The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jorge
It was SUCH a long day today. I was nearly one o’clock in the morning and Jorge was still up and just had barely managed to get away from a site. Double homicide with implications that it was done by a mutant. They had gathered everything that they could but with no witnesses, no motives, it was hard to get anymore work done. Jorge had been there as long as he was needed but by the end, he finally bid all his co-workers good night. There was little more that he could do until morning and he needed to get as much rest as he could since the next day was going to be just as busy.
Thankfully the site he just came from was none too far from the Mansion. A call to Gemma had allowed him crash at the Mansion for the evening since he was just far too tired to drive all the way home. He liked the mansion, it was usually quite peaceful.
So, after he pulled up in his Chevy Impala, waved at the guards, and made his way inside, Jorge yawned deeply. The Mansion was indeed very quiet; people slept peacefully, the few people up slinked around the halls, trying to not make too much noise to wake up others, it was a paradise compared to his long day. All he needed now was a bed and his fiancée to sleep next to.
Pulling off his brown leather bomber jacket, Jorge held it over his shoulder as he made for the stairs. He was dressed more casually than normal, in dark jeans, a long sleeved, light brown shirt and his badge at his belt. Upon reaching the top of the stairs he yawned again but he immediately sobered up when he coughed, hard.
He smelled smoke; a scent that was quickly followed by the telltale ringing of alarms.
Fire alarms? he thought as he snapped around to see. Not long after he turned he could already here the sounds of voices, of people yelling, asking what was going on, and trying to maintain order.
Jorge then spied the bellowing, black clouds of smoke that tore through one of the halls.
“Sh*t!” Jorge tossed his jacket said and bolted for the smoke filled hall. This definitely seemed like it needed the intervention of a water elemental.

Jorge
Jorge recognized a small number of those gathered. Many of them were still pretty young. Probably the oldest person here, Jorge was twice the age of. He really did not mind but it made him all the more dutiful to want to make sure that these kids and young adults really had a chance to live life instead of just throwing it into the face of danger again and again. But these people were adults and it was not like he was their father. So he remained silent and tried to make sure to not be the one to try to father everyone; they were adults so they could take care of themselves.
>> "I'll take three others with me to find the mutant."
Jorge nodded. He knew Shawn, worked with him before (more liked hurtled through time with him) so he respected the young man greatly. Plus he knew his strengths and his powers seemed like a good compliment to his own for trying to get through a building that gained sentient life. Therefore there was little doubt that he would want to team up with him.
The detective slipped away once the team was gathered and he boldly followed the man into the building. The second team was already doing a good job of keeping the place open. As soon as the few people inside caught the whiff of fresh air, they bolted. With that team to protect them, Jorge continued on with Shawn and the others.
Not long after he stepped into the room, though, he was stopped by a young man…with orange skin and blue hair. He tilted his head and nodded to his fellow X-Man.
>> "Ssir? I recommended checking the ssecurity camerass for cluess and recon, I am going to climb to the top out here, but I think that would be a good place to start. I requessted the officerss had the power cut in ten minutess, sso thats a limited time advantage." He then pointed to a door just behind the lobby's greeting desk. " The ssecurity camerass will be jusst through that door."
He bowed and turned to leave. Jorge nodded to him.
“Thanks for the tip!” he said as he turned to head back to Shawn and the others, eyeing the security room.
>> "Looks like we're going to need to find this person or we wont be able to get out….Whoever is doing this now knows that we're here. They won't make finding them easy. There's a reason this person is here and we don't know how they're doing this we need to get to them as fast as possible. Stay close and keep your eyes open for anything coming at us. The harder it is to go somewhere the better chance it is that we're getting closer to this person."
Jorge agreed.
“Shawn, I’ll check the security cameras, like…’he’…suggested. I’ll catch up. We got 10 minutes before the police shut down power to the building.” The detective then moved off, he would have to learn that boy’s name, to the security room, opened the door, and paused at the sight.
TVs everywhere, depicting every scene that was happening in the building. People were in a panic, furniture was going haywire, mayhem was breaking loose on every floor. But nowhere did he see a sign of any suspicious mutant causing this whole mess. He began to flip through the different views when suddenly…he heard someone yell…
>> "Spread out! Start clearing the building!"
Jorge spun around and quickly bolted out of the room. Down the way he saw Streak…fighting with a chair? It had sprung to life and looked ready to rend flesh from bone. Looking off to the side, Jorge spied a drinking water dispenser. That was going to have to be his weapon. Running over, Jorge kicked over the fountain that immediately dropped the large, plastic blue bottle and began to spill water everywhere. A twist of his wrist the water sprang to life and began to circle around him.
Just in time too since some diabolical copy machines were rolling towards him. He narrowed his as paper was flung in his direction. Jorge sidestepped it and summoned the water around him before he released it in a jet stream, sparking the copy machine to burn out. He pulled more water to him and readied to aid a fellow X-Man that would surely need it.
But just as the man started to stare down a small army of staplers that were clinking and hopping mad towards him, Jorge heard the buzz of his communicator. He scrambled to answer it as he backed away from a stapler that tried to clamp down on his foot.
>> "Jorge, can you give me your current position and hold? I'm coming in with backup. I think I might be able to use my powers to help find this guy."
“Copy that!” Jorge said as he kicked a particularly nasty heavy duty stapler off to the side. “We came in past the evac team! We are just past the lobby and security room. Be careful, they were not kidding about this place!” He then shouted over his shoulder to the rest. “Keep this position! Kealey is on her way and she may know how to find this gu—OOMPH!!”
Jorge had never been tackled by a file cabinet before. It hurt.

