The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. The woman that Jacen had managed to pull out of the mess was very young looking. Although she was obviously an adult she couldn't have been more than 20 or maybe 21 if he was any good at judging ages. What in the world was she doing in this mob? Had she come to buy a video game or had she simply been swept along with the crowd just like he had?
"The police should be arriving soon." Jacen said grimly as he glanced over his shoulder at the various geeks and gamers that were continueing to battle it out, "There'll be some paramedica right behind them so we can see about getting you checked out." He continued as he turned his attention back around to the young woman.
Her brown eyes were moist looking at tears continued to try and fight their way to the surface. Instead of being in any type of adult style, the young woman's brown hair was down up in something that Jacen remembered seeing in either grade school or highschool. Maybe she was trying to hold on to the youth that she was already leaving. That was a question for either her parents or a shrink somewhere not for him.
"You want to wait here for help to arrive or would you like me to try and get you back outside?" It wouldn't be an easy task but Jacen would do his best to get innocent victims out of an area like this. It was her choice of course.
"Heat is good... it's normal when two people are attracted to each other." Jacen murmured softly as his brown eyes stared down into Kealey's blue ones. It was amazing just how brilliantly blue her eyes were and as he looked into them he could almost feel himself getting lost in them.
As he looked at her, Jacen kept his left hand firmly in place at the small of her back but he allowed his right hand to slowly move up and down the curve of her spine. He was careful to take it only up to the edge of the fabric and then back down again, never quite touching bare skin but coming awfully close each time.
"I'm feeling heat coursing through my veins." Jacen murmured, his grip tightening on the woman every so slightly, drawing her just a little closer, "Desire like I've rarely felt in my life. Need for something that I can't even explain." Slowly Jacen's mouth descended again, his lips making contact with hers as he spoke a few last words, "I'm feeling that I want the beautiful woman in my arms."
Deepening the kiss, Jacen did his best to remain in control even though pure primal instinct was trying to fight its way to the surface. Who would have thought that Kealey's blue dress would lead to something like this? Who would have thought that he could begin to corrupt her like this? Jacen was still in control of his movements but he knew if she was going to stop things it would have to be soon. If much more time passed control would go out the window leaving only pure, unadulterated lust and desire.
When Lori first started speaking, Jacen didn't even bother opening his eyes to look at her. After her being slightly annoyed with him on a previous encounter when he had been the one starting to talk, it was kind of interesting to see that she was now the one that felt she needed to say something.
Finally though, he had to chuckle a little bit as her fingers began to pinch at his side. "I think that most couples would admit this would have made for a strange day. We can probably skip out on most of those particular items, although the slugging it out in bed part is fun."
The blond's hands were busy as she ran them over Jacen's bare torso discovering the little tickling spots that she had never really paid attention to. When her fingers trailed over the skin just under his lowest ribs, Jacen squirmed slightly even though he tried not to. Then as one finger trailed a lazy pattern across his belly button he gritted his teeth and fought off the urge to suck in his gut in order to escape the wonderful torture.
"You're a baaaad girl." Jacen murmured as he suddenly sprang into action, grabbing Lori's wrists and rolling over so that he was now positioned to the side and slightly above her with both of her hands held up above her head, "So tell me... if this isn't what every day of a real relationship is like, are you a little more interested?
Dipping his head down, Jacen gently nipped at the skin below her ear before moving around to nibble at her throat. "And did you mean it when you said you might be falling in love?" He breathed against her neck before lifting his head up and just staring into her eyes. There was just something so intoxicating about her blue eyes. They were beautiful and as he looked at her Jacen found himself once again amazed by how different the two women that had come into his life were. Kealey was little Miss Innocent that saw the whole world through child's eyes while Lori was the bad girl that had a sensitive side that she always kept hidden but for some reason had decided to expose to Jacen. "Are you ready to keep moving forward or is it time to bail out?"
"I think we can forget the flirting lessons." Jacen responded with a chuckle, "Next time we'll just do you and me with our best boots and hats. After all, those are requirements at a western bar."
