The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

For a first day in a new city it was starting to look up, he had met another mutant. Even if Serena's mutation was a little..creepy. Although he wasn't really one to talk about creepy mutations, with him eating ash and what not.
So for a while Leon and Serena talked. They talked about England and what life was like before the USA. This conversation quickly became very one sided with Leon detailing parts of his life to her, from how he went from prized son to the mutant to be hidden away. As all of these little facts and memory's came out it was like someone had lifted a weight off of his chest, with each word becoming easier to speak and each memory less painful.
That's when they bumped into the man.
Leon had just been explaining how Americans had no taste for tea, "They always put in far too much mil-."His sentence was cut short as he felt his legs come out beneath him, as he fell he caught a glimpse of a figure directly in front of him although it was too dark to see the face. By the general build it was defiantly not Serena.
Today is just not my day. Thought Leon as he scratched his head, and looked up to the figure now directly in front and above him. His thoughts fluttered back to the mob that had attacked him and Serena, the way it had started with a single mugger who when beaten went to get backup.
Looking at the man now it was clear it was a teenager. Although the mugger had also been a teenager so that was no reason to trust him.
"Sorry man i didn't see you there." He said with no hint of kindness in his voice. This man had no reason to be trusted and for all Leon knew he could be the start of another attack. As far as he was concerned the only trust worthy person was Serena, after all she had saved him from the rioters and a mugger.

Maybe now wasn't the best time to tell her that he isn't the best in a fist fight. Well i didn't expect them to catch up so damn fast. Thought Leon with a slight frown, after all he really liked this waistcoat and would hate to ruin it. With a second to prepare himself he awaited the beating from the Mob.
Then the girl offered him a way out, get behind her? Could he really just hide behind this small girl. Well she obviously was confident and had a plan so it would be wise to do as she says.
"If you say so." He said, and made his way behind the girl leaving a few steps so she still had room to do whatever she was going to do.

Well things where going according to plan, after all the girl had taken the hint and started running once they where blinded. Although he would have preferred to not get pulled along by the arm. Through the woods...
Ouch.
Running with a girl quite a bit shorter than you pulling your arm hurts, quite a bit. not to mention the fact that she was making them zig-zag through the woods. So yeah that was not the funnest run he had ever been on, as his arm and back where now aching a considerable amount.
Then it all started to fall apart as the first of the mob recovered from the smokescreen and attacked them. Which was quite surprising, he knew he had to make the screen thin but still that was some impressive recovery. And confirmed that they where completely out matched in speed.
Well this is going to hurt. thought Leon as the remaining three closed around them, boxing them in. "Well i did have one idea, but that failed as we where caught so...improvise?" He said trying to not let the worry and anticipation leak into his voice. looking at them now as they started to close in the circle they looked normal. Unfortunately they where not out of breath and most certainly not amused.
Suddenly the nice conversation he was having was shattered by the arrival of four armed men. By the look of their weapons and clothing they had been in other fights tonight, as both weapons and clothing was covered in flecks of blood, with more coating the weapons. In the case of the baseball bat it was more recognizable as a red baton than the wooden bat.
>> "DAMN STRAIGHT! Mutant whore!"
"OH! Look what escaped the zoo, now I have heard of parrots copying speech, but I have never seen a monkey call someone a whore before." He said with clear scorn in his voice. After all why should he stoop to the levels of gangs and uneducated people, and this isn't the first gang he has dealt with so he knew the drill. Show no fear. And don't give them an inch to work with.
"But alas I have little time to deal with people like you So. bye bye." He said with a slight smile on his face, feeling the tingling in his throat. starting as a small tickle, building to become a hot spice in the center of his chest and neck. Then came the ash, streaming out of Leon's mouth like a small storm.
The ash came out at direct head level for the new men, taking control of the cloud as it exited his body to form a smokescreen that covered the heads of the rioters. Although with that little ash the screen couldn't be as effective as he wanted it to be. At best it would buy them a few seconds head start he guessed.

