The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The Greek stared at him, blinking and tilting her head as if she didn't understand.... which she kind of didn't. She had heard rumors and gossip that often surrounded what happened behind the golden doors, but she had also lived there for nearly a near. She knew that there were unsavory characters that lurked within, and she had been rather successful with avoiding them entirely. But, she also knew that those who sought out sanctuary behind those doors were protected by those that ran the organization.
"Saph... It is alright. It is not such a terrible place on the inside. I used to think like that as well, before I stayed there, there is no harm in me going back to get my things, or to say hello to the people I know." She smiled reassuringly, reaching for his hand again as he attempted to change the topic.
"I am sure some are probably all kinds of worried for me, having someone just run off with me like that... Maybe you could go with me when I go?" Well... maybe. She didn't really like the idea of chancing running into one of the Sanctuary's scarier denizens with Saph in tow. She really didn't want him to go in swinging without knowing what was what.
"Well, I really should go collect the things I left behind at the sanctuary. My laptop is over there, as well as a few personal items that I really do not want to lose... My mothers bible is over there still."
The idea that they might be missing once she got back to collect them made her feel slightly sour. They were special to her. "And... I probably should invest in some new clothes one of these days... and some shoes. Mine have holes in them now."
She wiggled her toes in her borrowed flip flops absently.
“I think I already know the answer but, how do toy feel about this friend?”
She winced right back at him, capturing her bottom lip between her teeth as her nerves flared suddenly. "I..." She started, her voice wavering as she fought back an even more violent flush from overtaking her face. A quiet string of Greek words tumbled from her lips as she tried to pick the right words.
"It is hard to explain... I have never been in love before, so outright proclaiming such a thing feels... silly, somehow." She paused again, her eyebrows drawing together as she pondered.
"...and yet... I can think of no other way of explaining my feelings for him." It always felt like butterflies in her belly, fluttering about restlessly. It often took seconds for them to appear, and hours for them vanish again. Every story book and tv show she had ever seen has described love as such a feeling... but of course she still had her doubts.
She had also seen many examples of mistaken love ending... badly. "Have you ever been in love before?" A split second after she asked it, while she was already in the process of turning her head to look up at him, she realized how much she was prying.
"Ah... that is, if you don't mind me asking such a question..."
The ball came out of nowhere again, just as Andrea was starting to react to the idea of playing her violin in front of Saph. The ball landed an arms length away from Saph, on the far side of him. She couldn't reach it, in order to throw it back to the kids.
Kids who were, when she turned and looked at them, giggling like...well, children. A puzzled frown settled on her lips, but she decided not to put any thought into what they boys were doing just yet. Instead, she turned her attention back to the man at her side, and eyed him.
All of the blood in her body rushed to her face as he enveloped her in a hug, and the she squirmed awkwardly. Him being shirtless off at a distance where she could avoid looking directly at him was one thing, having his chest pressed basically into her was a whole other mess entirely.
"...Um... You... should put a shirt on..." It came out as more of a squeak, rather than a request. Thankfully, he stepped away and allowed her some time to try and un-fluster herself once more.
"Um... yes, that sounds just lovely. I suppose I do need new clothes... even the ones I left at my room don't really fit right anymore." She eyed the grease on his face, and on his newly added shirt, and she couldn't help but smile. The Greek glanced around until she spotted a clean looking cloth behind Saph. Probably set aside for people working on cars to wipe their hands on.
"It looks as though you are in dire need of clothes as well." She stepped around him, picked up the cloth and returned to his side to wipe the grease from his face. "...And a shower!"
Which she could barely understand at all. She figured it was from Saphirus... because it was his handwriting, and he was not present in the room with her. After much head scratching, she deciphered the words Meet me and garage.... perhaps he needed help with a chore, or something?
Tilting her head, while slipping into another of his borrowed shirts... and his jeans. Which nearly didn't want to button around her hips, and were waaaay too long for her short legs. After rolling the bottoms up and tucking the bottom of her baggy shirt in, she slipped a pair of flip flops on, that he had managed to find somewhere, and headed out.
The garage itself was a place she had never been before, and thankfully it was rather unsurprising. The sight that greeted her once she spotted Saph though, caught her completely off guard. Andrea turned brown instantly, from her neck all the way up into her ears. She pointedly kept her gaze off of his bare upper half, and coughed to clear her throat.