Why in the world did women spend so much time trying to get their hair just perfect when most men would say that they loved to see women that let their hair cascade down naturally. And why did women alway think they had to wear high heels to be sexy? Bare feet could be just attractive if not more so. After all, bare feet exuded a vulnerability that most any man would agree was very attractive.
As he watched Kealey flush just a little bit more and begin to try and expllain was she was feeling, Jacen had to smile. She was so innocent and yet so enticing all at the same time. Without even realizing it she could be sexier than any harlot out on the street. Why else had the creepo come after her instead of the read head?
"It's very normal." Jacen replied huskily as he walked over to her and slowly slipped his arms around her slim waist. It was his first time holding her and as much as he wanted to caress every curve, he held himself in check and kept his hands in a safe place around her waist and on the small of her back. "But if just the looks make you feel that way, what do this do?"
Slowly Jacen bent down, tilting his head ever so slightly as he pressed his lips against Kealey's. The heat that they had shared earlier returned with a vengeance though he remained careful not to push things to far to fast. He didn't want Kealey to think he was just out to take advantage of her or that he was out to make her do something she didn't want to. No, if she wanted him to stop he woudl be more than willing to stop but until she asked him to... well... they would have to see where their imaginations took them.
She hadn't understood what he said but it wasn't time to clarify words. He had told her he would never want to hurt her and that was absolutely true but even he understood that even best friends or lovers could hurt each other. Perhaps some time he would explain what he meant to Lori but for now it was enough to know that they both fealt something for one another. She was even beginning to think she might love him. Could he ask for any more?
Somewhere along the way Jacen's shirt had come off and the feeling of her hands on his bare skin was pure heaven. He was concentrating on one thing... making sure that Lori enjoyed every moment with him just to prove that she had made the right decision and that there were no regrets. Not ever.
The once clean bathroom floor became littered with clothing as everything was shed and within moments the two were hidden within a curtain of steam. Gentle whispers and murmurs could be heard as they cleaned one another but soon the soap was forgotten as they began to focus on coaxing one another to new heights of pleasure. Some time later Jacen stepped out of the shower with the blond carefully cradled in his arms and made his way over to the bed. Soon the moans and gasps could be heard again as backs arched and two people once again came together.
(Fade To Black)
***
For at least a little while both figures seemed content to cuddle only this time Jacen was not going to mess things up by speaking. No... a simple kiss placed on the top of the head and fingers gently combing through damp hair spoke volumes that mere words could never describe. This was true contentment but one question seemed to echo in Jacen's mind... "How long can this last?"
Apparently Jacen wasn't being particularly clear about what he wanted either because he seemed to be confusing Lori just as much as she was confusing him. She asked why he kept saying they didn't have to have sex and then segwayed directly into a comment about how he had done in the fight. What in the world? How did those two have a connection? But then he began to realize something. As she pulled him tighter and tried to give him some sort of smile, she was actually showing some sort of vulnerability for the first time in their relationship. For once, she wasn't acting like the tough girl that was completely in control. She was admitting that she was scared and even her movements seemed a little tenative.
"Please don't hurt me." The words were spoke lip to lip as they began to kiss and for a moment Jacen was in awe as his lips stilled. This strong, courageous, and feisty woman was worried about him hurting her?
Pulling back from the kiss, Jacen suddenly knelt down slightly, one arm sweeping under her legs to knock her knees out and effortlessly lift her back up into his arms. Cradeling her close to his chest Jacen kissed her with every bit of pent up emotion that had built up over the course of the day and evening. If she was going to be vulnerable then it was up to him to prove that he wasn't out to hurt her... that he wasn't trying to gain something from her and then walk away with a laugh. If she was willing to give this side of herself over then what did that mean for the state of their relationship?
Deepning the kiss Jacen carried her to the bedroom and into the bathroom, one arm lowering her so that she was now sitting on the bathroom counter as his lips continued to press against hers. A part of him didn't want to admit just how much he was coming to like this woman and maybe even need her. She was the one that had helped him discover his true abilities and then helped him accept life as a mutant. She had given him so much without even realizing it but was she going to give him her heart as well?
