The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Fade, I mean Jenny McCullen walked down the streets, shadowing her mind in a world of old expectations and excitement. Her past was an ugly sword that stuck from the back of her mind with a jeweled handle. The begining. The only part worthy remembering. Her parents, her sister, all together, watching Barney and playing Yatzee.
The Yatzee queen, that was what little Jenny was. Little Yatzee Queen, champion of Disney's Yatzee. She was undefeted, but it was unknown whether her parents would purposefully loose, because recent events told her that they may have been mutants as well, mutants hiding behind a Yatzee board. Hiding from a band of armed men set out to stop the gene from spreading and their only hope was a Yatzee board, a house, and a family. Lousy defense, it turned out to be. They would have been better leaving the country, running from the men, running into the future.
But they didn't run, the future didn't hold her parents, she walked alone, as she had since she was only four. Such a lonely life, yielding more wrong turns after each intersection. The Mansion was the only good thing that had happened since her parents had died.
Finally, she saw it, the peeling blue paint, the broken windows, the weed-overwhelming driveway, the stench of smoke and graffiti. A small piece of paper was plastered on the door, it was to be torn down...seven years ago. Said to be haunted. Everyone knew of the haunted house where a girl was kidnapped and later her family followed. Murder or fate? The notion haunted the surrounding characters. Eyes followed the redhead as she sat in front of her old house, huddled up in a large black hoodie, warming her with her memories and regrets. Regrets, quite a few, regretful that she didn't try hard enough to escape, to get back to them. Was she the trap? The reason?
The cold air nipped at her, causing her to bring her knees to her chest, breathing into them as if they carried her vital organs. A small tear ran out of her blue eyes and dropped onto her knees before she lifted her head and just stared at the house, moving her hands around her as if her fingertips held close memories that could only be accessed by touch. Wait for them, maybe they never died, maybe they lived, maybe they were still hiding, hiding behind that Yatzee board in the bitter and broken house.
A pair of curious eyes felt it best to phone up the police, but they would not come, not yet, not to the haunted house. All Fade had left was time, so she waited for her time to merge with another's.

The cab dropped Amp and Vibe five blocks from where they wanted, but the driver refused to go further. For that reason he left with a cracked windshield, ringing ears, and a fare short.
Vibe looked around at the neighborhood, and shivered slightly. It wasn’t cold, and not very windy. But she felt a wave of memory wash over her, and it gave her the chills.
>I don’t like this Amp. There’s too many memories here. Did we have to come back?<
Amp nodded and led the way forward. ”Yes. I want to prove to Miss Invisible that she’s a liar. And remind her who she’s dealing with.” Her voice was cold, and determined. True, they hadn’t seen their own family for well over a year, and their aunt, uncle and cousins had been dead for twelve or thirteen years. But that didn’t mean she’d let some Xman upstart lay claim to a family name that wasn’t hers.
They cut through yards and back trails, avoiding the main street. The neighbor hood was run down, but still lived in. The girls had dressed in dark blue sweats, a far change from their usual green and gold glitter. But they didn’t want any undue attention drawn to them just yet. They approached the house from the back yard. It was overgrown, and Vibe cringed as she picked her way through.
>If I get bit by a snake or spider and die, I swear I’m going to come back and haunt you until you die of fright.<
“If a spider or snake bit you, it would be the one that died, from attitude poisoning.”
Vibe made a silent mocking face behind Amp’s back, and continued following her, watching her step even more carefully.
The back door hung off of its hinges, but there was a gap big enough for the petite girls to squeeze through. Vibe coughed as dust and smoke smell assailed her nostrils.
>Ugh That’s nasty Come on, Amp, this house is ancient. It looks like it could come down any minute. What could we possibly find here that the bugs haven’t already digested?< She cringed again, and rubbed her arms. She was getting goosebumps.
Her sister stood in the middle of the room, looking around. She walked around the main floor, floorboards creaking ominously beneath her feet. Eventually she made her way into the front room. Moth-eaten furniture was overturned and broken, as if someone had considered looting the place, but then decided against it. Finally she sighed, and shrugged. ”I.... I don’t know...”
She placed a hand on a grimy window. She could almost see the reflection of a smiling family looking back at her.
With a frustrated exclamation, she turned and smacked the window with a fist, rattling the glass. Vibe stared sullenly at her sister.
A loud thump shook Fade from her memories as she glanced up at her old house, The sun was in her eyes, so she could not see what had made the noise, possibly a ghost, maybe a bug, perhaps neither. Curiousity had taken ahold of Fade though and she got up. Her collar bone was still recovering but she no longer needed a sling to help it along. Slowly, she turned the doorknob and stepped inside.
The dusty air filled her lungs and she covered her mouth and nose with her sleeve as she made her way inside. Another noise, her eyes shot up and she followed the noise. ((Sorry, severe writers block)). It was the twins.
"God damnit, what are you guys doing here? Did you take my folder and find out where I lived? You can't be my cousins, you just can't. Leave me alone."

