The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After meeting Sophia and getting let into the mansion, Tses finally managed to break away and seek out her new younger friend. The place was huge; she couldn't deny that, and surprisingly well kept even with so many little mutants running all over the place. She managed to avoid most people today, which was lucky, but she would rather make this encounter as minimal as possible. Being in a place like this made her feel like she was on trial: they all felt like doo-gooders and she didn't want to be dragged into their cult.
It seemed like every turn led to another, and Tses was wandering in circles. Pushing her bangs out of the way, she wished she'd had some clearer directions. Maybe she'd had some, it was hard to remember since she didn't tend to pay attention very well when people talked. Sometimes, she thought she should try to work on her people skills.
But that WAS what she was here for, after all.
Then she saw a familiar blond figure walking out of a doorway, and Tses forced herself to jump forward, calling out to catch the young girl's attention. "Serena! Hey, there you are!" She said, and gave what she hoped was a friendly smile. Inwardly, she hoped the girl wasn't going to cry this time. She really hated tears.
It was afternoon, most people were still in class, near the end of the classes, but still. Serena suspected Liz was in class. For she was alone in her room and didn't start classes 'Till next week, she had been given time to 'adjust'... But Serena was sick of adjusting! She wanted something to do! It was boring just lying around her room all day long, feeling depressed.
She decided that sitting around and mopeing wasn't going to do anything for her. So she said to herself "Alright Serena, time to do something." She got up, put her book away and then went and brushed her hair, straightened out her top and jeans, threw on her blue sleeveless jacket and pre paired to go and find something to eat.
Before she left, she remembered something, she ran over to her bedside table and grabbed her teal hairpins and placed them where they belonged. Then she set out, after getting her hair just right. She moved across to the door and turned the handle.
As she exited the room she heard a familiar voice. She turned to see Tses greeting her with a friendly Smile. Serena felt a wide grin spread across her face, for she had been wanting to thank Tses for ages! "Hey there Tses!" She said with a warm smile.
Ok, no tears. So far so good. And there was a smile. Another point. Annnd no blood. It seemed to be her lucky day. "Hey kid. You look a lot better." She said with a kinda 'nod' of approval. She pushed her hair out of her face, and adjusted her stance awkwardly. She wasn't really sure what was the right way to great someone. Ty always seemed to have a thing for trying to hug her, and she never quite mastered that. Then there was the general 'hey punk, let's fight' interactions she seemed to have. Again, that wasn't what she was looking for here. In the end, her kinda awkward hello stance would have to do.
"They treating you ok here? Don't have to come kick some ass right?" She said, glancing around. Not that it would work much here. Trying to set off a bomb in this place would be like kicking a bee hive. Momentary bliss, followed by buckets of regret.
She smiled at Tses comment. She certainly felt better. Her powers drained her rather a lot. She must have looked very pale when she had first met Tses, she certainly felt stronger, not just in terms of energy, She felt more confident, like she didn't have to worry about hurting people as much.
"I certainly feel much better." Tses was funny. Her comment about kicking they're asses made Serena giggle a little. "No, it's fine, they've treated me well. My roommate is great too."
Serena didn't want Tses to worry about her. She had seemed to portray that she wasn't used to social interaction, but to Serena, it was relatively clear that Tses cared. She liked her, even if she had a little trouble with talking to people, maybe Serena could help with that...
She felt a little as if she owed Tses after she had stuck her neck out for Serena like that.
Tses felt relieved, although she probably wouldn't have admitted it. In her mind, it was like dropping a pet off at the pound and then hoping that it didn't get euthanized, or get an owner that treated it badly. Serena didn't seem to be in rough shape, so that was enough for her. Well, mostly. She still wasn't sold on the place after she saw the rather uh, snotty greater.
"Room mate eh? How are you two getting along?" Her curiosity was getting the best of her. She was secretly wondering if the girl had some like, plant human room mate or heck, maybe she had the cat girl as a room mate. The uh, 'nice because I want to be' person. Serena wasn't like that, was she? Was she the stereotypical mansionite kid? Tses wasn't sure. Maybe if she was lucky there was a rebellious edge somewhere in the girl. Part of her kinda thought it would be fun to teach someone her glamorous life of crime. Then again, part of her knew it was better for people to avoid that if they had the option. It had done her little good, and people did seem to be happier here than she was alone.
