The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Shula was pleased that the girl had chosen to run. For one, it left her with less clean up to do before the cops arrived. The police, ah there was a problem. well, no use wasting a perfectly good glass ball. She sized up the building the girl was standing on, took three steps forward and threw the ball of glass at her. The force behind it may have propelled it slightly higher than the roof of the building, which all in all wasn't very high. Luckily for Shula the girl was the only one that knew of her mutation. Sure, others assumed, but none actually knew. She didn't wait to see what happened, she turned, and walked to the end of the alley. The opposite end to that which she had entered.
Well if she died they won’t find much more than bones in glass.
Shula was down to a possible five more shots. This displeased her with a definite hostile person around. Her exiting the alley was perfectly timed with the sound of screeching tires at the other end. She had crossed the road and moved to the back of the crowd completely unnoticed by the time the backup had come to close off the other end of the alley. It was a good getaway. Possibly the girl would just leave her be, although she did seem to be a nut job.
She will be killed, or at least stopped, if she tries anything.

Shula felt something rush past her rather swiftly. It smashed into one of the thicker portions of glass in the alley and all but shattered it. This was not acceptable. If it was that girl throwing things at her there would be hell to pay. Shula swung around and spotted the insane creature. By now the end of the alley was clear of people. Sirens blared in the distance, warning of police. Shula glared at the girl, so it would come to a fight. Her heels weren't exactly what she'd call her preferred shoes for the situation but they would have to do. Shula was prepared to kill the girl. Kill her dead. Shula considered herself lucky, given the circumstances, that the heavy fence had missed her, albeit by a rather narrow margin. Had it struck her, she likely would have been injured quite badly.
Time to learn some manners.
Shula noted with a smile the blood coming from the girl's leg. So she would be starting with that tiny advantage would she? But where was the tell tale glow of the glass still embedded in her? Even when supercooling it would not have gone down to nothing so soon. "Interesting fact, glass melts at a temperature of 1996 Kelvin. The only acid known to dissolve glass is hydrofluoric acid and apparently whatever you're made of," She didn't like that bit, but it was a reality she was dealing with. She had paused simply to summon a small ball of molten glass, hovering slightly above her now outstretched hand, directly beside her. ",But no acid is going to save you from being burned to a cinder. Shula used her other hand to perform the well known bring it on hand gesture.

The girl was quite clearly unstable. Shula could see that from her wild paranoia. It almost amused her. Had it not been for the way the girl seemed to think she was in any way capable of damaging Shula she may have genuinely been humoured. However the girl was making a scene. A large scene. Shula didn't have either the time or the inclination to care about the girl. It was beneath her. She finished her coffee, broke a piece off her muffin and nodded to the girl. Half the cafe stood poised for action, the other half was already taking it. One had a cell phone out. Shula had owned the same model, the tone noises were familiar. 911. It was laughable anyway; should anything happen most of the staff were mutants. One in particular, the waitress always inconspicuous in the corner, could just about throw a car from a block away. It was part of the reason Shula visited the Cafe.
Puny girl. Should return to her ward.
Shula stood and laughed gently, but audible to the entire store. "I'm going to leave now. As little as the lives of the people here mean, they do make the best coffee in New York. Now you go home, and we pretend this never happened." Like hell. Lawyers would descend upon the girl in a storm of paper, and she would sue her for the very mask on her face. All she needed was the girl to look up at her momentarily. Recent violence had lead to most angles of the store being covered by cameras. The one that wasn't was down. The business woman picked up the rest of her muffin, and launched the tiny bead of glass kept invisible under the table, controllable on such a level only by the merit of having little mass, directly at the girl's shin. See her walk after that. It would be blamed on another patron, they were panicky enough to make it believable.
I hope that damages her irrevocably.
