The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> ”Ooo…” she puckered her lips inquisitively. ”..please...go on…”
Warlock was sincerely thrilled that someone willing to play along, enjoy the game had bumped into him. That told him the person meant business and was comfortable enough in the business to have fun with it. He hated the old, boring, jaded types. They either cared too much or were bad at it.
She cuddled up, snickering at his jokes, and he grinned at her dramatics. He sure hoped she could cut with sarcasm and judgement as easily. If so, they could have a grand old time in the future. >> ”I DO believe you’re right, handsome. What do you think?”
Warlock chuckled like a Brit 10 seats from the throne, “I mean if the Devil lowers himself to someone, you can bet they’re in charge.”
>> ”Shall we mingle and introduce ourselves when he’s not occupied? Or shall we attempt to interrupt them now?”
“Mmm,” he rose a finger to his lips, glancing upward in serious thought. “I would expect he might be appraising of our activities here, so let’s let him alone to enjoy his party while we parley with his crew.” His eyes scanned the room and the he leaned in, whispering as he inclined his chin, “Perhaps we should rescue the two lovely young ladies from the bright blue boy? Should we need to separate I’ll gladly enjoy entertaining whichever you haven’t chosen.” He chuckled again and then gestured toward the trio.
With a genteman’s arm extended he guided the Queen Cobra along, a soft smile on his lips as they approached the women who’d arrived together and the man electric.
The way she giggled prettily at him, the not-so-hidden intentions, the playful invitation at flirtation was more than welcome. He’d thought it refreshing, fun, and maybe good for a dirty deed after the deed to do was done. She was keeping the game going.
>> and the occasional bang,"
His smirk became a grin as he stifled a chuckle.
>> I mean, it's hard to tell what mutants are capable of, and pissing us off doesn't seem like the finest way to find out."
Jonas gave a nod, “I don’t ever ‘tend to know. I mean, I learned ya treat everyone wit’ respect. Best be careful who ya pick a fight wit’.”
>> Well, I don't often find myself in situations like that, but for your sake I kind of hope so."
“Pink eh?” an eyebrow rose as he chuckled again. “Well then, maybe we should exchange numbers then. I’d like to know when yer planning to confront some hate-monger wit’ a big mouth. And then I can ring ya for some bright lights and the occasional bang?” his grin became a full smile.
Jonas nodded about the prejudice as she spoke. He did believe that, though he also thought many kids were taught to be afraid of what was different. It wasn’t always prejudice but fear was a powerful motivator. How parents reacted to things – like say learning to exploit them – impressed a lot upon a kid.
>> "If he knows what's good for 'em. Sure he had a bad day, but compared to the different kinds of people that have mutations, and what those mutations are...I think he got off pretty easy."
Jonas laughed quietly and nodded again, “A warnin’ shot maybe, eh?”
>> "Skye, and to be honest...I really didn't mind it,"
Oh she was a bit forward for a girl half-rescued. That was refreshing, and fun! He could enjoy that, especially if they were to be closer in the future. Too right.
A corner of Jonas’s mouth turned up in a smirking, wry grin as he glanced away. “Well alright then,” he chuckled. “Good to know. I’ll ‘ave ta watch out for jerks runnin’ their mouths more often in case yer there,” he smiled, looking back to her and holding the eye contact. “Maybe I’ve a good chance to catch ya again, eh?”

