The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nodding his head he willed the frozen T-rex to open his mouth and his body turned into a slide his back opened up to the sky and falling snow and his tail widened and opened into a large pile of snow. Distracting kids was easy heck if he could keep both his not-real kids entertained he could keep any kid entertained. Sam was listening however to Ghost as she explained how she was still processing. ”Be a great Tyler Perry movie.” Sam said trying to keep everything as light as he could. He wasn’t down playing the struggle Ghost was going through it was just he was trying to keep a smile on her face less some tears start to show.
”You’re a tough lil’lady Ghost no one is arguing that. I want to try and say everything happens for a reason but I never bought into that garbage. I do believe with good friends and family you can bring yourself back from anything. Stronger even. You need some money I know we can use some extra help in the mansion, might even be how we pay for your lawyers.” Sam said with a smirk trying to comfort her.
Leaning back on his car as well he raised a hand and some snow men sprouted out of the ground along with some snowballs closest to them. Throwing a snowball at a snowman and then offering one to Ghost, Sam continued to watch and feel where Rowan was. ”We can find you new stuff.” Sam said agreeing it was just stuff knowing it was more than that. A certain level of comfort to having a place to call your own, something when forcibly taken from you leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
When Ghost changed the subject to him having kids he threw a little harder at the next snowman knocking the head clean off. ”…… You know, I forgot about them until a few months ago.” Sam said his body tensing up as he picked up another snowball and checking it at another snowman causing this one to blow up sending flakes of snow everywhere. ”You missed a lot while you were gone. Good thing though.” Sam said trying not to think about it much even though every second he was thinking about his not-real family. ”… I miss ‘em.”
Tyler Perry? The black guy who played like all the characters in his movies, including old ladies? Or did he have more films than just that one she'd seen commercials for? Maya, as the owner and chief operator of a bookstore, had long since canceled her cable subscription. There was too much reading to keep up with to waste time on television. And being a single parent meant she hadn't gone to the movies in over a year... not that she had anyone to go with...
"I'm not sure I buy into all that either." Sometimes things just happened. And people made bad choices and others could pay for those consequences without deserving to. Logically, she knew all that. "I'm just... I feel lost." Or maybe it would be more accurate to say that she felt cast aside. The aeromancer muddled up a smile and another wave for Rowan as he slid down the dino-slide and whooped out a joyous 'Did you see me? Were you watching?' before he went and did it all over again.
"I wish we didn't have to get lawyers involved." Maya looked over to Sam, studying his profile as he tossed his snowballs with increasing venom.
She wanted to ask what happened a few months ago that would both make him remember his hypothetical children and make him upset, but Maya didn't want to poke at what seemed to be an open wound.
"Lucky you, I've got one for rent."
"Best day EVER! Wooo!" The sound of Rowan's voice echoed between the walls of his personal castle.

Sam wanted to counter her feeling lost to point to her then Rowan and then the mansion then say found but he didn’t. He was till trying to cheer her up but he was afraid too much of his humor might make her cry and that was the last thing he wanted to see. ”That was awesome dude!” Sam yelled to Rowan who was making sure his mother was watching. The slide changed a little every time as Rowan went back for another round. It was a good way to continue distracting the excited child while Sam was talking to his mom. Rowan didn’t need to hear some of this.
”I know, the cards were dealt got to work with what you got though right? Just like we did in the danger room way back when right?” Sam asked remembering the team sessions put on my Tricity and Neena. They’d both be happy to hear that Ghost came home. ”I’ll take him off your hands whenever you want. I know kids can be a handful.” Sam said with a lot nostalgia. Even if they weren’t real he had trouble sleeping because of it he was really happy he had some time with his kids. The not-real life was pretty nice before all the nightmares were created by Amanda.
”Just a heads up though,” Sam said with a little hesitation as he paused before the next throw ”Some of my history was forced out into the open in the mansion. They might tell you not to leave Rowan with me. There was a whole kidnapping mind control thing…” he threw the snowball. ”You know how persuasive they can be when they want something.” he turned to Ghost and shrugged pretending it didn’t bother him at all that he was taken control of so easily.