"...Um... Y-you wanted me to come down here?" Why did it seem like the man was allergic to shirts nowadays? In all her time with him, he had lost the darn things more than a beach goer in summer.
She couldn't help it... her eyes went wide and she stared at him for a moment in a very slack jawed manner. Most unbecoming of a lady. "You...you joined.... really?!" Her pitch elevated just a little, and she also could not stop herself from throwing her arms around his neck in a swift hug. "I am so proud of you! That is a wonderful accomplishment!"
She pulled away a little, beaming at him, before she realized what she was doing. The Greek flushed again and wiggled a little ways away, but remained happily grinning at him. "What is it like? Have you saved anyone yet? Oh! I bet there are just tons of people who adore you!" Her excitement dimmed a little as her last question fully hit him, and she was forced to pull herself away from her own thoughts.
His story was so sad. It struck her right down to the core... and he was left only wanting to hold him. Andrea wiggled closer as she spoke, nodding her head as she listened. Then, the last bit of what he said echoed around in her head, and she found herself smiling slightly. There was nothing she could say to make it better, not right at the moment, anyway. Her life was drastically different than his had been... All she could do was try to make it all better in her own little way. She leaned in to hug him once more, a little tighter, yet still gently.
"... I think you turned out just wonderful... and I am quite attached to you, if I do say so myself..." Leaning in, she pecked him on the cheek, and her smile widened. "There is nothing you could say that would change that fact. I love you, Saphirus... with all of my heart and soul."
She was tempted to just continue hugging him, but his last question was still unanswered. She didn't bother moving, instead managing to settle herself while still hugging him close. "I love gardening... reading, playing the Violin... and spending time with those that I love..."
“Oh, I’ve been well, Working, losing sleep, then working some much.”
Concern touched her features, and she speared the man with a look so motherly, her own mom would have been proud. Working around the clock, with only minimal sleep between whatever shifts he was pulling was not healthy.
“You know, pretty mundane. Yourself?”
"I cannot claim nearly as much stress on my end... But, Jorge, I must admit you have me worried for you. You are taking care of yourself at least? If you say anything other than yes, I swear to you that I will have to personally make sure you are taken care of. " She threw a stern, stubborn look his way, before cracking a cheeky grin. She just couldn't keep a straight face while he was digging into her cookie basket.
“Wow, Andrea, these are fantastic! I’m glad I agreed to take them,”
Her grin widened, and she flushed with pride. It was so rare for her to try and bake anymore, that having someone actually like her cookies was both refreshing and exciting. "Thank you, that is very kind of you to say."
She went ahead and plucked one out for herself, waiting until offered. "I already ate about a dozen of these earlier today though, so I really shouldn't have anymore." That being said, she didn't stop herself from popping the whole thing into her mouth and chewing to her hearts content.
...She always had loved those cookies just a bit too much...
"...I was hopin you and I could spend a little more time together; Like right now... getting to know each other."
Her whole face heated up, and she giggled nervously. "S-spent time with together? .... Of course!" Hopefully, most of that time would be spent on other things than picnics. She didn't think she could handle any more of those in the near future.
"What do I think of the X men?" She paused, reclaiming one of his hands so she could fiddle with it while she pondered on the question. She liked them alright, they were out there fighting crime and what not. Cops with... powers, she supposed? "I think...they are upstanding examples of humanity. They... strive to be good... and help those that cannot help themselves."
"Sometimes I wish I could be like that... brave enough to stand up for people and offer a helping hand..." She sighed wistfully, glanced at him, and decided to change the topic again. "...Do you have any family? I am sure my mother would just adore you... and I would just love to meet your family too!"
Andrea watched as she brother walked on, then as her sister called out to them and they were directed toward the offices.
The Slug Twins shared a glance, before nodding to each other. "Brothers, sisters! We will be splitting up now- You and you-" One twin pointed at Akshay and Andrea, "You two shall come with me to find more initiates." The other Slug looked to Allison and the two awaiting guard brothers. He reached out one sticky hand and snatched up one of the radio's from the guards."You shall stay with us, we must be here to protect our sister while she works. If we find any trouble, we shall call you."
"Yessir!" Andrea cried, shooting them a slime covered salute. She turned and followed their commanding Slug leader as he slithered out the door, cooing to the remaining little slug-letts in her arms as she shuffled along.
Behind them, the female Slug mutant returned to trailing around behind where Allison sat, watching as she tapped away at the keyboard. "Now... sister, find us anything valuable... Charts, graphs... expense grids... Anything. If we can take it with us as proof of their evil, it will only help our cause."

