The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tses had that deer in the headlights feeling again as his gaze intensified, and she didn't know how to respond. The word us was such a touchy one for her, with so many connotations she didn't know what it meant. She wanted to feel the same way, and really wanted to believe in this. But there was that doubt in her gut that floated around in her head and lied to her. Relationships just didn't work. No matter what type they were. They didn't keep her mother from dying, didn't keep her father from hurting her, didn't keep her sister from leaving her behind, and didn't keep her from being alone. How could he be there, when no one else would? How could he be different, when the world just wasn't that way. People left. They walked past you on the street, and they didn't look back. They left you in the cold, and didn't give you a chance. If she wanted to make it, she had to make it on her own. If she put her faith in someone, it was only going to pull her back, bring her down.
But...
She wanted to. She wanted to believe him. She wanted to let him care, let him help her... She wanted to go on dates, and have fun, and laugh. She never laughed like she did when she was with him. Never smiled. Now that she was with him, she couldn't imagine being without him. His smirk, and his red hair, and his puppy dog face and stuffed tiger. It made her feel alive again; made her feel human. Could she give all that up? Walk away, let it go? Could she pretend none of it ever happened? She felt the cold metal of the necklace he gave her on her neck, and the soft fabric of the tiger on her bed. It was different, and strange, and new, but... somewhere inside her, she knew the answer.
No.
She couldn't move on. She couldn't let him go, and she couldn't just pretend she didn't feel things for him. Maybe she couldn't change all at once, but she could try. Little by little, she could chip away and find someone underneath all her barriers, and let him be there. "I am willing to try, to work out, whatever we have.... You know that question I asked, about what you thought I was?" She watched his reaction to see if he remembered, and judged to see if he knew where she was going.

Ty's gaze stayed the same, focused on her. He didn't know what was going through her head, but his own thoughts were hopeful. He wanted more than anything to make this work. To be with her. To be able to surely say, if only to himself, "Hey, that's my girl." He wanted to go on dates and have fun. He never trusted anyone else this much.
"Good...I'm willing to work, to. And..." He paused at her question. "You mean if I saw you as my girlfriend? I do, to avoid dodging the question or loading the answer. I was just afraid you didn't see me the same way. Then I might come across as a creep or a loser..." His gaze softened. "Why?"
Tses glanced back down, and fiddled with the blanket. Her moment of courage was rapidly fading, and she had trouble following through with this decision, but knew if she didn't, she would regret it. She looked back up into his eyes, and felt her cheeks turn a little crimson but forced herself to keep the eye contact at least until she said what she needed to. "I don't mind if you do. I mean, I don't think any less of you for it..." She muttered, getting shy again and glancing away, then looking back and watching his reaction. "I almost kinda like knowing you see me as your girlfriend, that is..." The sentence sounded awkward, but she got herself to say it, and hoped he got her meaning.
She slowly set her hand back on his, intertwining their fingers, and gave him a little smile. It was a slightly crooked smile, tilted a bit too much to one side over the other, but it was cute in her odd sort of way, much like the rest of her. She wasn't quite perfect, a little bit crazy, and definitely had a temper that got away with her. But there was a little side tucked somewhere that had the little girlish side that almost got away. Who knows, maybe some day that side would show itself enough she'd get to wear those clothes Chrys had forced her to wear the other day...

Ty gave a smile at her words, it was all he needed. Sure, her smile was crooked, but it was cute because he knew she meant it. And as he felt her hand on his, he also felt the sensation of butterflies in his stomach. They were an odd sort of couple, but now it was official. Despite the fact that they were in a hospital, it was a somewhat cute moment.
Though it was sort of new seeing her like this; shy, yet sweet. "I'm glad you do," he said softly, making sure no nurses were making their way in, despite what time it was. The day had been long, crazy, but the way it was ending turned out okay. Just earlier he'd feared she would be going to jail and he wouldn't see her for a long time. And now, as they sat on a hospital bed, she'd done the closest thing to telling him that she was his.
As their blue eyes met, he didn't know what to say or do right now. His next statement came out sort of awkward. "So...it's getting late. How do you wanna go about sleeping? Should I get my chair back or can I stay right here?"
The question took her a bit off guard. She glanced for a window to see how late it was, but there wasn't one here. Not that it mattered, really. She was completely exhausted now, and sleep sounded nice. But the question, as awkward as it came out, took her a few seconds to process. For some reason she hadn't expect him to stay through the night, but then again, knowing him, why wouldn't he? She glanced at him, and listened to the feelings churn inside her; this time, pushing side the side afraid to be close, while the fear to be alone one over. She wasn't going to push him away right now. He was the only thing keeping her sane.
She moved her way closer and let go of his left hand, wiggled herself into the curve of his arm then reached across herself and reclaimed it. She flinched slightly as her shoulder touched him, but once she was settled, the throb went away. With the movement, she had put herself into a hug, and she closed her eyes, settling against him. "Just stay... I...I need you here to help me through this." In a way, she felt she needed him more than just to get through her fears of the hospital. She needed him to help her through the fears of being a couple as well.