Serena was happy that Tses had come and found her, for all the social situation hate that the girl seemed to display, she really seemed to care. She had gone out of her way, to come to the mansion, and navigate the maze which was the mansion.
She smiled at Tses' comment about Liz. "Liz is great! She's really nice and the same age as me, so I don't have to worry about her thinking I'm like... wierd or anything, well she probably thinks that anyway."
Serena thought that this conversation might take a little while, and it was probably better had... not in a hallway. "C'mon lets go and sit down and chat, I'll make some tea" Serena smiled at Tses.
Tses felt a smirk cross her face ever so slowly as she heard the name Liz. In her wanderings, she had run into someone who spoke of a Liz and also lived here. It was too precious. The ever famous Liz was Serena’s roommate. ”Oh… Liz. I’ve heard she’s pretty nice. A certain winged mutant I met seemed fond of her at least.” She found herself saying with a little bit of a teasing tone. Carrick would probably kill her if he knew she'd said anything, but it was too delightful to resist.
"I think weird is a hard label to use when you're in a mutant school anyway, but I'm glad that's going well." She blinked in surprise at the suggestion of tea, but gave a little shrug. "I don't think I've ever had a chance to try tea, so that sounds fine. By the way, this school is a maze. It took forever to figure out where you'd be and one of the---students, professor?--- tried to chaperone me the whole time...." She remarked.
Winged mutant? That certainly rung a bell. She gave Tses a playful smile. "Ah, so you have met Carrick too have you..." she felt slightly red, remembering the winged angel bursting through the kitchen doors naked.
Serena shrugged at Tses comment. "I wouldn't know, I've met a few students and very few professors. I haven't started yet, they gave me a bit of time to settle in, due to my... situation."
Eager to change the topic from that awful night which had eventually led Serena to end up here at the mansion, she gestured down the hallway. "I won't say I know the whole mansion, but being British, I had to know where I could make myself Tea." She gave Tses a wink.
Tses grinned as Serena said the mutants name, and she laughed. "Yeah! I met him just after Christmas, he gave me a ride home and we exchanged some lovely smart alek banter. It was pretty fun." She said. She missed the red tint of Serena's face, busy glancing around the halls as they moved.
"Yeah, well stuff takes time. Don't rush it. Never went to school myself so I apparently took all the time I wanted." She tried to give a joke to brush off any sadness the girl would start feeling, but she knew some things just took time to heal from. The first few years after loosing her sister were the hardest, but with time she grew used to it. She even made new friends and family, and that eased some of the loss. Serena, hopefully, would experience that soon.
"Ah, British and tea. I thought that was just a stereotype!" Tses remarked, smirking slightly. Her shoulders shook slightly with a suppressed chuckle, and she followed the path to the kitchen. "I never picked up the whole 'coffee' thing most people around here have. Think it tastes like crap personally. Hopefully tea is better." She smirked.
Serena smiled at Tses comment. "Hey, stereo types have to come from somewhere" She wondered how old the stereo type was, or how many people around NY would just assume that Serena would drink massive amounts of tea, because she was British...
Serena grinned at Tses comment "I totally agree! Me and my bro were never ones for coffee, so we just bought huge amounts of tea and drank that instead... I really like it, hopefully you will to." She gave Tses a warm smile.
She tried to remember the exact route from her room to the kitchen and the subsequent sitting area... Yes, she knew her way around well enough for that. Serena, with a smirk on her face, feeling rather pleased with herself that she knew her way around to this extent. Gestured to the direction of the kitchen and sitting rooms. "Right this way!"
Serena was glad that Tses had decided to drop by, it took her mind off of things and also gave her a chance to see if she could make friends with Tses, after all, so far as Serena could tell. Tses was a great person and would make a great friend. Serena would just need to show her the wonders of tea.
Tses felt a smile start to form on the corner of her mouth. It didn't quite build all the way, although that wasn't a surprise after the month she'd had. She felt a little better hanging out with Serena and knowing she was fine, but that didn't heal the emotional numbness she was feeling. She was beyond broken-hearted; she was abandoned, and she didn't know how to deal with that stress. But she was making the most of it. She was going to sit, and drink tea whether she liked it or not, and she was going to force some form of emotion to the surface, whether it was happy or not. Tses just had to do what she always did: push past the pain and focus on the present. She was a fighter, after all. And even in the numbness she was holding on.
