The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

CRASH!!!
For a fleeting moment, there was a sense of satisfaction as the vase on the beside table shattered. Shards of colored glass clattered against the wall, sprinkled the carpet, and landed close to the mirror she had started to aim for. In her moment of hesitation, she changed direction of the punch she had formed, and send her fist through the decorative piece. She stared at the broken glass for a moment, energy leaving her, until the pain shot through her hand and she realized exactly what she'd done.
"Shiiiitt!" Blood ran down her fingers, little pieces of glass imbedded in her knuckles, and she backed into the bed writhing slightly as she clutched her hand to her stomach. In front of her, the mirror that had started things sat innocently by and she glared at the reflection. The echoes continued their remarks making her regret not breaking it in the first place.
[Jealous. Denies feelings and emotions. Lacks emotional control and--] She yelled slightly and then prowled forward, flipping the mirror so it faced the wall. It was a tall mirror, and it took effort to do, little trails of blood lingering on the frame when she was done. She didn't care though. She had to sit and listening to the dumb thing analyzing herself all morning, and she didn't like what it said. She was NOT jealous.
What a freaking, messed up, once-in-a-lifetime crap day.
Gawain wondered down the Mansion hallway, feeling like this was the first day of the rest of his life. Which was just a nice way of saying that he owed some people big apologies.
Evelyn being on top of the list.
Running his fingers through his still messy hair, he walked down the girls' wing and stood in front of the door for a while. Casually. Definitely not running away.
Hell, he had faced the Queen herself, how bad could Evelyn be?

When you're arguing with the voices in your head, it's easy to miss subtle things like their warnings about approaching footsteps. Hand still bleeding as she tried to find something to help get the glass out, the knock on the door was unexpected and highly inconvenient. Glancing down at her shirt, she flinched at the blood she'd smeared on it, and the little fleck that had gotten on her pants. This wasn't a great time for visitors, but if she ignored the door, that probably wouldn't go over well either.
So she did the smart thing. She shoved her hand behind her back, moved to the door, and opened it just a tiny bit to see who was there. When she saw Gawain's face, she promptly shut it again.
"Not a good time!" She stammered, and glared at the mirror across the room as if it was its idea. Not that the mirror was really what she was angry at. Rather, the echoes that seemed to hang around it. The last thing she needed was Gawain to find out she busted her hand on a vase in a temper tantrum. The last thing she needed was for him to ask 'why'. She clenched her fist tighter and yelped slightly as the glass dug in more.
Gawain flinched as the door was shut in his face. Okay, so she was still pissed. Obviously, girls said stiff like that when they were pissed. What else could she be doing in there that would make this time of the morning not convenient?... ... ... Oh no, that man would be so dead.
"Come on Eve" Gawain sighed, then looked around. He was not going to do this in the school hallway. Screw it. He did the only logical thing: he walked into her mirror.
"Look, I just wanted to... Eve? Why am I lookin' at the wall?..."
Okay. So she was maybe more pissed than he thought.

Evelyn jumped again when his voice moved from outside the door to her mirror. Suddenly, she felt rather glad she had moved it. It gave her time to panic and try to cover up her hand. "I told you, I don't exactly get along with mirrors, ok? We had a disagreement. The mirror and I. Not you, Mirror, but the... oh--" She cussed under her breathe and started scrambling through drawers for a piece of cloth or something.
"What are you doing here anyway? Shouldn't you be--" For once, she bit her tongue. She wasn't even going to acknowledge the woman that was brought back here yesterday. That started the echoes, which still commented on her behavior everytime she walked by her reflection. Sure, the big mirror was turned around, but there was still smaller reflective surfaces like the screen of her cell phone, which she threw on the des--

Well, they did have a disagreement.
Momentarily disoriented by the missing mirror, Gawain moved around and caught a glimpse into the room.
"Oh come on" he grumbled at her from the phone screen "I'm tryin' to apologize y'know... would you at least stop moving around for a second?"
What was she doing, anyway? He only saw the while hair and glimpses of red cheeks.

Evelyn felt trapped. Gawain was determined to talk to her, and now he was in her cell phone screen to do it. Lovely. And the longer she tried to avoid him, the more he hand would bleed and that would just make a bigger mess of everything. As if the broken vase by the mirror wasn't a large enough problem. In the end she stopped moving, cut hand clasped in the other. The little shards of vase pricked at her skin, but she ignored it for the moment.
"I...appreciate that you came to try and apologize, I just..." She just what? She was injured and should probably get a bandage for it? She was still hurt and what he said before? She was jealous who he came back to the mansion with? The echoes didn't need a reflection to comment on her behavior at the moment. And she didn't need them to tell he was trying to be genuine about the apology.
"Can we just talk later? Like, even a few minutes when I'm cover in bl--" She bit her tongue, but couldn't quite cut off her runaway mouth. She considered just scrambling for the door before Gawain could stop being polite and let himself the rest of the way into the room.
>>"I...appreciate that you came to try and apologize, I just... Can we just talk later? Like, even a few minutes when I'm cover in bl--"
"Covered in what now?" Gawain fidgeted in the phone screen, getting more and more nervous about the whole situation. Talk about awkward. Talk about painfully, awfully awkward.
"All right, this is ridiculous" he grunted finally and stepped out of the screen "Look, Eve, I know you probably don't even wanna see my face right now but really gotta say WHAT THE HELL happened to your hand?!"

