The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Worrying, had always been one of Ruby’s greatest weaknesses. Every since she was little, she always worried about how her big sisters were and how they were feeling and things like that, only because she cared for them so much. While she was much better about it, there were still times where she started to worry again, particularly about her older sister, Emerald.
Her worries were completely understood considering the fact that her elder sibling gets into fights so frequently, fights that often left her in some sort of bad shape. With the way her sister was, it was a wonder that Ruby didn’t have a heart attack the first day her older sister got into a bad fight when she was 5, resulting in a broken nose, a black eye and a busted knee. Thank goodness Ruby’s worries were eased now by the fact that she knew that her older sister could take care of herself…relatively. Okay, so Ruby’s fears weren’t completely ebbed away but no one really blamed her for that, all she was doing was looking after her sisters.
So this was what lead Ruby down stairs around nine o clock at night to the danger room, well at least the outside of the room. Typically, when Ruby came to visit Emerald, she oftentimes was down here, doing some new kind of training. Sometimes, Ruby was able to hear her big sis from inside the danger room, due to all the havoc Emerald caused whenever she was in that room.
The fox girl was worried because Emerald had yet to enter the Lupins room and kiss Ruby goodnight. Sure it was a silly tradition that most parents do to children in order to get them to go to sleep, but Ruby didn’t care, her big sister would always be allowed to do that to her. Besides, Emerald had been almost like a second mom to Ruby during their time at the institute and the last thing Ruby wanted to happen was her sister possibly being in danger all because she couldn’t hear her. So Ruby was planning all of her older sisters hide outs to see if she could find her anywhere. The first place to listen to was the danger room.placing her head against the cold metal of the door, Ruby’s keen ears completely focused on the door before her and not anyone else.

It was late when he made his way down to the danger room. He'd gotten in late. Usually, he'd have been back earlier. Today was just another of those days. After the rounds with the NYC police officer, he'd needed a good danger room simulation to blow off steam. Or maybe a hot shower, to inhale it. He still didn't know if he liked the idea of working with the police. It seemed crass, somehow. So many officers hated them for being what they were, and yet they often owed the X-men their lives...
Many times, they didn't seem to want to acknowledge that or show they cared.
Shin walked down the dark hallway to the danger room, pondering the thought. Why didn't they care? What was their deal? Why'd they seem like they somehow hated him... even when he was backing them up?
As he neared the danger room, he noticed he wasn't alone. Someone was by the door of the room.
Strange. It's way too late for any of the students to playing around with laser deathbots... Shin thought. Maybe the kid was lost?
Silently, like a ghost, he crept down the hall to stand behind the person. He opened his mouth, and spoke in perhaps too loud a voice for one who'd just snuck up on another. "Hey. You need help?"
Little did he know what a hair-raising situation he'd just walked into on his own.
When eavesdropping on on the goings on in the danger room, Ruby was far to focussed on her current job to even think of the footsteps behind her. So when the electricity built up foxling heard someones voice fairly close behind her, instincts took over. What Emerald had taught her in training was that the first thing she should do if someone snuck up behind her was immediately release her electricity that was built up. That way, if they were an enemy, especially one with an unfamiliar scent, like whoever spoke to her was. With a tiny surprised yelp escaping her lips, static flowed from her body to the surrounding area, and though it was mainly static electricity it was enough to give the sneaky person a bad hairdoo as well as a sudden shock.
The problem with this method was the sheer fact that she ended up short circuiting all of the electrical objects around her, including the danger room door. Once the shock was done, Ruby turned around to see the young man, with his hair all sticking up and looking rather frazzled.
"I'm so sorry about this, but you scared me!" Ruby told him Ruby blushed a little, smoothing her own hair down from its frizzed state, becoming accustomed to fixing it after such a wide release of electricity.

-Bzt!-
Pneumatic Hiss.
The Danger Room door came slid open, like something out of Star Trek. Shin fell onto his backside, hair a mess. He blinked at the blushing fox-girl in front of him.
"Uuuuuuuuh..." Blink. Blink. Slowly, his mind rolled to another syllable, and a question. "Why are you... here? In front of the Danger Room, in the middle of the night?" A hand went up to Shin's hair, and tried smoothing it down. Had he been too up-front with that question?
A very tenative glance was cast to the young man she electrocuted, guilt flooding those green eyes of hers. She hadnt meant to hurt anyone she was just surprised by the man who just snuck up behind her. Staring down at her shoes, Ruby fidgetted nervously. At this moment, Ruby sure was glad that it wasnt the new headmaster that had found her, he probably would have given her a detention for sure. Or at least, thats what Ruby heard from some of the other kids that he was a real stickler for the rules. How had Ruby heard this? Little Pitchers have big ears.
"Looking for my Big Sister, She usually lets me in when shes practicing in the danger room to observe," Ruby replied with a timid glance up at the older boy. It was obvious the fox girl felt guilty about what she had done. "I'm really sorry I short circuted stuff again, Do you want me to fix it? Oh, Im Ruby Lupin, You must be Mr Shin, one of the other X men I heard about." Ruby looked at him with curious eyes.