"Hopefully." Tses murmured on the concept of liking tea, and then entered the kitchen behind Serena.
The kitchen seemed fairly well equipped. Nothing super fancy (what with there being so many mutants around) but it still had decent appliances and, after her talk with Carrick, she was fairly certain there were well stocked cupboards. She always felt lost in kitchens. She didn't have the slightest clue how to run anything in them, and if it wasn't pre-made, she didn't eat it at her house. "One of these day's I know enough about cooking to actually be able to decide whether or not this is a decent kitchen set up. Looks nicer than my own, can at least say that." She remarked.
Serena turned slightly while brewing tea in the kitchen at Tses comment and gave her a small grin. "I'm sure that you're only saying that because it's bigger than you're kitchen, and it's a mansion. So that is understandable." She carried on brewing the tea.
"Well, me and my brother used to just eat instant meals, because of his odd working hours you know? So I can't really cook, unless you count brewing tea or baking brownies or cookies. Then you could say I can cook" Serena gave Tses a wink.
She pulled out a tray, put the tea pot, two mugs, some milk and some sugar on it and turned to Tses and smiled "Come on, we can sit down and chat though there" Serena nodded in the direction of the doorway leading to and empty sitting room.
Tses shrugged her shoulders and smirked slightly. "I couldn't use a stove if I wanted to, so 'bigger' is about the only comparison I can make." She remarked. She chuckled slightly, and leaned against a counter. "And I couldn't bake anything unless it involved a microwave. Ovens, pots, pans, all that stuff. I have it, just don't do anything with it. I guess I figure if I have it I can pretend I know what I'm doing. But now you know my secret. I don't have a clue." She shrugged. Normally she would feel a little miffed when someone found out how little she knew about something, but it felt a little different with Serena. She felt a lot like Kelarii; her younger hadn't cared whether Tses could do something or not. It was just enough that she tried.
As the tray was set, and Serena was ready, Tses straightened up and moved after Serena to the sitting room, and plopped uncertainly in one of the chairs. She had never been in a room like this, and the fairly nice upholstered chairs reminded her what type of place she was in. She wouldn't know what to do if she lived someplace like this. Every time she sneezed she'd worry she was going to break something.
Serena smiled as she sat down and poured the tea "Hey, Not everyone can cook, from the look of you and the way you managed to deal with a freaked out 17 year old mutant, I think you could take on pretty much anything." Serena gave one of those sisterly grins she gave her brother.
It was the sort of girly habit which she had, but this was the first time she had one since her older brother had died, it felt a little like that when she was talking to Tses. It made Serena feel really happy, not just that forced happiness, a natural one.
She didn't know how Tses'd like her tea, and as Tses had never tried it before, Serena gave her best attempt, milk and two sugars, then she tended to her own and handed Tses the cup "Here you go Tses, hope you like it." She said with a warm smile.
Tses chuckled slightly at Serena's comment, and shook her head slowly. "I'm not sure about that. I mean, I can handle floating blood and all the things that go bump in the night, but most of this normal human stuff kinda stumps me. I'll jump rooftops any day, but try to get me to go shopping and you'd think you asked me to chop my hand off." Tses chuckled. she took the little cup of tea carefully, and awkwardly held it in her hand. She moved in the way you'd expect a larger dangerous mutant to: one who broke everything they touched. She sat as if she was worried she'd shatter something, and held the cup as if terrified she'd drop it. Truth was, she really didn't understand social customs. She had mostly plastic cups in her house because at least they wouldn't break if she threw them. Or blew them up.... glass blowing up could be very nasty business, and she tried to avoid that when possible.
Sipping the liquid, the taste was bitter at first until the milk and sugar kicked in and sweetened it on her taste-buds. The result was mildly interesting to her uncultured taste buds, and she tried to resist licking her tongue across her teeth and around her mouth in the manner people did when they were trying to sort out exactly what a flavor was. She didn't have anything to compare this to, so she took another sip and looked thoughtful. "Well, it's different. Not sure if that's good or bad. Good I think. I just don't have tea tastebuds so I really can't judge your brewing abilities." Tses chuckled, setting the cup down for a moment.
