The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been a very long day. The last 4 hours Jayden had spent working with some of the younger at Sanctuary, trying to teach them some basic self defense. A mix of humans and mutants, almost all of them living in hard times and in hard places, some were definitely taking her lessons better than others. Between struggling with animosities between mutant and human children, sometimes only barely controlled mutant powers and the general chaos that came with pre-teens and teens, suffice to say it was not the easiest job she'd ever taken on. Days like today she wondered why on earth she had volunteered with Tempest to take on this responsibility.
Finally, however, the end of the lesson had come and the thing she wanted most at the end of a hard day was a good, stiff drink. Maybe she had started making something of her life and maybe some days she did seem to be almost respectable (well, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration given her primary source of income was theft), but the punk in her would never disappear and the punk in her wanted alcohol. She'd earned it.
She'd heard a bit about Haven's club, Inferno, and tonight seemed like the right night to go and check it out. First, a bit to eat followed by a ride up to Inferno on her bike. Some part of her would have liked to have chosen a dive bar close by, but she really should find out more about the club the organization she was a part of actually ran. So, off she went.
First impression of Inferno made it clear it was not the sort of dive bar she was used to and she was definitely a bit out of place with her black mohawk, patched denim and leather trench-coat. The one thing that was not necessarily out of place were the black cat claws she almost always wore as a badge of mutant pride. Never one to let those sorts of trivialities deter her, she ordered herself a shot of rum and sat herself down at the bar.

It had been less than a week since Derek Menes was officially inducted into the Haven. It was an experience that he would never forget and always cherished. If you would've told him two months ago that he would be apart of an organization that was so focused on the wellbeing of mutants. It made Derek feel good that he was going to be apart --officially-- of something greater than himself.
Derek with his new found status decided go and hang out at the Haven's club. He didn't want to go in there without looking nice so after he spent time at the Mansion, he headed over to Honeycomb Cooperative and got ready.
After about an hour, he was ready and dressed to go. Derek would've invited Artair out, but assumed that he was busy so he decided to go on his own. Plus, this was his chance to network with others in the Haven and maybe make some friends.
Wearing a pair of blue jeans, a button down green shirt, and his leather jacket, Derek hopped into a cab and was taken to the Haven HQ. After about ten minutes, his cab pulled up to the building. Derek got out and headed inside. With a anxious smile on his face, Derek walked into the first floor of the Haven HQ. It wasn't hard to find the Inferno Club seeing as it had directions plated on the walls.
Derek straightened his leather jacket and took his first steps into the club. It was beautiful with elegant scenery and a good number of sitting areas. Craving a strawberry daiquiri, he headed toward the bar, taking a seat next to a woman with a mohawk and green eyes.

Finishing her shot, she ordered one more for herself as well as a beer. There was a time when getting smashed had just been a part of your average Friday night, but that time had passed. Now she had a direction in life, actual goals and actual reasons to keep her head on straight. She was a representative of Haven and, especially given where she'd chosen to drink, it was important she be a good representative. No, that didn't mean she had to live by the letter of the law, but it did mean there was a certain public image to be maintained. Life was damn strange!
She downed her second shot just as a young man sat down at the bar beside her. "Good evening to you," she nodded in his direction. The alcohol burned pleasantly. It was obvious the stranger had taken the time to make himself up for a night on the town to good effect and he actually looked like he belonged at a place like Inferno unlike herself. Well, her own goal be appear respectable only went so far and if being respectable meant shaving her mowawk or doing away with her leather then she didn't want to have anything to do with it! One had to set personal boundaries somewhere, right?
"Come here often?" she asked, taking a sip of her beer.

"And to you," Derek sipped on his fruity drink and sighed contently. Being here, Derek felt super important as if he was apart of something bigger than himself. Something that could and was doing things for the betterment of mutant kind.
When asked if he came here often, Derek shook his head. "My first time," he answered, "It's my first time actually bein' here. Inside of the Inferno club," Derek was happy that there wasn't too many hot guys around. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to focus.
"What about you? I like your hair by the way." He complimented with a smile on his face.