Evelyn was trapped between too many mirror and no where to run, and then Gawain was in her room, staring at her injured hand and asking that dumb little question she didn't want to answer. It was a worse case scenario as far as she was concerned as she shoved her hand behind her back and looked away from him, cheeks burning crimson. She could have kept her mouth shut and ignored his question, but her emotions were such a tangled mess it all came tumbling out against her will.
"It's fine, I was just... disagreeing with my echoes and they disagreed right into my hand." She glanced at the mirror and the broken vase. Perhaps it was an understatement, which made her face turn even pinker. "I saw you, and her, and then they wouldn't shut up and I got mad at them, which meant I was mad at the mirror, but didn't want to hit it because if you happened to be in one somewhere then I could have--but then I hit the vase and --I'm not jealous!" She snarled at the echoes, which momentarily meant she was standing in the middle of her room, talking to herself.
Great. Now she looked like a nutcase. Can this day get ANY worse...
She squinted her eyes shut and bit her lip, trying not to cry. Her hand hurt, and her heart hurt, and everything during the riot was just blowing up in her face. It didn't help she never slept, which made everything seem twice as dramatic. Why did he care what happened to her hand? Why did she care what he thought?
>>"It's fine, I was just... disagreeing with my echoes and they disagreed right into my hand. Gawain, probably for the first time in Evelyn history, was stunned silent. He just stood in the middle of the room, wide-eyed, staring at her. Like an idiot.
The whole thing, together with how fast she talked, just refused to compute in his head. She broke a vase. She wanted to break a mirror. Because she saw him with...
There were so many things to say.
"This is you not jealous?!" he blinked, more than a little bewildered, and then instantly regretted it, looking at her face.
Say something. Say something else.
"Um." he took a hesitant step forward "Let me see your hand."

He didn't talk. At least normally he would have just yelled at her or criticized her for doing something dumb, but he just kept staring in silence. Then when he did speak, she wished he hadn't.
"This is you not jealous?!"
She wished she had left the room when she had a chance. Tears pricked her eyes, and she blinked to try to keep them from forming, face burning as she clamped her mouth shut. She was done explaining. But when he asked to see her hand, she slowly removed it from behind her back and held it out so he could see. Little bits of glass still stuck to her skin, and while it was bleeding quite a bit it wouldn't do any lasting damage. It was a good thing too; she was right handed, and if she busted her drawing hand that would just make this more miserable.
"I was...looking for tweezers or something to get the glass out." She murmured quietly. She stared at the carpet. The carpet was suddenly very interesting to her. The echoes, on the other hand, kept paying attention to Gawain.
Gawain frowned as he stepped closer and took a look at the extended hand. Evelyn was right-handed, obviously, since she used that hand to almost-punch a mirror. Gawain was somewhat an expert on broken glass injuries. She would probably need to go to DocProf with that.
Then again, it was bad enough that he barged in. DocProf's attitude was probably the last thing she needed right now.
"All right, c'mon." he muttered, walking past her to the bathroom and flicking on the light "Gotta get the shards out first."

Evelyn nodded slowly, and followed him into the bathroom. The echoes still caught the subtle shifts in Gawain's facial expressions, and she figured it must have been fairly bad considering his reaction. He didn't drag her to the DocProf though, which was a relief. The last thing she wanted was to deal with someone else's judgement filled glares. Mirror's were enough. The only good thing was at least Gawain saw her hand now rather than questioning it later. Somehow, her injuries always brought a volatile reaction from the mirror-walker.
She didn't let the echoes linger on that thought long. "There might be tweezers in one of the drawers." She remarked quietly, and shuffled in place.
>>"There might be tweezers in one of the drawers."
"There's first aid kits in every bathroom" Gawain said, looking back at her from the bathroom door, before he ducked in and rummaged in the cupboard under the sink. The Mansion was a high-standard school and home, and as such, prepared for kids hurting themselves all over the place, with or without mutations. Can't go to the healer with every nosebleed...
"There" he said after a few minutes. The first aid kit was open next to the sink and rummaged through "Tweezers."

Evelyn felt silly she hadn't found the first-aid kit already, but she hadn't thought to explore the cupboards in the bathroom. Since it was a guest room, she figured it would be empty like the rest of the drawers. It was a little ego blow for a girl with hyper awareness to miss something though. Once Gawain was out of the way, she shifted to the sink and turned on the water, carefully running a bit of it over her hand so there was less blood in the way. The echoes pointed out a few of the larger pieces, and a few of the smaller shards already washed down the sink.
"So...you wanted to talk..." She said quietly, trying to shift her arm so she could see the glass better. She considered asking him to help, but the idea made her cheeks warmer and she wondered if she could just fiddle with the tweezers herself. She wasn't great left handed, but she might be able to at least remove the glass.
