked.
Why can't I fly like Ghost? Or teleport like Mirror? Or have some other mutant power that would help me get to get inside faster? whined Andy mentally as he tried to brave the cold and ignore the stiff pain in his face as best as he could. “Hate the cold, hate the cold, hate the cold,” he muttered under his breath, which he could see quite perfectly, over and over again, his lips trembling.
Wearing only a jean jacket, a school sweatshirt, a t-shirt and athletic sweatpants, maybe if he had a snow coat he would've made it all the way to the lake without bailing. But he didn't own such a thing, born and raised in Florida where it was rarely cold and literally never snowed.
Oh, how he missed Florida right now. Not necessarily the people, but the place. It was beautiful in comparison. The warm climate. The palm trees. The beach... Oh, how he missed the beach.
Imagining himself back home only helped for so long before he felt the frigid wind and rush of snowflakes whip at his face again, bringing him back to reality.
“Why is it so freakin' cold!?” Andy bellowed, shivering wildly in a desperate attempt to warm himself up. Oddly enough, it worked, almost immediately feeling the heat rise to his cheeks and return to his toes.
Andy quirked a brow and looked up, confused. Snow continued to fall from the sky, but no longer could it reach him as though an invisible force-field surrounded his entire body, even his feet. Andy looked down and widened his eyes in amazement at how the snow pushed itself away from him with every step he took. "Whoa."
(OOC: Saw your idea post. Sounds fun, so I thought I'd jump in)
For Glitch, the weather was less than ideal. The cold itself was no issue. Her robot self couldn't tell the temperature of Antarctica from that of the Sahara. But, there was snow. Also known as frozen water. And water and electronics did not play nice. Fortunately, she'd had the foresight to take her raincoat with her when she went out. Even if wearing it, given it's long length and ill-fitted hood, made her look and feel silly.
As she was returning to the Mansion, one of the other students caught her attention. Mutations could be strange and scary, but many were also fun to see in action. With whatever mutation this guy had, he was somehow pushing the snow away from him.
“Dang. I wish I could do that,” she remarked, trudging up to him. “It's, like, the ultimate umbrella.”
So maybe my powers aren't so useless, after all, Andy thought, a small smile forming on his dry lips as he stared down at his now-dry sneakers. Seconds later, the space between him and the snow started to shrink, allowing the snow to inch its way toward him. No! Quickly, Andy balled his hands into fists within the uni-pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and wrinkled his brow. It was working up until the moment someone -- or something -- appeared out of nowhere, breaking his concentration.
Andy inhaled a sharp breath to squelch his frustration, trying not to look bothered by the fact the snow was touching him again. "Oh, hey..." he greeted the mutant girl. Was she a girl? Or even a mutant? She looked more like a robot… She didn't even have a nose or a mouth, her face covered in metal plates, and her eyes were bright red. Creepy...
Realizing he was staring, Andy let out a few nervous chuckles and said the first thing that came to mind, “Thanks. I didn't know I could do it until like… a few seconds ago. I knew I could repel water, but not snow, which I guess is water…” Suddenly, Andy felt incredibly stupid. “In my defense, I'm from Florida…”
Sometimes, Glitch forgot that the robots people were used to were the police's armed and dangerous META units. Worried she may have startled the guy, she took a step back and relaxed her posture. No threat there. Just Glitch.
“That's your first time using it on snow?” She tilted her head. “Well, I was a Californian. Guess I wouldn't have known for a while, too,” she said, shrugging. She eyed the patch of ground around him that had been cleared. Not just umbrella, but snow plow, too.
“Anyways,” she added with a playful tone, “you just found out a new way to use your power. You're going to have fun experimenting with it.”
