The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Updated for the new system and Haywire points
An engineer, a physicist, and a statistician were hunting. After a short walk they spotted a moose. The engineer raised his gun and fired. The bullet landed 3 metres to the right of the moose. The physicist, realizing that the engineer did not account for the wind, aimed to the left and fired. The bullet landed 3 metres to the left of the moose. The statistician screamed "We got him! We got him!"

Note: Attribute Profiles are a relic of MRO's past. We keep them around because some oldies really like them, but new members are discouraged from making them. These are literally not used for anything these days, and haven't been for years.
The Mods are no longer keeping this guide updated. Some links may be broken, and information is out of date. In particular, points will no longer be awarded for plots, posting, or contests.
Seriously. If you're new, don't make one of these.
What is the Attribute Profile System?
Do you like seeing your character's abilities in numerical form? Do you have that gotta collect 'em all impulse? Then the Attribute Profile System is for you.
Attribute Profiles are a fun way for MROers to earn points through posting and through their character's training. Note: Attribute Profiles are not required, and don't really have an effect IC. If stats systems have never appealed to you, you don't need to worry about this: carry on with your regularly scheduled RPing.
You do not need to make an Attribute Profile unless you want to. Only 40% of players say they have Attribute Profiles for all their characters, and use them regularly. (Source: MRO Guide Survey.)
Why Use the Attribute Profile System?
For Comparison / Gauging Character Limits Some players like having a way to easily compare the stats of their character with others, or to decide how much damage their character can take or dish out (or what range they can do it in). Of course, just because someone's stat is higher doesn't mean they'd automatically win in a fight—mutations, and the situations our characters get into, are rarely so straight forward as that. Limit information is also in Character Profiles, but Attribute Profiles can make side-by-side comparisons quicker.
For Quantifying Character Growth / Planning Power Growths Having the attributes to prove it is one way of showing the Moderators that your character is ready for a limit increase, or a more sizable power growth. Note: Having points doesn't guarantee your character a limit increase or power growth; all Attribute Profile points must make sense with your Character Profile and their IC training. If your character has been sitting on the couch popping potato chips for the past three months, they aren't likely to be approved for an increase in Speed. You can also apply for limit increases / power growths without having an Attribute Profile.
What the Attribute Profiles Aren't
The Attribute Profiles Aren't D&D At MRO, Character Profiles, and what makes sense IC, trump all: if a certain stat score doesn't make sense for your character, then even if you have the points for it, you can't put the points there. For example: your nine year old illusionist can't have the physical strength of a world champion weight lifter, no matter how many extra points you have laying around. Your Attribute Profile should make sense for your character, not the other way around.
The Attribute Profiles Aren't a Perfect Fit for Every Power Unlike structured tabletop games, MRO has the potential for an infinite diversity of powers. As such: no stats system is ever going to perfectly fit every character. At least, no simple system ever will. The Mods are quite experienced at translating virtually any power into points, however, so if you're having trouble with it (and you want to make a profile), just ask for help. A good way to do this: send us a rough draft of what you think makes sense, and we'll help you from there.
The Attribute Profiles Don't Detail Everything These are just for fun: as one member said, MRO is an RPg, not an rpG. In particular, rather than breaking all of the categories up into Physical/Mental/Mutated subdivisions and making things three times as complex, we've only broken things into physical categories (which apply to every character, whether their mutation is physical or not), with two catch-all categories for our non-physical mutants (Mental Strength and Mutated Strength). That means that Mental/Mutated Strength encompass speed/range/weight/etc for our non-physical mutants. As such, only the greatest score will be listed. For example, if a shadow elemental's Character Profile states that he can manipulate shadows in the same room as himself (a 10 for area of effect), but he can make himself invisible to all five senses (a physical Stealth equivalent of 20), then his Mutated Strength would be 20. For non-physical mutants, make sure to check out their actual Character Profile if you have questions on their more specific limits. Or, just ask their player!
How to Earn Points
Every character starts with 50 points to distribute; the maximum any one character can use on their profile is 100 points. You do not need to distribute points as soon as you earn them—most people "bank" points until they have a power growth or other IC situation that merits using them.
There are four ways to earn points; through posting, winning contests, participating in site-wide plots, and high quality training threads. You may also loan points between your characters' profiles.

