The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

For days Meld had been walking around with a sense that something was wrong. Ever since she had seen the newscast of Predator being captured she had felt unseen eyes upon her, watching her every move, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Anyone else might have taken such thoughts to be mere paranoia, but Meld knew differently. The last time she had felt such a sense of anticipatory dread she had been attacked in Central Park and almost killed. That time she hadn't been expecting an attack, hadn't really done anything to precipitate it, at least not recently. Had she not paid attention to her instincts she might have been killed.
This time was different because this time she was fairly certain the reason for her sense of dread was the actions she had taken recently, allowing herself to be caught on camera more than once engaging in anti-human acts of violence. At least, she had a feeling she had been caught on camera more than once. The first time she was certain because it had been intentional. Her face had been masked but her metal limbs were still visible. She ended up on the news for the murder, alongside her friend Predator, of an anti-mutant SWAT member giving an anti-mutant speech. But then there was the bank heist and the jewelry store robbery, either on if which could have had security cameras that could have caught not only her mutations on camera but her face as well.
Even with her lack of proper precautions to avoid such things, Meld wasn't sure that the police would have had nearly the interest in her that she believed they had, had not Predator been tagged as a mutant terrorist. Her first and most obvious transgression had been made at his side and for that reason alone they were likely to paint her with the same brush that they had painted him: as someone involved in an all-mutant terrorist organization. Obviously complete nonsense both for her and for Predator, but the truth didn't matter to those sorts of people. They obviously needed scapegoats for everything that was wrong with society, most of which were human made problems, and her and her kind were easy targets. Not only were they the discriminated against minority, but Meld and Predator were both violent and unwilling to bow to the will of the majority. They stood up for what they believed, no matter its lack of popularity and for those reasons they had become targets.
Another individual, someone weaker and less confident than Meld, might have decided to stay within the safety of Santuary's walls until things had calmed down somewhat. No police officer, no matter how determined they were and how much of a threat they viewed Meld to be, would be stupid enough to try and breach Sanctuary's walls to try and get her, at least she assumed that none would. And even if someone was stupid enough, it wasn't as if they would survive the attempt. But Meld had never been the type to hide away like some coward afraid of her own shadow and so she found herself wandering around Times Square though she didn't have any particular goal in mind other than proving that she was not afraid to leave her place or residence.
Meld froze suddenly in her wanderings. Something wasn't right It hadn't been right for some time but now something definitely wasn't right. She couldn't put her finger on it, things just seemed to quiet, to controlled. Times square should be bustling with activity, 100 conversations going on around her but there just wasn't the usual amount of action going on around her. There weren't enough people around her.
Meld took a deep breath, trying to steady herself and walked, with as much calmness as she could muster, to the nearest building and placed her back protectively against it. It was evening, nearly night, and it seemed to her that the best way to make a stand, if it came to that, was to ensure that she could not be entirely surrounded. If she could protect herself until full nightfall she might be able to lose them on the rooftops otherwise...she refused to allow herself to contemplate the potential results of failure. Either death or capture, either of which was unacceptable. She had never been in prison before, despite her criminal history, and wasn't about to start now.
Just as Meld was beginning to relax, deciding that she had been wrong and the threat was only in her mind someone spoke. "This is the police. Put your hands wear we can see them your under arrest." She swore to herself and growled. Looking frantically around she spotted at least 3 cops and there were likely more. She was not about to allow herself be captured. Whatever the consequences.
Aras had been walked the streets of Times Square all day. He felt he had nowhere to go. His current situation was one that he felt was dull and without much activity. Sure, he had found a place to live temporarily, though as soon as his small amount of funds ran out it wouldn't be long until he was left searching again. He had been able to live by a church in order to attend daily services to God. As much as sin tempted him to, he remained pure-hearted in front of the Lord Almighty and refused all temptation to steal for more money to continue his life in the apartment he lived in. There was nothing worse than to disappoint the Lord, even if it meant losing the roof over your head. At the very least, God's creatures in Central Park would keep him company if he were to ever leave his home.
As he walked along the streets he noticed that the usual busyness and hustle of Times Square had been lowered. Perhaps there was something wrong with the people during this time of day? Was there some sort of virus going around? Was there something going on that he did not know about? It was a mystery for sure, yet it was not something so dire that Martyr would go around asking. He simply left it as a slow day and simply that. His journey was much more important anyway. With it getting to be late, he knew he should return home and prepare the nights dinner. Canned soup was always a particular sense of joy for Aras, so a sense of rushing to get home was on his mind at the moment.
That thought was lost however when he came across a woman leaning against the wall of a building. Aras' first sight was of her almost froze him in place. Her right arm was there yet not at the same time. Instead of the pinkish flesh and blood of any human, there instead lay a limb completely of metal. Aras almost stopped in place as he as well laid eyes on the hand of the woman's left arm. It was metal as well, fit with the claws only the work of the Devil could muster. Aras did not like the sight of her at all. Not solely due to her arms, though. Her face littered with the piercings of any 'punk' who chose to disobey God's will. Her hair spiked as one as well, with clothing one that was most impure.