"I don't ever want to hurt you Lori." He finally murmured as he pulled back from the kiss, his gaze almost heated enough to scorch a person, "Not intentionally and not by accident. Never!"
Jacen leaned up against the door frame and looked at Kealey with just a touch of a smile on his lips. "No, I don't need to go and the drink selection isn't important." Jacen replied, his voice as hoenst as he could make it, "I was hoping you'd invite me in but I didn't want to presume."
Moving inside Jacen slipped off his jacket and folded it in half before laying it on an open area of the clean kitchen counter. Even as he was making himself a little more comfortable he watched Kealey out of the corner of his eye, making sure that he never strayed so far away that she would get hit by a rush of strange emotion. "Although a rush of her own emotion might be just what the doctor ordered."
"This has been one of the most fun evenings I've had in a while." Jacen said with a smile as he turned back around to face the blond once again, "We should do this again some time. Maybe western bar if you think that would make you more comfortable."
The real question was whether Jacen could accept watching Kealey flirt with some other guy on yet another night. He had gone along with it tonight but at the same time he had been extremely happy when she had turned her attention to focus on just him. "The only bad thing about a western theme is you won't be able to wear that dress." Jacen continued as he gave her an appreciate glance that he carefully controled so that it hopefully wouldn't make her uncomfortable, "Have I mentioned how beautiful you look?"
Something was most deffinately up but Jacen had no clue about what it might be. Deciding that it was best to let the subject drop for the moment he simply pulled into his parking space at the apartment and then, after grabbing his own spare set of clothes, followed the blond woman up the stairs and down the hall that led to his apartment.
"Lori," Jacen said after they were inside and the door was closed, reaching forward to grab her hand and stop her in her tracks, "wait." Slowly he walked around and stood directly in front of her, his hand never losing grip on hers. "What's going on? Look, being blunt, if you're not interested in sex tonight, that's OK. I'm not going to try and force you or anything. Like I said before, I just like spending time with you."
Why did he keep feeling like he needed to explain himself to this woman? Problems seems to come up out of the blue but they never fit with the pattern that Jacen had seen so many other women follow. Lori obviously was from a different mold but that just made it all the more confusing. "The offer for a shower and then getting some sleep is still on the table if you want it, or I can always call you a cab if you don't want me to drop you off somewhere." Jacen offered, his eyes searching Lori's face for some sort of expression. What did this woman want? Sure, she enjoyed the showers and the sex but what did she really want?
"You're beautiful." He suddenly said for no reason, "Even with river water dried in your hair."
"Sounds good to me." Jacen said with a smile. Sliding off of his chair he offered his arm to the blond and then escorted her out of the club, leaving the rest of his drink forgotten in its glass. Within just a few minutes they were both in his truck, pulling out of the parking lot.
"Well, I hope that jerk's advances didn't leave a bad taste in your mouth when its comes to clubs." Jacen said with a smile as he tried to keep the conversation casual. There was no way he was going to begin a discussion about why he had kissed her or why she had returned the kiss. No, it was best to just leave that on the back burner of their minds while the two of them chatted about other matter on their way to... to... well there was a question. Where were they going?
There was no question that he wanted to keep Kealey all to himself which narrowed their choices for the evening down to either his apartment or hers. His apartment would be a good choice because it meant she wouldn't be able to change out of that sexy dress but then again it might come across as to forward. Plus there was always the chance that Lori would show up at his apartment for some reason. Kealey's apartment would give her the option to change but at the same time would allow her to feel more comfortable while also taking care of any thread of their possibly being interupted should more 'practicing' ensue. Of course, that all depended on her inviting him in to the apartment.
"You do look beautiful tonight Kealey." Jacen offered again as he glanced over at her, allowing just a touch of the heat to creep back into his eyes as he smiled at her, "And if you could read my emotions you'd know I was being honest about that." Thankfully they pulled into a parking space just down the street from Kealey's building, meaning that she didn't have to reply to the comment.
