The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "So more of a bar then? Or do you prefer the dancing as well?"
"Defiantly bars, but dancing is always welcome if I can find a good partner."" Seyta chuckled, this was likely the first time she had been dancing in a few years. She wasn't going to fall for Max just because he got past her powers and stay that way, but it was helping his chances. On the other hand, she deserved to do a little probing about him. "What about you though? Drinker, dancer or does every girl remind you of someone just so you can talk to them?" Perhaps that was a bit harsh, and an obviously a loaded question but it made his reaction easy to judge as legit or not. Continuing to dance she watched him closely but kept a grin so it seemed innocent.
>>"...There's a P.O. box on the letter, right? Or some way for the blackmailer to get money?"
Seyta nodded turning the envelope so Lori could see it. "There's no return address but the letter said they would be told where to drop off the money later." She listened to the options Lori gave her thinking them all over. It was a lot to take in for stock room worker. Movies made situations like this seem simple, the average Joe, or Jane in this case, was quickly dragged in and instantly knew they needed to do something. This however was not a movie and Seyta was getting swept up and really knew nothing.
>> "I wouldn't recommend most of these without some kind of back up, though. It's risky business."
Some kind of backup. Where was Seyta suppose to get that? From Lori her new best friend? Without her powers Seyta wasn't ready to even make a decision about something like this. What scared her even more was how confident and familiar with these ideas Lori seemed to be. Maybe trusting her wasn't such a good idea, but neither was picking up the envelope in the first place. Still Lori, and Lenna, had her name and knew her prints where on the photos, Seyta was trapped if she didn't get help from them. At the very least she had some hope of getting free if she played along with everything. "Ok...What do you recommend then? I'll be honest, I'm really useless for any of these ideas, at least without my powers. And since you seem to have a better clue than I do about the whole thing I give. I'll do what you want."
The rhythm was steady and not to fast, helpful in heels, and perfect for keeping a guys attention since she did actually have it. Seyta grinned to herself, she wasn't sure the last time she had actually danced with someone. Turning to face Max she flashed a grin letting his eyes wander over her slightly. Expected and allowable, now that they where up and about.
>> "Do this often?”
Seyta chuckled and shook her head. "I'm more the gimme free drinks kinda gal." The music was a little too loud for a good conversation but it was better than staring at each other awkwardly while that danced.
>>"...I'm too starving to think straight. Do you want one, Seyta?"
"I'm fine but thanks..." Seyta shrugged, watching Lenna walk off to get the food. She had already eaten before she came to the park. Even so, the idea of food wasn't very appealing with the photos still in her hands. Lori's suggestions where making sense though. While Seyta personally never had any issues with anti-mutant bias didn't mean it was not a problem.
>>"There are enough of us that we can protect each other. We could actually pull this off."
"I suppose so... but I'm still not sure how I'm suppose to help. Without knowing who sent the photos they're just going to give them to the news anyway. Not to mention I don't know about this kind of thing. I work in a stock room of a clothing store, and play violin on my days off. I don't mind being a part of this once I can use my powers again but I'll need help even then. Directions or something so I know what I'm suppose to do."
Seyta grinned turning her back to Max as she walked to the dance floor. Luckily having three drinks wasn't enough to throw off her balance. Maxwell's glance at the glasses left on the table had seemed like he wasn't sure who had drank them; which was fine with her.
Keeping her back to him Seyta started dancing, swinging her hips just enough to hold his attention without risking anything. Her dress was a bit small to take some faster paced songs. Hopefully she would be able to dance for a few songs before sitting one out.
Seyta watched Maxwell play with her glass. At least he was thinking over what he should go before acting. He wasn't a perfect fit for Seyta but it would be workable if he knew how to behave. As long as he got her hint they where on the right track. If nothing else she would be able to enjoy tonight even if this was the last time she saw him.
