The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Spring was far more friendly upon the handicap persons in NYC, and granted anywhere in general. With no more months of fighting sidewalk salt and slush sprays of taxi cars, it was worth running his chair to the ground on its charge with a trip to the museums of the city. It was a geeky thing to do, but well worth it in the end. Getting up and about doing something other then getting a suntan from his TV (which did give him a nice blue tan at night), and away from the office, it was totally worth hitting up the museums. Plus the gift shops in them sometimes had cool things, like his recent purchase.
Sitting in his electric chair at the top of the ramp, Jasper pulled out an ocarina from the gift store bag and held it up in the air with both hands making a triangle out of his body. "Da da da Daaaaaa!" It was official, he had acquired the ocarina of time...in a non-official Nintendo way. The purchase certainly didn't look like the image he had seen on his TV screen one to many times, but it did have the right amount of holes in it. Lowering the overpriced piece of pottery, he put the blowhole to his lips and started to bounce in his chair slightly while pretending he was the new Hyrule rockstar.
Polluting the air with a racket of noise. He pulled the instrument away from his lips and looked out into his kingdom. There certainly were no horses running to him, nor did he change night to day or day to night. Slighlty disappointed, he gave a slight sigh. Pushing the lever on the chair forward, his decent down the ramp began. Apparently his trip into the museum was not enough time away from his gaming systems. Once down the ramp, Jasper gave it another glow. Stumbling his way through the notes, he finally was able to knock out the beginning notes for the classic love ballad of Hyrule, Epona's Song. Chicks loved horses, and being able to play a song that could summon a horse had to be a huge turn on. Granted he was in a relationship, that didn't matter, the desert table was always something someone could appreciate even if on a diet. Maybe if he was lucky he could summon the bus with his call. Buses were the real world horse.....
Evelyn had spent most of the morning wandering around one of her favorite museums, which had been uneventful, at best. Since she practically memorized most of the pieces, the echoes she was listening to were pretty much that: just echoes. There were a few different people wandering around, but nothing really interesting to catch her attention. So, she finally decided to start for home, opting out of calling Jensen and just starting towards the subway.
That was before the racket started.
The first squeaks and rough attempts at music were painful, at best. They got a bit better by the time she was making her way down the stairs and coming up behind the musician. Her echoes scrambled to pinpoint where the music came from, and finally she had the melody set in her head. [Epona's Song. Legend of Zelda.] they chimed in, and proceeded to give her the instructions on the proper melody. It had been a long time since she managed to play part of the game in the mall when she was younger. That was before her family managed to convince her to pursue more... cultured things.
But I guess the lovely thing about never forgetting was you could pull up a memory years down the road. "You need to lift your pinky on that last note. It's a little flat." Evelyn remarked coming along side the stranger. She pushed her hair from her face and glanced at his instrument. It was one of the pieces they sold at the gift shop, which always seemed to be on the flat side anyway when you purchased one. She didn't bother much with gift store pieces anymore. She had her own instruments at home to play if she wanted.
With each try the song was getting closer to what it should be. Granted at times the melody just didn't have the right pitch, he couldn't figure out what to do. Settling for what he could, Jasper was having a major nerd geek moment. After finishing another round of the tune, the video game guru found himself being instructed on how to play his game peice.
"My pinky you say....or do you mean my c button?" With a bit of a laugh, Jasper lowered his gift shop purchase and held out a hand. "Name is Link, and you must be Epona." With a wink and a laugh, Jasper turned his chair a bit to have a better view.
"You know any other diddies?" Holding out the instrument he leaned over the one side of his chair. "You know it's a lot easier with a keypad. These thumbs can make video game history here." Okay so he was being a bit of a geek, but how often did girls come up to a guy in a wheelchair let alone one playing video game tunes on a cheap toy.
Evelyn blinked slightly, and tilted her head to the side. Admittedly, she had spent little time around gamers, and while she had played a game or two she was not quite prepared for the general enthusiasm this stranger seemed to have for the melody. Her expression was one of curiosity, however. Evelyn always enjoyed learning about new cultures, and the video game realm was certainly one she was less familiar with.
[C button. In reference to video game controller for popular gaming system.] For once, she was glad her echoes were there to save her from looking like a total space cadet.