This was a very nice place with some very attractive people. For all her brash confident and devil may care attitude, dating was the one area she really hadn't had much luck in. She just didn't know how to approach the girls she liked, how to flirt or, really, even how to recognize flirting directed at her half the time. Mostly, she'd given up on that aspect of her life, but a girl could still admire and dream, right?
"My first time here, too. I've got to say, I'm impressed." She took another sip of her beer.
"Hey, thanks. You're looking pretty damn dapper yourself. I'm Darkshift, by the way." She extended a hand to be shook. So far, coming here had been a good call.

"Same here," Derek took another sip of his drink. He let the cool liquid slide down his throat and into his stomach. It was refreshing especially with how hot it's been lately. Staring down into his drink made him think about Aleksandr. God, even thinking about him made Derek smile. Clearing his throat, he turned his attention back to the woman.
"Thank you," Derek chuckled a bit, "I'm...Disney Prince. Or...Faunus. I'm still tryin' to think about a codename that would fit for me." Disney Prince was more accurate, though it wasn't a name that made villains tremble in their evil-doing boots.

"I have to confess, I feel a little out of place here. I'm more a dive bars and rowdy patrons kind of girl," she laughed and took another drink of her beer. "I'm not sure I'm capable of doing the whole trendy club goer thing. You, however, seem to fit perfectly in a place like this." It was meant as a compliment. Just because she'd always be a dirty punk didn't mean she couldn't appreciate things a little outside her comfort zone.
"Disney Prince?" She raised an eyebrow at him. It wasn't exactly the most intimidating of code names, nor the most descriptive. "What exactly do you do, then?" The power of emotive musical dance numbers, maybe?

Derek chuckled a bit, "well, that must be that I'm good at pretendin'. I never been to a place like this before. It's so...high class." Derek gave a look around the room before turning his attention back on Darkshift. ]"Thank you for the compliment, though. It really means a lot." Derek took another gulp of his strawberry daiquiri. Unfortunately he wasn't able to drink alcohol yet so he had to settle for virgin...everything.
"I can communicate and influence the behavior of animals. I know Disney Prince sounds lame," he chuckled again, "what about you? What can you do?"
Well, that would sure show her for judging a book by its cover, now wouldn't it? She really should have known better. "I guess I don't need to feel quite so awkward and out of place then," she said, feeling a little bit of relief. "I'm not really the sort to care very much, but this is a little out of my comfort zone." Interesting, but still slightly uncomfortable. Maybe in time that would change. Maybe her association with Haven would necessitate its change.
"Animals. Cool. Way cooler than the moniker Disney Prince. What I do is kind of related to animals too, in a way. Want to see?" Fortunately her own association with animals was of the 'safe for public viewing' sort otherwise she never would have suggested a display. Chaotic and occasionally violent she may be, but she wasn't stupid.

Derek smirked, "I can drink to that. I feel like someone's about to make an announcement or somethin'." Derek shrugged his shoulders and finished off his fruit drink before ordering another. He made had an addiction, but it's totally worth it. After a bit of tome here, he was sure that he would feel more relaxed.
Darkshift also dealt with animals? Cool! Derek was defiantly interested to see what she was capable of. "Sure! I'm excited to see what you can do." And he meant that. Derek turned his body toward Darkshift to get a better view.

Jayden laughed and took a drink of her own. "Well, so far we seem to be doing a pretty good job of being incognito. No conformity police that I can see." She made and exaggerated look around the room and smirked. "So far, anyway."
It was enjoyable to be in a place where she could show off her powers without fear of reprisal or mob justice deciding that she was a dirty mutant and thus had to be made to suffer. If only there were more places like that in the world. With a thought, her aura appeared and took on the appearance of a head to tow black leopard. She held it for a moment before shifting it to that of a komodo dragon. One final shift into a black wolf before she let it fade away, leaving her human aside from her claws.
"I'm a humanoid animal shifter. Often, I go by the name Darkshift."

Derek laughed along with her, looking around the way she did just seconds before, "they could be undercover so we have to make sure we don't cause any suspicions to arise."
The other mutant watched her aura shift and change into three different animals. A wide smile came across his face and Derek immediately wanted to jump up and down in his seat. However, he didn't and instead, clapped.
"That's so cool, Darkshift!" He exclaimed, "...I might start going by Zoopath. Who knows?" There weren't a lot of code names for Derek that didn't sound lame, but he was sure to find one that didn't.