Both girls froze as footsteps approached the front door. Amp moved forward, ready to blast whoever it was coming. But when the door opened, both of their jaws dropped.
"God damnit, what are you guys doing here? Did you take my folder and find out where I lived? You can't be my cousins, you just can't. Leave me alone."
"What are you doing here? Why would we take your folder? We already know more about you than we wanted to!"
Fade wasn't the only one having issues with this turn of events. It was just too much of a coincidence, and the girls were having a hard time coming to grips with what seemed to be the only conclusion of this situation. Amp ran a hand through her hair.
"Listen, our cousins and their family lived here over twelve years ago. You must have moved in after they left. Or something. So we have more right to be here than you even. And we're not the ones following you. You're following us!"
Things just weren't making sense. At least, not the sense that the twins wanted it to make....
They were talking back again. Generally, Fade would have just threw a punch, but she stood her ground and pointed at the photo behind them. "This is my house, my family lived here. Does it look like anyone has occupied this house in 12 years? See the little redhead? Yeah, that's me! See the older redhead? That's my mom, and my dad is next to here with brown hair. And my sister is the one in front of my dad with brown hair. Where are you in the photo? You're not there, so you're not family." She growled.
"My family is dead." It was an odd sentence, she hated saying it, but to her knowledge, it was true, her family was dead and she was all alone, except for maybe her disappeared boyfriend, but she didn't linger on his memory for long.
"I came here because you upset me and I wanted proof that you weren't related to me. Don't you think you would have noticed earlier if I was following you with your abilities? Prolly would have sent a bat after me or something like that. No, I have no clue why you're here and it's annoying me. What is your last name?" She crossed her arms.

Amp clenched her fists, totally ready to shut this loudmouth up, but Vibe wasn't giving her anything to work with. The longer-haired redhead had instead turned to look at the photo Fade was pointing at. Her face paled even further than usual. She tugged on her sister's sleeve.
>Amp.... Look...<
Frustrated, her sister did as requested. For a long moment both girls simply stared at the photo, a still-life version of a living quartet of faces they hadn't thought about in over a decade. Amp's shoulders drooped.
"It's just not possible..." she murmured, still trying to fight back a truth that was weighing on the pair of them heavier than a ton of bricks. They didn't even hear Fade's ranting, until her last question.
"What is your last name?"
Vibe looked up at her, eyes close to tearing. Amp, shoulders still stiff, didn't turn to look at her at all. But her answer was just barely audible.
"Enders. Amanda and Viola Enders." She paused. Then, "They... told us y-... Jenjen... was dead..." Her voice faltered a bit. Finally she looked up, her eyes full of unanswered questions and denial.
Fade couldn't believe it. It really was Vi and Manda Enders, her cousins. She had family. The thought of it forced her to sit down on the couch behind her. It creaked and sqealed under her weight, but Fade ignored it. Her emotions and thoughts were running haywire, so it was no coincidence when she temporarily lost control of her new found power and phased through the couch, now stuck half-way down, but she didn't care.
Her face was planted between her hands as she stared at the ground, flipping through her memories as if they were pages of a dusty scrapbook. Finally, she found the memory she needed, when they were playing hopskotch. Two redheads right in front of her, there weren't too many of those on the East Coast. It had to be them. She scanned their year-reduced faces and compared them to the faces standing in front of her.
It was true, she wasn't alone. Jenjen had family. Again, the thought caused her to blankly stare up at the twins before choking back tears of happiness. She placed her hand over her mouth as if that would help, and closed her eyes before phasing through the couch more. Finally, she gained enough energy to speak. "Where have you been?" It sort of came out as a laugh, but it was a pitiful one if you classified it like so.

While Fade may have been happy, the Twins had mixed emotions, especially Amp. Their recent experience at KP had something to do with it as well.
It was near impossible to deny now. The coincidences were too many to be ignored; apparently the three redheads were related after all. Amp and Vibe prided themselves on being inseparable; they were family and you always looked out for family. Despite having left home, they did keep in touch with their grandparents, who kept them up-to-date on their parents.
Suddenly they now had found out that the had more family, family long thought dead, but obviously alive. It should have been a happy occasion....
But they were on opposite sides. Not just that, they had fought each other. Had they learned about Jenjen... Fade.... before KP, things might have turned out differently. But now....
"Where have you been?"
Vibe blinked, suddenly aware of Fade's phasing problems. She started to move forward to help, then paused. She looked at her sister. Amp shrugged.
"Just been hanging 'round the city for year or so. Things got too intense back home...." Suddenly she stopped and shook her head. She placed one hand on her hip, ran the other through her short hair. "Wait a sec, I don't understand. Mom told us that you were killed. Why would she lie? What happened to you?"
It was going to take them, Amp especially, a long time to be easy with this sudden development.
Fade just nodded and looked down at the floor. That whole 'just-found-out-she-had-family-thing' was just too shocking for her to speak too well. That is, until Manda asked about what really happened to Fade. That was when a frown crossed her face and a quick flashback to her nasty past revealed the face of her kidnapper, all ugly and weird-ish. Him. She hated talking about him. It was by far the worst memory that she had. She would gladly be possessed by Oppressor any day in order to make sure that he never got to her again.
"When I was four, I don't remember much of that night, just that I woke up with an uneasy feeling and saw him next to my bed, he put a cloth over my face and I was out. Then for a year, I stayed with him in this tiny room as he made dozens of phone calls and left the house occasionally, but I was always locked in my room. I have most of those days blocked off from my memory, but I remember the police busting in and going to the police station just to hear that my parents died in a car accident and that my sister commited suicide. Then I went to a foster home, they never said anything about anyone else in my family, said I had to go to a foster home." She finally raised her gaze, her eyes were red, but there were no tears. Not now that she spoke about him.

