The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"So I'm guessing that makes you the angel of the family right?" Iris snorted. "I guess I must have unconscious longer than I thought. Last time I checked, pigs weren't flying yet."
She yawned again, and stretched. "So what does that nasty sister of yours call you anyway? Other than the obvious, of course."
She glanced at Big Red and shrugged. "I dunno, ask her," she motioned toward his sister. "She seems to be the smart one too."
Syn laughed softly and smiled once again at Iris. "You bring a whole new meaning to changing personalites faster than changing your hair color. Although, they seem to happen at the same time with you." She looked the girl over again. "My name is Syn and what's yours?"

"Syn? How appropriate." Suddenly Iris was feeling a bit more faith in Deathstar. Iris had seen what she was capable of, and Big Red's appearance was enough to make Iris think he was powerful as well. If they really were realated, Iris could easily imagine Syn would live up to her name.
<"Maybe I'd better watch my mouth,"> she thought idly.
She stood, still moving stiffly, but not caring as much now. She walked over to the food tray, and picked up the water bottle, taking a small drink before answering Syn's question."Iris."
Moving back to the front of the cell, she sat down again and leaned back against the wall. She tilted her head to the side. "Well Syn, since you seem to be willing to talk a bit, mind telling us what we're doing here? Preferablly a bit more than your....brother.....was willing to tell?" Even though much calmer, she was still having a bit of trouble coming to terms with the whole family relationship.
She shot a quick glance across the hall. Apparently Nail had stopped messing with the cell wall. She clicked her tongue, wondering how the cell walls would react to other things.
"Well, Iris, you all have been brought here to see how you react with another mutant. Though that might not be for a little while." When are you coming back Dorian? "So until then you all will just have to make yourselves comfortable." Syn glanced around at the other captives. All of them seemed to be behaving for the moment. "What else would you like to know?" Syn's voice was soft and calm once again.
React with another what? Mettaliar said to himself in shock. He dropped his fast and cracked his neck. He didn't want to say anything, mostly because he couldn't find the words to speak. All he did know was that now this place started to make sense. The only problem became instead of it being a puzzle, trying to figure out what the hell is going on, and completely flipped into a waiting game. He didn't want to start trouble, so he just sat back. He thought about making a piece of wood and a knife and start to whittle, yet he knew they would flip so he forgot about the idea. Well, whoever this mutant is, he or she better come fast, or else I'm gonna flip. he chuckled under his breath.