Just inside the building, the CEO stood motionless. There were large goopy slime trails on the floor... like someone had dragged around a mop full of green jelly. "What the hell is this sh*t?" One of his lackeys knelt and prodded it with a hesitant finger.
"I don't know, sir... but whatever it is, it's nasty." The CEO didn't look very happy. "Someone's in here, who's not supposed to be. Radio the other workers here, I want this figured out ASAP." His assistant nodded.
"You two, head down to the offices and make sure everything's locked up tight. I also want you to get into the security cameras and see who it was who left this nasty mess here." The two men nodded, and hurried off down the hallway. Once they were out of ear shot, the CEO turned to his assistant.
"If that office has been tampered with, at all, I want this place torched." The man nodded, eying his boss warily, and lifted his radio to his mouth...
~~
The Leech wiped splotches of deep red from his mouth, standing up from the unconscious form of the worker. The man had lost a good amount of blood, and would have a hickey the size of a salad plate when he woke up. Thankfully, that would be well after Leech had departed from the scene. With his belly full, he turned and headed back to where he had stashed the child.
..who, upon finding him, was now awake. The man cursed inwardly, unsure if he should just leave him where he was tied up, or take him with.
His honor told him that he could not possibly leave the child alone with the foul Slug twins wandering around. "Child... be clam." He started, raising his hands in a lazy surrender. "I will not hurt you, but you must come with me." The blood still clinging to his lips and chin probably didn't help his cause, as he approached the boy... but he had forgotten about the mess left over from hid feeding.
~~
Meanwhile.. back in the factory wing, two men stood side by side. It was break time, and they were content with chatting about daily like and the like. "Man... my wife just tore me a new one last night. Turns out I forgot pay the heating bill on time..."
"Man," The other replied, shaking his head sympathetically. "I bet Susan went straight for the throat, am I right?" Before the his companion could reply, a clank rattled out from within the machine strewn room behind them. Both men glanced at the other, tucked their phones away and moved off to investigate the strange sounds. ~~
In the hall, with her magnificent slug leader leading the charge, they inched along. Andrea had repositioned the baby slugs on her person so that her arms were free. She was busy giggling at the sensation their squirming caused, with her arms held straight out at her sides to make sure she stayed up on her feet.. and not on her but like the last time.
Out of nowhere, a crackling voice popped into existance, causing the lead slug to stop and raise the radio in his hand. Back in the offices, his sister turned as the other guards radio crackled to life as well...
"Bill? Steven?... Where are you guys? What's all this crap on the floor? I want you two up here NOW with an explanation as to what's doing on here. Mr. Boyle is NOT impressed!"
Andrea giggled again, mostly at the name boyle, and the Slug mutant turned back at Akshay and her. "....What was that? Who's Bo--... oh no! The boss! Quickly, we must hurry!" He sped up the pace, slithering faster than ever. Andrea attempted to hurry up, and ended up slipping in his slime trail. Little slugs flew everywhere, and as she set about collecting them the Slug mutant turned and hollered over his shoulder at her. "Leave them! Hurry! We must finish destroying the equipment!"
She blinked and gathered up the armful she already had, leaving the rest to slither around in the hallway behind them.
After a tense moment of listening to night life chirp and croak, she grew tired of straining her ears. She couldn't hear much over the pounding of her own heart, nature, and distant traffic... but the sounds of approaching cars had long since passed. For a moment, she felt safe... like the storm has passed and she would have a few seconds to collect herself.
... there was a lot to collect.
A quiet sob escaped her, and she sank down to the ground. Shaking hands removed her glasses from her eyes, and she pressed her palms to them. Tears dripped out, an even flow as her nerves finally took over and left her a shaking, weeping mess. Sloth curled tighter around her shoulders, off put by her distress, and flicked his tongue out into the night air.
He could sense something... maybe a someone, but in the darkness, with so many critters skittering about to and fro, the great snake was unable to get his barrings completely. He curled around his sobbing mistress, the tension in his body making her shoulders ache ever so slightly, and waited...
Andrea ignored the serpent, mostly. The urge to cry had overrun her, and she was more than happy to just go with the tide of tears. Someone had once told her that when life became to great to bear, letting yourself weep would help to work out some of the kinks. She could feel it working, very slowly, as she sat in the dirt. The pain behind her eyes was lessening, and she could think a little bit more clearly.