He slowly walked by the woman, wondering if she caught glimpse of him as well. His urges torn on whether to confront the woman or not made Aras quite unsure. His excuse of trying to spread the teachings of the Lord out of nothing was not his job; he felt that only the angels in Heaven as well as God Himself were the ones that were given pure judgement rights on mortals such as the woman and himself. However, his excuse soon came as he heard the orders of what sounded like a police officer rang through Aras' ears. Turning, he saw indeed the blue uniforms of officers of N.Y.P.D. His attention drew to who they spoke to, leading his eyes to return to the same woman. While he was not one to judge, it seemed her wardrobe didn't really give off any vibe of the officers being wrong. Seeing his chance to stop and view the woman more closely he decided to turn and watch the scene unfold before him. he may be able to pray for this woman's soul for her sake.
His view of the woman did not seem too promising, though. Her cold face and green eyes gave off the impression of refusing the orders of the officers. His heart began to sink as his mind slowly doubted her good will. He hid behind the hood of his robe and watched the scene further on. Deep down in his mind he began to pray for the woman. Oh Father, please give this woman the strength to overcome her evil will. I can see it in her eyes, Father. The reek of Lucifer's torment. I pray to you, my Lord. Give her the strength of reason. Let her heart ring pure this time and let there be no resistance in her soul this day. While his mind traded thoughts with the Lord, his eyes watched on the woman. He hoped his prayer would be answered. He hoped her soul had not been cast down yet.

Back against a building, Meld mentally prepared herself for the fight to come. Not that she had a lot of time to prepare, but all she needed was a few calm even breaths to get her into the correct fighting state of mind. This would be a battle not only for her life but for her freedom as well. And more than that, it would be a battle for the rights of mutants everywhere because if she, a mutant freedom fighter, was to be captured she felt sure that she would be put on some sort of sick display for all the little humans to see. She would be their symbol of victory, their sign that they were right and that mutants were just as evil and unworthy as they had been saying for so long and Meld was damned if she was going to let that happen now or ever. But if she could somehow survive then perhaps she would be able to send an entirely different sort of message to the masses, a message that mutants were just as superior as she knew that they were. Suddenly she hoped that the media was somewhere nearby to catch this all on film. Failure was not an option.
Meld carefully schooled her body and face to look casual and non-threatening, putting her hands up in front of her face just as the cops had demanded, careful to ensure that her shield arm was slightly in front of her other arm in case the extra protection was needed. She had no weapons to conceal, after all, and she had the wall at her back still. Slowly and cautiously 2 cops approached her from the front and one more from the side, each of them with weapons pointed at her. Looking around she spotted 2 cop cars but no other other cops, although she was certain that they were out there, hiding. She did, however, notice a strange robed individual watching her with a rather intense look although given the present situation her vision skittered off of him almost as soon as it fell upon him. She had other, more important, things to deal with.
As the first two cops got within striking distance, Meld tensed, preparing to strike. Handgun bullets weren't much of a threat to her metal limbs but her flesh and blood parts were just as vulnerable to them as any human body and it was thus essential that she manage to get the first strike. If she could grab a cop in her claws she might be able to use him as a hostage and thus dissuade other cops from shooting at her. And if not then at least she would have one less cop to deal with.
Suddenly and with very little warning Meld struck. The first cop approached her, cuffs in hand and instead of letting him cuff her Meld leaped up and kicked him in the face. He fell to the ground in a heap, knocked unconscious when her titanium foot connected solidly with his chin. A fraction of a second later the second cop fired off two shots at Meld, both of which ricocheted off of her metal shield. Almost simultaneously she grabbed his wrist with her left hand, claws digging deeply into his fragile flesh, and sliced at his neck with her shield, almost severing it from his neck.
With Meld's back no longer protected by the wall the third cop took advantage and also shot her, connecting once just above the flesh meld on her left foot. Blood began to flow from the wound, although she didn't notice. With a yell she ran to confront the remaining cop and, now that Meld was facing him directly, his bullets ricocheted off of her shield. He screamed as meld grabbed him in her claws. She now had her hostage and she looked around, trying to spot where the other cops were hiding and where the best escape route lay.
Aras watched in a sight of relief when the woman put her arms up and allowed the cops to arrest her. God had touched her, it was surely true. He bowed his head and smiled as he felt the only job he had in this confrontation. Peace was kept and Lucifer's wrath was kept at bay. All was well in Times Square thanks to the love of God. With that thought, Aras quickly turned to return to his normal route back home. There was still canned soup left on his mind as his hunger had grown quite substantially.
The sudden screams of men behind him caused him to turn. His turn was in time to see the horror of an almost decapitation of one of the officers. The woman had not been swung to the way of the pure, she had plunged herself deeper and deeper into the sadistic grasp of Lucifer's nature. His eyes swelled with tears as he continued to watch the carnage take place in front of his eyes. The blood ran crimson along the sidewalk concrete as Aras looked down. How could this have happened? How could someone be so heartless and cruel? Was she a demon of Hell come to corrupt the world to Satan's ways? It would be the most logical explanation in his mind. It HAD to be true. This woman was no human at all.