>> “Dancing. The rhythmical movement of a body to music in a way that is pleasant to watch. A form of self expression.” She watched him turn to the dance floor. “That is not dancing”
Seyta recognized the look of confusion when Maxwell turned back to her, most of her family got the same look whenever she visited. A momentary laps in focus and he nearly lost her. But he managed to keep his focus and he did get her hint.
>> “Did you want to dance?”
Restating the question when you forgot what you had been saying, expected given the situation. "Depends." Seyta stood up and took a step towards the dancefloor. "Can you keep up?"
Seyta watched Max slide her glass around the table, he wasn't trying to be subtle in his thinking. At least he was thinking it through and not just going for it. Hopefully he had understood her hint.
>>"Did you want to dance?" He raised an eyebrow, "Or is there a large jealous boyfriend standing behind me?"
Boyfriend? Seyta hadn't had a real date since high school. Bad humor aside he did ask, she wasn't that easy to win over though. "I don't know... depends on the song, and on what you call dancing." She did have limits after all, that bump and grind crap wasn't dancing and belonged behind a locked door.
She needed to keep him talking for a bit, get a better feel for him first. Then she'd play along for a bit, let him think he had her in his hands. She had used the same routine before on those rare occasions when a guy payed enough attention to push past her mutation. It worked well, but Maxwell was almost paying too much attention. She started to realize that if he was just a very polite pig she would actually have trouble getting rid of him.
His gaze wasn't too long but it was like he studied her, it was odd and somewhat uncomfortable. He was actually looking at the dress not her.
>>"Well, the print is bold enough, though the colors don't pop as well as they should iffin you really want my opinion. Red and black is such a classic combination, flawless really, but that shade..." Maxwell's expression didn't seem to like it much. "Designer could have pushed it a little more I think. Maybe a more vivid green to really make the roses shine. Cut's well enough though, and sitting it looks like a good fit for you."
Seyta sighed leaning on the table, he was either a fashion designer, gay, or both; that was strike two for him. It was possible that he was just a very fashion conscious guy, but with a response like that it was unlikely. "Not a fan of green on black..." Seyta looked down at the now empty drinks on the table. Honestly she didn't want another drink, she had three already. Taking a quick glance round the club she paused at the dance floor and flashed Maxwell an I'm bored smile. Here was his last shot, if he did this right she might let him walk her home. One wrong move and he'd be left on the curb.
>>"Did you know that the Goddesses love pomegranates?"
Goddesses, well not only did he have a cute accent he was old fashioned. Too old fashioned and it would just be another strike against him. "Nope, not much for ancient history." Still if that was an attempt at being compared to a goddess it was decent.
>>"Couldn't 'elp but notice your dress, Lord and Taylors, am I right?"
Seyta nodded, either Maxwell was very good at hiding it or he actually wasn't looking her over. It was worth the risk of finding out. "Yes it is, do you like it?" She scooted her chair back enough for him to get a good view. If his gaze lingered then he was just a pig like everyone else in the club, if it was just a glance and a compliment she might enjoy taking advantage of his kindness for the evening.
"They always have a nice selection for me when I go shopping." Not that she paid for this dress, or the others in her closet, but she wasn't about to tell Max that she was a thief. Besides it was thier fault for not giving an employee discount.
>> "...I may not know you, but I believe in you. You're not expendable."
Seyta nodded slowly, Lori seemed to know what she was talking about. Turning her gaze to Lenna she thought for a moment, special abilities was rather vague. Some people don't like being talked about though she Seyta let it slide, assuming she could have pressed the issue in the first place. "Name's Seyta, as for my mutation..." Explaining it wasn't the easiest thing ever. "People just, don't notice me. Honest its why I didn't worry about reading the letter."
That got introductions out of the way. What remained was how Lori would help Seyta. "So what do you suggest I do about this?" She waved the envelope slightly in her hands. In the back of her head Seyta knew she was giving in too easily but she didn't really care at the moment. "After my powers turn back on I'll probably be fine but until then I'm open for suggestions."
