The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

His gait certainly told the tale well enough. Walking, fast and heavy, purposeful. A man on a mission. A mission to bring himself 7 years bad luck if that's what it took.
He knew he'd find his mark in the offices. They all had paperwork, some had more than others though. His mark seemed to almost have more than the boss man himself.
The knob disappeared as he touched it. The entire latch mechanism went with it, a gassy cloud somewhere near the floor. That didn't make him any happier. He shouldered open the door.
Bang!
Yup, right where he thought she'd be.
"Have you ABSOLUTELY lost your damn mind!?!"
Cafas had just found out through the grape vine. Cafas was not pleased.
Maya's first reaction was to duck and roll. Tipping back from her chair where she was sitting, her feet propped up on the desk, she went straight backwards and landed in the cover of the desk, just in the off chance someone started shooting.
The voice, however, was familiar.
"Cafas?!" Maya stood, glaring at her teammate "What the ***** hell is wrong with you?!"
She might well duck for cover! He half wanted to punch her! But that would have been bad for team unity. Plus, girl.
"Me!?! What is wrong with ME!?! What the hell is wrong with You!? A bank robbery? SERIOUSLY?! HIS FIRST MISSION TO A BANK ROBBERY!?! You can't just take a fresh trainee to a bank robbery Maya! He could have been killed because you failed to consider his skill level! YOU COULD HAVE DIED! Did you even think about that!?"
Cafas' hair was standing nearly on end from him tugging at it and running his fingers through it as he gestured. It didn't help the crazy look.
Pacing was involved too, and a huge amount of restrain not to break something... Okay something else, the door hardly counted.

Maya winced at the yelling; she had not seen Cafas this freaked out since... ever. She felt like her hair was literally blown back by the volume alone.
"This is about Aiden?" she was finally up to speed on what ticked her teammate off so bad "Come on Cafas I didn't even take him inside! I just needed a second person when going on a mission. It was one person, straight up, I could have handled it alone! Aiden was outside with the cops! He's a trainee, he was completely safe."
"Come on Cafas I didn't even take him inside! I just needed a second person when going on a mission. It was one person, straight up, I could have handled it alone! Aiden was outside with the cops! He's a trainee, he was completely safe."
That did nothing to help the situation. Cafas was mad about the affair on principle.
"We are NEVER completely safe! Least of all when a lone person holds up a bank! You got LUCKY Maya. What if they'd had back up? Who do you think a sniper would have targeted? The cops, or the X-man?"
Experience suggested they almost always had back up, these supposed loners. The fact that this time they didn't have someone watching the street didn't change that they needed to act as if they did.
"And then you left him to walk home alone! A uniformed X-man! DID THE RIOTS TEACH YOU NOTHING!?! Have you watched the news? Tensions are still massive, we get mutant attacks daily, humans too, and you LEFT A TEAM MEMBER BEHIND! He's BARELY combat competent without his rapiers, and he can't use those as an X-man!"
Which bugged Cafas anyway. Non-lethal force was a good way to die to someone trying to kill you.
>>"We are NEVER completely safe! Least of all when a lone person holds up a bank! You got LUCKY Maya. What if they'd had back up? Who do you think a sniper would have targeted? The cops, or the X-man?"
Maya folded her arms defiantly over her chest, half annoyed by the yelling (Cafas definitely had volume when he wanted) and half annoyed by the fact that he was kind of, sort of, probably right.

Tensions are still massive, we get mutant attacks daily, humans too, and you LEFT A TEAM MEMBER BEHIND! He's BARELY combat competent without his rapiers, and he can't use those as an X-man!"
"I didn't make him walk home!" she snapped "There were cops all over the place, I told him to get a ride. Also, did you completely miss the part that I had an infant to take care of?!"
An infant that was supposed to be hers. His. Whatever. She was not sure if the rumor had gotten around yet, but the baby was definitely hard to miss.
"You know as well as I do that the kid was NOT an excuse to leave Aiden! Police or no police! It was your job to make sure he got home safely! Not tell him to go with the police, but to get him back to the Mansion yourself! He is a TRAINEE and he was in YOUR charge! Try to remember that next time you take a trainee out."
Cafas was winding down. It didn't seem to help much that Maya appeared to be winding up at that point. Maya had screwed up, and it had pissed Cafas off twice as much that it had been Aiden she'd screwed up with, but there really wasn't much else to say.
"Why did you take the kid anyway."
His voice had returned to a much more reasonable level, if slightly breathless from all the shouting. Cafas smoothed out his hair a bit. He didn't need any help looking ridiculous and the pink super Saiyan look was pushing him over the edge of the comical.
Cafas found a chair and sat down, the anger draining out of him rather faster than he would have thought.
"Well he was the one ready to throw up after the mirrorwalk..." Maya sighed, holding up her hands in a sign of defense. Cafas was blowing off steam, and she had to admit he had a point "All right all right, next time I'll walk him home."
>>"Why did you take the kid anyway."
Maya blinked; apparently the rumors were slower on the uptake than she had thought.
"Because it's... because the woman who kidnapped it said it was mine."
Cafas arched an eyebrow at Maya's response. Arched it high. He was all kinds of puzzled. How could it be hers?
"Maya, I didn't know you were even pregnant. Wait.. How... You know what on second thought, I don't want to know. How did I not notice though? Man how much attention have I been paying lately?"
Also wasn't Allison's kid missing? Should he mention it? Certainly he should to Alli. She'd want to know. Heck, if it was her kid and he didn't mention it, she'd kill him. Did Maya need to be told though? Probably.
"Kidnapper though... One of my friends, her kid got napped recently."
Engage pained and slightly sarcastic mode.
"If you've been keeping up with my acting career and the gossip columns you'll know about her, Allison Sinnocent."
Actually he'd have to speak to Allison soon anyway, there was talk of a sequel...
>>"Maya, I didn't know you were even pregnant. Wait.. How... You know what on second thought, I don't want to know. How did I not notice though? Man how much attention have I been paying lately?"
Maya pinched the bridge of her nose.
"I'm the father, Cafas. Not the mother."
Seriously, some people and their logic.
>>"Kidnapper though... One of my friends, her kid got napped recently. If you've been keeping up with my acting career and the gossip columns you'll know about her, Allison Sinnocent."
"Honestly, I didn't even know you act." she sighed. She couldn't exactly blame Cafas for missing a pregnancy if she didn't notice that he was on the big screen. She waved the thought away.
"Maybe they are connected. If someone kidnaps a child and tries to rob a bank with it, who's to say they are not working with a gang or something?... You might wanna tell your friend to come here and talk to us. Whenever the woman talks, we might find something out that helps her."
"Well that appears to make one person at the mansion who doesn't know. Thank god for that frankly I was beginning to think I'd never escape the constant references. Some people have no respect." HE knew of a few people who seemed to honestly believe that he genuinely enjoyed the novel that he had starred in the adaptation of that would remain nameless for now.
Clearly they do not know that you are simply a sell out with zero artistic integrity... Is it still selling out if I have never acted before that?
"Anyway my point was more that the child might also be hers. I honestly never took you for one who had taken home enough people to not realise you had gotten one of them pregnant." Though there was always the chance he was very very wrong. also the fact that he had not taken himself as one who would fall in love with another male, so there was that.
"But I think I will tell her to come see us. At the very least putting the X-men on the case would be a good idea. We need better PR, and a child rescue would do us a world of good."