Aras knew that he could not walk away after seeing this. He had to do something. He had to cleanse her sin and see if he could cast her to Hell. Yet, how could he accomplish such a task? Aras at first thought it impossible until he noticed the blood coming out of the back of the leg of the woman. She had been shot and injured. That was his plan. He had to get to that wound. His mind raced with ideas until it came up with a plan. Quickly he reached into his robe and tore out a strap from his under shirt. Pulling out out, he did a quick mental measurement and figured it would be good enough. Even if it wasn't it wouldn't matter anyway.
Martyr looked up and shouted to the woman. "Hey! You're hurt!" Aras quickly raised the white cloth in his hand up in the air to show no hostilities. "Please! Let me bandage you up from your injuries!" His gaze quickly traced to the cops who were looking at the both of them. He had no idea whether they would mistake him for an accomplice for this wicked woman; he only hoped his robe and cross would give the impression of good intentions. Same went for the woman. "I am only looking after your safety. Please, let me help you!" He stood still, not wanting the woman to charge after him. Please God, he prayed, let her mind accept my offer. Let me reach her so that I may cleanse her of her sins committed this hour. All he could do was to wait for a response.
Aura's aura blade came down and lodged itself in the shoulder bone of a police officer who had been trying to set up for somthing, the man cied out in pain and went for his Radio, but as his hand touched the butoon, a hammer permenently merged his hand with his rado and his chest. The pain made his eyes roll back and he slid down the wall slowly. She had found him from behind, so his gun was still in it's holster and Aura added a third shiny police revolver to her collection, this one had a diffrent barrel however, it was longer, way longer, Aura decided then their was no way this was the same type as what she had previously. Not knowing guns Aura was still able to gather these guys were hunting somthing bigger then normal, therwise their would be no point in carrying such a bulky weapon. Leaning down she realized he had a lot of equpiment on him and her hand bag would never carrey it all. So She quickly Undid his Belt bashing him in the top of his head when he started to moan, blood pooling from the top.
She had to make an extra hole or two but the belt still fit a bit loose. Aura decided to take the fire escape and useing the officer as a stool she got herself onto it and began to climb up though she made a bit of noise doing so. As she emerged at the top she was suprised to see to officers talking to their radios over looking times square. Aura pointed her new weapon at them, she fired and the recoil threw her back aginst a cold air return duct, but the shot for once hit home, burying itself in the left side of the mans, Skull, just as screaming and yelling became pronounced somwhare nearby, His partner whirled to look, a bit starteled by the sidden noise behind him. Aura was already running forward and before the man could aim, Aura simply pushed him, the man fell two stories, and hit ith a thud in the alleyway the biggest sound came from his body hitting the metal trash can. Aura was surprised the man had not fired, surprised still on his face, Aura shrugged and walked to the oposite side of the building, seeing Meld already fighting police, she swore, from her vantage point their were a good number of them spread out in the alleys and even a few cars just out of view from ground level. Aura needed somthing to take the attention from Meld.
Smiling she dragged the first officer now pretty much headless to the edge of the building in plain sight, While she did her hand was buried in the mans chest, only useing her Aura to make the entry, she felt her fingers grab their prise, yanking back quickly the still heart was in her Hand, letting th man hang on the ledge, Aura stood on it and smiled, ripping a chuck of the heart Away with her teeth and swollowing it. Taking another bite she leapt off the building onto a fourth police officer who had just emerged from hiding, the heart sdangeling from her teeth, Aura ahmmer took the momentum of her fall and its natural strength and shatterd the man's skull like a watermelon. Spitting out the bloody heart Aura looked a bit like the young woman she was making a grosed out looking face. "Solkat, i never did understand your love of human organs" she said shaking her head having watched the womans hobby of dining on their various organs. A Gun in her free hand, she fires until it's six round chamber was empty, putting a few shots into the alley way's she wnated two the other four, peirced store windows and a manakin died, the shot through her chest.
"The Animals have grown brave today" she said to meld and then Aura adressed the officers smiling her teeth stained with blood, "You better hope you win, becuse if you don't i'll mail your familys your skulls, with your badges englraved into them" Aura said, a lie of course, their was never a need to waste perfectly good, building material, assuming it survived the procurement process and was good enough to be used. Also she really had no idea how mail worked anyway, she knew it came to the front door and somone was sending it though. The officers seemed to hesitate their quary had doubled. She became aware of a raving man that seemed to wnat to help Meld, noticeing him more as she backed up by Meld. "Forgive me, kind Healer man, but im not so sure this is the time, for wrapping wounds, they are trying to shoot at us" she said as a bullet, bounced off her aura and burying itself in a brick wall. After the fight would be far better of a time. "By the Goddess Alaira, our blades shall win this night" she said an old saying she had been tought by miracle, its meaning was victory or death.