"Let me walk you to your door at least." His offer was chivelrous but with disguised hopes for when they got to the door. Would she invite him in? Would he get to kiss her again? Would he get to see just how smooth the skin on those long legs of hers really was?
Things seemed to be going fine and Lori and Jacen both seemed to have agreed to a course of action for the rest of their evening but then Lori had to speak up and throw a wrench into the situation. Where in the world did the desire to be dropped off somewhere come from? Had he said something? Had he done something?
"Uh... sure." Jacen said slowly and cautiously, "I can drop you off somewhere if you really want me to but do you have a friend to stay with or something? Last thing you told me was that giant man burned your place tot he ground."
Why did she have to do something like that? He had been looking forward to spending the last of his evening with Lori whether they did anything physical or not. There was something about her, something about her zest for life that just made him want to spend more time around her. Obviously it was possible to get addicted to drugs and Jacen was beginning to wonder whether Lori just might be his drug of choice.
Even as Lori made her suggestion for Aloe Vera, Jacen was checking out the skin on his arms and the back of his neck. He'd been fortunate enough to keep his face away from the heat for the most part but his exposed neck and arms had still gotten some of the same treatment that Lori had received. "Aloe vera... check." Jacen replied as he and Lori fell into step together and began to make the trek back to the truck. They walked in comfortable silence but Jacen's mind was whirling with all that he had just experienced. Apparently the air didn't work as a medium the same way that water which was most definitely a good thing but in the battle he had also discovered that his field didn't actually stop objects that were thrown at him. Sure it nullified the x-gene which was awesome but it didn't solve all of his problems.
"And why do I even care? It's not like I want to get in fights like this all the time." Jacen thought to himself as he tried to understand what was happening. Why was a part of his mind categorizing what his ability could do? Why did he even care?
"Remind me why I hang out with a guy that attracts more trouble than I do?"
Without a word of response Jacen turned and walked over to Lori. Without a single pause he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up onto her toes while planting a heated kiss directly on her lips. "Because you like showers, sex, and hanging out with me but you're also wondering whether I might be exactly what you need in your life." He replied with a slight smile before unlocking the truck and opening the passenger door for her. Walking back around his truck he tiredly climbed up into the truck and started the engine.
"Sorry we messed up the change of clothes." Jacen offered as the vehicle pulled out, merging into the slightly lighter night traffic, "Will your other clothes be OK to change back into or do we need to stop somewhere again?"
This was a completely different experience than the kiss he had given her before because this time it was both of them sharing a kiss, not just him giving her one. As he deepened the kiss just a little bit more the 'what ifs' began to fly through his mind. What if he wasn't seeing Lori at all? What if he and Kealey weren't sitting on separate bar stools in a crowded club? What if they were back at his or her place? If they had been standing next to each other or sitting next to each other in a booth would be he more daring?
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Jacen slowly pulled is lips away for Kealey's. As he looked at her face his thumb continued to gently caress her cheek. "You're a good kisser." He murmured quietly, "You should do that more often."
The world around them was beginning to seep back into Jacen's mind and even though he knew that it was probably common for couples to have at least light make-out sessions right in front of everyone, that wasn't something he often did and it definitely wasn't a situation he wanted to put Kealey in.
"You want to stick around here and enjoy the club for a while longer or are you ready to go?" He asked quietly, his eyes still heated as he tried to bring his emotions and hormones back under control. How was it that two women that were such polar opposites could both be so sexy? Never in his life would he have ever dreamed that he would be interested in two beautiful blonds at the same time much less dreamed that he would be acting on those feeling for both of them. It was different for him but ever since he had met Lori a part of him he didn't even know existed had been slowly making its way to the surface. He wasn't out to sleep with as many women as he could but for once in his life he was willing to go after what he wanted just because he wanted it. He didn't want to hurt either of the women but...
"Damn! What am I thinking?!" Jacen suddenly realized, "Am I really willing to go all the way with Kealey if she let me? Am I really willing to do that when I know I'm seeing Lori? What's happening to me?"
