The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She had been about to avoid it, really. Her own way of avoiding things though. The bike and it's rider would have passed harmlessly through her as she phased the portions of her body that had been in it's path.
Things changed however when Mr. One in a Million decided to literally be a hero and help her avoid the bike in his own way. She snapped back into a solid in an instant, a little caught off by the flourish he used. Apparently they were dancing now.
People stopped on the side walk to stare for a moment, the bicyclist continued on without looking back. Juniper blew a few strands of blond hair from her eyes and grinned.
"In a way, yes, but i'm much happier here in your arms."
She walked two fingers up his broad chest coyly.
Assuming she was ever put back on her feet, she was ready to get back on the road. "So, we're apartment complex buddies huh? Guess that means i'll always be close by should you need anything." She did a pretty good eyebrow waggle if she did say so herself.
"oh, you know the story?" She took it back, he wasn't dumb, just suuuper thick. Hopefully in more ways than one. "You have a valid point. We have only just met. I suppose i'll give it some time."
She spun back around to face him as everyone started across a cross walk, seemingly unconcerned with watching where she was going. A woman walking toward her hurried out of the way while shooting her a dirty look.
"I do. I live in the apartments down the street from here." She pointed a thumb over her shoulder nonchalantly. "Just moved in a few months ago!" A white lie. It had only been a few days. But with her most recent robbery hitting the news in the state she was originally from she had to start an alibi somewhere.
A bicyclist not obeying the flow of traffic, or the laws for that matter, hopped up onto the curb to bypass the stopped cars and was heading right for her. She caught the motion out of the corner of her eye an turned to look, but didn't seem as if she was moving out of the way anytime soon.
"I was named after a tree, because my parents are flamboyant hippies."
She laughed outright at his phone, but not in a mean fashion. "Woah! Didn't know you were hiding a dinosaur in there! Something else, maybe." Taking the old phone, she flipped it open and immediately started typing in her own number. A second later her phone chimed and she pulled it out of her pants pocket while handing his back to him.
She simply grinned cheekily at him as an explanation as she saved his number in her phone.
Spinning back around, she kept on going.
"Anyone ever tell you that you look like Adonis?" Juniper cast a look over one shoulder, hands in her pockets. A business man walked past and should have bumped shoulders with her, but... didn't. She paused at the end of the block. "I've been compared to Aphrodite before, we'd totally get along."
He shot her down, or at least she thought he had. She figured with all of offers up in the air it would have been clear as day what she was spelling out. Maybe big city beef was classier than the country variety? Who knew.
She'd test the waters a bit more. "Suit yourself." Ha, he was wearing a suit!
Then he garbled out something about justice and destiny, honest to goodness flapped his cape in the wind without a gust in sight, and vouched that he would be a big hero.
God, he was a bird brain with the body of a god. Normally she wouldn't concern herself with that too much for certain activities, but this was... Hoo boy. They didn't have these types out in the country.
"Juniper." She short back, turning to walk backwards so she could stare at him. "Nice to meet ya, Xavier. I'm sure you'll make it big one day."
If he wasn't very bright, maybe he had missed the implications of what she had been saying. It seemed feasible given what she now knew of him.
Lips still firmly puckered around her straw, Juniper turned at the voice and looked up to it's owner.
And up...
And up...
Jesus Christ, he was effing tall. Built like a goddamn Olympic athlete, too. She didn't even mind the costume. Kinda kinky. "I'd love to take more than a hand, big boy." She'd tap that if given a chance, oh yes she would. She winked at him to carry her point across.
Juniper glanced down at the bags scattered around her feet, draining her cup dry finally and turning to shoot it like a basket ball into a receptacle few feet away. "I'd love some help, if you're offering to help me take them home. I'll show you my bed in return."
It looked like he has watermelons stuffed under the sleeves of his costume.
His abs had abs.
His butt was probably tighter than her's.
She caught her gaze dipping a little low and blinked herself out of it. She'd let him carry her stuff for her since she had weak little arms, but maybe she'd plot a worthy reward along the way.
"Say, if you had to choose what would you say you taste like? Banana?"

New York was probably the biggest city she had ever been in. Buildings were impossibly tall, people impeccably dressed. There was a fecking golden tower somewhere that she totally had on a sticky note to rob.
In the grand scheme of things she was nothing at her current point. Brand new to the city and with only scraps of off brand things to wear.
Clearly this needed to be rectified.
Her day started by getting up whenever the hell she felt like, getting dressed in whatever the hell she felt like, and heading off to flirt a coffee out of somebody. By 2pm she had swung by her first high end store to drop three figures on a new outfit that she could wear the rest of the day. She walked out of that place looking like she had just dropped a pretty penny on some sweet digs, which she had.
Thick soled white tennis shoes, dark grey leggings, a loose, long black shirt with a red SUPREME slapped on the front screamed I HAVE MONEY SOMEONE PAY ATTENTION TO ME, and dark green trendy blazer to stave off the cold. She fitted some gold hoops in her ears, brushed her blond locks from her face, and slid a pair of name brand sunglasses on her nose that cost more than the rest of her outfit combined.