Meld looked at the robed stranger in confusing at his words about her being hurt then did a quick visual look over herself, finally discovering that there was blood flowing out of her leg. By the looks of it the damage was fairly significant and the blood loss had the potential to become a problem, not the mention she didn't exactly like the idea of her leg giving out on her when she most needed it. Something told her that this time escape wouldn't' be as easy as it had been in the past. "If we get out of this alive and free I'll be happy to let you bandage me up," Meld yelled to the stranger, "but something tells me the police aren't going to be accommodating enough to let you bandage me up just this moment."
Meld suddenly became aware that Aura was near and taking out cops alongside her. The odds of victory had suddenly improved immensely. "Shall we prove to them exactly why mutants are the superior race?" Meld asked Aura with a sadistic grin. Injured or not, she was suddenly feeling a lot better about her present predicament. She and Aura had fought and worked together numerous times before and she could not think of anyone she would rather have fighting at her side than Aura. Although the younger girl was even more violent than Meld, the two of the shared an ideology and a love and respect for their people. Not only that, but both liked a good fight.
"This should be fun." Glancing around Meld spotted 4 other cops nearby, conversing, probably planning their next move. She doubted they had expected her to have reinforcements. Meld took that moment to back up against the wall one more time. Ignoring her injury, which was not difficult seeing as how she couldn't even feel her injury, she considered her situation and how best to proceed. She had no idea how many officers were around or where they were hiding. Their best bet was probably to deal with the most obvious threat and then take to the rooftops. She knew that she and Aura would be able to make it up there without difficulty but she doubted the humans would be able to follow. There was that strange individual who had offered to bandage her wound, however, and if he was a mutant also that might complicate matters. "You!" she yelled at the stranger. "Are you mutant or human?" No time to be more diplomatic about the question.
Before the boy had a chance to answer the 4 cops Meld had spotted made their move. They spread out in front of her and Aura, two coming from roughly in front of them and the other two coming from either side. It was fortunate that she had managed to get a building to her back otherwise they would have been in serious trouble. Bullets came from the two in front of them and she spotted what she thought might be a tazer in the hands of one of the others. She didn't see what weapon the fourth was carrying. The two with the guns stopped some distance off and continued firing while the other two continued their approach. Meld did her best to hide behind her shield in order to block the incoming bullets. She couldn't afford to be hit a second time. She poised herself for an attack as soon as the other two got close enough.
Martyr's stomach churned at the arrival of this new girl. Just the sight of her gave Aras a feelings of evil and sin around him. The friendly exchange between this new woman and the one he had be trying to distract didn't really show any good signs, either. He was sure that these two were not of God's loving creation. As human as they looked... well at least one of them did, their emotions were just flooding with hatred of their fellow man and woman alike. And for what reason? He did not know. He was sure that they would be coming after him. The newcomer even proclaimed victory under the eye of a false Goddess. Surely wicked in their ways, his portrayal of purity would attract their attention of hatred and sin and make him their target instead of the officers around them.
That theory was shot down, however, as the women seemed to kindly refuse treatment and instead politely ask him to wait until providing treatment. Aras was confused. Why were they being so nice to him? Were they... human after all? Aras was even sickened by this thought even more. A demon, Angel of Hell, was expected to cause such hideous acts of sin for they were blinded by Lucifer's visions and turn away from the grace of God. Yet, these women... had the kindness of a pure hearted individual, yet spilled blood as if water and took lives as if taking the money of a paycheck. They showed no remorse; no, they HAD no remorse. How could mortals such as him be so cruel? It caused Aras to almost drop the drape of cloth he had in his hand in pure shock.
The line that the first woman had said stuck out in Aras' mind. "Shall we show them exactly why mutants are the superior race?" Superior race? Could she truly be THAT foolish? What superior race? And mutants? The only time he had ever heard that word was at the monastery and when he first watched the news after moving into his apartment. From what he understood, Aras was a mutant. So were these two ladies, he imagined. Could it have something to do with their blessed or cursed powers they possessed. The second woman seemed that way to with that pink bubble around her. Aras figured the first's mutation was the reason for her metallic limbs replacing both flesh and blood. Yet why were their powers so destructive yet his power so pure? The battle between God and Lucifer must have spilled into the lives of humans again; they were the soldiers, as well.
Aras was brought back to reality by the first woman shouting at him. While Aras looked at her, she asked him what he was. Human or mutant. What difference was there? Why did it matter? He could not understand this ladies line of thinking, yet he was sure her question more hindered on whether he had powers as well. Aras looked at his hands with wonder. How should he answer. Saying human would put down his blessed gifts. Saying mutant would take out that he was one of God's children and a servent to his Lord Jesus Christ. Why were some humans so foolish? Aras looked up at the woman who had asked, his dark brown eyes meeting her green ones. He had an answer, the only truthful answer he could give.