Shula, with no patience for the situation, left the store at a brisk, calm walk. She would feel in control for a while, the confrontation had thus far gone well. The girl may even have ended up with a half inch across ball of glass living in her leg, fused by the heat. Shula headed for home, taking a quick turn down one of her alleys, marked as such by the glass covering most of it. She had the normal alley goers leaving her offerings of glasses and bottles, afraid of her wrath coming down upon them. She wouldn't have bothered with them, but they were too frightened to NOT be useful. Shula picked up a wine glass and flicked it with as much force as her flinger held. It cracked in on itself. She picked up one chip and put it in her mouth, chewing carefully.

The girl, with her mask, the one who looked as if she was in a rush. A panicked rush. She didn’t need that type of person near her. Was she an employee, is that why she had approached? Shula was sure she hadn’t hired or promoted anyone that paranoid about germs and disease, it was a bad trait in an office where multiple people handled every document. So it was concluded that the girl did not work for her. Therefore she was under no obligation to tolerate her. However as she opened her mouth the girl spoke. The words silenced the whole café. Such defiance had occurred once before in the eatery, and it had not gone well for the other party.
Who on Earth does she think she is?
Shula’s glare turned icy. Daggers were shot from her eyes, to use a tired cliché. The barista was already on is way over. He couldn’t help the girl though; arrogance could not be tolerated in those who could not afford it. ”Your seat? Young lady, who do you think you are? I will have you know I have sat in this seat my every visit to this establishment and not once seen YOU in here, let alone in this seat. I have the power to completely shatter your life. Now remove yourself from my vicinity if you wish to see another sunrise.” The entire shop was listening, but they wouldn’t have heard the final threat, Shula was keeping her voice to a low but deadly whisper. They would be waiting to see how the young girl reacted. Shula had seen the situation wherever she went, it was old hat to Shula, and she knew how to play it. Act the super-powerful business woman she was and they would all back down, and no one would dare question her for months. A tiny ball of glowing glass orbited her hand at close proximity, invisible to the shop behind her handbag, a small seared patch forming on the table. The other girl would almost certainly notice. She seemed the paranoid type.

One needed for a Shula thread, prefferably someone either evil (yes you orderlings), quasi Evil (I'm looking at you taking over the world types when I say that) or, just about anyone who would like a thread with Shula. Visible mutation may get you a better first impression but not necessary.

Heels clicked against the floor of the building's foyer. Rotating doors were walked through. Cool spring evening air flooded her face. She smiled to herself. Lower employees made a clear path for her. All business she strode through the gap and smiled sweetly, and fakely, to each of them. She had a presence here. They could almost sense her approach. Whispers would pass ahead of her as the first person noticed she was there, and would quickly spread trough the entire crowd in seconds. It was a well-rehearsed routine. All they had to say was Nasser and everyone would know. Like dominoes the sequence would spread outward from the starting point. It was the kind of power few wielded in a group the size of a company, but she had it.
Someone better have my damned coffee on my desk on time tomorrow or she will be finding herself jobless.
Her phone buzzed in her breast pocket. She refused to keep it in her handbag, she didn't need to open it every time someone sent her a message. However it buzzed much to fast to be a message. She reached into the pocket with her free hand and retrieved the small electronic device. She slid it to the open position and put it to her ear. "What is it Janice?" She paused in her walking momentarily, and the group recoiled slightly, moving further away from her by instinct. "What do you mean they cancelled their contract? Why do I need to sign off on that, isn't that John's job?" Her voice was kept calm. The calm spelled doom."I don't care what he thought Janice, it is his job no matter how big the account." She forced herself not to raise her voice, it frustrated her when people couldn't comprehend the simplest things. "Well then Janice, you get him on the phone and tell him I want his report on the matter on my desk tomorrow when I arrive, along with my latte or someone is going to not have a job by noon. Goodbye Janice." She slid the phone to closed and tucked it back away.
John is going to need to be spoken to about his work ethic.
She strode on fully down the stairs of the building to the pavement. She had forsaken motorised transport for the day in preference of offering her patronage to one of the cafes she frequented, a small yet ridiculously up market cafe to be precise. It did mean however she had to move among people who could very well be plotting her downfall. She switched to alert and strode into the main crowd, crossing two roads and managing to remain unharmed. In particular she watched anyone not exhibiting any mutation. Humans may be weak, but they had numbers, and they had struck before.