Just like the danger room? "No. You can shut down the danger room and end whatever wild ride you're on there." She laughed, but it wasn't exactly a happy sound. "But I get what you mean. I learned a lot about adaptability here. And the importance of working with whoever's standing shoulder to shoulder with you."
> ”I’ll take him off your hands whenever you want.”
"And use him to pick up chicks at the park?" She teased him. Rowan was not exactly the cutest kid. She knew that she had a mother's perspective and she saw him as handsome, but most humans wouldn't.
It was the curious gray hue to his skin. If he weren't so young and clearly healthy, Maya might worry more about that. As it was, it was Rowan's facial bones that worried her most. Dr. Ingram had X-rayed him, though. They were tracking his growth as he developed. He just wasn't developing in a human way. Whatever he was growing into, they'd have wait and see.
"Sam." Maya put her hand on his arm to quiet his fears. "I don't care about any of that. I know who you are on the inside and no matter what they did... I trust you. I trust who you are deep down." He'd probably rained down icy justice on whoever did that to him. He would be on his guard from now on too, now that he knew it was possible. In a way, it was more safe after than he was before.
"Ah! I gotta go! Potty, momma, potty! I gotta go!"
Moment over. Kids were good like that. Maya sprang to her feet and looked around. Gah. Nowhere to go! "Uhm. You, uh, want to stand? There is some tall grass..."
"Yeah! Pee on the side of the road!" She shook her head and went to help Rowan with his button. Hopefully pee was all he had to take care of. "I like to pee outside!"

It was nice to have Ghost back. The touch on the arm and the words of kindess was a good reminder why he always held such a high opinion of Ghost. She really was a good friend. Maybe a little to trusting of Sam, but he was trying to validate people’s trust in him. He’d never be controlled like that again. He knew what to do if that started to happen again and he had some countermeasures if his plan failed. None of his family or friends should ever have to be afraid of him. He wasn’t crying or about to but the sniff might elude that Sam was choking up a bit. ”Thanks…”
Cue Rowan the breaker of uncomfortable feeling overload, ”Me too dude.” Sam said as Rowan stated how Sam felt about good locations to pee. ”It’s frowned upon if I do it out here though. To out in the open.” Sam said as he turned and deconstructed the ice village and the T-Rex now that Rowan was no longer using them. The ice fell to snow and would soon melt on a day like today it was more than hot enough to melt some snow.
”You really think that would work?” Sam asked still leaning up against the car. ”Using Rowan to pick up women?” Sam asked thinking a bit more about it. Bruno his dog did help pick up some girls when he was a puppy. So did all the other dogs. Sammy was too awkward from what he remembered to talk to women and Ayrin. The sour taste was back in his mouth as he shrugged it off and went back to the driver’s side of the vehicle.
”Guess we won’t know till we try.” Sam said with a shrug as he got into his car and turned it on. Rolling down all the windows he made a train whistle sound and said, ”Next stop Mutant manor!”
Sam's watery thanks made Maya want to chuck him on the chin. Sometimes people just needed someone to be on their side, needed someone to believe in them in order for them to be able to believe in themselves. Maya was more than happy to lend that kind of support.
Instead, Maya stood guard as Rowan did his business in the tall grass. Thank goodness she'd had a boy who could stand a whiz without getting a drop on himself. Maya went for her purse and the hand sanitizer she kept inside it. At least they'd let her keep that.
She made sure to distribute sanitizer all around, even Sam got some. After that, she hustled Rowan back into the car before he could complain about his ice domain being deconstructed.
"I WASN'T FINISHED!" Okay. So there was no way to keep the complaints from happening, but at least now it was her fault for taking him away. "THE DINOSAUR WAS GOING TO DO A CIRCLE SLIDE. NO! WAIT! UNCLE SAM!"
> ”Next stop Mutant manor!”
"Once we get to the Sister School, we can set up something a little more permanent. This one was in the road and we don't want to block traffic. Plus, there are other kids to play with at the school. C'mon, Ro. It's just a little ways up the road." She did chuck Rowan on the chin. It didn't stop him from bawling in the backseat.