"B-Both." His voice cracked at first, yet he tried to continue. "I have powers as you do as well, yet I am also a part of man created by God. I'm not sure what-" His explanation was cut off by the sound of gun fire. Other officers had come to them and had fired their weapons. Aras was scared for his life, yet looking at the two seemed to show that they were not afraid. They did not show fear of death or pain. Even the lady who had been shot was still standing, apathetic of whatever pain she may be going through. Aras' mind still rambled over whether they were human or not. It was nerve racking, as he could very well be standing next to two demons spawned by Satan himself. Aras simply leaned against the wall of the building and sighed. So much for a trouble-free day.
"We shall turn the streets red with their blood" She replied to Meld when she asked about proving their superiority, this dance would be a bit rough. Their were a good Number of cops and even with her power, she likely could not handle them all, but with meld they could do well, she liked the girl, it really was to bad she was not her type. The cops moved in formation, it seemed they had practiced for this, and Aura was glad a dance like this should be a challinge with each step being precise. The robed man botherd her and she was unsure why, she had lived with people who wore robes all the time and had taken no issue with them, in fact she had once worn a robe herslef, an item she tried not to touch these days if she could. Kicking the body at her feet she looked around them again, pointing to whare she had seen the police hiding, she was unsure if their was more though.
"Both?" Aura asked as the man responded to meld's question. She had no idea how one could be both. "One can not be both the Predator and the pray. If you have a gift, it is one that nature meant for you to use, your powers are a gift of nature, the mark of the dawn of our race!" she said proudly as bullet came at her, adjusting her Aura, she defelcted the bullet aside taking a smaller portion of the corce, and then she ran right at the cops, trying to take their fire, she felt her Aura taking hits more becuse the strength waned a bit with each deflected hit. Her Aura blade changed to a Saw as she uppercutting the surprised officer, the blade cutting into his jaw, severing the bones of his lower jaw, leaving it barely attached, she noticed the other officer glance up at the roof top she had come from, looking for his support. Putting his gun away he pulled out his shotgun and took Aim at Aura, the blast was enough to send aura backwards onto her back, her Aura had felt that one, even as she got up, sliceing into a brave police officers leg that got to close. They seemed to be trying to take them alive still, and that surprised Aura, but she then decided that they were liekly to be exampels like predator had been. Grabbing the Police officer who she had struck first she hid behind him, in order to have some shielding from the fire.
"The dance growes" she said back to meld unsure if she would get her refrence, but Aura's main concearn was how many cops were really out here, and the idea that this would likely not help their reputations. Only in the back of her mind, did she register, the helicopter aproaching, news or police was another story Aura had not bothered with, Backing off a bit and letting the body fall to the ground she looked around seeing if Meld or the other person whom she assumed was a mutant though an oddly behaving one were ok. "You humans will fall" she said with a confident smile as she looked upon a building Aura had no idea was a church. "We could hide in thare, plenty of Humans" Aura suggested of the church, it was a warehouse, the people its wares for their use.

Meld felt disdain at the robed man's answer of both to her question. She knew there were those who still thought of themselves as human but to claim as much was to hold onto a past that no longer held any relevance. Mutants were humans evolved, a different race entirely and a far superior one at that. It was a sign of weakness to try to maintain ties with an identity that no longer existed. But despite his weakness of spirit he was plainly a mutant and that meant that it was her responsibility to try and protect him, at least long enough to get him out of this mess alive. This attack had nothing to do with the stranger and it wouldn't be fair of her to force him to fend for himself against a mob of armed humans. "If you don't want to die today I suggest you come stand behind us," she yelled at the stranger, hoping that he would have the sense to listen. He didn't seem to be the combative type.
Meld was glad that Aura was there to take some of the gunfire away from her, knowing that her friend could better deflect bullets than she could. She took advantage of the distraction that Aura presented and stepped forward, cutting at the neck of one of the cops that was charging them while keeping her shield arm more or less in front of her. Blood splattered everywhere and her target fell to the ground. She turned just in time to see the second cop lunging at her with his tazer and she agilely swerved out of the way, barely avoiding the tazer strike. In retaliation she kicked him hard in the shin and heard bone snap as her metal foot connected solidly with his flesh. With one arm she grabbed the tazer away from him and the other she wrapped around his neck and chest, taking him as a hostage. He screamed in agony caused by his broken leg.
There was a momentary pause in the fighting and gunfire and Meld became aware of the sounds of a helicopter near by; a quick glance confirming that it was not an NYPD helicopter, but probably a news copter. For some reason it seemed as if the police wanted to take them alive rather than kill them, confirming her earlier suspicion that they wanted to make an example out of them. It made her hate that type of human even more. She glanced at the building her friend mentioned as a place to make a stand and nodded her head. It was a strange choice, being a church, but it would serve their purposes well. "We stick together and make our way to the church," Meld yelled.
Meld began slowly approaching the church, weary for more targets. She placed her back to Aura's and dragged the still screaming cop in front of her, the tazer still clutched in her other hand. Hopefully it would dissuade other cops from shooting at her and if not he would at least provide a small amount of protection against incoming bullets. She had no regard for his life, not only was he human but he was police and it was he who had attacked her not the other way around. It was his choice to die and so this day, one way or another, he would end up dead.
