The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He tossed her a beer. Maya blinked at Sam, at the beer, Bruno, and at the room.
With a shaky breath, Maya sat down the beverage. "Wait right here." Because she couldn't stand it one moment longer. Maya disappeared downstairs to the kitchen and returned with at least 4 different trash bags and one empty trash bin. She tossed one empty bag at Sam and started plucking trash from the floor without comment.
"How has the X-side of things been?" She asked mostly to soften any offense he may take at her tidying his things. Clearly his personal life was... neglected.
It was just... not even the animals should live like this. Maya did, finally, pat Bruno as she nudged him out of the way to get at a Big Mac wrapper under his foot.

Just like that Maya was back to mothering. Sam smirked as he reluctantly caught the garbage bag and set his beer down as well starting to pick up one piece of garbage after another. ”Well… they are going.” Sam said with a shrug, ”Been doing more police work than anything, a few investigations with some homicide cases all mutant related and me being a ‘specialist’ and all.” Sam rolled his eye ”They want someone they know as a mutant handle mutant related things. More than usual thanks to a few incidents and the rioting.” Sam shook his head again.
”Been little slow though out of the city.” Sam found something covered in cat and dog hair. He didn’t know what it was but it looked like a caterpillar a big fuzzy one. Icing over his hand and picking it up he threw it into a bag and then continued. ”You asking because your curious or you asking because you are worried?”
Bruno was sniffing everything the two were picking up just incase there was anything edible left even though Bruno was a pro at cleaning up anything edible that was left on the floor. Sam looked stopped and reached for his beer cracked it open and then took a long sip. ”You think you can still fit into your old uniform? You did have a kid after all.” Sam gave her a large smirk and was ready to dodge whatever was about to be thrown in his direction.
"Cans here for recycling." Maya dug around in Sam's trash bag without remorse, plucking cans out and doing her best to crush them before tossing them into what she had deemed the can bag. There was also a PET plastics bag. The rest of the detritus could just go together like the rubbish it was. Really. How did it get this bad?
"Yeah. I can see the humans wanting a mutant shield. I stashed a bunch of humans in the Full Circle during the riots." And she'd chased off any would-be looters with nothing more than her power and a broom. She'd been scared to death that they'd just burn the whole place down, but no one seemed to care that much. There was too much else to loot and easier targets to torment.
Maya paused to switch bags now that she and Sam had cleared most of the aluminum she could see. "A little slow is exactly what we needed after the riots. Gave the city a chance to breathe and recover. I heard the woman that started it all is here somewhere. Uh- Don't tell me which one. I don't want to think of anyone differently." She really didn't, even if she was curious.
> ”You think you can still fit into your old uniform? You did have a kid after all.”
Maya rolled her eyes and flicked her wrist at Sam sending a blast of air that tipped the bottom of his beer up the next time he put the can to his lips. She expected satisfaction by making him dump his beer down the front of his own shirt.
"Doesn't matter if I fit or not. I wasn't expecting to return to the team unless you guys really needed the help." There was something... growing...on a... Was that a sock? Bruno came over to investigate and ended up wolfing the thing down before Maya even thought to stop him.

Even if she wasn’t wearing the uniform it seemed it was hard to take the X out of someone who wore it once. Then again he was pretty sure even if Ghost was never and X-Woman, she still would have done all she could to help out a stranger. That was why Sam enjoyed being around her so much. Even if she was a little too motherly sometimes she knowingly or unknowingly made Sam try to be better. Something he could have used over the past year but it wasn’t her fault it was his.
”I was always good at taking a hit.” Sam said as he let out a slight sigh when he realized he put a can in the wrong bag. Taking it out and placing it where it belonged Sam nodded his head. ”Yeah, she is.” Sam said with a shrug, ”Sweet girl too, really messed up.” Sam felt a spike of rage as he thought about how the riots started. The videotapes. Sam wished he could have done something to the men responsible. He probably still could but prison wouldn’t treat them well. Police often didn’t last long behind bars. The room grew a bit colder as he forced his rage to subside.
Reaching for his beer to help distract him he felt the can move with a small gust knock his tooth with a loud ‘thunk’ causing him to spill beer all over his shirt. Sam looked down not worried about his tooth but the beer on his shirt. He looked back to Ghost and started to laugh. ”Ha ha.” he grumbled as he another beer in the fridge started to call out to him.
”Eat what?” Sam asked when his hand was in the fridge. ”He has a gut made out of metal. When I first got him if he could fit it in his mouth it was gone. Socks, change garbage. He seems to do it from time to time now but he normally just sticks to food now.” Sam said with a shrug. Looking down at his beer soaked shirt Sam set his new and old beer down removed his shirt and went to his closet.
Sam doubted him removing his shirt in front of Ghost would produce the same reaction it once did but even if he could make her blush uncomfortably a little he’d be sure to point it out. ”We always can use more numbers sides. Not as many I trust as much as you. Sides, you knew me at my best.” He didn’t comment more than that, it wasn’t that some of the X-Men didn’t trust him anymore, they were just more careful around him. It made Sam feel awkward.
”Wouldn’t mind having you back on the roster, you know nothing too dangerous. You have a kid after all.” Bruno followed Sam into the closet and exited with the beer soaked shirt in his mouth his tail wagging. He laid down on some papers and started to lick the shirt. ”You could at least train some of the newbies if you’d like. More and more added to the roster everyday. Hard to keep track of them all.” Sam said exiting his closet with a new shirt in his hand.
