The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Ms. Lockhart. Mrs. Lockhart was my mother and if I ever become her it will be in your job description to shoot me." She was serious about that. They shook hands. Serena had no love lost for her family's legacy. Or the family itself.
>>"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to meet with you today. I'm very excited about the opportunity to possibly join your team."
Excited indeed.
"Please take a seat" Serena walked back to the bar to pour herself a drink. "Tea? Coffee? Cocktail? And before you think too hard, this is not a test."
It is an elegant, leather-bound, two-ring weekly planner, with custom-made pages that can be added in and organized. The leather is monogrammed, obviously. Comes with a very expensive fountain pen. Serena plans to enchant the pages and the ink later on so only she can read it.
"Shut the hell up" (snap spell)
Exactly what it sounds like. Creates a cone of silence on the caster, or on one person she aims at (as long as they are within earshot). The spell is activated by the snapping of the caster's fingers on a hand that wears a tourmaline earring (which is the focus of the spell. Tourmaline is the gemstone that promotes peace of mind.)
"Dirty little secret"
This spell uses a pearl as a focus, and works best around the time of the full moon (because pearls are attached to lunar magic and secrets). By touching the pearl to a liquid, it puts a truth-charm on the person who drinks it. Strength of the spell depends on how much they drink, but generally, it ranges from lowering inhibitions to full on making people blurt things out they would never say in public otherwise. (If the liquid is not drunk within an hour or so, the spell dissolves.)
Serena was still fairly new to the world of the Welldrinkers, and wielding actual, bona fide, f*ck-the-laws-of-nature powers. She knew a total of two spells confidently, but she was experimenting with more, and she possibilities were seemingly limitless. She would have to work and study hard for her skills to catch up to her creative vision. Luckily, she had never been afraid of hard work.
Talking about: she had a job interview scheduled for this morning. She usually let HR handle that kinda stuff, especially when it came to boring personnel like accountants. But this time, she decided to make an exception: next to all the drones working for House of Lockhart, she also needed a new personal accountant to handle her expenditures and holdings and whatnot. With her experiments in magic, she was going to need to make more frequent purchases of luxury items. And since someone seeing all those numbers was likely to be a more intimate relationship than she'd had with her last five boyfriends, she wanted to select the person herself.
She also wanted to give her neat little spell another test run.
Serena sat in her office, complete with a very well stocked personal bar. Cocktails, tea, coffee, even sparkling water: whatever her guest would ask for, she could work with it.
Hopefully, this would be the beginning of a very lucrative work relationship.

Everyday clothing style: Ex-pen-sive. Serena is the CEO of a very high end fashion house, so obviously, she's gotta represent. Everything is tailor made, sleek, on point, whatever the kids wanna call it (they can't afford it anyway). She likes bold colors, and wears her outfits like armor. Fancy hats, however, are cheap, unless you are visiting actual royalty, thank you. She usually looks taller than she actually is, thanks to the break-neck heels and the attitude. She wears jewelry expensive enough to look tasteful. Uniform: It's a lifestyle, baby Sleepwear: Silk Miscellaneous clothing: Sensible heels are for quitters.
Character
Personality: You can't spell 'witch' without a B. Here is her "40 under 40" interview trivia:
"Serena believes mental health is vital for success, and advocates for more accessible mental health services." (Fact: She has her issues buried so deep they are turning into oil as we speak)
"Serena is friendly and approachable, and always has time for the public." (Fact: “Touch me again, Karen, and I will end your career for seven generations”)
"Serena recently established a scholarship for young talents in the fashion industry!" (Fact: One of them is bound to make tolerable coffee one day)
"Serena leads an active and balanced lifestyle, and has her personal yoga routine!" (Fact: “Yoga pants are where dreams go to die, and if you think alcohol is not the solution, your liquor is not expensive enough.”)
"Serena donates to many charities, including animal shelters and foster homes" (Fact: “If I throw money at them, they won’t come to my house, right?”)
"Serena’s dream date is candlelight dinner on board of a ship!" (Fact: She bought the ship. And the candles. And the dinner. And possibly the date.)