Are these ladies blinded by sin and power or just plain stupid? Aras had been standing watching in horror as man killed man will no effort to stop or surrender. What was even worse was their reaction to his answer. What was wrong with admitting his human qualities; the qualities that made his one of God's divine creatures. Aras was baffled at how far they could have fallen out of the Lord's hands. These people thought of themselves as a completely different race than Man. If that was the case, they were surely heading in the wrong direction, and their action provided evidence to support that claim. Aras could simply not begin to imagine what could have let these people become what they are today. Aras shook his head and sighed. What could have happened to these people?
What still confused Aras was their concern for him; or at least the first woman telling him to stick by them. By the way the whole confrontation was going, she might have had a point. The officers seemed very intent on bringing them all down, and offering help to the woman with the shot leg didn't seem like the best way to convince them that he was not on their side. As much as he wished the woman would just die and return to the flames of Hell where she most surely spawned, deep down he knew she was right. Father, he silently prayed, forgive me for being so close to such breeders of sin. Their time will come for You to judge them. May their sins be purged alongside Satan himself. He shook his head and decided to follow alongside them. It was then that he noticed the second woman pointing to a building to hide out in. Her comment plus Aras looking at the building itself made Aras gasp in fear and accidentally scream in terror.
"NO!" That's all he could muster. He sighed and followed alongside them, trying to convince them otherwise. "Please, don't go in there to hide. The people there... they don't deserve to be dragged into all of this! Please choose somewhere else to hide. Please!" He followed along with his face showing signs of distress and mistrust. He had his doubts as to why they would turn to a church of all places to hide out in first. Aras was nervous about the second woman's mention about more "humans" in there. Yes, of course there would be humans in there, you dunce. Just like another human would enter if you walked in. How much more could you increase the gap between your IQ and a lepers? Aras could not say that out loud, yet that could be placed on the fear that she had a massive shield and he could only touch her to do damage.
He approached the church and sighed to himself. He felt like crying, he really did. He was scared, scared for his own fate as well as this house of God's. What could the possibilities be if women such as these enter into such a glorious house. Aras felt sick to his stomach. Any sort of damage would surely break his heart. He had to protect this home at whatever cost, his life was nothing compared to His home. He walked into the small lobby of the church before entering the main area of prayer. Through the glass Aras could see that there were people inside along with a priest. The sermon was being withheld as most looked to the back at Aras' direction, wondering what was happening outside. Aras sighed as he looked back at the two women. Please Father, let their minds refuse them any harm to Your house of worship. I shall protect your home as well.
Aura was glad meld had though to protect the robed guy, after all he was a mutant even if he was a follish one and so deserved to be protected. "Good thinking Meld, No reason he should suffer the humans wrath" she called bacl even as she cut into the gut of another officer, he got off a shot before dropping his gun, the bullet defelcted striking the stained glass window in front of the church, the well built window stood strong however and did not shatter. Standing she looked up at the chopper, not a good a sign, the last thing they needed was the news. her mind recalled trying not to make public appearinces like this, but then they had not caused the issue, they had simply chosen their way to solve it.
To Aura the church was another building, prettier then many but Aura knew only that a lot of people went to them for religen, not what the various beleifs were. She figured most of them were humans and thus useful as shields or simply for the pleasure of carpentry. Aura nodded at meld's thought to stick together it was a good solid plan, somthing they were getting quite good at. When she was with meld it felt like the old days, back in the woods, the smell of pine. Aura had no idea what the robe person yelled no about, Aura looked around to check for a threat to him, even brushing by him a sshe did but their wa sno threat on him, at the moment anyway, Humans rarely checked targets with mutants. Aura felt the preassur eon her back more then felt Meld herself and moved so that they stayed togethr to the entrence, Aura slashed at the heavy door, of the church and made littile more then a scratch, whatever these doors were, they were hard, Pulling it Open Aura moved incide.
Aura blinked taking a few steps from meld, the shooting had stopped and now they were being looked at by dozens of church goers dressed nicely and looking scared. Aura wnated to play and hunt, but their current rdeal was a littile to serious to play games. Still Aura cut into an empty eooden bench and proceded to push the cut the deeper as she wnited for their next move, only extracting the blade after a good foot or so. Looking around One man seemed to stand out, he was dressed like their robed friend here, Aura wonderd if they were both Mutants.
"No one leaves the building until we say so, any resistence will be met with unquestionable deadly force" she anounced, and desbite her pink Aura a man in a suit tried to put her hand on Auras Shoulder. "Now young lady, you can not....." he began to say, but stopped as he coughed blood, Aura blade already in his neck straight through the main artery to his brain. Aura let him drop, pooling blood on the floor, and then Aura walked down the isle, still smiling, people now took her more serious moving to the ouside of their benches if they could. Ajusting her Aura, Aura amde a drill and began to spin the drill several times she drew lines in the sides of the benches. For the first tiem Aura realized they might be trapped here if they did not do somthing soon, or the cops were tired of dieing.