Maya shrugged at Sam as she got into the front and buckled in.
"You still want to try taking him to the park, be my guest." It was a little funny. She tried not to chuckle in front of Rowan, though. Didn't want to trample on his already hurt feelings.

With his hands smelling like an alcohol wipe thanks to Ghost and her hand sanitizer Sam started to chime in add, ”Enough kids here, and more ice dinosaurs than most people can handle.” Sam said pulling up to the front of the mansion with the large doors. Normally he’d drive into the garage but he was ready to give Ghost and Rowan the whole pitch and tour if they wanted to. Sam wanted Ghost to feel as welcome in the mansion as the first day she moved in years ago. It was important for Rowan as well. This would be his new home.
”I’ll take him to the park every day. Heck we can make one down stairs if the weather is bad.” Sam smirked and added, ”No giant robots, promise.” Sam got out of the car and opened up the large front door for the pair and he gestured them to enter. ”Welcome home guys.”
After walking into the main hallway Sam looked to Rowan, ”Keep in mind dude. This place is huge so no running off on your own okay?” Then to Ghost, ”Not much has changed, we have updated and renovated with the times. Bigger TV’s more books in the library and some newer staff but the feel is pretty much the same.” it would be the same for Ghost, Sam still felt like a lot has changed since the incident.
”Would you two like a tour, or would you prefer to check out your room?” Sam asked wondering what she wanted to do.
"Everyday? Honey, don't make promises you can't keep. You don't know when those emergency calls will come in and this kid would hold you accountable." His memory was long. Like scary long. Rowan would sometimes ask her about events that happened months ago that she was sure he'd have forgotten by now.
He would probably ask about his ice playground tonight before bed, if not again in a few weeks. Sam just didn't understand full time parenting.
They went through the main doors. "You know, we have been here before. Visiting dad."
"We're gonna see Grampa?"
"Even better, kiddo." Maya stopped and put her hands on her knees so that her eyes were more on level with Rowans. She made her voice enthusiastic because the more excited she could get him, the less likely Rowan would feel their forced change of scenery. "We're going to be living here with Gramps now."
Rowan whooped with almost as much enthusiasm as he had when he first rode down the ice dinosaur slide. He started to tear off through the hall when Sam spoke up to stop him.
He stopped, but bounced in place like barely contained energy.
"Uh. Maybe instead of a tour we can find Grampa and you can run around outside some more." Maya elbowed Sam as she walked past him, a grin on her face. "Then maybe you can show me which room you're gonna stash us in." Maybe, finally, she would live in the adult wing.

It was sad to admit it but Sam didn’t really think about if there was an emergency. In most of his memories of his not-real family there never was one. New York was miles away to far to matter to him. They lived in a somewhat secluded area where there never was any crime. It was a quite life one that he didn’t live now. ”…. Didn’t think about that.” Sam said scratching the back of his head ignoring the fact that Ghost called him honey. It felt like he was talking to an adult and he a child, which was normally how he felt when he was talking to Ghost.
”Oh yeah, Papa Ghost.” Sam said remembering her dad did work in the mansion. Truth be told Sam had been avoiding most of the faculty after the incident otherwise he’d get dirty looks or studied as if he was a wild animal. It might be best Sam didn’t go see Papa Ghost with Ghost and Rowan.
The elbow caused Sam to cover up his side after it happened. Sam grinned and nodded, ”How about I go get your room set up and you guys come find me after you see Grandpa?” Sam asked already setting his mind on not seeing Rowan’s grandfather.
”Already got a room in mind and yes, it will be exactly like your old room!” Sam said with a mischievous grin on his face. No way he’d force the pair to have a room that small. Maybe a few doors down from him or a nice corner room that was bigger than his.
One last teasing shout of "Coward!" And Maya and Rowan were on their way down to the office hallway. Luckily he was there and not doing a remedial summer class or something.
"Granpa!" Rowan threw himself without abandon at his grandfather.
