The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"A friend of mine, name's Eaan," Although Gina had made no movement towards him that would suggest she was going to try and climb onto his lap, or grab onto his arm, Locke didn't put his legs back down. Just because she hadn't done something, didn't mean that she wasn't going to. Now was the time to proceed with caution. "He's the kind of person you don't want to get bored, and if he does get bored, do not leave him alone. It's like he's part..."
Locke chewed his lip in thought. He needed something to take care of and had been looking into different types of pets. He didn't want a dog, because either it was a yapper type or a drooling mammoth. Cats were a possibility, but he wasn't sure if he was quite up to that yet. "I guess he's part ferret, minus the stink. For just a normal guy it's amazing how much like a noodle he can be. Like he's triple jointed or something." Talking about someone else was easy enough.
Glancing over at Gina Locke realized he still hadn't answered her last question. "It's a good thing. As insane as Eaan might be he's got a good head on him. I mean..." To Locke it sounded like he was making backhanded insults about Gina. "He's a great guy, someone that you really want to have for a friend. So you're a good person to have a friend. I mean have as a friend...."
This was the moment when Locke brain kindly told him that it was best if he just shut up for a minute.

Locke wasn’t sure if he could relax or not. On the one hand Gina said that she wasn’t the lap climbing sort. Hugs were still a little iffy, but Locke wasn’t as likely to freak out over one. Usually with hugs you don’t have your head where someone can see your face. Besides, he was a man, and with the exception of Eaan, men don’t hug.
On the other hand she was smirking. Locke didn’t trust smirking. It meant that the smirker was plotting something. Gina smirking meant that she might ignore here rule on lap climbing. He pulled his legs up onto the couch as a defense. ”You remind me of a guy I know.”

"I turned seventeen in August," Locke answered Chase. He didn't care about adding fractions onto his age. Unlike Chase it wasn't important to Locke. Seventeen was an awkward age, not only because that was the age Locke was. When you turn sixteen it's a big deal, you learn how to drive, and if MTV was any sort of indication of reality in the United States, you had a huge party and got a new car. Eighteen meant that you were old enough to vote, or smoke depending upon if you wanted to ruin your health. All that happens when you are seventeen is you stop being eligible to win some contests.
He had been wrong about Chase's age. The kid was actually older than his siblings, and a nice amount too. They wouldn't be turning eight for just a little under a year, and Chase's birthday was going to happen first. "Almost out of the single digits," Locke said, making himself sound impressed. Being nine, for some reason, struck Locke as the perfect age to be. It was before all the crazy that comes with being a teen. "Looking forwards to your birthday?" he asked.

Locke shrugged his shoulders. If accompaniment was all that Gina needed to watch Zombieland then it was no big deal. "I like being in the same room with my DVDs. Not a problem at all." It wasn't like Locke didn't trust people to return things he lent them, just a habit that he had gotten into. After a lot of debate Locke could get Kendra to let him watch things that were rated R or NC17, but he agreed with her that it wasn't suitable for Chris and Mai to see Jigsaw in action. The best way to make sure that they didn't see something he owned that they shouldn't was to be in the room with his DVDs.
He was able to brush off her explaining she didn't fly as high as an airplane. No big deal. Locke admitted he sucked with science, so anything having to do with aviation was beyond his understanding. He wasn't able to brush off how easily Gina talked about being close to someone. Locke leaned away from her slightly, watching her warily. "You aren't going to climb onto my lap or anything are you?"
That was the thing he disliked most about the girlfriend he had that one week. She always wanted to be in contact with him. Holding his hand, clinging to his arm, climbing onto his lap. It was like she hadn't been able to support herself and needed someone there. Mai wasn't even that clingy.

"So Chase, how old are you?" Locke asked, spotting a bowl up ahead. The more they walked the more familiar he was becoming with Chase's weight distribution. Also the more time that the two were spending together the more Locke was thinking of his brother and sister. Chase seemed about their age, maybe younger. Then again the Tori kids had a little bit extra height thanks to their father. Locke knew that Chase was young, he was getting excited over candy, and there was a lightness to his steps that you loose as you get older. The more experiences you had in life the more you seemed to be weighed down. Right before it was about to snow Locke's leg grew sore, and the reminder of all the stresses and struggles in his life weighed him down so that he didn't know how he managed to keep walking.
The bowl had a sign politely asking that you took ONE piece only. Either this building had already been swarmed or someone had chosen to ignore the sign. It wasn't empty, but the selection wasn't all that great either. Guilt took Locke as he plucked out one of the long skinny Tootsie Rolls and put it into the pillowcase.