"Unfortunately, as lovely of a name as Epona is, I do have a certain fondness for my own. I'm Evelyn." She said, accepting the hand and shaking it. Before she could start back on her way to the subway, however, he was speaking again. She tilted her head, and chuckled slightly. "I'm afraid I don't know many off the top of my head. My parents seemed to think classical music and museums were more appropriate things for me to be involved than video games. But I do remember that one. Some day I'd like to play it again." She admitted with a soft smile.
"Evelyn, what a pleasure to meet you then. I really am Jasper, but I admit I would give up the ability to walk to be Link." With a bit of a laugh, the young man slapped his thigh. "Still waiting to become the hero of Hyrule." Wiggling the ocarina in the air he gave a bit of a smile. "Guess it comes down to waiting for Halloween next year or cosplay." With a bit of a shrug of his shoulders, Jasper looked over his shoulders and the building behind him. She was one of those kids who got dragged along to museums all the time, and had to listen to classical music.....poor girl.
"Oh. Classical music. Well the Final Fantasy games have an almost classical element to it. I can't play that stuff on this at all, but I have one of the songs as my ringtone for people I don't have their number for. Makes telemarketer calls more pleasant." Reaching behind his back, Jasper was on a hunt to fetch his magic warp whistle, or more specifically his cell phone.
"If you want, you could always come over to my place to get some real gaming on. Only down side to the Link games are the lack of it being two player. Well there is the one, but its really not all that great. Some games just work better if it isn't a multiplayer."
Evelyn felt a smile tug at the corner of her mouth, but to be honest, she wasn't quite sure what to make of this stranger. Jasper was outgoing, and seemed perfectly happy to start talking to a complete stranger. He had a level of confidence that was rare, and the echoes didn't have to work hard to learn much about him. She was a bit careful not to stare though. She had a habit of offending people easily, and the last thing she wanted him to think was she was staring at his chair while the echoes were distracted by one thing or another. Then again, he joked about it so he seemed comfortable with his situation.
"Maybe there will be a convention or something you can wear the outfit for. I am not as familiar with fandom cultures as I could be, but I've seen people dressed up from time to time for events..." She pushed her hair from her face, and glanced up, skimming for a clock. She could talk a bit longer, but she also didn't want to make Jensen worry.
"Final Fantasy... that one I'm not as familiar with but I'll take your word for it." He was already hunting for his phone and she had a little trouble keeping up with his enthusiasm. But she didn't mind it much. She probably acted similarly when she was in the museum, after all.
"As fun as that sounds, I have a rather tight...curfew. My handler will come hunt me down if I stay out too late. I have enough difficultly convincing him to let me take the subway home." She felt a little awkward mentioning her bodyguard, but it was a reality she had to deal with for the moment. Until her parents felt it was unnecessary, it was his job to keep her out of trouble. Even from gamers armed with ocarinas.
Armed with his cellphone now, Jasper started navigating his way through the meanies until he found what he was looking for. With a few more swipes and a push of a button, Gau's theme began playing. "Oh, we'll we could make it a day thing. So you don't have to worry about a curfew or anything. " With a bit of a pause, he gave it some consideration. "Why not bring your handler with you? I could always just chill in my chariot here, give the best seats in the house to you two."
Handler? From the use of it, it almost made her seem like she was an animal of sorts. Looking at her for a moment he couldn't help but laugh. "Good joke there. Me calling you a horse and you saying you have a handler. All you had to say was you have a boyfriend. No worries about that. I have a girlfriend as well, so I'm safe. Just look at me, it's not like I'm exactly a high catch item here."

Evelyn blinked. The guy was energetic, and she wasn't quite sure whether to consider him forward or just overly friendly. She pushed her hair from her face and stopped the echoes from analyzing the situation too much. Then she blushed at little when he laughed about her handler.
"Oh, Jensen's not a boyfriend. He's really a handler. Like, a bodyguard, escort, parental figure all sort of mashed into one. He's been working for my family for longer than I can remember, and my family hasn't quite caught the memo that I'm old enough to not need someone hovering around 24/7..." Handler...horse. She wasn't sure whether to laugh or feel embarrassed at the image. She ended up somewhere in the middle.
