The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nate was still examining his companion, making sure she was fine. Her eyes still appeared to be tense, but she was relaxing once more. The hand he placed on her shoulder felt around the area lightly; he was not going to tell her, but he was checking to be sure there was no raised areas of skin signifying a scratch or bite from Parker.
"Yeah, he's not something most people expect." Just as he was done with his assessment and confident that Melissa was going to be just fine, he noticed a hand at his waist that was not his own. After peeking down to see the delicate hand there, his hand mirrored the action, slipping from her shoulder down to her waist.
He should probably put more thought into what was happening. He was still feeling the remnants of his buzz from the bar, and he was still fresh off of his first real relationship ever. It was not wise to make any brash decisions, (because clearly his choice-making with Megan was so cautious and well-advised,) but at the same time it was hard to argue with invited contact from a lovely young bartender.
In a softer voice, he commented, "So yeah... that view..." Despite being right next to the windows overlooking the city and the park, Nate's grey eyes were focused on Melissa's green ones. What would she do in the situation they somehow ended up in?

She briefly considered the idea that their was a mutant who could make these spiders out there. She decided not to dwell on such a thought. " Yea, even knowing he was here...." She said not sure how ready she was for a round two with the spider. Her thoughts on the Spider were dashed as she felt his hand slip down to her waist.
"It certainly is nice" she said though she never looked at the window, her eyes instead looking back at Nates grey eyes. Her mind screamed of caution but her heart quickly quashed such protests . She also had taken Nate's earlier check of her shoulder as something sensual, his proximity made her feel safe and not as lonely as she realized she herself was. Maybe she gotten to consumed with work.
She pressed closer to him. all the while keeping eye contact. As she moved closer her hand would slip further around Nate. "In fact i think's it's one of the best views i've seen" she said her voice soft. Gone were thoughts about the park or the veiw the apartment provided or about work, her heart keeping her mind to mucha puddile to consider much else.
Nate watched as Melissa's eyes made no deviation from his own, and from the tone in her voice, she was done with sight-seeing. His hand was on her waist and her hand was on his waist and his other hand was at her cheek and when did his hand get to her cheek.
It was like Nate could feel a gravity pulling his lips closer to Melissa's, and she was offering him no resistance. He was finding it difficult to find a reason not to give in through the fading fog of tipsiness.
With his lips close enough to feel Melissa's breath, he managed to offer a warning in a hushed voice. "Melissa... I can't promise you anything... we... probably shouldn't..." He was in no place to begin something serious; heck, he was just at a bar drowning out his sorrows thanks to Quin. His ever-developing conscience gave Melissa an out. She was a smart girl; it was up to her if Nate was a mistake worth making.

His hand on her cheek sent a shiver of pleasure through her body. Her hands, crept further around nate, until her body was pressed against his. Looking into his eyes she lost herself for a moment until his voice broke her out of her trance. She considered his word's a moment had had to admit, it might not have been the best choice she could have made, seeing as she had met Nate only a handful of times and she was possibly taking advantage of the man's sorrow with his lost love.
As quickly as she considered the protests her hormones drowned them out beneath the thundering of her heart. "Maybe not, but i want to" she said softly as her hands slowly moved up his back. .
He clearly seemed to want this as well, why else would he have taken her on a lovely walk by the park then up to his apartment. "and i think you do to" she said as she moved to kiss him, her eyes closing and her fingers pressing firmly into his back.
Nate felt the delicate feminine fingers pressing in the center of his back, pulling him back to the realization that Melissa was a big girl who could take care of herself and if this was what she wanted, who was he to say she didn't know best? (Heck, he was the on that had been drinking most of the night.)
Resigning himself to the fate of enjoying a beautiful young woman's company (such a martyr!) he smiled, whispering, "Well, you can just see right through me, can't you?"
He leaned back in, finding her lips with his own, slipping an arm around her waist, a hand at her hip and the other caressing her cheek. He kissed her passionately; if he could not promise her anything else, he would at least give her everything he had for one night.