With a long sip from her ventiwhippedmochalattefivepumpcaramelskimmilk coffee, she headed off to get to work.
Mama needs a new wardrobe!
~~
Two hours later she was in probably her last store, poking through a pile of jeans one size too small for her. She knocked a pile beside hers over, throwing in a little monotone 'Oops' before bending down to start picking them all back up.
When she was done she headed back up to the front, having not found any pants at all, to collect her bags. She had been so nice to leave them by the registers to put the poor workers minds at ease while she shopped. "Thank you so much!" She tossed out a rather fake little smile and a wave. The anti-theft equipment beeped as she went to leave, but she was waved on through by the kindly manager who had seen her do absolutely nothing wrong. Such kind people!
A block away she stopped to pull two pairs of skinny jeans out of thin air somewhere around her stomach, plucking the tan security tags off of them like magic and depositing them into a nearby trashcan. She stuffed her already full bags a little fuller, having grown from one to five within the course of two hours. It was all stolen, of course, but also all so very fashionable~
Juniper popped into another coffee place a block down and actually bought a drink this time, though she added on a few more requests just to torture the boy behind the counter a little. His bunny ears sure were cute!
Of course, shopping sprees had one major downfall for her. After a bit she struggled to carry her hefty bags by herself. A few men half halfheartedly offered to help her out with them, but she wasn't really into man buns and beer guts so she declined, And thus, here she was pausing for the thousandth time to give her arms a rest on a busy sidewalk in the heart of the city, during rush hour.
She sipped her coffee thoughtfully. Maybe she could flirt a ride from a cab driver?

Character
Personality: Due to her upbringing she has seen and done a lot in her short number of years, and because of it struggles to find importance in things where others might. Relationships typically don’t last past the first or second date and human interaction can be a struggle. She tends to be pretty chill from the outside in most cases, even in hostile situations, but constantly battles very severe PTSD, depression, and Anxiety. She's a very kind girl deep down inside and doesn't wish ill on anyone unless she has reason too. She tends to put up walls around the parts of herself that she is insecure about, and typically will put on a show of being more confident than she actually is.
Hobbies/ Interests: Reading smutty things and watching gory horror flicks and true crime shows, as well as buying semi-expensive things to help fill the hole in her life. Decent at guitar songs and can shred a Banjo solo. Wonder wall anyone?
Job or part time job and description:Somewhat professional bank robber/thiefShe works at Anti-Gravity Indoor Climbing, as well as a second jobas a food prep worker at a local lunch place; Tacos Unlimitedas a backup singer / Banjo / Guitar in a small Murder Folk band. (currently looking)
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Due to the nature of her power, she has a pretty deep fear that it will one day quit working or be taken away. She’s not fond of adapteds, but tries not to show it. She will cycle through periods of being very social, and periods of high anxiety and depression, with a splash of insomnia. She doesn't do well in crowds, or if people spring things on her that fall outside of her comfort zone.
Special talents: Scoping out places and note taking, flirting (most of the time), Guitar, banjo, and some ukulele playing. Can't read sheet music for @#$%, but can listen to a song and learn it through repetitive practice. Can't remember what she ate for lunch yesterday, but can remember all of the lyrics for every hit song she heard over the 4 years she lived in her car.
Morality: Morality is hard, and for the most part she would rather ignore it. In certain situations her moral compass might urge her to do the right thing, or it might urge her to ignore it completely. She is not above violence, but tends to leave people alone unless they bother her, or someone she happens to care about.
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Chaotic Neutral
Mutations
Mutation description: Intangibility / Phasing
Strengths:
Selective whole body Phasing: She is able to selectively choose body parts, or whole body intangibility at will. This allows for her to make split second decisions on what she wants to phase and where.
Selective phasing of outside objects or people: She is able to extend her power to others, selectively choosing what to alter on them or the whole body. She is also able to extend her power to non-living objects and alter their physical forms as well.
Loss of Mass when intangible: Phased objects and body parts lose mass, and thus weight, for the duration of time she has them phased.
Mixing of two phased items: If on the off chance she were to be interrupted during the process of phasing someone, something, or herself, while moving through an object- like a wall for example- the two things would temporarily blend together harmlessly at the points where contact was made, until phased the rest of the way through or removed.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
Concentration required: It does take active concentration in order for her to activate and selectively choose what she wants to phase. It doesn’t happen automatically for her, and she can be caught by surprise if she isn’t paying attention.
Time limits: She is only able to hold a fully phased form for about ten minutes, before needing to take a break from it. Body parts are easier to hold in an intangible form, but still require a break after about 25 minutes. Using her power in shorts bursts with many breaks in between tend to give her more room to work with her power, but there is certainly a limit.
Long term holding: For smaller objects (ones she could hide within her own body) she is able to hold those in an intangible state for about 24 hours max, before she would need a break. Keeping something within her body and in an intangible state requires all of her focus, and she is unable to phase anything else while its inside.
Visibility: Though losing her mass and weight to a degree, she does not lose any visibility. She, and any other people or items affected by her power, are still fully visible to eyes, cameras, ect.