Ty leaned into the hug a bit, smiling at her answer. She needed him. Those words made him feel like the most special person on earth. She needed him. "I'm not going anywhere," was his soft reply. He held her close, letting out a tired yawn.
"I think its about time to crash," he said, looking at her sleepily.
Tses nodded, but didn't open her eyes. She didn't realize how sleepy she was until now, and was already starting to crash. Sounds kept getting more distant, and her mind flickered with black and white and small glimmers of light from the room. Her motor skills were going to sleep first, and were quickly going to be followed by her thoughts as sleep claimed them.
"There is a pillow on the base of the bed there. You can use that if you want." She murmured sleepily, fidgeting a little to get just the right spot the lean on, and pulling the blanket tighter.

Ty gave a nod, grabbing the pillow while disturbing her as little as possible, noting how she seemed to be falling asleep on him. Putting the pillow on the head of the bed behind him, he lay back, gently and carefully taking her with him as a result. After which, it got quiet.
He put his gloves on, just in case his power decided it might want to work again. The redhead was pretty sure that this wasn't exactly protocol or orthodox, but...he was too tired--and too Ty--to care. His eyes drifted closed, a small smile on his face. He was, for the first time in a long time, really at peace.
As he settled in, Tses nested her head against his chest, and her shoulder only gave the occasional throb to bother her. The smell of his shirt was nice to her, and she could just barely hear his heartbeat under her ear, and feel him breathe. It was strange to, having him here. The noises of the hospital didn't sound so loud, and his arms made her feel secure. Through the blanket, she could feel his arm across her, and it felt protective; someone was watching over her.
When she went out this morning, she didn't expect any of this to happen. The break in, the police, the gunfire, the pain; none of that seemed to suggest anything good would come of it. Then waking up and finding Ty there, she felt relieved. She liked having him around, and didn't want the moment to end. But she doubted once they got out of here she'd be as open to this type of contact, at least... not for awhile. Her emotions swung around like a pinball; and he was just there: waiting. He talked about going on a date to the movies, and he went through all these plans trying to work out their dysfunctional relationship. Rather, they had a relationship, and she was the dysfunction. She hoped he realized what he was getting into dating her. Because she didn't know how she would be once she was free from this room.
Her thoughts slowed as her heart beat did, and gradually she surrendered to the captivity of sleep. Her dreams wandered somewhere without plot: just colors, and feelings, and the distant but comforting presence of someone she'd grown rather fond of.

Ty's eyes slowly opened as his senses picked up sounds, smells, and feelings he wasn't quite used to waking up to. When everything came into focus, he picked up the morning traffic of the hospital, the sounds of Tses's monitors, and the like. The man had no idea what time it was, except that it was likely still early.
"Mmmm...disinfectant and hospital food..." he grumbled about the two dominant smells. "Lovely combination..." Looking down, Tses was still snuggled against his chest, and he noticed sometime during the night, he'd slipped his jacket off and pushed it off onto the floor in his sleep. His tee shirt was a basic black one with white writing that said: Some Days You're the Pigeon, and others, the statue.
He looked down at Tses, smiling. She was so sweet-looking like that. But he knew once outside the walls of the hospital, once things were back to normal, she wouldn't always be like that. He knew full well what lay on the surface, but he didn't care. He meant it when he'd told her the good times were well worth what he went through to get to them. His hand ran through her hair as he looked up at the ceiling.
No matter what, one thing rang true: She was his girlfriend. He'd managed to overcome the walls, at least for now. But though he was hopeful and optimistic, only time would really tell.
Strange sounds filled Tses's head when she started to wake; shuffling feet, beeping, murmuring voices and distant crying. It confused her; normally the only sounds she heard in the morning were cats mewing and cars distantly driving past, but this was different. Slowly, the events from the day before drifted through her head, along with the very sharp throbbing pain from her shoulder. She grunted, sitting up and nearly hit her head against Ty's chin.
"What the..." She ducked and scooted sideways, squinting slightly at him, then her face went red and she skittered away slightly, heart pounding her her chest. Ok, most of the days event came back to her. She forgot that whole, cuddling thing that happened. She glanced at Ty, and tried to flatten her hair with her hand, murmuring nervously. "Oh, right. Morning..." She said, embarrassed. With a little cough she glanced around the room groggily then fiddled with the blankets. Slightly tangled in the linens was the tiger, eyes staring up at her accusingly.
"Don't look at me like that..." She growled to it, desperately trying to figure out if this was going to haunt her in the near future. She glanced from the tiger to him, and her face got redder.