Predator was talking his usual stroll around the city, scoping out areas of interest and generally refamilarizing himself with the streets. After his escape from jail, Predator had become more of a closed book, not letting his emotions show as much as he used to, and taking more long walks around the city. He was in the area around Times Square when he heard the gunshots.
Predator had avoided the Square since his unfortunate incident there, but gunshots warrented his attention, no, more than his attention, his presence. No doubt the police were into some deep shit, because they had a stupid rule about not shooting people most of the time. If they were shooting off round in the panicked, untrained way that Predator heard, then it most definately was something he wanted to check out.
However, Predator had become more cautious with transforming to his Foo Dog form ever since the jail, and so it was as a human that he walked into the Square. He saw several uniformed cops, as well as some in civilian dress, surrounding the door to a church. There was no doubt that whatever they were shooting at was in there. Whatever it was, it was obvious that the cops were very agitaded, and it was important enough to warrant a pre-planned sting sort of operation. That was reason enough for Predator to aid them.
Predator walked up behind one of the uniformed officers, the one closest to the building, and tapped him on the shoulder. The man turned, saying "I'm sorry, sir, but you will have to le-" but was cut off as Predator's sharp claws opened up his windpipe and stomach. The other officers began to turn, but Predator had already lept to the wall and skittered around the corner, his claws digging into the masonry. After a few seconds he reached a stained glass window, and he jumped through, shattering it and landing on the floor.
What he saw was unexpected, but not altogether surprising. Meld and Aura were standing in the center isle, and a dead man lay at Aura's feet. There was a curiously robed man, but who was Predator to talk about robes. "Well now, what a pleasant surprise." He said. "How are you ladies today?"

Meld wasn't entirely sure why the robed mutant had such a problem with them choosing to make their stand in the church. It was the best choice, given their present circumstances and their survival and avoidance of capture had to be their top priority; to make it any less was to risk everything. But then, some people acted a little funny when it came to churches and god. Churches were supposed to be holy places, places of God and worship, although she wasn't entirely sure what made a church more special than any other building. God had never played a very important role in her life, both of her parents being atheists and she believed more in the ability of each individual person to make their own destinies rather than some man in the sky. It seemed ludicrous to attribute success to some holy deity and failure to some ultimate evil.
The three of them managed to make it inside of the church with no further injuries or major incidents. Meld nodded respectfully towards Aura as she demanded that no one leave and then proceeded to eliminate the priest. There was nothing like a definite show of force to make the masses obey without question. Meld cut the throat of the still screaming officer and let his corpse fall to the floor. With all the hostages in this building he was no longer needed.
Meld considered exactly what to do next. They were in a hostage situation now, barracaded inside a church with at least a couple dozen hostages. The police, however, were not likely to let them go without a fight. Despite her criminal experience, this was a first for her. She had, once, had to break an associate of a man who hired her out of a similar situation. She was never told all the details of exactly how he had found himself barracaded in a store with 4 hostages, she hadn't needed to know that to perform her job adequately, but it had been her job, along with 1 other, to make sure he got out alive. There hadn't been nearly as many officers to stand in there way then, and she hadn't been in the habit of killing at that time either, but they did manage to incapacitate the officers long enough to get their target out safely and alive. But without outside assistance, which she doubted they could count on, she wasn't sure exactly how they were going to get out of this one. Their only advantage lie in the amount of hostages they had at their disposal and she could only hope that the police didn't want any more casualties.
Just as she was thinking these thoughts, however, Predator burst through the front door. Meld grinned broadly and a little sadistically; first Aura had come to help her than Predator, her only two real friends in this city and the only two she had really learned to trust in a fight. "A very pleasant surprise," Meld answered. "But we really do need to figure out how we all plan to get out of here alive and free. We need to establish a line of communication with the police outside and we need to demonstrate that we're serious, that we're willing to hurt or kill anyone in here in order to ensure our freedom."
That said, Meld turned her attention back to their hostages. "Everyone, get on the floor now!" she yelled, pleased to see that most, at least, obeyed quickly and without hesitation. A few in the crowed were crying and more than a few were plainly panicked. They had probably never been in a situation quite like this before. Meld grabbed a woman by the hair and dragged her to her, eliciting a scream of terror. "If the police do not agree to our demands you will be the first to die, after being tortured horribly," she told the woman calmly. Torture wasn't something that particularly appealed to Meld but she knew that it sometimes had its uses and this was one of those times. They had many hostages and, with a little luck, their screams of terror and agony would help further convince the officers outside that they were much better off letting them go safely.
Aras sensed trouble within the first step inside the church. While Aras was finding a way to try and explain to the people the situation, it looked like the second woman from before had decided to take that role for herself and fail at it, instead yelling demands and orders. Aras' stomach grew more and more ill as the woman went on and on to the people in the church about their orders of not moving. Haven't these two women had enough? Can't they handle anything with care and bliss? Couldn't they settle down a little and respect that they were in the house of the Lord? Why would they need to be so hostile? Aras' biggest fear came when a man in a suit, possibly a husband or father came up to the woman shouting demands and attempted to calm her. Aras was sick; he knew this wouldn't end well.