Creating / Updating an Attribute Profile
Email MutantRevolver@gmail.com to create or update your character's Attribute Profile, using the following template:
Character: Attribute Profile Link: (if updating)
For each category, please explain in one sentence why the stat makes sense for your character. If you're updating your profile, you only need to explain categories that have changed.
Physical Strength (How strong your character is, including physical mutations) Speed (How fast your character is, including physical mutations) Mental Strength (How strong your psychic abilities are (if any) and how well you can resist psychic attacks. This is not how smart you are.) Stealth (How well you can conceal yourself, including physical mutations) Senses (How well you can detect concealed opponents, including physical mutations) Mutated Strength (How strong your non-physical powers are) Mutated Control (How well you can control your physical/non-physical/mental powers) Good/Evil (How good/evil your character is. This doesn't count towards your point total. Take the quiz.)
Total: (Total the points used above, except for Good/Evil. This should be less than or equal to your total available points.)
Examples:
Physical Mutation: Super Strength
Non-Physical Mutation: Fire Elemental
A Split Profile: Sloth Shifter Example
How to Display Your Attribute Profile
If you choose to have an Attribute Profile, please make it as easy to find as your Character Profile. Three ways to do that:
1) Put a text link in your signature area.
[/a] (This is the easiest to maintain, since you'll never need to update it.)[/ul] 2) Put an Attribute Bar in your signature area, which links to your Attribute Profile.
[/a] (Attribute Bars should be no larger than 555 pixels wide by 40 pixels tall. In practice, people make them the same width as their regular signature, so that the images stack well. If you need help making an Attribute Bar, just ask over in the Avatars & Signatures board.)[/ul] 3) Put in text attributes with a link.
[/a] (If you put in text attributes, they should take up no more than one line, so that they don't significantly stretch your signature area's height. Just leave them the default sig text size.)[/ul]

After talking to Lady J we have decided that there should be an upper limit on howmany points you have. Ohter wise us veteran members will end up with enough power to rival gods and the newbies will have no chance against us. For that reason there is no an upper limit on how many points you can have.
The maximum number of attribute points you can have is 100.

Ok, this site utilise something know as attribute profiles. What these are are profiles that display your abilities in a numerical fashion. As a beginner you start with 50 points to distribute, but this number will grow. You gain points for various things. You will gain them for the number of posts you have: 100 posts – 2 attribute points 350 posts – 3 attribute points 700 posts – 5 attribute points 1000 posts – 8 attribute points Every 500 posts beyond a 1000 - 5 attribute points Also you gain them for winning either Mutant of the Month (5 attribute points) or the Caption Contest (2 attribute points). Finally you gain them for good RPing and participation in plots (variable, assigned by me, the Librarian and Lady J).
Here is the scale for stats:
For Physical Strength, Agility, Mental Strength, Stealth and Senses: 1-3 Below average 4-6 Average 7-10 Above average 11-15 Beyond human (Mutant ability required) 16-20 Superhuman (Mutant ability required) 21+ Super mutant (Mutant ability + Mod permission required)
For Mutated Strength and Mutated Control: 1-4 Weak 5-9 Average 10-15 Strong 16-20 Exceptional 21+ Super mutant (Mod permission required)
Here is the new list of stats:
Physical Strength (How strong and tough your character is, including mutations) Agility (How fast and agile your character is, including mutations) Mental Strength (How strong your psychic abilities are (if any) and how well you can resist psychic attacks. This is not how smart you are.) Stealth (How well you can conceal yourself, including mutations) Senses (How well you can detect concealed opponents, including mutations) Mutated Strength (How strong your powers are that do not fall into the above categories) Mutated Control (How well you can control your powers)