Why was it that Jacen was only now beginning to notice just how full and lush Kealey's lips were? Sure he had gently brushed them with a kiss a week or two before but as her mouth formed the various words Jacen kept finding himself wondering what it would be like to give her a real kiss. Would she run off again or would she kiss him back this time?
Her answer was nice enough but Jacen was quickly realizing that even though they were still talking about a 'hypothetical' situation, their minds were anywhere but hypothetical, or at least his mind was.
"What do her lips taste like? What does her skin feel like?" The questions bounced around Jacen's mind as he continued to watch the young woman while not even realizing that his gaze was growing more heated and more intense.
Opening his mouth, Jacen found that he didn't have the words to continue their discussion. No, it was time to forget hypothetical and take some sort of action and he'd just have to deal with whatever the consequences were after the fact.
"Forget hypothetical." He finally said as his hand released its grip on her hand and moved up to gently cup her cheek. "You're beautiful Kealey." He murmured before leaning forward and gently pressing his lips against hers. This was different than the kiss he had previously given her because now there was most definitely some heat. He wasn't demanding but instead a touch coaxing as his lips tried to get her to respond while his thumb gently caressed her cheek. Either she was going to kiss him back or she was gonna slap him... there was no other options.
The fight was frantic and Jacen's face was a mask of concentration as he did his best to block the rain of blows that continued to come his way while dishing out some powerful blows of his own. For a brief moment a small gap appeared in the crowd but as he began to move through it he saw a young woman go down out of the corner of his eye. One moment she seemed to be struggling against the crowd and then the next she dropped below the struggling masses.
Changing direction, Jacen's blows became slightly more frantic as he hit anyone and anything that prevented him from getting to where he had seen the girl go down. As he finally broke through enough to see her again he realized she wasn't actually down... at least not all the way down. Instead the young woman seemed to be in a crouch as she tried to avoid the blows that were seeming to come at random from all sides.
Moving forward without a thought for himself, Jacen quickly lifted the young woman into his arms and began to bull doze his way through the crowd, shielding the lady as best he could with his body while trying to ignore the blows that continued to come in contact with him. Suddenly out of nowhere a fist appeared, slamming into his left eye without the slightest pause. The blow wasn't extremely powerful but even then it was more than enough to burst blood vessels and start a nice black and blue mark around the eye.
Finally after a few more minutes of struggle Jacen burst through the crowd and into a small corner that was pretty well vacant of the struggle. Scanning the video game titles nearby it was no wonder that things were quiet in this section... after all, how many people would be fighting over princess and pony games?
"Are you OK?" Jacen asked as he set the young woman back down on the floor, momentarily ignoring the mob that was still fighting just a few feet away from the two of them, "Anything broken?"
Apparently Kealey was more than willing to forget her lessons for at least a little while and just chat with him though she hadn't really given him a clear answer about what she would think. Instead she had turned it back around and said her thoughts about him as some random guy would depend on his own intentions.
"What would I be wanting?" Jacen wondered for a brief moment as he lifted his glass to his lips, taking another sip of the alcohol in order to give him just a moment to think. It was hard to say how he would act around Kealey if she were just some random girl because she wasn't just some random girl.
"I'd probably focus on flirting and maybe buying you a drink or two." Jacen said with a slight smile, teasing and daring the young woman to respond all at once, "But at the same time my mind would be wandering to whether I might get a chance to kiss you and what you might be wearing under that dress. After all, even though I may be a gentleman, I'm still a man."
So now the challenge was in her court. She knew what he would be thinking but now how would she react? Would she be shocked that those kinds of thoughts could come to a stranger's mind? Would she be upset that he could even suggest such an idea? Or was it possible that maybe, just maybe, she would like the idea of his beginning to romance her.
"So now, you have your answer about my intentions, but what would you think about me?"
Without meaning to Jacen's mind suddenly wandered back to the very brief kiss he had given Kealey back on the docks. It hadn't been meant for anything beyond friendship but as he looked at her dressed in her beautiful blue dress he had to wonder what it would be like if they were to kiss again, but this time, with her kissing him back.