Iris watched Big Red disappear down the hall. He seemed preoccupied. Despite her current easy-going attitude, in the back of her mind she felt a twinge of gratitude that he hadn't carried through with his threat. Other than the water bottle she was holding, she couldn't really sense what liquids were nearby enough to use in defense. And the cells were a bit too small to be playing "catch-me-if-you-can", had he decided to come in.
She turned her attention back to Syn. She seemed unfazed by Iris' sarcasm, which was a bit unnerving as well.
"Well, Iris, you all have been brought here to see how you react with another mutant. Though that might not be for a little while. So until then you all will just have to make yourselves comfortable. What else would you like to know?" Iris gave her a confused look.
"React? Why, you think we'd be allergic to them or something?" That sounded absurd. She retrieved the food tray, and took a bite out of the sandwich."Or is this supposed to some kind of forced combat ring? Like a dog fight or the Gladiators?" Iris rolled her eyes. "If that's the case, I hope the food gets better. This stuff is sorry." As she spoke, she reached out and smeared some of the insides of the sandwich on the cell wall. Her stance was overly casual, but her eyes watched closely to see if anything unusual would happen.
Nail was done with doing nothing. The only thing he could do it seemed was join in on the conversation. These guys were some pretty strange guards. They weren’t gassing them every hour, so apparently they didn’t mind Nail and the others being awake and asking questions. The whole family feud thing was completely lost on Nail, but it told him a little more about the captors. They were family, they had issues, and they didn’t mind idly chatting with prisoners.
Standing up and crossing his arms, he watched as Abyss stormed out. He was pretty impressed with how cool Iris was dealing with the slight interrogation. Her sarcasm had actually forced the big guy out of the room in anger. He kind of felt bad for the big guy, but not too bad, considering he had chucked a turnstile at him the first time they had met.
“Well, Iris, you all have been brought here to see how you react with another mutant. Though that might not be for a little while. So until then you all will just have to make yourselves comfortable. What else would you like to know?"
"React? Why, you think we'd be allergic to them or something? Or is this supposed to some kind of forced combat ring? Like a dog fight or the Gladiators?” If that's the case, I hope the food gets better. This stuff is sorry.”
His gaze was focused on Syn. His eyes were cold, showing just how tired of this place he really was. He was obviously not happy with the fact that they weren’t going anywhere or anything for some time.
“Tell me about the other mutant…”
He was simply prying for information. He didn’t like being in the dark. Any little bit of knowledge in a situation like this could help.
Once again Syn found the girl's answers humorous. Shaking her head slightly she looked back at the purple haired girl. "I suppose you could call it an allergic reaction of a sort but I doubt you'll be sneezing at what happens."
Then she heard one of the males voices and she turned to see which one it was. It wasn't the guy Syn had brought in. He must've been brought in ny Kaz or Abyss. "Well, the mutant's name is Jack and I personally can't wait to see what happens when each of you take your turns in the same room as Jack." She shot the guy a sly smile. She wasn't going to ruin the surprise by telling any of them too much information. Syn loved to manipulate and she was good at it.
Looking back to Iris; Syn caught a glance just in time to see her smearing her sandwhich on the wall and ask about the food. "I seriously doubt the food will get any better but if you'd prefer we cold not feed you at all. Then when you're at the point of starving perhaps we'll feed you some some dog food and moldy bread."

"Touchy, touchy. My apologies to the chef." Iris rolled her eyes, not meaning a word. She set down the water bottle, leaving the top off. She didn't doubt Syn's threat, and since nothing unusual seemed to be happening with the wall, she went ahead and finished off the sandwich.
As she munched away, she tried, unsuccessfully, to make sense of what Syn had told Nail. She wasn't telling them anything very useful, except a name.
"Jack, huh? Is he cute?" She shifted her position, and her knee knocked over the water bottle, spilling most of it on the floor. She scrambled to pick up the bottle, but made no move to get away from the spill, again watching to see if anything unusual would happen.
"Oh my dear Iris...You'll just have to wait and find out for yourself." Syn wasn't that dumb to fall for giving more information. She looked at the increasingly messing cell Iris was in and shook her head. "You're one messy eater. What's the matter with you? Did my brother or Kaz drag you out of a dumpster?"

The cells were lined with sensors. The excess material left on the wall from the sandwhich triggers the system to analize it. The sensors on the floor began to react to the dampness. A light glow began to eminate from Iris' cell. The cell door changed ever so slighty, somewhat resembling a see through mirror. A glow came from everywhere in the cell, and no where at the same time. The heat rose in the cell at a fast pace, matching the bright glow. After a few moments, the cell resembled a flashbomb. Bright light filled the room, which looked like a dull glow from the outside. When the glow faded, the room was hot and the air dry, most of the water in the air had been evaporated, along with the spilled water on the floor. The wall where the sandwhich had touched it, was steaming, but otherwise looked freshly cleaned. The cell door turned back to the state it was before the flash.

