The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lunch time at school was probably the only thing Tobias looked forward to while on campus. It seemed like everyday he'd be ready to tackle whatever would be thrown at him only to become burned out halfway. Fortunately, he could recuperate with a sandwich or slice of pizza and some chocolate milk and relax.
"Hey Tobias, you gotta come quick!" A friend quickly sped through the cafeteria and towards Tobias. His voice not only revealed a sense of urgency but fear and excitement as well. Tobias turned around to to see the look on his face. Tobias braced himself as he focused in him. He was panting as he spoke. "Some guys are beating on a mutant outside!"
It was with that that the two made their way outside towards the quad where a large group of students were huddled. After unsuccessfully trying to squeeze his way through the group, they would instead turn around and opt for the elevated area not too far away. Tobias tiptoed around, hopping as he tried to get a good sight of the fight. He could get an aerial view, but that would gather too much attention. Attention he probably didn't need. Fortunately, he wouldn't have to think about it for too long as the principal and school campus guards would rush in to disband the group, leaving behind four students, one of which was on the ground.
Astonished at the sight, Tobias stood in shock. Thoughts flooded his mind as the stared at the remnants of the event. Bloodied and beat up, if the mutant survived it would be a miracle. The reason for the lack of any student intervention then became obvious. It was self preservation. Should he have gotten involved? Could he have gotten involved? Would it even have mattered? Probably not. He continued to stand there until he would be forced to move by officials as paramedics rushed the scene. He was dazed as he would make his way towards his next class. It didn't matter though; school was done for the day.
It had been a few weeks since the event happened at school, but the feeling still resonated with Tobias. Whenever he walked through the courtyard, he would pause to evaluate the possibility of it being him that was beaten. He was a mutant of course. And while the responsible party had been dealt with, there were still people who would resort to the actions those students took.
"I can't wait to graduate and get out of here." Tobias said to himself. He sighed as he moved past the area, making way to the school field where the school population was less congested. He continued to walk to the far end of the field where he stopped to examine the area for students before calling a friend over.
A single bird came down from the sky, a pigeon. On the grass below him, Tobias observed the bird. The thought of being a mutant came to his mind as he reached out his hand and he called the bird up It flew up and landed on his wrist cooing and its head almost instantaneously looked up to stare at his face. Tobias turned his head as he couldn't keep focus on the bird. Would he eventually have to hide from the world? Or would he continue to use his powers like this and risk confrontation? It was a problem he wished he could solve.
Tobias raced home from school as the sun beamed down from above. He couldn't wait until he got home. It was incredibly hot. As he shut the door behind him, he was met with a surprise. It was something he hadn't ever experienced before.
Both of his parents were waiting for him inside of their living room. The television was off and they both seemed to have an air of seriousness around them. Tobias stood staring at them for a couple seconds before slowly awkwardly making his way to his room.
"Tobias, wait." Said his mother. "About that...thing that happened at your school a while. Your father and I were thinking of pulling you out and sending you somewhere else." His father stood silently as his mother spoke.
"Mom, I'm over it. Relax. The guys who did it got in trouble, and nothing like that has happened since." Tobias tried to convince his mother that her concerns were misplaced, but it was obvious she was firm in her decision. "Dad! Come on! I've got friends at that school that I've known forever!" His father looked down and away from his son.
"Right now we're just letting you know that we're looking at other schools and that right now you shouldn't expect to stay at your school for too long." His mother said as his father decided to leave. "Just enjoy it for now and we'll tell you more later."