... Enough so that she was starting to question a great many things. A hand dropped to her throat, which was still throbbing like a reminder, and she sniffled while wiping at one eye.
"Yes... That sounds just splendid." With a little grin, she hooked her arm around his, feeling rather dwarfed in the process, and walked with him side by side. "Is that so? I had not looked into anything past the address, so far. Maybe this calls for a surprise luncheon?"
The comment he made left a little flush on her cheeks once more, and was only made worse by his comment about her friend. She stumbled over her words for a moment, flashing back to the conversation fraught with admissions of the heart Saph and she had had shortly after she had awoken in his room. "I... suppose you could put it that way." She started, unsure of whether it was proper to talk of such things with a newly met acquaintance.
"I cannot blame him.. the last time he saw me I was in a hospital bed. I dare say I vanished right out from under his nose... " She smiled giddily, not for remembering how she had left, but for the sudden appearance of butterflies in her belly from remembering his words. Many of which she was still finding hard to believe.
"...But... um... yes, he is quite fond of me." A glance over in his direction reminded her that she was talking to someone, and her blush intensified significantly. Sloth chose that moment to turn up over her arm, dragging most of her braid with him, to flick his tongue out at the red giant curiously. The other snakes wiggled as well, but being shorter than the white snake, were unable to do anything more than sneak glances at him from around her shoulder.
Venus had brothers, one of whom had helped the Judge escape. She could understand that, thinking he may have needed help, if there were indeed a few people attacking him at once.
But it didn't work to settle her conscious at all. The gentle pat on her shoulder helped to drag her back out of deeper thoughts, and she blinked up at him, concern clear on her face. "Do not worry, you are not keeping me from anything important. I had just realized the other day that I have been here for a while now, and have not been out to see any of the touristy attractions. I was on my way over to the Rockefeller center... would you like to join me?"
She didn't know if such a thing would interest him, but he exuded the presence of a caring, and kind soul. Who better to share new experiences with?
"I... am afraid I must apologize though. I may in fact be my fault that trouble was started at the Sanctuary in the first place..." A soft pout graced her lips, and she fiddled with her map, no longer needing it for the moment.
"I may have left a friend without any warning, and in his grief he told me that he reached out to someone in hopes of finding out where I was. I believe that this man, Cafas, was the one who answered his plea. I cannot hold it against him, ofr he was simply trying to help someone out... but I do wish he would have gone about it in a far more reasonable manner."
He was so polite, it genuinely caught her off guard. No one had ever kissed her on the hand before. It was gentlemanly, and reserved. Quite unnatural coming from a New Yorker, as well as a Sanctuary dweller. A slight blush crept across her cheeks, as she drew her hand back to her and giggled.
Her giggle turned sour however, when he dropped the Judge's name. She had heard of the fellow through various new programs and papers. He was a rash, hateful man who killed people in terrible ways. She honestly didn't care if they were criminals as well... no one deserved to die in such manners.
"Oh no, I am quite alright... I do hope no one was hurt in this.. distraction? Was that man finally captured?"
Especially those that she knew and cared about... She knew that those who lived behind the golden doors could very well take care of themselves, but the thought of something terrible happening to Kaitlyn, or any of the other kids who resided there... just made her feel terrible.
She stepped aside slightly to lessen how much she was obstructing the flow of traffic on the sidewalk, before returning her eyes to the newly named Venus.
With a nervous grin, she nodded and scratched at one cheek.
"Of course!" Following him over, she sat herself down and straightened out her dress over her knees. "You look as if you are doing well yourself..."
Perhaps with her ability to get herself into all sorts of trouble finally giving it a break, he had been able to relax a little. Considering that she only ever seemed to run into him in terrible times of crisis, sitting at the park eating cookies just seemed... boring in comparison.
"How have you been since I last saw you?" She glanced at him for a moment, recalling how tired he had looked, before turning her eyes to the others strolling around. Joggers, people walking pets and riding bikes. Off in the distance someone with a ring of girls sitting around him was playing a guitar. The sun was out in full bloom, and she could feel it warming her skin.
It was a very lovely day.
She was very thankful that she was able to spend it doing something relatively relaxing, rather than her usual hurried, frantic pace. Considering the way the last two weeks had gone, it was a nice change of events. She watched a couple of teens toss a Frisbee back and forth, half paying attention to the game from the corners of her eyes as she turned her attention back to her companion.