Jorge
Jorge liked this guy. He was too the point, he had an interesting story, but that did not mean he trusted him off the bat. Not that there was any reasoning to be suspicious of him or anything like that. The man was pretty forthright with his opinions and thoughts, but that was certainly not anything to knock him down about. No, there was something else that made the detective want to keep him in his line of sight, just in case.
Whatever it was, Jorge just had this feeling that there was something deeper about this man. He didn’t get the sense that he was lying to him, but he did think that there was definitely more under the surface than what Michael had shown him thus far. Maybe it was something important, maybe he was dangerous (well he obviously was), or maybe the man just liked being an enigmatic mystery. Whatever the case, though Jorge enjoyed his company, he would make sure to keep his ears and eyes open around him.
>> "Speakin' different perspectives…Why a Glock?"
Jorge glanced at his firearm. He smirked a little but responded in a most nonchalant way.
“Just always what I’ve been most comfortable with,” he responded. “I’ve tried others but glock has yet to let me down.” It was a simple enough answer, and the truth. The detective was a man who liked his comfort zones and one he became comfortable with something, it was hardpressed to make him change it.

Jorge had changed and made it to the scene faster than he thought he was going to. After he had changed, Jorge left Gemma behind and dashed out of the apartment and headed down for his car. Maybe he really shouldn’t have been taking his own car, but since he really did not have any other right, he did not argue with himself about it. This was going to be his first mission in uniform (thanks to that X-Man Kealey) so he needed to make sure that he not only represented X-Men, but also the police department that trusted him to work as their liaison. So Jorge was going to have to make a good impression.
Stepping out into the light he smirked a little as he glanced down at the X-uniform that had been custom made for him. He had to admit that it looked like it would have been rather encumbersome but that young woman certainly knew how to make a uniform. It breathed easily, yet still had strength, and it even under the jacket, the top was sleeveless so that he could easily slip back into the costume after he went water form.
All in all, he was pleased.
Pulling the X-communicator from his pocket, Jorge dashed for his car, slipped in, and revved the engine. It seemed like it was seconds before he managed to get out onto the road and was barreling towards the Crystal Tower.
****
The police were already there. Jorge spied the flashing red and blue lights as he drove up to the building and spied that it looked like a menacing sight already. It was huge and intimidating, and the knowledge that it was bustling instead with life just made everything all the more terrifying. He could only imagine what the people inside were going through. They needed to be gotten out, the mutant responsible needed to be found and, most of all, they had to keep people from getting killed.
Jorge pulled up to the police line just as pair of vehicles showed up. Instantly he recognized them as fellow X-Men; well some he recognized, the rest he had yet to be introduced to. Jorge had nodded to Gawain and, with a flash of his badge, the group had made their way into the fray while police officers everywhere tried to keep the populace and press back.
>> "All right... We need the doors open, the people out and in safety. It obviously doesn't want people leavin', so we're gonna pry it open in as many different places as we can, and keep it open until everyone's out. That is our priority. We also need a small team that goes in, scans the place, finds the mutant responsible, and shuts the building down. No lethal force, we are the good guys, but keep your wits about you. Anything can move on the inside. Keep your comms open. Ready? Let's see the teams."
Jorge nodded, blinked as one of the X-Men called out people and ran off with a sledgehammer. Someone was obviously very pleased with this mission. He smirked at that.
He then turned to Gawain and nodded.
“I can get in and scope out for survivors or the mutant causing this,” Jorge said with a nod. His powers, manipulating and turning into water, should be useful enough for him to get around even the tightest corners and locked doors. The detective joined whichever group was going to be heading in.
God…he hoped he was not going to get killed.
And DAMN did he look old standing amongst all the youngin’s.