Leon smiled at the girl, "It doesn't taste that bad, sorta like burnt bacon. And yeah the city is kinda crazy. " he said, only now beginning to realize that the city was a bit out of hand. All of the chaos he had merely dismissed earlier as he saw it, after all he didn't know what the city was normally like. But this girl who lived here just said that the city was going crazy.
"So you mean the city isnt normally this crazy?" He asked with genuine curiosity.
If I'm going to be living here I may as well know whats going on.
Suddenly he stopped, it could have been his imagination after all he was thinking about violent mobs. But all the same he was sure that the bushes next to them just moved, and not like the wind was blowing them it was to... precise a movement. There it was again but this time behind them in the trees, again just a single noise. A single crunch of leaves.

Oh good she understood what I meant.
"Yes I am a mutant, I guess there's no point in hiding it now anyway." Said Leon with a slight warmth to his voice, to demonstrate his point he willed the ash from the end of his cigarette into his mouth and stored it for later. He hoped he hadn't been too forward with the display after all that trick normally creeps people out.
The trick aside he couldn't believe his luck after all, the solution to his problems was standing right next to him. This girl saved him and just happens to live at the school he was going to. "Oh sorry completely forgot, I'm Leon, like I tried to say before you know the coughing.." He said smiling he was not happy to be in america but knowing that there are people like this here may just make it easier.

Leon waved off her arm and straightened up taking several deep breaths before saying "I'll be fine it just happens from time to time." In a tone that was not to harsh but implied he didn't want to go into details right now.
"As for where i was trying to go its called Xavier's sister school." Said Leon with a little smile, "you know kinda big mansion, iron gates a boarding school for....special people." putting emphasis on the words special people, hoping that she understood that he meant mutants, and didn't think he was being to vague.
Now that he wasn't doubled over coughing and she moved closer he started to notice more features of her than before, the way her hair went down past her shoulder blades and some odd hair pins. And as she was closer he also noticed that she was indeed short. Only coming up to about his neck at most.
Oh well I almost got mugged , I guess I can have another. Hethought as he pulled a fresh cigarette from his pack, which he proceeded to light and take a long calm inhale.
"So do you know where the school is?" he asked with a new found calm.

Yeah definitely British.
"No I am not injured, thanks to you." Leon responded plainly to the question. However it may sound he was still thankful to this mystery girl. Upon closer inspection the girl was a fair amount smaller than him and decently pretty. This however was dwarfed by his shock of her accent. Another Brit. On his first day!
"Sooo anyway I'm sort of lost. Care to help a man out?" he asked the girl as he watched the man, well what he thought was a man but on closer inspection was no more than a boy, scramble away. "Oh sorry where are my manners the names Leo-" was all he could manage before his body was racked with coughing and spasms in his throat. The fit only lasted a few seconds but that was enough to leave him shaken and on edge.
why do the fits always come at the most inopportune times?
With a sudden rush all of Leon's muscles loosened and he let out a sigh of relief, then it occurred to him that the pressure was taken off fast. Too fast for a mugger, after all he didn't have what he wanted yet. After a second or two of indecision Leon decided to turn around and face his attacker. Only to be greeted with a sight he did not expect.
The sight that greeted Leon was largely different to the one he had envisioned. Before him was his attacker...being attacked by a teenage girl. "well i did not expect this" was all Leon could think to say. Then as all of this information started to process he noted that the girl was in fact British.
Is that British i can hear? I will ask her about that later.
"OK OK. I think you can let him go now its not like hes going to try and fight both of us." Leon told the new girl. kicking the fallen gun into the bushes.