"No! Don't g-" Too late. A pink blade coming from what looked like the girls aura of some kind went through the mans throat, causing blood to spread everywhere. Aras' stomach could not take much more as it convulsed and left him on his knees holding back vomit in his mouth. He painfully swallowed the acidic bile as he did want to damage or tarnish the floors of the church. Quickly he slid over to the man as he looked up at the sky. His swelled with both fear and pain. With tears down his face, Aras watched painfully as the mans life drained away. Seeing as his time was short, Aras held the man in his arms and held back his tears and whispered to the man, though the echoes of the churches interior allowed for others to hear. "Please, show no fear. Your pain will be short lived. You will be with Him now. Go, be with our Father." After those words, Aras noticed the mans limp body and slowly dragged the eyelids down over his eyes and slowly laid him down. Please, my Lord. Take care of his soul as he died out of the kindness of his heart.
It was only the sound of another life being taken in sync with the breaking of glass that turn Aras' head around. Chaos was brooding in his mind as others around him began to panic. The newcomer who burst through seemed to talk casually to the two woman he had been with before. How many more of these people are there? The woman with metal limbs than suddenly grabbed a woman and started shouting threats of torture and death. This was enough. Aras could not sit by and plead anymore. Aras stood up and calmly walked to the woman. Something in him was screaming how suicidal this was, yet he had no other choice but to try and protect the church. If he died, God would cradle his soul and he would be with his mother and father again, along with his Lord and Savior.
"No." His voice was lower and graver than usual. His emotions were truly represented in his voice. "Do not take another life in this house of God. All you are doing is proving yourselves no better than humans without our blessed gifts. You and the humans who killed my family are equal. You talk about a superior race? BAH! You will NEVER be superior than anyone, not even in Hell, as Lucifer will always shadow your ridiculous sin. If you are truly superior you will stop this all now. Until than, your simply just another person I'd smile to see burn in Hell with any humans you may have killed. If it is there that you truly find out your equality, than fine." Suddenly he did something that he may regret later and grabbed the metal hand that held on to the lady and looked into the green eyes of the woman. "Be superior. Stop this at once and peacefully find a way out. I will help you if necessary."
The glass shatterd and a creature of beauity emerged, Predator. 'Hey Pred head" she waived with a smile on her face. Things just kept getting better and better, their sitaution was na issue tacticlly of course, but the fight so far had been decent, for human opponents anyway. Aura had to smile though, even if the police won the dance, their bodies would be piled high, not to mention the animals still in the building as well, they would be first, they were unarmed and could try to help the police, so they could only be kept until their risk outmatched the benifit of having the livestock living.
Meld mentioned getting a line of cummunication up, which made sence, Aura however was poor with words, and still liked the idea of carving through them. The knolage they would all likely be killed in such a poor choice of tactics however kept the thought just that. Toucing her head, Aura froze for a moment and her Aura began to thin slightly, though she tried to keep it from being noticed. The Images in her mind were bginning to clicker again, calling to her like a moth to the flame. The battile had not been enough to chase them away, unable to deal with them properly, Aura brushed them aside the best she could, hiding her mental wound like a predator. A wound could render one unuseful, and to be unuseful was to be dead, this was a simple truth but a concrete one as Aura knew the laws of the world.
"I can do Torture, i think, it is torture to extract a person s bones while they live right? People normally struggel to much for that" Aura said her voice, one of absalute wonder as she thought about the idea. Would freash bone be any more viable then the normal stuff, she procured from the recently slain. "What is this hell? and My shadow is named L-Luc-Luifi'fer?" she asked having trouble with the name and being confused, she actually looked back at her shadow and tilted her head. Aura stopped trying to figure ou what he said when he compared them to humans, another mutant traiter, already angry Aura reacted swiftly when the robed man grabbed Meld's metal Arm, he was a mutant and Aura was unsure what b he could do, her blade was at the back of his neck, in a single flowing movement. "Listen, Robes, I Know not of the god or hell you speak, i do know Syn though, she is our lovely boss, If lucicer or...whoever is her shadows name then thats fine, Even assume this god is true? Why would he allow such a thing to occur? If he is real then maybe we should see if he bothers to save you" She said knowing she mispronounced that name of Syns shadow. She was also sure her words made littile sense, his ungrateful words were strange to her. Still she was unsure how Syn was involved and more so why her shadow would have a name. Was she suppose to have names hers?
"Since you enjoy the Human's so much Robes, i'll make a deal with you, each time the police fail to agree to our demands, Each of us will pick a way to kill the victem, and you can choose, take to long and i just might have to start my peeling their skin back layer by layer. That way Robes, you can have fun to" She said with a laugh, Mutant or not, he was a hinderence, and what matterd first was the three of them got out alive. If they could they would try and save the pathetic traitor, even if he did diserve to die. "Should we rob them?" she asled, simply now trying to play with the robed mans mind.