Jorge
Jorge sighed as he sat in the back of an ambulance, letting the medics check his vitals, milling around him and asking him questions. Yes, he knew his name. Yes he knew who the president of the United States was. Yes, he knew what year it was. It was standard procedure for anyone who was a victim. And, as much as the detective did not like the prodding and vital checking, he let the emergency workers do their jobs. After all, they just wanted to make sure that he was okay.
After he had read Game Lord his rights, to which the man was scarcely conscious for, Jorge had called his precinct. They responded in minutes and Jorge was never so happy at that moment to see the badges of his brothers and sisters in duty.
Quickly the scene was investigated and was found to be completely clean of any member’s of Game Lord’s gang. Everyone fled the second that Simon had started his game with Jorge, not wanting to get in the crossfire of the mutant’s ire when Jorge had conquered the first level. So the whole time it had just been Jorge and Simon, alone in that building.
A review of surveillance tapes showed that Jorge was not exactly still during that whole adventure. While Jorge was indeed living out the scenarios in his mind, physically he was moving around and darting throughout the entire warehouse, taking on level after level. Jorge had to admit that the video did look rather silly, but at least that was all he did. Things could have gone much, much worse.
He sighed as he waited for the medic to finish checking his blood pressure. When he finally unstrapped it from his arm, the man nodded.
“Everything looks good detective. You’re lucky.”
“Don’t I know it,” Jorge said with a nod. As he climbed out of the ambulance and glanced down the way, he spied the second medic team wheeling Simon into the back of the ambulance. He still looked exactly like he did when Jorge found him. Apparently…no change. He sighed as he shook his head. The kid had brought it on himself.
Rubbing his sore shoulder the man turned and headed for the rest of his co-workers. He still needed to give his statement. But as soon as it was done…he was putting this day behind him…

Jorge
Jorge moved as fast as he could, trying to keep himself from shaking all over with weariness. He was exhausted from his excursions but he knew that he could not just lie down and give up. He needed to see this through to the end. Sure he was alive and back in the real world but if he let Simon escape now, who knows what other horrors he will commit once he regained his own strength. No, after everything Jorge had been through, he was simply not going to allow anyone else to have to go through them. He needed to act, and he needed to act fast!
Storming up to the room, Jorge kicked growled as he suddenly kicked out; the door didn’t stand a chance. A crack echoed through the empty building as the door was crushed in, falling off of to the side and barely hanging on by its bottom hinges. A snarl on his lips, the detective rushed into the room.
There, lying on the ground and half-conscious, was Simon LaRourke. The man looked almost like he had been lobotomized as he struggled to catch his own breath. Apparently having created such an elaborate set of levels, on top of having to contend with a very pissed off police detective, the man did not realize how much of himself he had put into that last level. He was barely breathing, eyes rolled up into his head as a thin layer of drool rolled out of the corner of his mouth. Every once and awhile he gave out a gasp of breath but that was the limitations of his moments.
Jorge sighed as he slowly walked up to the man and knelt down. All around Simon lay the broken glass from the nearby window. Apparently when Jorge was in the game he had somehow really affected the real world? He shrugged. He didn’t want to get under the logistics of it. Instead he merely narrowed his eyes as he glared at the man on the ground.
“Simon LaRourke,” he said, even if the man couldn’t hear him, “You are under arrest. You have the right to an attorney…”