So far Leon's day had been pretty bad, firstly the plane had been delayed by hours making his transport to the mansion leave without him. Then he noticed he had no money for a taxi meaning he had to walk. To a place he didn't know the location of. In a unfamiliar city. So by definition..Worst. Day. Ever.
"Stupid bus couldn't be bothered to wait a few hours..." me muttered to himself as he walked through what appeared to be a park. Great it was getting dark he thought noticing the faint glow of his lit cigarette growing brighter against the darkening sky. "I should probably start to slow down with these, this is the 10th today" he grumbled quietly. Finishing off the last few puffs of the cigarette.
Suddenly every muscle in his body tensed as a small cold pressure was applied to the base of his neck, "I don't want no trouble, just give me all your money and valuables and you'll be fine." He heard a voice say directly behind him.
Well i should have known this day could only get worse...

Character
Personality: Leon is rather aggressive, this aggression means he can make rash decisions and say things he regrets later down the line. Under the aggression is a deep love for his old home England, especially his family.
The life that he has brings stress, Leon deals with that stress through smoking…a lot he almost always has a cigarette lit or in hand, and on the rare occasion a cigar or pipe. This leaves him with a constant ashy smell. This potentially puts off the people around him.
Leon is fairly intelligent though prefers not to use it much, if a problem arises that he cannot solve easily or break it then he doesn’t care, his mutation didn’t help to quell Leon’s aggression very much, after all it was just another thing to add to the failure that was his life. Although it does give him another outlet to vent his anger and in some cases protect himself. Hobbies/ Interests: Leon is a vivid reader and will read anything from fantasy to politics, although he despises E-readers feeling that a book must remain paper. He also smokes rather a lot, although he has to be more careful now as England has different laws on smoking than New York does. Job or part time job and description: high school Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Leon misses his old home and family, and as such is scared of losing his accent and ties to England; due to this he is very defensive of his accent. Special talents: can make a mean brew (tea)
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Leon is good at heart but can appear to be neutral, as he will strive to help those who have looked past the aggression and got to know the real Leon. However to everyone else he will keep up the aggressive barrier and help them less.
Mutations
Mutation description: mutation description: Leon’s mutation is the manipulation of ash, where the ash comes from is irrelevant. Leon can just as easily control ash from a erupting volcano as he can from a cigarette, once manipulated he can control the movement and density of the ash. The main form of control comes from the shifting ash storms he can direct and manipulate, in their lightest form the storms can reach speeds of 15MPH. however as they are light these are mainly for suffocation or a cheap laugh. The second form is when Leon adds half of the ashes density to the storm, shrinking it by a quarter in the process but this heavier storm can knock a man off his feet and move objects. While at this density the storms can only move at 8MPH half that of the lighter storm.
To keep the cloud at the same size more ash will need to be manipulated into the cloud. Condensing takes about 3 seconds per KG of ash. The temperature of the ash does not affect his control, but he cannot change the temperature himself.
Leon’s body also can inhale ash, which is then stored inside his body and can be exhaled and manipulated. Due to this build up of ash Leon has a permanent cough. Strengths: the ash can act as a weapon, and a defence. With obvious health implications to breathing in ash. These do not apply to Leon whose body has mutated to be immune to the health risks of ash; as a result he cannot get cancer from smoking.
Weaknesses and Limitations: The limit that Leon can control at any given time is roughly 9kg (20lb) this is a absolute maximum and with increase of ash controlled comes a nasty side effect. at 3kg(6.6lb) Leon’s body begins to heat up, at this stage it is the same as being in a hot room and will not do more than annoy him. at 6KG(13.2) the effect is similar to being in a sauna, sweat covers his body and breathing starts to become more difficult. at 9KG(10lb) the effect causes his body to start evaporating the sweat at such a rate that the steam is visible, at this stage Leon will not be able to move without excruciating pain and any outside sources of water will be evaporated by his touch.
With repeated use of his mutation Leon will feel faint and nonstop use of 20 minutes or more will make him pass out. Upon passing out Leon will need to rest for 12 hours to recover completely.
Both of these side effects carry over to the next use of his mutation, unless Leon has been able to cool down (forcibly or naturally) and had a rest, between 1-2 hours to use again without any side effects from a previous use.