"Yeah, sure it's different," Locke joked, "Instead of people on a screen getting shot when they attack someone, you just have to worry about wind currents, airplane engines, and being mistaken for an unidentified flying craft and get shot down." Flying wasn't on the list of things Locke wanted to do. Planes crashed, maybe not as much as a car did, but they still crashed. He would stick to things that kept his feet on the ground. At least that way he could see what was around him.
"Just watch it once, you'll like it." If Gina could keep pressing the topic of dancing then Locke could keep pushing Zombieland. "The zombies are kind of funny really, not scary. Just once ok?"
"I can't do it. I can't be that close to someone and dance with them. That involves holding hands and waists and I just...." Locke turned scarlet. For a brief moment he forgot that Gina was a girl and now his brain was reminding him that he sucked at talking to them.

Locke rolled his eyes. "It's not that scary, I swear. There's more blood in Rambo than in Zombieland." Maybe. He had never actually seen any of the Rambo movies, but knew of the character. Compared to his other "horror" movies though, Zombieland was mild. "How bad can a horror movie be with the guy from the Social Network in it? Abigail Breslin is in it. The girl that they had wear headphones in Little Miss Sunshine so she wouldn't hear the swearing in the dialog. And there's an amusement park and an obsession with Twinkies. Now, does that sound so bad?"
It wasn't like he was trying to get her to watch a Saw marathon, and it wasn't like Evil Dead either. With the later at there was so much cheese you could make fondue, but it was so wonderfully bloody. This was Zombieland. "You mean to tell me that you have no problems with flying about when people are at their most paranoid, but you won't watch something with Twinkies? Twinkies!"
When Gina said that he was ahead of her in dancing Locke shook his head no. "I'm not really. Dancing means being flexible. I have waaay too much in common with my materials. Dancing with me is like dancing with a statue, only slightly more mobile, and hopefully, not nearly as heavy."

"History of the World Part One," Locke said with a smile. Common ground had been found! Blazing Saddles had been alright in Locke's book, but it just didn't hold his interest the same way that Spaceballs or History of the World did. Mel Brooks made the few comedies that Locke owned on DVD. "Have you seen Zombieland? I know, you said you don't like horror movies, but it's not exactly one. Yeah there's zombies, and there are spots of tension, but the thing was meant to be a TV series. You don't make horror shows."
Talking with people was definitely not one of Locke's hobbies. That was Eaan's job. As far as theatre and musicals went... Locke hadn't been to anything that wasn't involved with a school. He shuddered at the thought of his sixth grade's production of Pirates of Penzance. Immediately the paradox song started up in his head. He was going to have to drop a bomb on that[/b] brain worm.
"Yeah, the sewing's cool," Locke said. His hand not occupied with pizza twisted and played with the hem of his long sleeved thermal. Could he pretend about anything she said? Shopping though?. Locke hated shopping. "I sort of learned how to cha-cha once. Sort of."

"Guy dies and then comes back to life only to show up at eat? Tell me that doesn't sound like a zombie," Locke explained in a hurry when Krisz's face twitched. What holiday had he been thinking of in the first place? "And it's not like America's the only place that has a celebration of afterlife. Mexico has the Day of the Dead."
Locke opened up a google tab and did a quick image search. Then he promptly turned the laptop around to show Krisz the colorful and well decorated candy skulls. "Almost makes me want to visit."
Questioning the morality of Krisz's power usage had put the man in a defensive mode. "Hold on, that's a whole different kettle of fish," Locke might not believe in the religious aspect of Christmas, and he wasn't entirely sold on the commercial end of it either, but Santa needed some defending. "Being a ghost to drive up business when you aren't isn't like being hope for kids. Besides you probably don't have to worry about someone having an accident on your lap when you're playing ghost of the shelves."