Vulgar rats, vermin of the earth yet so necessary for the running of society.
She arrived at her destination to the sound of more "Nasser"s. Clearly they had spotted her through the glass. Her usual coffee and muffin were on the counter before she had even opened her purse. She took out twenty dollars and placed it on the counter, picking up her drink and food before proceeding to the corner table, where she had a view of the entire store. Her usual order only cost thirteen dollars. She sipped the coffee. Perfect as usual. They wouldn't dare be anything less. The tension in the room made her smile. The smile of the untouchable.
Let them quake in their shoes, they are all expendable, and it is good that they know it.

Individual
Character's full name: Shula Nasser Alias/ Nickname/ Code name:Madam Chief Operating Officer. (Mutant code to come later if it is given, first in best dressed children.) Gender: Female Age:32 Birthday: Born 26th of March 1978 Nationality/ Ethnicity: American / Middle-Eastern Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: N.Y.C.
Appearance
Hair colour and style:Dark brown-Black, slightly past shoulder length. Eyes:Brown Height: 5' 7" Build: Comfortably fit. Visible mutation: fingernails and hair glassy in appearance. Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Ears, has multiple sets of earrings but mostly just respectable studs, belly button, from her younger years, a glass rod, approximately enough to form a very small ball of molten glass, a last resort emergency getaway strategy. Normal mutant wear and tear barely visible scars. Considers tattoos a waste of money. Other features:
Everyday clothing style:Women’s business clothing. Prefers skirts, she didn’t waste time in the gyms for nothing, but pants will do given circumstances (such as wash day). No nail polish or gloves. Uniform:Not currently applicable Sleepwear:Black satin nighty, in winter with extra blankets. Miscellaneous clothing:Heels if out and about, if not, something respectable but comfortable.
Character
Personality: She likes to look like she has power. Because she does. Both in a corporate sense, and as a mutant. She finds humans petty, and thinks they worry about too much, which is an example of their underlying inferiority. They are vulnerable. She is not. She tries to emanate a sense of confidence and superiority. Under it all though, she is insecure. She feels that both her gender and her species are working against her in her life, and that humans are constantly trying to keep her down; especially the male ones, which is odd given they have assisted her in her promotion to such a high position. It’s likely why she hasn’t had a boyfriend, consistently at least, since high school. When stressed she bites her nails, and occasionally, when alone, chews her hair. Both contain glass, the pure silicone dioxide type. It isn’t conscious, but she does it to keep up her glass levels, as large amounts go into maintaining those features. Her bad habits don’t show as the glass from them returns to them within twelve hours if she has a reasonable stock of glass already in her system. Largely however she is not afraid to step on people to get where she needs to be, and those that get in her way soon find that their divorce or pay docking isn’t even the least of their worries. Her relationships tend to begin and end in one night. Occasionally a couple of dates depending on how much they spend, as well as... other factors. Hobbies/ Interests:Getting power, maintaining that power through fear and hard work, mainly others. Occasionally she likes to prove to herself that she is better than the humans, just subtle disappearances here and there, people who just never show up again. Job or part time job and description: not too many steps away from being top of the food chain, she is the Chief Operating Officer, in charge of the day to day running of the business, in her case, a large civil construction firm who desperately needed a high ranking female, and a high ranking mutant. She cashed in on that, but has been insecure ever since. It is mostly her job to report to the CEO on how the day to day operations are going and to delegate boring actual work to the lower downs. Fears/ phobias/ concerns:Losing her power, being caught in a situation where she cannot win, another human movement against mutants. Special talents: Cashing in on opportunities.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Contemptuous, thinks others below her and has no qualms killing and torturing those in her way.