Jorge
It was a building…just the interior of any, regular warehouse. And this definitely did not feel fake or seem like it was some computer game. He had made it back to the real world!! Quickly he glanced down to his belt and saw that there were no signs of all the weapons that he had collected during his adventure and all the cuts and bruises were long gone from his body. Wow, say what you will about Game Lord, but the little punk certainly had a power that was utmost and truly terrifying. Every wound he had received during the games felt so real! His mind made it real…
Shaking his head a bit, Jorge grunted as he climbed to his feet. His moved were sluggish and filled with grimaces but they at least let him know that he was still alive. And they felt real enough to the point that he could not argue the validity of this world. He was back, but first he needed to find someone.
Peering around, it looked like he was still in the warehouse he was investigating when he was first captured. It seemed that Game Lord had just kept him inside the whole time and did not even bother to lash him down. He probably figured that Jorge would have died in his little game but that being false must quickly have become apparently to the game manipulator.
He staggered as he took a step but Jorge kept his legs strong as he tried to look around, spying for anything sign of the man who had had just battled through four levels of mutant power against mutant power.
“Simon!! Where are you?!” he yelled out in a hoarse voice. He received no reply so he limped on, eyes scanning the abandoned interior of the building for any sign of the man or his flunkies. But it was the gasp for breath that immediately drew his attention.
Eyes narrowed, Jorge made straight for a room that was labeled “Supervisor” at the other end of the building and had a glass window broken in.

Jorge
Jorge gasped as he was suddenly washed over with a sense of complete and utter vertigo. The air rushed past his ears, the brightness of the world on the other side of his closed eyes was enough to make the man wince and cry out. So violent was his removal from this world that the detective was fairly certain that a lesser man would have probably perished in the process. But as every swept up and around him, suddenly the detective felt cold concrete against his back. He struggled and twitched before finally he just gasped.
“Huuuurk!” his stomach muscles contracted violently as he breathed in a deep breath.
The detective coughed and hacked as he felt the cold concrete against his back and slowly tried to open his eyes. He didn’t know what to expect this time or if Game Lord had pulled him into yet another level but it distracting enough that he forced himself to peered through the blurriness behind his eyes. It was just horrendous, the pain that he felt, but he needed to dig through in order to keep going.
Palms flat against the ground, the man struggled as he forced himself to sit upright and peered around. His eyes were still hurting, still blurry, but they were quickly trying to adjust. So far he saw only vague shapes and outlines but nothing seemed to be threatening just yet. But, as he finally sat up all the way and slouched over a bit, he rubbed his eyes once more, trying to clear them, before he looked around his surroundings.

He was getting sloppy. He didn’t not hide himself as he usually did during these games so far so Jorge figured that finally the man had slipped up enough for him to take advantage of. Standing in a clear window, it looked almost as if this game world was simply a virtual reality and that one window was the only place that Simon had forgotten to cover up. Stupid decision too since it was probably the way out as well. Jorge growled and spit off to the side. He was ending this now!
“OOooh! No witty comment!? You tired detective? You feel that finally you are going to lose!?”
Jorge didn’t dignify with a response as he spied a mountain of those tetris blocks, all leading up to the window that Game Lord had his back to. It was his opportunity and he was not going to let the man in on it.
He stood up, still and strong and waited as another block suddenly descended from the sky, aimed directly for him. In the back of his head he could hear Game Lord laughing maniacally but Jorge did not nothing and said nothing against it. Instead…he ran.
Blocks fell about him but he did not look back to see. Instead he continued to run and run hard, leaping over holes and dodging around blocks until finally he had reached the mountain. Quickly he started to climb, leaping from block to block and trying to steer clear of being crushed by the massive blocks. The whole time, he could hear Game Lord laughing but so far he seemed none the wiser about what Jorge was doing. That was at least a good thing. So Jorge climbed and moved across and over the multicolored blocks, rising higher and higher where it became harder to dodge. But he was relentless in his pursuit.
“You’re getting old, detective! You should just lie down and let me finish you off!! HEHEHEHEEH!!!! I WIN!! GAME OVER!!!”
“TURN AROUND!!”
Game Lord jumped at the sudden, very real voice that rang throughout his ears. He spun around, eyes wide with shock as he spied…a window. A window into his game that Jorge was standing on the other side of, a look of irritation, tiredness, and anger on his face.
“What?! NO! I…I covered it up! I…I…that shouldn’t be there…!”
Jorge raised his plasma cutter and pointed it directly at the window, the laser sights shining through and aiming directly at Simon’s chest.
“Game over!” he shouted as he squeezed the trigger. Glass shattered and suddenly it felt as it the entire world cracked and crumbled around the both of them.