You would think that a guy who likes movies with blood, guts, and gore would enjoy action movies. Explosions, fast cars, a sense of tension... Yet Locke got bored with them easily. He also didn't have much interest in war movies, even though he enjoyed history. Comedies were a hit and miss thing, but there were a few that Locke liked enough to own. "You ever seen Spaceballs? he asked. Yes it was a science fiction movie, but it was a Mel Brooks, and that equaled, at least in Locke's mind, comedic gold.
Gina was trying to reassure Locke that he wasn't boring. The sports thing and the instrument thing he could see as being entertaining or interesting. It was the rocks and dirt part that he was sure made him duller than a pair of safety scissors. He found the materials he worked with fascinating, but not everyone did. There isn't much new in the world of dirt. "Yeah, because everyone is interested in stones. Anyways what about you? I mean you like flying, but something not related to your mutation."

"Hey Easter isn't exclusive to America," Locke pointed out. It was the only national holiday that he could think of that had anything to do with zombies. Around Halloween there were always zombie days in small towns, where people dressed like the undead and lurched around. Halloween, the holiday that Krisz had been thinking of, was to Locke about more than just zombies. "Acting as a store ghost just for money is extortion."
Turning into pure sound did sound pretty cool to Locke though. Earth manipulation and earth sense were cool and all, but too many times did Locke say or do something that made him feel terribly embarrassed. Being able to vanish when he did what he did best would be great. "You're cool with using your mutation for that?" he asked. It wasn't an accusation, Locke really wanted to know the answer.

There was much that Locke still had to learn about how to talk to Gina. Even after his earlier realization that he was being way too literal, he still was going by the exact meaning of her words. Gina didn't even give him a chance to ask what shows she liked before she charged on ahead, asking him about his other interests. "Uh.... I like horror movies, the worse they are the better. Sucker for bad special effects I guess,"
A slice of pepperoni started to slide off his slice of pizza. Before Locke could tell Gina more he had to deal with the crisis. The cheese was still melty enough it seemed to act as a sort of iceberg, flowing at a slow rate that wouldn't necessarily be noticed. "I love baseball. When I was little I played it. What else... writing, playing bass, cooking, rocks and dirt," Locke's eyes opened a little wider with the realization, "I am an incredibly boring person."

"So you'd rather spend your days pretending to be a spook when you could actually be out there?" Locke asked. He was often holed up in his room, or off practicing with his powers, but to spend your days as a ghost? Locke couldn't sleep in total darkness for fear he'd stop existing, that the darkness would swallow him whole. How could Krisz stand not having a body? He wasn't going to let Krisz complain about being in a wheelchair. After all Locke had his own disability that, with his hair cut, was quite visible.
"You aren't a ghost," Locke insisted. Ghosts were people who died, people that could never come back. There wasn't really an undead creature that Krisz could be classified as. Zombies were corpses, mummies as well. "What you are is a faker."

Un-freakin'-belivable. The voice he had heard earlier was the same that was speaking to him now, which meant the man in front of Locke had been real. This didn't have the same feeling as seeing the ghost of his dad, and not just that warm fuzzy feeling at seeing a badly missed loved one. It was hard to describe the sensation of seeing something that all knowledge and reason says does not exist. This person was real, and Krisz was finally giving Locke the solid evidence that he needed.
"Locke Tori," the Californian offered in response, taking Krisz's hand and shaking it. The hand was solid, which cemented the fact that it was indeed a human that Locke was talking to. He couldn't help but look at Krisz with some confusion. "I don't get it. Why be a ghost?"
It wasn't the business end of things Locke didn't understand. It was the lack of a physical body.

Neither one really knew what they were suppose to be talking about Locke realized. He didn't know if he should think of that as comforting or funny. The most entertaining thing about it was that while Gina was thinking it would be easier to talk to Locke if he was a girl, Locke was thinking it would be easier if Gina was a boy. Guys were just slightly easier for Locke to talk to, because he could understand how their brain's worked. Girls would always be too complicated, his dad had told him that. Was he suppose to talk about clothes again, because if that was the case then Locke was so totally screwed. All he knew was how to wash and fold them, and the chore of laundry was incredibly dull, and unless you were Dr. Horrible, not a good conversational gambit.
When Gina asked what other TV stuff Locke was interested in he turned a little red. The food network was an addiction, but he did have some shows that he loved. "Well there's a couple of shows I like. Pawn Star, and well..." His dad had been a computer programer, his step mother was an internet nanny, and Locke was named after a video game character. Locke was fated to have a geekiness to him. "You probably haven't heard of it, but there's this British show I like, the newer episodes kick butt and all but there's something about the older ones, from the seventies that just can't be topped. It's about an alien that has a blue box that travels through time and space and he does things like blows up Mount Vesuvius...." he hurried through.