"Is that Rowan? Gosh, you're getting so -oof- big!" He caught the boy up in a big hug and spun him around.
"Rahh! I'm so big I'm going up to the ceiling like a ice dinosaur! Rahh!"
"Whoa. That is big. Hey, Maya." Papa Ghost gave his daughter a side hug, already hoisting the kiddo up on one hip. "I didn't expect to see you guys today."
"Unscheduled visit."
"We're gonna live with you now!"
"Whoa. Uh. I mean, not that I'm not thrilled and all, but—" Papa G let Rowan slide down to stand on his own feet and touched Maya's shoulder. "—honey, is something wrong?"
"No more than the usual." She laughed, but it was a sad sort of cover. "I don't really want to get into it, but yeah. The police are going through our stuff now."
"Police! That unicorn—" He went on to give Maya his edited for 3 year old ears version of what he thought about that unicorn. "—so... he should just jump in a lake."
"That sounds like fun! Can we go swimming too, Gramps?"
"I'd like to see about maybe getting us settled. Would it be a burden if I left.."
"No! Never." It was almost like he was trying to make up for Maya's lack of a unicorn. She felt bad for using him, but he wouldn't have it any other way. "We have a good time, don't we, Ro?"
"Swimming?"
"Maybe! Let's go see if the kids in the pool are too rowdy for us to get in."
"Thanks, dad." Maya waved to them both and heaved a sigh once the kiddo was out of the way. She loved him, but wow he was a handful. TWO hands full.
The aeromancer jogged up the stairs in search of Sam.

The corner room was massive compared to his, big enough to put a few beds a full fridge and whatever Ghost and Rowan could want or need. The bathroom was large and spacious and the closet was big enough to turn into a small room if Rowan wanted to get his own room. Sam remembered how willing his not-real son was to ‘be a big boy and have his own room’ when he was Rowan’s age. Sam wasn’t sure if Rowan shared that personality trait but he had the option never the less. A few rooms and across the hallway was Sam’s room so there was a babysitter close enough if he was around or needed not that he would be needed with Ghost’s father so close. Sam did however make sure her father and them were on different floors, which was more for Ghost than anyone.
Sam looked into the room that already had a queen-sized bed and small twin bed (one he managed to move from one of the other rooms) there was also a television a coffee table and some towels in bathroom. Anything else they’d need Sam was sure Ghost could ask him or anyone else on the floor for it. There were few who didn’t know who Ghost was she was hard to say no to.
Sam waited outside the room leaning up against the door-way for Ghost and Rowan. When he just saw Ghost he figured Rowan was hanging out with his grandfather. ”Just so you know there is a handful of people on the floor if you need anything. I’m still in the same room, a few doors down. Sam said as he gestured towards her room. ”As always it’s your room. You want something changed say the word. I’ll whip a moving crew for you, you think you can make this room work?” Sam asked stepping out of the way so Ghost could take the room in.
”Also I think I got an idea on what you can do to help out around the mansion till you get back on your feet.” Sam said with a smirk.
Sam waited by a door like an old Western sheriff waiting to ambush the outlaw. Or maybe that was just how Maya felt. It was weird to be back. It was even weird that it felt weird. It wasn't like she hadn't been back to visit or anything.
"Great. I'll try not to be too proud to ask." Or too timid. But she had at least been working on that. Maya glanced down the hall at the other rooms and wondered who all was living here.
"You know, I don't think I've never seen your room." Though she had heard he kept a stash of booze. A certain cat had let a few things slip to her about the Mansion Leader.
Sam's expression made Maya suspicious about what he had in mind for her to earn her keep. "You make me think I'm not going to like what you're about to suggest."

”Don’t be.” Sam stated simply. Everyone needed a hand from time to time. Pride can do some good but it shouldn’t prevent from getting help when needed. Something he learned over time, something he also had a hard time remembering he faking his death was prime example of that.
Raising an eyebrow he looked to Ghost and shook his head. ”You have, I think.” Sam said trying to recall when she had seen his room. It defiantly wasn’t the same reason as some of the other ladies in the mansion (small fraction of NYC) had seen his room but he could never be to sure. There were a few times he had a hard time remembering what had happened. Sam immediately dismissed the thought; Ghost would have been more awkward around him if anything happened.