"Morning," he said, just as groggily, stopping his play with her hair as she moved. However, he didn't blush at her reaction. In fact, he was quite happy with how the day had ended. The beginning sucked, but the end and parts of the middle were quite great in his book.
He stood up, stretching as several joints and bones cracked, as was his morning ritual. His hair was a mess, and he used his hands to straighten out his shirt before draping his jacket on the back of the chair.
"Mmm....I smell breakfast. Hospital food or not ya think the nurse might bring me some too?" he asked, though Tses hadn't seemed to have even gotten hers yet. But then a more important thought came to mind. Hopefully, she'd be out of here soon.
Thankfully, Ty didn't seemed offended by her actions, and was more distracted by the concept of food. While he was asking about coffee, however, the nurse from the day before walked in, and she gave a nod of her head back towards the door. "There is coffee in the waiting room if you need some. Although, hopefully we can get Tses here discharged so you can have a real breakfast." To Tses's surprise, the girl had a key in her hand, and took the cuffs off her ankle. She gave the tiniest little smile, then looked back at her clipboard.
"We're having a busy morning, so the quicker we can free up some rooms, the better. You seem to be doing well enough you're one of the first we're moving out." She said it in an official manner, and Tses tried not to over-analyze things. Part of her suspected the hospital just didn't want to deal with a mutant right now when there were others needing care, and they didn't have the police to help stand guard. But at the moment, it didn't matter much to her. She just took advantage of it, stretched her legs out off the edge of the bed and let the cold air meet the areas of her skin not covered in bandages.
"If you want to get coffee you can, Fish." Tses said, glancing at him.

Ty nodded, but his focus moved again, this time to the words that Tses was about to be able to leave. He didn't analyze it in the least, but mostly because it was too early for that crap. He had to smile when she called him Fish. He was still getting used to that again, but he liked it.
With a nod, he left the room, and soon came back with a piping hot cup of coffee. He took a sip, then sort of cringed. "Ugh...even hospital coffee tastes like crap....But ya take what you can get..." he muttered, taking another sip, followed by another cringe. All he could do now was sit and wait for them to get everything situated before she left. That and try his best to muscle down this ass-tasting coffee....
"So....we heading to your apartment from here?" he asked, wondering how she felt about that now, since the whole incident yesterday. He himself knew he'd never see it the same...
While Ty was gone, the nurse took the opportunity to redo Tses's shoulder bandage one last time. They did well, for the most part, and Tses only took one swipe at her before regretting it when it only made her shoulder hurt worse. Her feet, if anything, were the most painful thing to have cleaned, the nerves sending jolts of pain all the way up her legs. Her shin, which they worried was sprained, had lost most of the swelling, and now just had heavy bruising. But as long as she wasn't jumping off buildings or anything, the nurse thought she would be fine. Tses almost groaned though. Jumping off buildings was sort of a daily activity for her.
By the time Ty was back, Tses was trying to finish up some paperwork, which was hard for her considering she didn't know any of the necessary information. Social security? Nada. Insurance? Nada. Employer? Nada. Address? None of your business. The two were arguing slightly about the paperwork, when Ty returned. Tses paused long enough to give him a smile before returning her stubborn scowl to the nurse. "You can tell me it's protocol all you want, but if I don't know my information, I don't know it." She tried to cross her arms, but the sling made that impossible, so she just went back to scowling instead.
"If you need a follow up though, we need something to put your records under...."
"Put them under Jane Doe. I don't plan on coming back." Tses growled. The nurse looked exasperated, her nice personality slightly winded by Tses. As Ty asked about the apartment, Tses felt the color leave her face, then she quickly composed herself.
"Yeah, I'll have to fix that window though..." She sighed. The nurse finished scribbling something on her clipboard, muttering something about getting a wheelchair, and Tses nearly blew up in her face again. It was probably a good thing Ty had coffee... Getting out of here seemed impossible.
