Trust me." Derek chuckled. He never thought that he would be sitting next to someone who's actually famous. It was nice. More than nice.

Derek glanced around the van when his eyes found something sticking out from the top of her visor. He cautiously reached up and pulled it to see what he was. Derek was still stuck on the whole album thing to even respond. He turned the cover over to read the back of it.

Derek was just minding his business while watering the plants in the greenhouse when he suddenly heard something, or someone talking. He jumped and quickly turned around with the watering can still in his hands. When he saw the plant move, a lot of things came to mind. First, why the plant wanted a cheeseburger, second, why did it have a southern accent, and three, why was it waving around like that.

"...Uh." Derek honestly didn't know how to respond to that. "...Either you're an actual talkin' plant or...someone is playin' a game with me." His southern accent lightly coated his words. "Okay, alright. I'm not feedin' you a cheeseburger because Xavia didn't tell me that you could talk. I'm sure this is all in my head." Derek turned back around and started to water the plants. "God, help me. I'm hearin' things." He whispered underneath his breath.

Derek chuckled at that. "Yeah. How many pairs of shoes do you have?" He asked curiously. He assumed that she had at least twenty pair at the most.

"...Was? Did something happen to your sister?" Derek asked cautiously. He didn't want Allegra to feel any worse than what he felt like she was. Hopefully the usage of past tense just meant that her sister was now the only child that was still with their mother than her being deceased. "And you're just wonderful." He finished the sentence for her with a warm and inviting grin. "And don't let anyone tell you differently, okay?"

When Derek was questioned about reading body language of animals, he had to think. He'd never actually took the time to sit down and actually actively read an animal. It just came naturally to me. "Um, well, it's hard to say, but it varies from animal to animal. However, your dogs probably bark because you're making noises." Derek would have to see the animal himself in order to come to a census.

The mutant smiled widely when Allegra was pleased with the new codename he gave him. "Oh, you're welcome! I didn't know that you wanted to be a fashion designer! That's really cool. So the codename does fit." Derek chuckled and leaned back in his seat. "Finding out more about yourself will be helpful in a lot of ways especially when it comes to mutant powers. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same thing and see how far my potential goes."

Derek smiled kindly at Allegra. "Aw, thanks. It means a lot. You'll find someone too. Don't let this little incident let you down okay? You're in a new environment with new opportunities." Derek grinned. "Yeah, you are preaching to the choir about that. I guess it depends where you grow up. With me bein' raised in the south, you're not supposed to be certain things, so," he shrugged his shouolders. "I dunno."

"Of course we can be friends!" Derek smiled widely. "I can never have enough friends so, sure. I'm glad that I was able to help you. I'm a good person to vent to."

Derek stifled a laugh when Allegra started to freak out when a insect started to climb on her. "No, no, you're fine. I can see you being a drama queen, though." Derek chuckled some. "Being afraid of bugs, though, if you've had a bad experience with them can cause you to sort of hate them so that's understandable." "Uh, I'm afraid of...not being good enough." He answered, nodding his head. "That's basically it."

Derek laughed at that. He could imagine how red her mouth must be after feasting on the raspberries and strawberries. He got into the van and locked himself into the passenger seat. "Oh? Well, I'll make sure to make two batches." Derek smiled and looked forward, then over at Xavia. "How old is your daughter if you don't mind me asking."

"Hopefully. I'd love to take care of them. All of them too." Derek looked forward with a nice smile on his face. "Trust me, they love their home. It's roomy enough." He ran his fingers along his joggers to make sure he had his phone on him. The mutant went silent for a while before asking; "How many people stay at your boardinghouse?"

Derek smiled in response as he watched her feed the rabbit and guinea pig in the cage. An even wider smile came to his face when he saw the rodents start to eat."...The rabbit really loves the raspberries. The guinea pig likes the lettuce and the strawberries are for later."

"I hope so too." Derek smiled and followed her out of the greenhouse and toward her van. "Thank you again. I feel like I should make you something like, uh, cookies. Do you like oatmeal cookies, Xavia?"

Derek nodded his head when Xavia said that her and her family were from Hungary. Derek hadn't heard much from Hungary, but he assumed that it was a nice country. Most countries were nice countries in Derek's view. The world couldn't be all bad. When the Professor started to list of things that Derek would have to do while working at the greenhouse, Derek got excited. Finally, he'll be put to good use.

"I'd love that. Thank you so much for your generosity. It really means a lot." Derek gave her a smile before taking a step closer. "And I'd also love that. I do plan on moving off of campus so that would be perfect."