Snapping his fingers Sam recalled the first time, ”Right after Hawaii!” Sam said with a smirk as if the entire trip was a good one. Kidnapping and brainwashing aside, up until then it was a decent trip. ”Right?” Sam asked curiously as he tried to think on it more. ”Any who, I’ll show you now. Just in case.” Sam said with a head tilt and pushed off the wall.
Heading towards his own room he added, ”Yeah, I think you’ll like it just fine. The need a little help in the library, figure with your love for books and all.” Sam shrugged his shoulders, ”But… if you don’t want to do that. I guess we can just put you on greeter patrol.” Sam said like there was a choice between the two. There wasn’t he needed more help with greeting but he knew Ghost would love the library if she didn’t already. ”The hours aren’t bad for either.” Sam said stopping after a few doors to face his own.
The loud sniffing of his large Saint Bernard, Bruno could be heard from under the crack of the door. ”You remember Bruno right?” Sam asked as he opened the door and grabbed Bruno by the collar as he walked into his somewhat clean room. ”Now he doesn’t jump unless on you but he is big enough to knock someone over when he is trying to get a little love,” Sam started to pat Bruno’s side as he stepped further into his room. ”Isn’t that right buddy.” Bruno replied with a tail wag and exited whine.
Kicking some of his shirts out of the way Sam ignored the empty beer cans and bottles that were placed around the room. More than a few were by his night stand and if she went into the bathroom she would have found some more by the kitchen sink and even more in the large fridge in the corner of his room. ”Haven’t had anyone over in a bit.” Sam said with a shrug as he let Bruno go greet Ghost properly . ”You remember Cammie right?” Sam said nodding to the tabby cat on the made bed who perked and was now focusing on the commotion.
They spoke at the same time, coming to the same conclusions in very different ways.
"Ha! That's right. I am... well, I'm not really sorry. Maybe a little? That trip was such a mind bender, I'd forgotten all about the after."
But she was more than a little curious to see how he lived now.
Aaaand it was terrible. "Sam." Yeah. She busted out the mom voice, but he should be ashamed of living in such squalor. She felt especially sorry for the animals. They were by no means neglected, but they were far too used to stepping over beer cans.
"H-hello, Bruno." Honestly, the creature had always made Ghost nervous. Dogs were okay in theory, but in person? And this one was especially big and well muscled. "Yep. The cat. Hey, Cam." Maya waved as if the cat understood. It was better safe than sorry, though, around cats.
She was already formulating plans on how to tidy Sam's room. As a thank you, of course. Not because it really bothered her or anything. "The library sounds great. At least I know it's something I can handle." She breathed a sigh of relief. The library. Why didn't she think of that? The aeromancer had been imagining Sam making her teach P.E. or some other torture.

The way she said his name made him feel like he did something wrong. It was something she, Tricity and Neena all had in common the voice that had a tone of disappointment. Something that he never remembered hearing from his mother. ”WhatIdo?” he asked curiously knowing it had to deal with the beer bottles. Ah that must have meant she wanted a beer. Snapping his fingers he pointed to the fridge as Ghost greeted Cammie who started to purr loudly with a long stretch on her back. ”You want a beer?” Sam asked having a feeling he already knew her response.
”I should hope you can handle it, you do own a bookstore, one I’m sure you will have back up and running in no time.” Sam said to reassure her once again as he went to his fridge and grabbed two of the lighter beers. An empty can or two might have rolled out of the fridge when he opened the door. More would have if he kept it open. Sam felt a little bad about his room looking like this but he had been trying to avoid said room at the mansion by keeping so busy in the city. Crime doesn’t sleep so unless he had a reason to come, other to care for his pets he usually stayed in the city.
Bruno whined and wagged his tail as he danced in place in front of Ghost. He let out a loud whine then shoved his head towards he hand hoping she’d take the cue to start petting. Sam then offered to toss the can of beer towards Ghost.