Then for a year, I stayed with him in this tiny room as he made dozens of phone calls and left the house occasionally, but I was always locked in my room.
A feeling of instant hatred flooded the sisters, so suddenly that it surprised both of them. The intensity was not unusual; the Twins knew how to make and hold grudges. But the fact that the protectiveness was directed toward someone they had been trying to deafen only a few days before was.... confusing....

Then I went to a foster home, they never said anything about anyone else in my family, said I had to go to a foster home."
Vibe shot a glance at her sister, frowning in confusion. Amp closed her eyes, trying to recall those early years she had long ago relegated to the 'unhappy memories' section of her mind. Several images and scenes flashed through her mind. A late night phone call that Vibe eavesdropped a bit on. Aunt Deb sounding frantic and rambling about Jenjen being kidnapped. Mom and Dad going through the house checking window and door locks. The twins, Amp verbally, whining when a family dinner was canceled that week. The twins whining again when the weren't allowed to start kindergarten that week as well. Their aunt and uncle stopping by the house briefly, and Dad handing them a paper bag full of something. Another phone call late that same night, but too short to sneak a listen.
Amp shook her head, clearing the images from her mind. It wasn't long after that that their parents had up and moved them to another state. The girls had started school a month late because of the move, and it wasn't until nearly three months later that their parents broke the news to them about their cousins' deaths. And they hadn't given details. There had been no funerals to attend, nor gravesites to visit, something the at-the-time six-year-olds hadn't realized was unusual.
Looking up at Fade, Amp said, slowly and quietly, "No police ever came our house, not that we can remember. Mom and Dad just... up and moved us... No warning, no reason. And no one tracked us down either..."
She let her words trail off, not sure what else to say.
>What do we do now?< Vibe asked. Amp shrugged. The pair of them stared at Fade, unsure and still uneasy, emotions that were new territory for the usually overconfident pair.
Suddenly Amp shook her head and pointed to her being stuck in the couch. "You look so ridiculous right now, ya know that?" Vibe shook her head and moved foward to grasp Fade's arm, attempting to pull her out of the couch.
"No police ever came our house, not that we can remember. Mom and Dad just... up and moved us... No warning, no reason. And no one tracked us down either..."
"Go figure. If you guys knew I was alive, I'd assume I'd have lived with you. But why they did that, and who did it is completely blank to me. I don't get why they would. I mean, mutants have not been that big of a deal until more of them began appearing about a year or two later...do you think that our parents were mutants, too?" She asked. "If they knew I was one, they would have just killed me instead of kidnapping me, so what went on?" Finally, she looked up.
A small laugh managed to escape her thoughtful mind when the twins pointed out her current position. She rolled her eyes after noticing just how phased in that she was and pulled herself out of the couch before sitting on top of it. "Sorry, newly found ability. I haven't gotten used to it just yet."

Amp shook her head. "You think too much..." she remarked. It was actually another way of saying, 'I don't want to think about it'.
There was an awkward pause. Eventually Amp asked, "Soo... we see you managed to survive all right on your own. Though you're choice of friends seems to be lacking..."
Family or not, sarcasm had long become part of the Twins vocabulary. It was now simply second nature. And neither of the girls could hide their distaste for the Xmen, a fact that was most likely going to prove a sensitive issue with their newly-found cousin.
"I think just enough, but I don't want to any more. It's too confusing." She smiled. It was too confusing, she couldn't keep up. She just needed a good night's sleep and maybe some motrin. What with X-Men training and everything, things were going weird. Not to mention Raph's sudden disappearance. Where was he? She could only hope that he was OK, she would never forgive himself if he was hurt with one of those crazy cagefighter guys that had 'beef' with him.
At the mention of Fade's friends, the redhead looked over at the twins and spoke again, taking a defensive side. "They aren't friends, they are family. I haven't been a good kid my whole life, but it doesn't mean that it should stay that way. You should come check out the mansion, it's actually really friendly and easy to fit it."
((Sorry, I am too sick to think of anything else))

"They aren't friends, they are family. I haven't been a good kid my whole life, but it doesn't mean that it should stay that way. You should come check out the mansion, it's actually really friendly and easy to fit it."
Yep, sensitive subject.
In sync, Amp and Vibe shook their heads. >"No thanks."<
"We're just fine at the Sanctuary."
There was an awkward pause as they tried to figure out some neutral ground in the discussion. Finally Amp said aloud, "Sooo.... you wanna go get something to eat? Or go shopping? Or something.... ?" Perhaps if they could find a common interest, the current 'opposite sides' issue could be ignored for the time being.