Phasing handicap:If she were to fully phase her whole body, she would slip through everything underneath her and into the earth itself, presumably to be perpetually stuck there by crushing gravity until she died. To prevent this, she needs to keep at least one part of herself or her clothing un-phased at any given time. This also has a side effect of making her unable to phase through solid things and surfaces that she couldn’t conceivably make it through in one go. She needs to have one solid part on either side of the object to make it through.
Power Growth: 1/11/2021
Growth description:
Long having thought that she was simply able to turn herself and other things intangible, it turns out that her power is actually rooted someplace else. She can phase, yes, but her physical body does not simply stop existing while phased. This can be seen when she has another living being phased with her, and the two can still physically interact with one another. Instead, when she phases she is actually passing into a separate space that is attached to her via her mutation. A sort of Limbo between worlds, if you will. While in this plane the parts or things that she had phased are intangible in her original plane of existence.
Her power growth has to do with her discovering that there is a third alternate place that she has access to. A duplicate reality of the world she currently lives in, warped, and shaped by her power and her past. After the growth kicks in she will be able to pass through the 'limbo' and into the other reality completely. Doing this causes her to visibly vanish from MRO!verse with a burst of her mutation. Objects or people can be taken across with her as well.
The alternate reality that she can access is an exact duplicate of the world that she was born into, from the forests to the cities. The only difference is that there are no people in the alternate world. Instead, it is filled with empty buildings and inanimate objects... as well as some sort of shadows beings. Lingering things with no true form or motive that wander aimlessly until they come in contact with her. Upon first contact the shadows latch onto negative feelings within a person and use them to shift into the personification of what that person fears the most. Then, they become aggressive. Juniper has no control over the shadow beings. They do what they want and when they want to. She is able to flee from them, but sometimes on accident can bring one or two of them back across the divide with her. If let loose on the city they could potentially grow stronger depending on how long they are left to roam. (Every individual who encounters one is able to decide for themselves how strong it is and how quickly they are able to defeat it. This option is rare and will be run past the mods first before being brought into a thread.)
She is able to pass between her worlds at will, as easily as she phases. While in the alternate world she can't interact with anything from the real world. Traveling from one place to another while in the alternate world will place her in the matching position within the real world. Time still functions the same as well.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: She is of average strength and exercises regularly. She can hold a dead sprint for a good long while, and isn’t winded easily.
Fighting Style: She isn’t well versed in fighting, but has taken a few basic self defense courses.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Decent at defending herself, but not a pro.
History Of Your Character
Juniper, if you hadn’t guessed from her name, was born to a pair of dirty hippies. Her mother was super into essential oils and saging the bad away, and her father was pretty big into being off the grid and down with big government as well as a handful of conspiracy theories.
They weren't loving, doting parents… and maybe just a bit to open with their personal ideals.
She grew up on a rather isolated patch of land near Yellow Springs, about an hour from the nearest town. Her mother had given birth at home after reading an old Midwives book. A rather isolated childhood and being home schooled turned her into a shy, unsure child.
The first time she was taken to a festival was at 12, she was completely out of her element. But, since her parents didn’t believe in conventional parenting, she was left to her own devices. She met a group of other kids at the event who meshed with her a little and she was introduced to a world she had never seen before.
Three years later she was still running with that crowd, but not as the same shy girl she had once been. She had been introduced to a world of things, both bad and good, and things that altered the state of mind, made feelings more intense, or calmed the mind. She meddled with many of them and then moved onto the next strongest thing.
By the time she turned 15 she was mostly over that scene. Drugs had become dull… She had tried almost everything that wasn’t super expensive, or sure to kill her. Her friendships had become strained, she lost her first love and best friend, and she had also discovered that she had a power. ...Though she wasn’t sure how long it had been around.
How’d she discover it? By falling through the second story floor of her house, of course.
Taking a page from her parents book of ‘how to be completely irresponsible’, she packed away a few belongings and decided to break out on her own.
She moved through a few small jobs she hated and couldn't hold onto, a few apartments with roommates she hated, and a few states she ended up hating too. Eventually she found that it was easier just taking what she wanted, and, with practice, she managed to get a rhythm going that meant she never needed to work a 9-5 job ever again... or sell oils on the internet to strangers.
Eventually Juniper ended up in New York, as all the conflicted people do.
She settled into a little apartment on the east side with her cat, and let herself rest for a bit after her latest heist.

August 3rd, 2019.
Her stash of cash was running low, and she didn’t want to dip into her bank account any time soon. That meant she would need to perform her third hit is this city, and thus she would need to relocate again.
Typically she tended to try and make off with enough to survive for a few years at the very least. She was nearing the end of her last haul, with just enough to cover her breaking her lease and moving fees.
Winding her hair into a loose bun, she set about packing away her minimal things into boxes so that she would be ready to leave town by morning. She also dug out the box she had stowed in the crawl space. The one that had all of her gear for tonight's heist.
At midnight, with her belongings and cat stowed away safely in her car and her apartment scrubbed clean, she hiked herself and a large duffel down the street to the nearest bank, setting her GPS for New York City as she went.