Iris was about to make another smart remark, when the room suddenly seemed to turn into a tanning booth. She looked around in confusion. A surpised "Yeow!" left her lips as she scooted away from the suddenly scalding walls. She covered her head with her hands reflexively and curled into a ball in the middle of the room.
The heat, though momentary, reminded her a bit too vividly of the last explosion she was in.
Then, almost as quickly as it started, it was over. Tentitively, she lifted her head and looked around. "Sheesh! All right, already! I'm sorry about the bad food comment!" She glared at Syn, as if she was the cause for the reaction. Then she noticed that both the water and food smear had vanished.
<"Definately not what I expected!"> Through her mutation she could feel that all moisture was gone from the room, expect for the sweat now collecting on her skin. For the second time that day she was becoming dehydrated, quicker than usual because of what jewel she was using. Without a second thought she deactivated it. Her hair and eyes returned to normal, and she felt a bit less like a turkey in an oven.
She pulled at her now sweat-dampened shirt, and looked up in irritation "You people sure are sensitive to criticism."
Her heart was pouding, and the air felt like an Arizona heat-wave, but other than that she seemed to be okay. In her mind she filed away the incident, which had told her much more than she'd expected about their situation. If they wanted to find a way out of this place unscathed, some serious brainstorming was needed.
Mettaliar still sat as Syn, who had also been the one who had captured him, continued to play with both the boy and girls minds. He wasn't shocked by this as these people seem like their smarter than your average terrorist. What did surprise him is how long it took the prisoners themselves to figure out Syn's little game. Did they really think she'd slip? And even if she did, by the way she played it, it wouldn't be something they'd want to have on their minds anyway, especially with it turning into more of a clock that counts down to their deaths and all you get to do is sit and watch as your mind goes crazy at the possibilities of how your life will come to an end.
Suddenly his eyes started to catch a small glow from the girl's, apparently named Iris, cage. Mettaliar thought for sure that the cage would explode, yet it didn't. Instead she was found huddled up in the fiddle positionin the center of the cage sweating like a pig. Mettaliar shook his head and kinda felt bad for her. Yet, it kinda just happens when you fool around with something that you've never seen before.
" I'll hold onto this until we are all done here. The bikes fine, a couple of thugs were looking to turn you ignition with picks you might have to replace it in the long run, its a bit scratched up other than that you're in the clear."
Iara took the keys and the picture and gave Abyss the first genuine smile she had in this cell. She put them both back into her pocket and whispered a soft "thank you".
She watched him walk over and talk to the girl who seemed to be his sister and Iris. The more the conversation progressed the more she poison awoke her senses until finally she did a handstand with her heels pressed against the wall as she continued to listen.
When Iris made the "smart one" comment and Diablo left she actually felt bad for him, he was the only person that had been a decent guy to her the whole time. She continued to let the blood rush to her head and the words wash over her until she heard Iris yell. She looked over to see her lying on the ground. Whatever move she had been trying to pull was counteracted.
Nail didn't like this "Jack" already. They wanted them in the same room together. And aparently, something was supoosed to happen when this jack guy and another person are in the same room. <maybe he can use mind control... brain wash us or something...>
The thought of simply killing the guy as soon as her saw him crossed his mind, but he doubted he could bring himself to do that. The whole mystery of what this jack guy was like or was capable of was still bothering him. There were just too many possibilties and he decided not think about them all, and save himself the stress.
Iris's messy behavior caught his attension for sure, and he was wondering himself if she had an escape plan brewing. But with the sudden flash in Iris's cell, Nail gasped, He pressed his hands against the cell wall, his eyes wide with fear. <Did they just decide to kill her?>
After a few horrifying long seconds, the cell returned to normal, and he sighed with relief. She seemed perfectly fine, other than the surprise of the flash. Nail stepped back from the door, rubbing his face, trying to keep himself from stressing out. This place was WAY to trippy for him. It seemed that no matter what you did, the cell was going to punish you for it.
"Whats supposed to happen by the end of this little experiment, huh? We ever going to get out of here? Are we ever going free? Or are we pretty much dead?"
He wasn't sure he wanted to know that answer. He wasn't sure if he didn't want to know the answer either. Hell, he wasn't even sure this chick had an answer for him. But a normal life after this seemed pretty unlikely. Then again, being born as a mutant rarely gaurenteed a normal life anyway.