Jorge
Jorge was at a loss for conscious thoughts. All he knew was that he needed to run and he needed to run fast! The block dropped with such a thunderous crash that Jorge was nearly deafened. But he kept running. Once the dust had settled though, he looked up around his dark landscape and realized that, indeed, he was standing inside of a large 3D game of Tetris. Blocks were already stacked before him and, even as that one block rained down from the sky, soon others began to descend as well.
“Oh crap,” the detective grumbled as suddenly he made another flying leap to get out of the way of yet another block. This was crashed down far closer to the him and the shockwave sent the officer sailing across the fielding.
Momentarily dazed, he lay there, stunned, trying to will his legs to move again. But he was so tired, so weary. He just wanted to rest for a moment but sound of rushing air (and that annoying music!) spurred him to growl and launch back up onto his feet. He rolled away not a moment too soon when another block crashed down.
“This is detective! I can play this forever!!! You aren’t walking out of this one! I WIN!! I WIN!!!!!”
But Jorge did not give up. A glance upward at the sky, he wanted to see where the next block was falling from but a glance up and he saw something strong. Someone was there, dancing about in a fit of joy like a fool and not even paying attention to the game going on. His eyes narrowed as he instantly recognized the figure from so many mug shots…it was Game Lord.

Jorge
Cautiously the detective moved through the darkness, eyes peeled and searching for any and all signs of his next possible level. Game Lord was beginning to get flustered, obviously, which meant that his constructs were beginning to fail. In that last game, it was terrifying and scary, but it clearly the man did not get it to function as he wanted it to. Instead he messed up and Jorge found himself an ally. He could only wonder what Game Lord’s next unfinished job was going to give him.
He hoped…a way out…
Still pushing himself forward, Jorge paused when he peered up ahead and spied something alit in the darkness. It did not seem like a doorway that he had been using so far; as a matter of fact it looked like something that was unfinished and just floating in the middle of the air. The small, green series of blocks just floated there and Jorge had to tilt his head curiously. It looked far too familiar. Like something from his own youth.
“Tetris?” was all he said as he peered closely at the piece. Slowly he reached out to touch it, but just as his fingers were about to graze the flat surface, he heard a panicked voice in his head. Game Lord was still ranting.
“No, not that. He’ll figure that! He’s almost to the exit! I have to keep working, I have to make something else! I need to figure something that can kill him!!!”
“So far you still haven’t.” Jorge thought, harshly.
“What?! ARGH! NO! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!! I’M NOT READY!!!!!”
There was a suddenly flash of light and an odd music quickly filled the air. Jorge opened his eyes, squinting at the sight, looking up just in time to see a massive version of that block he just touched come barreling down at him.

Jorge smirked as he continued to walk through the darkness. Though he was exhausted and wanted nothing more for this whole ordeal to be over, he knew that he was not going to rest until he had Game Lord instead of cell with a shock collar around his neck. Judging by everything he had gone through so far, it was obvious that the man was insane and he needed to be locked away for a long time with absolutely no use of his powers. But Jorge could not make that happen until he got to him.
Having gone through all these twisted worlds, he knew the level of depravity that Simon was capable of. Maybe these games were not entirely created by him, but the simply face was that he used some already questionable material out in the world and tortured and maimed people! That was something that the good detective simply could not let continue.