Big sister... hmm... Shin didn't know who the girl's sister was, but apparently, she trained here often. This late, though?
He shoved off the ground, onto his feet again. Ugh. He felt a little fried. A little lot fried. A glance towards the door confirmed it was worse off than him. Just fantastic. The girl looked like she hadn't wanted any of this, though, so Shin decided not to be a stickler for the rules... yet.
"That's okay, Ruby," He said calmly. "We can get someone to fix the door in the morning. It's a little late to be in the danger room training, though. Are you certain your sister comes here this late at night? It... doesn't look like she's in there right now..." He frowned. That he'd been planning to train here this late wasn't important. That someone else would was the far stranger situation. "People should really be in bed right now. It's against the rules to be out here, spying... are you okay, though?"
Concern was etched on his face, behind a smile. "Do you do that often? Fry things?"
Ruby felt her ears droop guiltly when he questioned her, tail curling around her body meekly. She had a habbit of short circuting things, making them spark out of control before breaking all together. It was one of the problems with her abilities and it looked like the boy was being a little bit understanding of her powers. This was good because Ruby didnt want to get into trouble for somethig she hadnt meant to do.
"Emmy trains here a lot, she sometimes stays late when she doesn't work out as much in the morning or misses her afternoon swim. I know i shouldn't be up this late, but I worry about my big sister not returning to our room after a certain amount of time, even if she is out jogging or helping people at the dinner." Ruby explained, knowing she might as well tell the truth about her sisters training habits, most being confirmed by the videos of the older Lupin girl being in the danger room several times a week. "As for me frying things...yeah when someone surprises me or I build up to much electricity, even when I have a cold I can accidentally short circuit things. Sometimes I will short things on purpose, only soda machines that wont give me exact change or candy machines tat get stuck."
There was no sense in being dishonest to the older boy, considering she got caught looking for her sister red handed.

When he questioned her, her ears drooped. Shin didn't notice. He was busy doing his job, and recovering from electric shock. He nodded at her answers, unimpeded by guilt.
According to the girl, her sister, 'Emmy', trained in the danger room often. That meant she either had X-men permission, or was an X-man. He didn't know all the X-men, so he couldn't tell who. It seemed she was the type to work long into the night, though, and lose track of time. That would help him narrow it down later.
Ruby was concerned. It was a little early to be this concerned, though. This 'breaking things' concerned...
As for the 'breaking things'... she'd done that accidentally... but sometimes, she could do that on purpose? To break the law? An eyebrow arched. "Not really something you should be doing, breaking soda machines. That costs the company money. 25 cents isn't worth it."
Pause, end reprimand. Shin put a hand to his head, sighing. He was tired. It was really affecting his game. "Sorry about spooking you. You really do need to get ahold of your powers, though. Do you train at all?" He looked at her curiously.
"I always fix the machines though, I dont leave them broken, thats just mean." Ruby told him, obviously not liking the thought of damaging a machine. Ruby loved machines and electronics, she loved just tinkering with them to see what they could do. She didn't want to destroy them or anything like that but if she could take it apart in order to make something better she would do it. The fox girl would sometimes siphon parts away from other machines to fix newer ones, but that was only in dire straits. It was then the nice boy apologized for scaring her which was very nice of him. At least he wasn't going to call her a chicken or anything like that.
"It's fine Mr Shin. Training? Yeah I train all the time with both of my sisters, thing is, I build up up a lot of electricity so when I'm surprised or scared I tend to release it whether I want to or not. High energy situations or emotions sort of make me short things out." Ruby paused for a moment, "Emmy says its a good defense mechanism though, especially when I go to the science store or the auto garages in New York. I just have to learn how to redirect the Electricity a little better and get it to focus on a central point." Ruby replied, knowing quite a bit about her own abilities, just not so much how to control them.