"Serena is currently single, waiting for that Special Someone to sweep her off her feet!" (Fact: It will probably be an assassin)
Hobbies/ Interests: Those are for laypeople. She does enjoy traveling and cocktails, though. Job or part time job and description: CEO of the Lockhart fashion empire. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Poor people. Special talents: For all her high end living, Serena is actually not bad at the practical parts of her job. Once upon a time she was good at designing, drawing, and even sewing and embroidery. She doesn't get to exercise it much anymore, but her professional pride is still based on it.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Self-serving. Serena is not an evil or intentionally cruel person, but she is the embodiment of privilege and entitlement. And since she has a lot of deep seated childhood issues, she is very hard to crack to get to the soft mushy insides she keeps denying even exist. She is also not very big on rules that apply to average people. Money makes a lot of bad things go away.
Feelings toward Mutants: Suspect. She doesn't have an overall prejudice, she likes to judge strangers by power on an individual basis. Some powers are useful and potentially lucrative. Others are just freaky. Tough luck.
Feelings toward Humans: Meh.
Feelings toward Adapteds: Those are not on her radar yet, but she would probably have a strong feeling of meh.
Magic
Arcana Praeditus: Metation
Arcana Initium: Aceision
Preferred Foci: Gemstones and other expensive materials, as well as potions (usually in the form of cocktails)
Magical Theme: Luxury magic. Gemstone magic (don't you dare call them crystals, crystals are cheap and they are for hippies) and potion magic. The more expensive and rare the ingredients, the better.
Snap Spell: "Shut the hell up." (creates a cone of silence over her or over another chosen person)
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Serena is not exactly an athletic person. She keeps herself tolerably fit, but she gets away with the bare minimum of it. Fighting Style: That's what security is for. Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Security is dumb.
History Of Your Character
Serena Atia Lockhart was born into a wealthy New York family as the youngest of three girls. Their parents, owners of the Lockhart fashion empire, put their children through rigorous private education; knowledge was power, wealth was safety, appearances were everything, and emotions were a weakness. They often pitted their three daughters against each other in severely competitive scenarios to assess their personal strengths and flaws, and keep them away from distractions (such as sibling solidarity).
Serena cracked under pressure as a teenager. She started rebelling against the rigor and cruel competitiveness of her family. Her parents promptly diagnosed her rebellion as a mental breakdown, and they used their money to find a psychiatrist who agreed. Serena was shipped off to a mental institution in upstate New York, where she spent the next year until she managed to escape an run away to the West Coast. She put her determination and attitude to work, and with the help of a few wealthy (albeit dumb) patrons she began building her own life. By the time she was 30 she had her own fashion company and a wealth of money and connections. Her mother died in the meantime, and her two sisters took over the family business. Serena began looking for ways to enact her revenge.
This was about the time she encountered the Welldrinker Cult. Never a particularly esoteric or spiritual people, she saw the potential in them nonetheless, and the edge magic powers could give her in taking back what was hers. The cult leaders on their part saw potential in Serena's influence and resources. The fact that she proved to be a dedicated and adept student of magic was an added bonus. At the end of 2020 Serena relocated to New York once again, and began a magically aided and carefully planned hostile takeover of her family's business. Her father passed away from a heart attack (a happy coincidence, honest), and once Serena began to flex her literal and metaphorical powers, her sisters scrambled for cover. As of early 2021, Serena is not only an aspiring mystic, but also the majority owner and CEO of the Lockhart empire.

Serena looked at the pair of exquisite South Sea pearl earrings, appreciating the craftsmanship almost as much as the irony. They were a family heirloom, passed down from mother to daughter until her paternal grandmother decided to hand them off to her, as the last birthday gift before everything went to sh*t. Serena was fairly sure the gift was essentially a big, passive-aggressive middle finger to her mother, and she was intent on keeping the earrings within the family feud.
In a whole other tradition that she was just beginning to familiarize herself with, pearls meant purity, lunar powers, and secrets. She was not sure about the middle one there yet, but it was definitely a happy coincidence that this banquet was scheduled for a full moon night. Serena whispered some carefully selected words over the pair of earrings, feeling a surge of magic as she touched the pearls gently, before she put the earrings on. They completed her look nicely, and they would be right at hand when she needed them.
An old story came to her mind, one often quoted by people who liked to flaunt their wealth. Apparently, Cleopatra once made a bet with Mark Anthony about who could throw the more expensive feast. At the end of her evening, she took off one of her invaluable pearl earrings, dissolved it in a cup of vinegar, and drank it. Serena smirked at the mental image. What a waste of perfectly good jewelry. But still, points for style.
She was looking forward to seeing how the spell would work tonight. Alcohol usually loosened tongues anyway... and now she had the extra little something to make her time worth it.