“How…how does he keep doing this! It is not fair! He is a cheater! He should have died or gone crazy by now! What is this man capable of? So far everything I have constructed, he found a way to plow through it as if it were tissue paper. This does not make any sense. Anyone would have surely given up by now! I’ve had mercenaries cringe and fall to their knees in crying fits and yet this man keeps getting back up again and again and again!!”
The voice echoed throughout the darkness. It was the voice of panic, of fear, of knowing that everything was going to become undone. Normally the voice of Game Lord held such power and madness behind him. A madness that had a love for games and for making people suffer. But now, that was voice was cracking, wavering as it tried to find some sense courage to keep going. But it was obvious that Game Lord was far too discouraged to really keep his focus.
After all, how could he have possibly missed turning Isaac against the detective?! It just seemed so amateur that the maniacal gaming mutant wanted to punch himself for it.
Damn that detective for being so distracting! Damn him for not stopping!
“Why won’t you just die! Die! DIE!!!?!” he thought fiercely.
“Because, I’m coming after you with everything I have.”
Game Lord gasped. “What?! How’re you…?!”
“Seems like you left the channel open.” Jorge’s mental voice was so assured that it almost sounded as if there was a sneer in on his face as he thought it. “You ready Simon? Because I think I just reached the last level…”

>> "Well... I have only recently returned, and I spent most of the time in bed, recovering from.. well, their return…I have not even had much time to wander around yet, which is probably why I have not noticed you there either. Though, it is nice to know that we will no longer hand to meet each other in parks or hospitals."
Jorge had to arch a brow at her comment. In bed the whole time she was at the mansion? Recovering from…what? The detective immediately wanted to investigate to see what was going on but he did not dare say anything out loud. Not right now since he did not want Andrea to feel like he was prying into her life. But he would indeed take a look to make sure that everything was on the up and up with her and her…rescue…
But he did have to admit that it was good to know that she was so close by. Not that they were best friends but he still worried about her and always wanted to make sure that she was okay. Her altercation with the Lion Man was a terrifying one and he only wanted to make sure that she was okay.
Also…she made AWESOME cookies. Maybe he could just happening to be hanging around while she made some? It was just an idea.
>> "I hope to have everything worked out soon, so that I will be able to join the community once again. I have been a shut in for far too long…I suppose I should also try and contact my parents. They are probably worried sick about me, after so long without speaking to them.."
He nodded. He could only imagine what her parents might think of the situation. How much did they actually know about their daughter and everything that she experienced here? It was question probably saved for another time. Or maybe he would just wait until she decided to speak on it herself.
>> "I will probably run into you a lot more now... This is the first time I have been out of Saphirus' room in three days."
Jorge chuckled but didn’t really say much. He really did not want to even think was Andrea’s exile into this Saphrius’ room for three days was like. Probably something he shouldn’t even be thinking of anyways. But a glance to his wrist and immediately the detective blinked. He needed to head back to the mansion….huh…
He smiled as he turned to Andrea.
“You know, I have a meeting at the mansion,” he explained. “Let me give you a ride home,” he said as he stood up from the bench, holding his treasured basket of cookies.

>> "I've thought about it. Not sure it's the right fit fer me. Blue idn't really my color and private military, defense contracting, pays better.”
Jorge nodded in an understanding manner. He had to admit that police work really was not right for everyone. The cheap pay, the possibility of cuts, etc., all of it made the job a difficult and especially if one were going into it hoping for more. But the detective, despite the downfalls, did love his job. It wsas not for everyone but far be it from him to actually deny anyone their opinion. If Michael here didn’t think it was a fit, so be it.
“Sometimes you just gotta go where the better pay is,” the detective nodded. After all, people still had to be able to make a living.
>> "I'm also use t' a higher level of autonomy an' a policy of shoot them all let God sort them out."
Jorge smirked. That was a definitely a far cry from his own mentality, but to each their own. The detective would have always rather shot as a last resort. But for some people it was a matter doing what needed to be done at any cost. He respected the man for that, even if it did make him sound a little unnerving.
His expression remained cordial though.
“Different perspectives,” Jorge nodded in an almost salutatory manner. “Keeps the world spinning ‘round.”