>> ”In the meantime, you can keep me company.”
Maybe it was less Queen Cobra and more Queen Bee. He sure didn’t mind. “But of course, m’lady,” he bowed his head slightly, sounding very much the British knight. “A pack of wolves is far more dangerous than one alone.” He paused and grinned, “Even if that pack is two.” He surely wasn’t calling this collection a pack just yet.
Thus far many seemed rather comfortable lying about, so if anything these wolves were far below Beta. They were slinking around the sides of the room, hovering at the bar, flirting and whispering. A few were more eye-catching than others, like this Agnes had been.
>> ”My, Mr. Warlock,” she cooed. ”You certainly have a way with compliments.”
“Yes, I do,” he bowed his head again with a knowing smirk. >> ”I’m afraid that my invitation here was given under rather mysterious circumstances. But,” she edged closer to Warlock. ”Maybe together we can solve this riddle?”
“Indeed?” he asked only partially surprised. “Well then, m’lady, I have a few prospects to suggest.” A hand went to the small of her back as she came close, pressing gently as he pivoted so that both could turn in the same direction as if they were dancing.
“Most,” he spoke in a whisper, “have made omegas of themselves, laying back in their seats. You can see their bellies plainly. But a few patrol their den.” He nodded, “The woman in the svelte black dress left her partner at the door as if to make a singular walk to the bar. And now the man in the blue who just arrived approaches her and I presume her mate. There’s also the man in the green shirt and black jeans who’s been strutting around, but perhaps that’s just a man ready to rut. Certainly no leader would come here,” he stressed the word, “In jeans.”
Warlock shook his head, “No, my bet is on the black suited fellow with the salt-and-pepper hair. He’s walking around like he owns the place, exchanging glances and quick words with many of the patrons. Perhaps a lady of your breeding and status can astute what mine foreign eyes have only guessed at?”
He moved to a tree, leaning against it while eyes watched for anyone poking into their little clearing. It was off the paths a fair bit so it didn’t seem likely. He’d scoped out a number of hiding places around the city since he’d arrived. This was one of ‘em.
>> “I see...some people are amused by mutants. Little kids especially love my hair,”
Eyes went sideways over to her as she lay back. He took a long breath before speaking. “Funny when kids see wonder before they learn to fear, ‘ight?” he asked, the sound of his r’s not always quite precise.
>> "But that guy didn't understand. He reminds me of my mo--someone back in Maine,"
He frowned, nodding once in understanding. Mom? Damn, that’s tough. His parents had used him but at least they weren’t hateful. She explained a bit of her combo signatory light show and power, but he’d gotten all that already. He was hoping to make her feel better, get a good ally. He had helped her run away and hide after all!
>> "Honestly, I hope he did worse than that,"
“Oh I bet he did,” he nodded. “He’ll think twice before opening ‘is mouth ‘round mutants I bet,” he nodded again. “I’m Jonas by the way. Sorry if I scared ya back there. Normally I’d ask a lady before putting my arm around ‘er but we had to get gone quick,” he smirked.
The man breathed a deep few lungfuls. He played it up a bit more, a bit longer than he actually needed to. He didn’t need this girl to know exactly how fit he was. Always helped to be able to outmaneuver someone just a little better than they expected…
>> "Yeah, I'll be fine. I've never....gone off twice in a row like that..."
And she claimed not to be a hot head. Or was that really more that her power hadn’t activated twice in a row? That popping, brilliant firework-like display was from her fingers not her hair. So distracting, so useful. Talk about crowd control. She needed rest, probably a bit drained.
“Ya, ya, s’alright,” he nodded. “My cuz is a mu- Mutant,” he took a seemingly belabored breath. “Can see through things and it makes his skin,” another breath, “s-sort of translucent too. Ain’t right the way that guy was talkin’.” He shook his head. “Quite a pop ya made,” he chuckled slightly. “I think he pissed ‘imself by the look of it.”

Hoo doggy. Ved idly wondered if there wasn’t a giant robot behind him, flailing its long arms, shouting its warning. Warning! Warning! This woman screamed danger and it wasn’t just the beauty. Fun! He loved these games. If you had to idle with snakes, best to find the queen cobras! You didn’t want them sneaking up behind you, but man if there weren’t some attractive people here…
She purred like a kitten and giggled like a woman of means amused with the attention of courtiers. He smiled back with practiced charm. She was having fun too it seemed; Ved appreciated the playful cantor of her teasing and desire for his name as well.
Agnes. He didn’t know an Agnes but any name could be a disguise or she was a player behind the scenes. Her neck sure looked delectable, the skin clear and almost new.
Ved pulled his head back in false offense. “Oh I shan’t, shan’t,” he shook his head. “Only the ones not befitting the right to talk to you. Should you present your standards and demands I shall endeavor to make the proclamations,” he prostrated, throwing out an arm, bowing his head, and half bowing at the chest. This of course allowed his eyes to scan down the rest of her. Nice.
“The Lady Agnes may call me her Warlock,” he said, giving a bow of his head and softening his smile. “Maybe if you were to be too kind you could introduce me to the host here? I’m afraid I haven’t yet had the honor. Unless perhaps I’m luckier still and it’s you? You are certainly sapphire and grand.”
They hurried away like two rats fleeing a fire or maybe just panicked park-goers. Man, the girl really would catch a lot of attention. That hair… He’d have chuckled if they weren’t still running along. They sprinted across the grass and walkways, up a hill, and down…
Two bros were hanging in their crossfit gear but one had something Ved wanted. He stopped for just a moment to clap the guy on the back, “Damn bro, lookin’ good. I wish I had such gains.” But a psychic suggestion slipped through the surprising stranger’s touch: help me by giving me your ballcap. Yankees? Gross. But it would work.
“Thanks, bro. Here have my cap. It’ll help ya look the part,” he said, handing it over.
“Thanks,” Ved grinned, and resumed his running.
“Dude, you know that guy?” the friend asked in disbelief of what had happened.
“Nah,” the bare-headed bro shrugged.
Ved caught up with the girl quick enough and slipped the hat on her head. “Let’s hide that for a bit,” he urged verbally and through the power he’d placed on the cap. A couple minutes later they’d reached the wooded paths joggers and casual tourists used. They ran into a copse of bushes and Ved finally stopped.
“Dang, ya alright?” Ved asked, something southern in his accent. His breathing was slightly labored, but a quick retreat was nothing for his trained frame. In fact, he practiced such fleeing all the time!

“No, no,” Warlock replied. “I’m sorry my back got in the way of your hips, may they be free to move however they please.” His accent was sparse but British by the sound of it, Estuary for a well-trained ear. He grinned as he held her sapphire eyes, rather than let his scan her clearly beautiful form. In a room full of snakes, it wasn’t wise to let your gaze wander.
Oh yes this woman was stunning. He’d seen her enter earlier and head to the bar. It was no use to ignore her and now well, best to learn whom she was!
A small nod was given the man he’d been speaking as he completed a turn away and brought his attention fully to the woman. “I should really watch where you’re going,” he nodded. “And I’ll be sure not to get in the way again. Yes, but so that I can warn the others and answer the hopeful tongues who must know… May I know your name?”