Mutations
Mutation description: The ability to produce and control molten glass. For this she must have glass in her system, which must be obtained orally. As such she eats a lot of glass, and has learned what contains the most silicone dioxide, as it is only the SiO2 (compound making up quarts when crystalline and glass when it is supercooled from a liquid) she can use, the impurities simply pass through her. Glass, when not in use is stored as a coating around her bones, which grows and diminishes depending on intake to output ratios. Molten glass is over 2300 degrees centigrade, and as such can do serious damage. She can control it to form balls or other forms, which she can ‘throw’, only similar to the action because she chooses to go through the motions, she really doesn’t need to. Control extends twenty feet, weakening in control levels as it approaches the limits. She can alter the course of the glass only very slightly and less as it goes out, generally can only pick a single direction and try and turn it in time if it goes off course. Glass does not begin to cool until outside the radius, at which point it cools drastically fast and reforms normal glass. If molten glass touches something other than her it also begins to cool at the same rate. Glass takes five minutes to digest when she is in fight or flight mode, thirty minutes normally. Strengths:
· Strong ranged attacks.
· Strong melee attacks if it comes to it.
· Good source of heat.
· Easy to come by ‘ammo’.
· Can project molten glass in various ways such as streams, balls, splashes and splats.
· Glass will hold a broken bone once it has been realigned.
Weaknesses:
· Must constantly eat glass to maintain power, which can be nastily hazardous to the mouth.
· Not enough intake means no powers.
· Excess intake results in stiffness and joint pain, as well as rapid nail growth at a noticeable rate over a day. Far too much can cause paralysis until she syphons the glass off.
· Can only fire up to three large (20cm diameter) balls of glass or 6 small (10cm diameters) balls on an average intake of glass.
· Cannot affect normal glass, or molten glass that she did not produce.
· Breaking bones can lead to serious internal injuries from lacerations.
Secondary mutation description:Heat resistance, up to temperature of her own glass while power is being used. Not active at other times. Strengths:
· Allows her to use her power without burning herself.
· If she is attacked with heat when using her power she is not hurt.
Weaknesses:
· Does not protect her any other time.
· When it is active she is more vulnerable to cold and psychic attacks.
· Can sometimes lead to lack of clothing and other items on her person depending how long she holds it near her.
Fighting Style
Explanation: BOMBARDMENT! She bombards her foe with molten glass, preferred form being small balls or splats thereof. If that fails she runs and hopes to find a bottle or window. Pros for fighting style:
· Fast, ranged, and she has multiple shots depending on size.
Cons for fighting style:
· She only has three to six substantial shots (one if she uses a super ball, but that has never been used before, and she can only give it one direction due to its mass.)
· She’s not terribly fast in heels.
Faction Allegiance Unaffiliated
History Of Your Character
Shula Nasser was born into a family of rich immigrants. Rich being a subjective term. They were rich for immigrants. Indeed they slotted in perfectly into lower upper class. Society treated them well, because they were wealthy. It always had worked like that among society hasn’t it? People were accepted because they had money. Their own money had come from their father’s lawyer job and mother’s corporate success.
When Shula was born, they were officially citizens in the United States for two years. She never knew a life where she wasn’t more powerful than her friends, or those she tolerated because they did work for her. After arriving in America her parents had continued their careers, although her father had gotten his degree in law for a second time. Their family invested their money into accounts with high interest rates and enjoyed a life of affluence.
High school had been nothing extraordinary. She studied, she did well, she had some followers, who liked to hang with her because she always had the newest thing, and would do anything to use it. She never had to do her own homework, which left plenty of room open for studying the relevant bits her own way. Not long after her womanly cycle started ( which was later than most of her friends ) Shula began wanting to eat glass. Her parents stopped her with stern words and buzz-kill attitudes. Instead, she took up boys, who seemed remarkably manipulable and were in the end her favourite toy. A kiss here, allowing a slight feel there and they were her greatest tool. She ditched them when they started wanting too much and ran through quite a few boyfriends before her final year, when she finally stayed with one guy for the whole year.