"It does sound fun though, I don't spend much time anywhere other than museums anyway." She tried to remedy the situation before it felt awkward. Maybe it was just her feeling that way though. She never was good at talking to guys, and having a bodyguard around never made it easier. She resisted glancing at her watch. She was socially awkward to a fault and didn't quite know how to deal with someone so outgoing.
"Jensen. Sounds like a good name for a Pokemon trainer, or a rival for Pokemon." Tapping his chin for a moment, Jasper gave a little shoulder dance for the moment. "Guy sounds like a real kill joy at the moment. Bet he has big guns. Does he do the whole gun show, and beach lines?" Flexing his wheelchair arm muscles, he pointed to the street. "I believe the beach is that way." With a laugh at himself, he gave his knee a light slap."Yeah, I know, its more impressive if there is actually something there to show off. To bad I can't do that with my fingers. I swear these puppies are the fittest fingers you'll ever see. Very dexterous thumbs."
Giving a look around, he soon was leaning on one side of his wheelchair. "So I don't see anyone looking for you. Do you want to hit up the arcade down the street. I'll race you on Manx Super Bike. Heck, I'll even give you a head start." Giving a bit of a head nod, he smiled a bit. "Sure ain't the same as Epona, but its not half bad. Loser gravels to your handler for more quarters to keep playing."
Without the echoes, Evelyn was quite certain she would have had trouble keeping up with Jasper. He was friendly, and outgoing, but for the socially awkward female he was a little over the top. Her smiles and laughter kept feeling delayed, and she worried he would eventually get offended by his behavior. But somehow, he managed to keep smiling. He was laughing enough for the both of them. She smiled, regardless, and shook her head slowly. "I can't say I've ever seen Jensen do that. I think he was always a fan of using real guns over his arms. Maybe you can challenge him to an arm wrestle sometime though." She pushed her hair from her face and shook her head as he remarked about his thumbs. Most people didn't brag about finger dexterity, but he didn't seem to be most people.
The offer to visit the arcade had her considering. She glanced down at her watch, considered the time, then felt herself slowly give a nod. "You know, I think I can take you up on that. I haven't visited the arcade, and I'm always up for trying something new. Not sure how good I'll be but hopefully it'll be entertaining one way or the other." She shrugged, and gave a slight smile.
"Well then, it looks like we are going to the arcade." Clapping his hands together, there was nothing going to stop him from exercising his skills of technology in the form of thumb gymnastics. "Hey I got an idea, why don't you hop on. I got enough juice in this steed to cart us both. Plus they don't have Zelda games there so no riding Epona today." Patting the sides of his wheelchair, Jasper gave a bit of a grin. "Hey we could always call this set of wheels Epona too."
Adjusting in the chair, he took hold of the controls and was ready to roll. It wasn't every day that he was able to find someone to go with him to the arcade. Sure it was an easy thing to do when he was ten years younger, but something about grown men going in places like that just was a major turn off on friends and such. "So, what kind of games do you like? Are you more of a logic, smash and bash...." Stopping himself, the young man started to laugh at himself. "Maybe I should just wait till we get there, see what machine speaks to you. Oh and if Jensen finds us, we can have that arm wrestle for more coins and stuff for video game. OH or we could buy pizza. Do you like pizza? If you don't we can always pick up something else. I think they have pizza at this place down the road....I just get in this zone and forget whats around me at times."
Evelyn blinked quickly at his suggestion, and then gave a quick and slightly embarrassed shake of her head. "Oh, I'm fine walking. I actually rather prefer having both feet on the ground. Thanks for the offer though." She was starting to feel less worried about offending her companion though. He seemed like he was in far too good of spirits to be discouraged at this point.
It seemed that much more evident as he continued talking about the arcade and pizza. The echoes flickered and picked out the questions as she followed along beside him. "Pizza is always nice. I don't eat it a lot but I enjoy it. And I really don't know what games I'd like... I'd have to try something first..." She wondered what she was getting herself into at this point. She glanced at the clock on her phone and wondered how long she could let this adventure go before her handler came looking for her.
And now she was always going to feel like a horse when she said that. Bodyguard...from now on, the man would just be a bodyguard...