His range for controlling the ash is about 10 meters (32 feet) with his control becoming more unstable as he passes the 8 meter (26 feet) mark.
He will also be forced periodically (once or twice a week depending on the conditions) to empty his reserves. Where he does this is not relevant just that it is out of his system. If this is not done then Leon will start to feel the weight of the ash inside him. The amount that Leon can hold is roughly 500g or 1.1lb any over this amount and Leon will vomit the ash out of his body.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: physical stamina and strength are not the strongest points of Leon who would rather read a good book than get into a fist fight. Although he has decent reflexes and perceptions. Fighting Style: Fighting Style Pros/Cons:
History Of Your Character Leon had lead a fairly normal life for the first 17 years of his life, well as normal as a high class Londoner could get. From early life he was expected to deliver great things, if he could not deliver then he had it beaten into him that he could, this regime of learning right from wrong and turning him into an upperclassman went on for the first 13 years of his life.
That’s when he entered into Eton suddenly all of this pain and education became worth it, and to top it off he got to stay away from his parents. He couldn’t wait to go. Until he saw the sort of boys that didn’t go to Eton didn’t get a decent education and weren’t looked after properly, from his window at Eton Leon watched the gangs and grew to become scared of them. The way they lurked around the school grounds waiting for one student to step outside.
He had seen what happened to the ones that left the grounds, how they came back covered in bruises and cuts, their clothes torn and hair messed. More often than not missing some possession of theirs.
After watching the gangs around the grounds for two years Leon finally decided to make a stand and protect that which he was taught to love. So little after his 15th birthday he went out to meet the gangs head on. It was fair to say the fight lasted roughly 2 seconds, as one of the gang members punched Leon in the face and floored him instantly. However he noticed something as he was sitting on the floor that he had never seen before, it was small round and smoke was coming off the end as the one who punched him sucked on it. more curious was the substance that broke off and hit the ground, the way it scattered in the wind still glowing from the heat.
instinctively Leon spread out his palm and realised with shock that where was small coils of flame going around his body, although it didn’t seem to hurt if anything it took the edge off the cold night air. Suddenly the ashes of the cigarettes around the group gathered in his outstretched palm forming a small orb floating just above the skin.
Leon looked to the gang but they were gone, just the items they took from previous students remained, so Leon gathered them up and returned to his room. For two years after this incident the gangs stayed clear of the school, once or twice Leon heard rumours of a mutant in Eton which he knew to be true. And he was happy slowly learning to use his mutation through trial and error, mostly error. On his 17th birthday he got a letter from his parents who he had written two a week earlier, explaining that he was a mutant… also apologising that he had become addicted to smoking, the letter simply said that he was being sent to America to a new school for people like him.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: from my friend raz (Serena) Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: no Sample RP:
Leon sighed. Airports where such noisy places with people running around franticly looking for god knows what, but he didn’t care about that, the bit that was really annoying Leon was the no smoking signs plastered all over the walls.
*beep beep* rang the familiar tone that preceded a boarding announcement. “All passengers boarding flight 396 to New York City America please report to gate number 45.” Echoed through the airport. Great thought Leon guess that’s my cue to get out of the country. As he shouldered his bag and made his way with the rest of the passengers on their way to the USA.
on his way he noticed a duty free store, it suddenly occurred to him “does the us have different laws on smoking? Better stock up to be sure” muttering more to himself than anyone else. He entered the store and bought two packs of 100 cigarettes. The money was meant to be for food and water, but he already had that and cigarettes meant ash, to him ash was protection. In the large unknown world that was America protection was necessary. So he slipped them into his bag and made way to board his plane.
Once settled on the plane he started to think ahead to his new life, what would it be like, will I change, and will it be forever. All these questions rising as he took a long last look at the place he once called home. Although he had no answers to those questions now he promised himself that he would never forget his family and true home.