It was when their Shula was eighteen that she started eating glass. She had had the compulsion for years, but had never been able to, as he parents kept a very close eye on her. On the day she gave in to the compulsion, aside from rather nasty cuts in her mouth, Shula accidentally discharged a stream of molten glass when frightened by movements in the shadows outside her home. The stream killed her neighbour’s cat. Luckily she was leaving for a university course in corporate management. She didn’t end up explaining how the corpse of their cat managed to get encased in glass.
She completed her course without event, but for a few mutant outbursts, but those were mostly kept quiet. No one had known but her for years, and she was slowly gaining control of it, finding out how it worked. She figured out that if she concentrated she could shape and guide the glass discharge, and that it didn’t hurt her while she was using her power, but even when glass is self supercooling, it is extremely hot for several minutes to hours afterwards. She began to practice with it. She used any opportunity given to her to use her powers to help her understand them.
Out of Uni, which had gone well, graduating above average, she found employment with a construction company desperately in need of female employees. She had been promoted rapidly through the ranks, until the camps. The camps had pulled her out of her high paying position of prestige and power, and dropped her into not only an attitude of contempt for humans, but also anger, resent, for her time behind bars. Then what? The camps had ended, they were free, and she was put back into her job like nothing happened. No-one mentioned it to her, except some anti-mutant employees who felt that their female mutant boss aught to have been kept in the camps forever. One by one, they stopped bothering her. Permanently. She received one final promotion, riding on the back of the hard work of others, and the demotion of a defamed male predecessor, thoughtfully going around with some… hired female professionals. One too many photographs had come in, and the company desperately went into damage control, and so she became Chief operating officer, in charge of actually running the firm. It worked for her, she enjoyed delegating.
In the time since high school she had run through twenty men, give or take, a year. She did have needs, after all. No man lasted more than a month
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?:Google Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who:Cafas Sample RP:
Shula stepped from the building. Corporate HQ, New York, New York. The only job she had ever worked. She wielded power over everyone below her. She could ruin their lives or make them great. It just depended on how much work they were willing to take from her. It felt good, being so utterly… powerful. She didn’t offer promotions easily however, much less easily in fact than she offered a pay cut or a sacking. The best part, by the time she hit forty, she would be in the top job, should the trends in the company keep up. Women and mutants promoted through the ranks as fast as possible. People of foreign descent, the non whites, all shooting up into the top jobs, and she, she had it all.
’Fools, avoiding law suits that will more likely than not never turn up, and even if they do, never be won. The law is not so kind to those with less money.’
She strode with confidence, not faltering in her heels, her skirt the only restriction to her movements. It was her lunch hour. However her lunch hour tended to go on a little longer than others, something about having no one that checked in on her. Her ‘in’ box would be stacked high however, and her email overflowing. Most of it, however, she would stamp a sticker onto and put into the out tray, or forward on. Really, anything important was labels as such, and all her job entailed really was giving the nod to or sending back papers to be redone or filed. She had to present a report to the board that week however. It was vitally important that she had that done; by someone else.
’I’ll get Suzanne to give me a summary of the important things, I’ll go from there. Possibly a presentation would be good, I’ll have matthew draw up the charts.’
Someone bumped her. HER! They were lucky she didn’t spill her coffee on herself! The suit had cost quite a bit. Regardless, such blatant disregard for her power could not be ignored. She wheeled around, only to find that one of her employees, a young man in his early twenties, a degree in civil engineering if she was correct, had already told the perpetrator to watch where they were going, in words much different. She smiled at him ”Thank you Clark. I’m glad to see some people still have manners.” When he smiled she turned away, letting her anger fade away. Killing was frowned upon in broad daylight.
’Simpleton. But I must remember where I am.’
She veered down an alleyway. It was familiar to her, she knew it was a shortcut to her destination. It was always free of undesirables too, for some reason or another. Possibly the fact it was clearly used often by a mutant of considerable power. She smiled to herself. It assisted in venting, the alley way, quite a lot. She fired a small glass ball at the wall on her right. It hit the bricks and began to set rapidly, passing its glass transition temperature before it could crystallise. It simply added to the glassy centre of the alleyway, one corner out of view from either street it linked to. Glass on every surface, stopping short of forming a ceiling.
